The Canadian immigration service was not realistic in its information about Canada , and the people that did immigrate were looking for and easy life and handouts , and not a life of hard desirable work .

Why do people still keep coming to Canada? Because it's even worse where they come from. Unfortunately, even countries in Europe are in trouble. Have a look at France and Germany. Germany is in debt and in recession; all Latin EU countries are in debt up to their eyeballs, facing bankruptcy thanks to free spending liberal governments. As for Developing Countries, their GDPs are not enough to deal with their populations reaching working age. Their growth is too slow, so opportunities abroad look attractive. And, if immigrants move onward to the USA, that is the natural flow Canadian immigration has had for decades. The Can. government will need to become heavily involved in creating affordable, high density housing, cut red tape, and make education cheaper if they want to retain migrants.

I came to Canada over 20 years ago. My own thoughts are that Vancouver is a place where people tend to immigrate and often stay in their own ethnic groups. Particularly Chinese and HK people. I live in a part of Vancouver that is now almost all Chinese and HK people and they mostly don't speak English, and I don't speak Cantonese or Mandarin except for a few words, so we'll never know anything about each other. So, you write off ever knowing your neighbors'. Also the people born in Canada or who came here as small children and went through school together, particularly high school tend to have friend groups that are exclusive to them and it's hard to get past that you aren't one of the 'original' group members. Also, it's dark and rainy here for a good 5 months of the year and there is absolutely nothing going on outside that you can just casually go and do. There's skiing and things, but if you are from a country that has busy street life and street food and night markets, here is the opposite.. go outside in December in the dark and rain and see almost nobody and if you do they probably will just look at the floor. My friends are mostly other immigrants, and that's cool! But for me Canada has been a success financially and a bust socially. I'm fortunate that I bought my house 15 years ago, but if I had to pay the ridiculous rent that people have to pay, on top of the boring social life here I'd be gone from here !

I had the opportunity to visit Toronto this past September. The trip began with Canada Air cancelling my flight, causing me to arrive at 1:30am the next day rather than 7pm the same day. Then couldn't get my cell phone to work although it works in every other country I've visited. Finally finding a hotel, it took me and my host (who is from Toronto) over half and hour to find the entrance because of the hotel's reconstruction and no signs. I had always thought of Canada as US-lite: all the good things without our problems. I quickly realized that it was like being in a third world country with flashy buildings. My hosts were looking for a way to get out as soon as possible.

Like WTF?!! ? Some arrived here (in summer) with NO housing (which is ASS BACKWARDS ~ Y R U bringing ppl here when there R NO places for US to live let alone immigrants??!!) & they were sleeping in the streets/parks. Our Govt moved mountains to find THEM shelters in relatively record time but have done NOTHING to help CANADIANS who R ALREADY homeless (A LOT of them R homeless bc of cost of housing & NOT ALCOHOL/DRUG ABUSE!) Most ppl assume it’s bc of drug addiction. It’s NOT! \nU can be employed making a ‘relatively’ decent wage & yet U R 1 step away from being homeless ESP NOW & esp with greedy landlords!!!) \n\nSince WHEN did it become acceptable to neglect the countries REAL CITIZENS & focus solely on Immigrants? ?? \nThis is just ONE example. I lived in Toronto, Hamilton, and St.John's in the 90s. Canada was a strong country back then, and government was fair and hardworking. We all could see Canada growing into one well developed country some day. And then in the 2010s I went back to visit twice, many once crowded places in downtown Toronto and vancouver were deserted. Shops closed. Beggars everywhere even in cold winter days. People are still very polite, but I could see the hopelessness in their eyes. Like everyone is too busy to care for others because they have trouble looking after themselves too. \n\nI cry for you Canada.

