My dad was Canadian. I grew up believing Canada would be my go-to if things ever fell apart in the US. No more. I know exactly how you feel.

The western politicians are really not very good at governing. The problem you see nowadays in the west is essentially the same problem the west have created all over the world in the past. Ive had ads to move to Canada. And im from Australia. They are solving the first word fertility decline through immigration. I wish they would support people born in the country having children. I've been in Canada for 13 years and loved the experience until I needed medical attention. Long story but its the worst thing that ever happened to me, it left me witn physical and emotional trauma, I just can't understand how is this a developped country. I barely used any public services until then and it was such a disappointment I don't know where the 50% of my salary is going to ?

Exactly. Just because YOU have a good salary or job, if everyone around you is collapsing economically then there is ZERO point in staying in that country. I was a PR of Canada until 2017 when I let my PR card lapse and I let go of my PR status. No reason to move to Canada anymore. I have seen too much destruction from drugs and addiction in Canada. The society has rotted from within and the foundation of it has collapsed socially. Doing well for yourself does not help when everyone else around you is on a death spiral morally, spiritually, socially and economically.

If I didn't have family and other obligations in Ontario I would have left a long time ago and never returned. My biggest issue is that the culture as eroded so much that there is no sense of community anymore. Everyone seems to be competing with each other at all times. Trying to make friends in North America as a whole is brutal. Every time I go abroad it is very refreshing to take part in cultures where people actually look out for one another. When I come back to Canada I always feel starved of what is important in life.

I did plenty of studies back in 2017 because I got a job offer in Canada. I paid the money to the immigration lawyer. As a qualified artisan, a qualified artisan with a red seal certificate which Canada introduced in my country, they told me that I need to pay and get my qualifications redone and tested again. We just left Canada 2 weeks ago. Now we’re in the US. Canada has gotten worse for the last few years or decades according to some. When we applied for Canada, all the prosperity was promising. It was like second or third option behind the US and UK. And now, after 7 years, we have decided to really act and do what’s best for our family and the future of our kids. The main reasons why we left Canada, it’s the high and doubled taxes, the very slow healthcare, you get to start to zero despite your decades of managerial experience, they don’t honor your diploma cuz they have their own standard even if your education or work is US standard, the housing and rentals are skyrocketing. Imagine if the rentals are increasing every year by $50-150 is insane. It’s just so inhumane. Back in my birth country in the Philippines, if you’re poor or low income family..the government don’t tax you. You get a high percentage of healthcare assistance and you also get some free social services including monthly allowance from the national government and another separate assistance from the local government. Canada is beautiful if you have money with all the good and kind people around, but the expenses, it’s gonna kill your pocket.

Rents have doubled/tripled in Hungary. So are the food prices. Quality of food is no longer same but going down. Just feel surviving is hard in today's world.

Although things have changed since the pandemic, I still feel safe in all the major Canadian cities. I’m doing OK, but unlike a lot of people I don’t take vacations, don’t own a car - I hate driving - and haven’t needed to use the medical system for awhile. I’m optimistic about the future, and am content with most things about Canada. Well, maybe not the weather.\n\nBut I can understand moving abroad to explore other options. I’d probably set my sights on northern Europe or Iceland and a university degree there.\n\nIt’s definitely about the journey. And the best journeys are the ones that are adventures.
