I came to Canada with high hopes. But I left Canada after six years. As an introvert life was extremely hard there. Suffered depression, racism and devoloped an anxiety disorder. I regretted the decision I made but it was too late as I spend a lot of money and effort to be in Canada. I made the money save up and came back to India. I am happy here and finally I can breathe freely. I enjoy life here and enjoy the freedom here. I still visit once a while but to live there permanently is not for me and my mental health.\nCanada is beautiful its just not for me.

Ummmm.. you sound like you moved to 1 city and making your analogy. I am american and lived in Canada for 30 years of my life. Florida a 1 bedroom is 2400 and at best you can get a 800 Sq ft for 15. Got forbid you get sick in America you go bankrupt. You get paid more in the states... lol some states minimum wage is 5 to 7 dollars. Every country has a staffing problem in medical field. If you wanna be a you tuber now yes u.s can be better for that LA, Florida places with no winter where you can film every season is a plus. Thank you ladies for those comments, to someone who is readying this today, I am an immigrant and I have lived in three continents, EU, MIddle East, USA and Canada, \n\nCanada is the best, just be smart with your financial decisions, and dont live in Van or GTA, Edmonton and Calgary for the win, yes weather sucks for 5 months but it does everywhere. \n\nUAE is great for making money, but its all fake and holo, USA is actually pretty unsafe and I felt it before I decided to move. and EU has basically the same tax situation. Portugal is really nice, but most immigrants are either french/english speaking so portugal is never an option, the adoption is too much. \n\nAlso a lot of it depends on your profession, I am an IT specialist and jobs are a plenty at pretty good rates, and if you are smart, there are several ways of shielding yourself from tax, \n\ndont want to brag but us brown (south asians) always break this code, tax no tax a brown guy will have all of his ducks be done with college, with a house mini van and picket fense, all with no debt and hard work, i cant understand how others cant do it (african brothers not included, coz they follow the same template as we do)\n\n cheers my hustlers

I am Canadian and proud of it. Left Canada when I was 24 (now in my 50's), never been back, and love it!!!! This does not take anything away from Canada, I simply enjoy living in Europe.

I am thankful to Canada and for giving me basic lifestyle compare to my birth country. Nonetheless, I feel unhappy living in Canada. The high taxes, the very high cost of living, and how unfriendly people are is making me feel depressed.

I came to Toronto in 2018 to visit Canada for the first time, and I went to an Italian restaurant where they were obviously very prejudiced and did not like to see a black man eating there. My GF then forced us to stay when I expressed my unease staying in that restaurant, but the drink and the food were just disgusting and I believe they did serve us that way on purpose. I even felt like they spat in my food. For a moment, I felt like I wanted to punch the arrogant and condescend manager in a face, but the grace of God wouldn't allow me to do such thing! I am not tempted to come back there anytime soon!

I've never been to Canada, but off the bat I can imagine with it being a British colony and right next to the United States, the lifestyles are just completely different. We've thought to move there but decided not to, a couple of other relatives will be moving there but as hard as things are in Miami I think to myself, why the hell would I live in the cold when I can walk to the damn beach with my beer and smoke one. As a Jamaican it was easy for us to go there but I've never wanted to go because I've thought, what am I going there to do.

I agree with most of your points, but as a person who immigrated to Canada 23 years ago, I am still happy that i did it, grateful for the opportunities that Canada offered to me, even though i had to work hard for everything. Few points i want to make for those who consider immigrating:\n1. Uprooting yourself from your country, and starting from the bottom in a foreign country is difficult, and not for everyone. Sometimes, when immigrants go back to visit their home countries, they try to present themselves as successful, and tend to exaggerate the positives. Having realistic expectations is crucial, do a thorough research beforehand, prepare yourself, and you will have better chances to succeed.\n2. I also lived in US for almost 2 years: US is better if you want to do business, or if you are highly specialized (IT, healthcare, etc.), but i wouldn't raise children there, even more so if i were a visible minority. \n3. If you are on top of your career at home, think twice before immigrating, unless you find a suitable position before arrival. If you are in a priviledged position, you have connections, doors are opened easily for you, you might find it difficult to adjust without these things. Many people leave their country because of corruption, they will find that they have more opportunities in Canada. \n4. There are some significant differences between provinces in Canada: Quebec offers low university tuition, Alberta offers the best ratio between average income and average housing costs. (You can buy a new house in Edmonton with about 300k) \n5. Canada might not be for those who want to become milionaires in few years, or for those who want a night life like Las Vegas or Ibiza... but if you are a young couple, motivated and hardworking, who want to raise children in a decent environment, to be able to send them to school without fear, Canada might be a good place.