I see a lot of people in the comments romanticizing the United States. We have about 250,000-300,000 homeless unvetted folks from all around the world sneaking through the U.S. southern border each month. Fact: a couple of hundred people on the terrorist watch list have been caught at the border (and reasonably for every one caught and apprehended, a few more haven't been caught and are setting up sleeper cells as we speak). All the while, we are facing a dire housing shortage, and an explosion of homelessness and lawlessness is hitting every major U.S. city. It's about to get very crowded and even more violent here. Come for the opportunities legally, but always watch your back and be prepared to defend yourself, your home, and your family. A peaceful, quiet cold life in Canada may not be that bad in comparison. It doesn't take long for a lawless country to fall from grace no matter how prosperous it seems. Look at what happened to Venezuela within a single decade.

Most of this is accurate, except there are plenty of homes in Canada under $400 000. The problem is with the higher rates and stress test (which is another huge factor as to why people are leaving) it's difficult to be approved for enough to even purchase a cheap home. Also the competition for cheaper homes is brutal. Even with an income over $70 000 a year your looking at maybe being approved for $270 000 right now. Not many livable houses for that price in Ontario near jobs. Canada is not the same place anymore. Another problem is wages going down or becoming stagnant due to immigration. I have personally seen both security and the trucking industries nearly destroyed because of this. When entry level and mid-range trained jobs aren't making the wage you need to live, you don't have many choices but to go somewhere you can afford.

A look back when I was a computer class teacher in primary school, I'd actually told the students that Canada is the best country to live....maybe i was misled those students..

Rent will keep increasing as there is no competitive market. as many of the people in Canada are already operating carousel tax fraud. Look that up on W5 and Canada is doing nothing to stop this, guess where all the ones at the top of that carousel are from? As long as there are ones operating illegal business earning more than the average hard worker being able to afford higher rent the rent will not be decreased but keep going up. Saying that they are bringing in mostly younger people is a lie too, they bring in everyone. That our workers are aging out and there will be nobody to do the work. Let's think about this clearly, as the population grows we need more businesses, more schools, more produce etc... Fact we need the same amount of business for a community based on the size of the community I would think. In the 1800's a small school house was sufficient, a local convenience store was enough with a mail order catalogue etc.. As population grows you need more. We also now have self check outs etc.. We are cutting down Canadas number one resource trees to make way for more and more roads etc.. Having to spend more to change and widen roads, feed these refugees, support them till they get situated, house them for how long, educate, train them, and then hope they can actually adapt and not hate us etc.. Look around the world and not just in our own back yards i.e. what happened in NY today, look at Britain afraid to put up Merry Christmas not to offend or any Christian monuments. Yet we have to tolerate. hmmm As said before I am neither Christian nor Jewish I am Natsarim and view those things as pagan myself but feel this world is going down the wrong path and nobody should have to cave in for the sake of others. I will stand with the Christian and I will stand with anyone that I feel are being made to turn over their ways for the sake of others and have their economy shattered in so many ways. Ask yourself what is your government really doing to protect you on so many levels? Many also come here only to study or take loans and then spend all that money they borrow and then leave, banks offer them special incentives with with welcome to Canada packages and they use it all up, buy goods, then sell them and leave. I read that it really is a problem and some have posted on quora if I owe canada money will I be arrested if I return or what will they do to me. It was quite a high amount on a special credit card he obtained that he maxed out shopping and then selling the goods. Now I know many can do that sort of thing and some by mistake, but those that have no intent to stay... The point is what is being done to protect us from purposeful frauds.

My neighborhood had a big influx of immigrants moving in and I can see the difference they brought, they never cut grass, leave garbage out on lawn, they use the creeks as their own waste dump they give off looks at you like you're a problem in your own country, they stare in a very creepy manor at women, I had one stand at the end of my driveway and film my house, like just weird shit all the time. Females are successful in Canada even with C- grades, get jobs faster than A+ males. Don't argue, i watched it for years, especially in engineering. They just get hired first. Look matters.

You forgot to mention the extremely toxic work environment at least in healthcare where I was employed although I did work in retail for awhile which was just as bad. The backstabbing is unbelievable especially if you're new to the area. Smaller towns are not friendly and even if you're only from the next town over, you are looked as an intruder. I'm happily retired now and avoid people as much as possible, this from a person who was born right here in Ontario. But you are spot on, Canada is not a place I would choose to live and my parents regretted ever coming here from Europe sucked in by the preception that Canada was the Land of Milk and Honey.

