The immigration system in Canada is a fraudulent criminal enterprise. Its sole purpose is to fleece unsuspecting people of their life savings and future economic output. \n\nImmigrants are sold the lie of the Canadian dream, bilked of their money on immigration services, then deposited into permanent tax enslavement, as they will never have the opportunity to invest in themselves or their communities.\n\nThe sheer scale of the plunder, not just of the immigrants themselves but of born-Canadians as well due to second order effects, is much more vast than is generally perceived.

Canada has long been oversold. My parents emigrated to Toronto in the mid-50s but returned to the UK in 1970. Back in Britain, they were quickly able to enjoy a much higher standard of living than they could in Canada.

Ever since Trudeau opened up the borders making it very laxed for these 3rd world countries to enter Canada has become a dark hole.. 70s,80s,90s when it was difficult to enter the country strick border protection to protect us has gone down the drain. I wish it went back to the Era where CBSA use to enter factories or any work place and asked for citizenship if they deported. I’m in Vancouver at the mo, been here for several months over the past year (from London, UK) … I don’t think this is much of a problem (check the size of the ‘crowd’ at the beginning) in reality, just blown up by the usual handful of RW windbags … it’s diverse and friendly here … sure they need to build more houses … just do it, this is Canada ffs, not the uk … population density in Canada overall is about 4 persons per sq km, in the UK it’s around 280 … and I don’t think that the UK is even full, in reality. Governments need to stop pandering to the landlord class (of which too many politicians are a part and profit from the status quo)

Just to give some clarity, its not just the immigrants Canada is failing. Its ALL Canadian citizens under 40 who weren't born on third base.

Thanks to immigrants Canada has survived this long. Immigrants bring in much needed dollars and skills that locals don’t have. Further, immigrants are the hard working people unlike the ‘locals’ who rather than work two jobs to make ends meet, sit back and complain how bad things are. \nIf you haven’t guessed, I’m an immigrant too and have been in Canada for the past 24 years. I have contributed to the coffers and have not taken any money out from it for the past 24 years!

Canada needs to stop immigration for next 5 to 10 years in order to bring the housing and food cost down.

I was pro-immigration too when Canada was bringing in 300,000 per year. Then they added over a million, like of course that's not going to work.

As a former Liberal Party of Canada member they knowingly did this because of the overwhelming influence of property developers and landlords on the party as well as openly discussing changing the demographics of the country to insure they could never lose any future elections. \n\nIs this also why they push Medical Assistance in Dying against older Canadians who can no longer afford the cost of living and are more likely to vote Conservative?

I’m so glad I left Canada what an absolute mess the country has become under Trudeau, i consider myself one of the lucky ones having the opportunity to leave hope one day Canada can find its feet again.

I agree with this feeling shared all over. No, for now Canada don’t need a lot of people. The country need to fix this housing problem and fix its immigration policy. It’s insane to see people paying for 900$ for shared bedroom, this is crazy. Fix it first then later you’ll scale up the immigration process again.

There were a few years of very low immigration during Covid. It is the Covid-policies that have crippled Canada to the extent that we have a lot of catching up to do on construction and to undo the insane money printing that was done. Then we should be back on track for 100M Canadians.

Family immigrated there in 85. Back then my parents needed to prove and bring certain assets as part of the requirements. \n\nNow it seems they don’t really care, just come in with nothing, and the first thing to figure out is how to get the gov to pay out to sustain.\n\nHow this change came about… got no idea. \n\nAnd when looking at it culturally, that has changed as well. Being Chinese, we brought along our traditions. Those were celebrated and introduced to other Canadians, and it was a joyous thing. That being said, Canadian culture should come first and foremost. That should be understood. You are living underneath someone else’s roof, you should learn their culture and accept it. If not, why are you there.\n\nNowadays, it feels like it is a right to alter, and place your original culture above that of Canada’s. That’s just weird. Why did you move there in the first place if you can’t accept and get along with everyone else there.\n\nI decided to move back to Hong Kong because I didn’t like it, and for people that feel the same, get out of there. People that want to stay in Canada should be contributing, and live like a Canadian.\n\nProud to be Canadian, but it feels different now. Only hear crimes and homelessness, drugs… gun violence. How things have changed in these past 25 years or so.\n\nI do hope the gov wakes up. But yeah, not betting on it. Wish my fellow Canadians the best of luck. These people are not migrants, they are opportunists. Here in Canada we watch daily on news people escaping from US crossing the border. I guess in New York migrants can get prepaid card for some time and then authorities cut them off and migrants come back to Canada for canadian money, it's a revolving door

Add in greed driven inflation by the oil & grocery giants and there is no extra money for rent. Now poilievre wants back in power, when he’s had 20 years and done nothing to increase housing, and pander to those exact same conglomerates. Meanwhile, our interest rates keep going down according to plan, the housing bubble has leveled, & progress is being made. Canada isn’t broken, we just have to keep working on it.

Canada needs to look at the public housing program in Singapore. It has worked very well for its citizens and permanent residents.

As a first-generation immigrant who grew up in Toronto, Canada, especially Ottawa and big cities in Ontario, have become unrecognizable as a result of immigration! We came to Canada 60+ years go and life then was so much better than now. Prices were low and taxes were low. There were lots of apartments available and lots of jobs. \nMy parents rented an apartment and got good factory jobs. \nThroughout the years various governments have increased the deficit and increased taxes.