You guys were spot on with this video. I am Canadian born from Caribbean immigrants and all we've done from jump is work multiple jobs. If you live in Toronto you can't just have one job; even lawyers and engineers have side hustles. My uber drivers are usually tech engineers! Most people usually immigrate to the US after getting their visa because the pay is so much more and the cost of living is lower. An example some jobs I'm looking at in Canada pay $50-$60k base demanding 5 yrs experience with 2-3 wks vacation. In the US the same job pays $75-100k base, unlimited vacation, work from home 2-3 yrs experience! I now live here part time and most of my wealthy friends have moved to the US, Costa Rica or Mexico because the cost of living is too high and it's no longer worth it. No life balance, even working remote you're a slave, the cost of living is outrageous

I am just waiting to be financially stable and free with my passive income, then I am leaving Canada! All you said in the video is TRUE!!! If my parents country was good and stable, I would had go live there, but I will do like most of my culture do, live in my parents country for 6 months, then travel in another country and spend 4 months in Canada. This is such bullshit. nothing you say makes sense . All countries have the ups and downs . There's no reason why you can't save money in Canada maybe you should read the book The Wealthy Barber and you should learn more about money. I am near retirement and it is such a treat not to have to worry about paying for anything and having a guaranteed income when I re— . Embrace the climate and learn to do things that are compatible with the climate if you need to play overseas for short periods of time to get extra warmth in the winter if you need it . this constant bitching is not helpful to anyone . Even in the United States the wait times could be 8 hours in emergency . I am a surgeon so I know. What you doing have is your private insurance company denying you coverage and you have to refer to them every time when you need a particular blood test done. I can have my patients have MRIs or CT scans within 2 days if they need is there a giant . What you need is Doctor Patient Advocates. Very good video. I am an Australian citizen, and I share your views. Also I want to add another reason why I prefer Canada than Australia. Being originally from Peru, I currently live in Peru, my wife is also Peruvian and a baby with 5 month at the time of writing, however there is no family reunion visa to take my whole family (only my baby who will hold Australian citizenship but not my wife) so I cannot take them both, because migrations force my wife to apply to the Partner Visa, that cost AU$7850 (US$5,600) plus agent fees, documents, ticket price, and other cost. Also the waiting period is about 24 to 28 months. So if I return to Australia, I first need to find a job, then save the $5,600, send and amount of money to Peru during my absence, then wait about 2 years and spend about $10,000 to $15,000 extra to bring my family to Australia. The cost of waiting carries a lot of anxiety, health issued due to the uncertainty and may damage my marriage, And if I get to my wife a Visitor visa, she is not allowed to work and study, and I must pay private insurance, and for experience, private insurance policies and gap costs are very high. Of course visiting my family every 6 months is costly and timely prohibited, an economic flight from Australia to Peru costs about US$2,500 and takes about 1 day or 38 hours, add also the jet lag and day difference.\nIn contrast, Canada allows me to take my whole family in just 3 months, my wife can get a working visa, and if we decided to reunite in 6 o 9 month, I can go to Peru every long weekend to visit my family, a flight from Toronto to Lima is about $500 return and only 8 hours so I can go to Peru and come back to Canada in a long weeked, a luxury imposible to do if I lived in Australia. \nWhen my father passed away here in Lima, I was in Australia at university, and due to cost and time, I couldn't go to give him a farewell and to his funeral, a issue that regretted; for that reason, my mother-in-law, who needs care and being my wife, her only child, after facing my own experience, we decided that Canada and not Australia, is a better choice, if something happens with my in-law, from Canada my wife can see her quickly.\nThank you for sharing in this video