I decided to leave Canada 30 years ago and Never look back.

I'm leaving because I want to start a family and Canadian women are giant zeros for starting families. I have dated too many women in this country, it's crazy, I never thought I'd be that guy but I cannot find a decent woman I'd marry here. 50% of the women are infertile or have uterus problems. 35% are on SSRI's or psyche meds. I'm only dating fit decent looking women, and the pool here isn't that big because so many women are obese and refuse to exercise or eat properly. The weather is terrible too. The politics are awful too. It's become so expensive. The tax money is wasted, you get very little value for your taxes. Canada feels like a slave colony that they stuff gullible immigrants into, and hope they can trap them.

What do you expect when you increase people’s mortgages to double figures like literally 220%? Even a lot of my sensible family friends who are recent immigrants, who are well-educated and well paid are looking to move because even with family income of 300000 one can’t afford a detached home and crazy expenses like groceries, utilities, scammed insurances, dubious healthcare, unnecessary taxes. Rather move back home, have a house maid for cleaning, cooking, ad driver for your car and can expect better social lives with families and friends, get decent increments every year just have to put up with the crazy traffic, pollution.. Well the current government wants to take our personal property away, control the media, limit our rights, make it so expensive we have to choose between putting a roof over our head or eating. Very fair and balanced commentary on Canada in 2023. Like you, I've lived in a few countries, and while life is comfortable for me here (only because I own my home from years ago before prices started going insane), I'm looking at exiting due to some of the factors you mentioned.

100% bang on.. I've lived in Dubai (traveled to many other countries).. this is nowhere near being considered as developed anymore (GDP criteria is outdated)..Canada got developed and they forgot to update and even upgrade..!! The drug situation is so bad that I really hope that you didn't come across crackheads/homeless who are under the influence of drugs at all times.. No doubt there are way more homeless people in India, but they are working or at least trying in some way to make their life better and they never hurt you at least, here, it's the opposite, as they literally can do anything.. you can find them roaming all over on the streets of Old Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa.. You can literally find them everywhere.. someone commented earlier that you should give 2 years.. Bro or sis.. it's a complete waste as I am at the same point.. and on top of it when you invested 2 years, it even becomes tougher as it becomes even harder to go back as you have spent so much on furniture, house, car, tools, n all and most importantly - 2 YEARS of life. I left my pregnant wife and have been staying away from her and a 1-and-a-half-year-old baby boy hoping that we'll create a better future and can afford to struggle right now.. its been 2+ years.. Honestly.. I am still not able to figure out whether there is any future or I have spoiled my present looking for a future.. its a dilemma beyond explanation in words, with no relatives or anyone based here.. I've a lot at stake currently and that's the only reason I am stuck otherwise leaving this place seems to be inevitable.. \n\nI travel extensively all throughout and forget about expressways anywhere in Canada (Except 407 which has an insane toll rate) it's a 4-lane highway just 80 km from Toronto to the rest of 450+ kms to Montreal which are 2 major cities of this so-called developed country.. same is for Ottawa, the same hold true from Calgary to Edmonton, and any other major town/city!! on top of it, they are struggling to even maintain those (always under construction - even construction is a wrong word to use as they aren't adding anything new.... it is just being repaired in true words) Same is true with adding new infra in terms of hospitals or any other facility... Banking sucks.. Still dealing through the mail (Postal mail).. (Mails not e-mails). I simply can't get that.. the tax agency - CRA sends communications through the mail, and the same with any other agency.. Comon.. grow up is what I feel at times..!! People are literally not willing to work (Except hard-working immigrants), Govt. doesn't have any plans for the future regarding the economy and development... just bringing in immigrants.. that's it..\n\nYou've made a very smart decision and really at a very good time.. wish you, and your family all the best..!!

Due to the opening of our borders to a country of over 1B people, sometimes you will look around and be surrounded by 80% Indians. And the people here do not like it. More than I've ever seen before, from talking between friends and posts on social media, there is dislike of immigrants in Canada.

With all due respect, comparing US and Canada to European in general doesn't make sense(please excuse my words). Compare them to European countries like Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Luxembourg. And talking about countries with more billionaires, you can only do that on per capita basis looking at the American population as compared to these countries, and with that the statistics has proved that Scandinavia has more billionaires than US and Canada on per capita basis. Countries like Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, France Holland and all those other countries limit you because you're not allowed to work more than one full time job at a time, but in a country like Denmark, the wages are higher and you can work as many hours as your strength can and on top of that you get free healthcare, free education, and a lot more social benefits. So these countries come no where close to a country like Denmark. The language barrier is very valid, but putting in efforts to learn languages of countries like Denmark, Norway. Switzerland is worthy than getting a degree in country like America where inflation is out the roof and debt to gdp ratio is over 90%, having to borrow 3 to 4 billion every month in 2023 to stay afloat.. You need to read more on current state of the US.. It's been predicted that in mid 2024 to the end of 2024 5000 people could lose their job every month due to companies shutting down. This is never a good time to relocate to the States! lol

I'm not Indian, I'm indigenous from Canada and I grew up in Vancouver, where the population is mostly from Asia. Being surrounded by people of asian descent is very normal for me. I don't expect anyone to assimilate and lose their culture to exist here. I knew we had a large population of Sikhs here but I didn't think it was nearly as many as in India... and now I find out there are more sikhs here than in India. Amazing. I also didn't know we had so many Sikhs in parliament, let alone Indians. My school is mostly Indian and everyone I talk to has come from Punjab. Everyone seems to love it here, and the school is in the middle of little Punjab so I've been told by my classmates it is the perfect place for the students who are homesick because they are surrounded by their community. I rarely hear English when I walk down the halls, there is even a course to learn to speak Punjabi, which I want to take so I can talk to the students who don't speak English as well. We have many large gurdwaras, and one near me I've eaten langar almost everyday for the past 10 years. Most people here know Sikhs to be very generous and humble. It was a shock to me when I heard the president of Guru Nanak Gurdwara was shot, because I believed Sikhs to be very kind and peaceful, and the gurdwara has a very good reputation as they take lots of food into Vancouver and feed the homeless. They even opened a kitchen in the DTES during the pandemic to be able to have food available to the people immediately. No one else did anything like that. They delivered a lot of food. Now they have an auxiliary kitchen in the DTES permanently that serves free meals. I thought more news would come out of the shooting but it seemed quiet for a bit until Trudeau accused the Indian government of the attack. This news also shocked me, so I decided to start looking into it slowly. I couldn't really get a good idea of what was going on until I searched a video for Diwali and your videos came up. I will share it with my husband so he can be educated on the matter as well. Thank you for your diligent research and dissemination of important knowledge.

Over sabi have you heard of the IRC refusing a nurse who came into Canada with Tourist visa; and then successfully passed his/her NClex while there regularization before? When making analysis; better get your facts right and if you are intending to remind IRC of the weakness in the tourist Visa; You are a failure because no matter how you complain ; they won't change it because this alone has sourced them over 5000Nurses and doctors to fill their workforce shortage. You that as a Nurse or a Doctor got to Canada and refuse to take the appropriate exams to practice; is that person not a bigger fool for wasting his/her life savings for sight seeing? For me am looking for an opportunity anywhere so that at least i can start my career even if i will switch country but i am just looking for that opportunity to begin i am a Kenyan and compared to us here in Africa wether you are in Europe, Canada or USA you guys are much well off and am looking for someone who can at least help me even if i will start with Europe i have no problem am just looking for that opportunity as much as maybe on your part your seeing it as stagnating but compared to low income earners here in Africa you guys are better off, for me i am just searching for is a gateway even if it's Europe.