You both make valid points about Canada. I am 2nd generation Canadian. I do feel like its expensive here and Even I have a hard time landing a job. (Recently got laid off from my career job, they said I didn't have enough experience to work there). My friends who aren't single and live with their partner, have an easier time living here compared to people who are single & living by themselves. \n\nNight life is boring here. However, daytime life specially in the summer is better. I feel like Canada is more for an outdoor person. Depending where you live, there are beaches, mountains, trails, & lakes to explore. Some parts of Canada even look tropical! We have hot springs here as well!\n\nFor the leisure & work life balance, I feel like that depends on the person. I used to work 2 jobs (not because I was bored or needed the money at the time), I just wanted to save more money & help my friend out with his business. I felt like I had good balance of work & leisure. I hanged out with my friends on Friday & Saturdays then I had my 'me' days on Sundays.\n\nIf you are going to move here, do your research, also I don't think people consider their countries dollar into the equation, what I mean is, if you want to convert your money to Canadian... you might have less money then you have. Example, at this moment, 1 Mexican Peso is 0.066 Canadian dollars, therefor people coming from Mexico might have a hard time afford things in Canada compared to a person who is moving from USA. I am a Canadian citizen and recently retired. I cannot afford to live in Canada on my pension. I moved to Mexico where I can live on $1,100 CDN a month and that includes private medical insurance and I am a 15 minute walk to a tropical beach.

First off I am black and a U.S. citizen born there also Canadian. so don’t get offended but I think your video is totally crazy. I family came here from Guyana in the 70’s, moms brothers, sisters. Nobody wants to move back To there country. You two young chicks are insane and don’t know what your talking about. Be careful. In this video you both sound like spoiled brats. Many people in your home country would do almost anything to trade places with either of you. It sounds like you would both be happier if you went back home. When you get there please contribute some of what you learned in Canada to the people around you. But before you leave please be sure to thank the Canadian government officials and the other Canadians who helped to make it possible for you to reside in Canada legally. You should both remember that there are millions of illegal immigrants in the US and Europe who would gladly trade places with either of you. By the way, I am not Canadian. But I imagine that many of the Canadians who watch this video will feel you are both rather ungrateful for the opportunities that Canada has given you.

You are right on. I am American and I lived in Oregon and visited both sides of Canada and I was not very impressed

I've thought about moving to Canada from the US, at least for warmer months of the year, but decided against it for some of the reasons you list and one you didn't list. The amount owed in taxes and cold, dreary Winters, while prices are still pretty high for necessities all makes me think I'm better off just staying where I am. Also I learned recently that you have this thing called Self ID, where any man can decide he's a woman and just fill out a form and pay a fee, then has access to all women's spaces, programs, etc. That sealed the deal. I like some liberal things about Canada, but the country is just too far into the extreme left for me. Good luck to all of you up there though. I hope the coming Winter is a mild one.

Question; What is the like for Immigrants who earn pensions after having worked and having retired from a company in Canada? \nAre most happy they did so being able able to return to Nigeria and live well off of that income?\nRelated question; Do Nigerian companies offer pensions? I understand they do not have a Social Security benefit for those who are Senior in age.\n\nI am not being condescending. Thank God for the internet, it allows us to hear the thoughts and feelings of others, especially the young people. Everything you've said is true but the other side of the story is why many people decide to live here. Maybe you should do a piece on why people want to live in Canada. I am here 40 yrs now and i still love this country. If you stay long enough you will get to love it too. differences spark excitement.

I listened to your chat. I did not appreciate some of your reasons for why people leave Canada. First of all life is what you make it. There are lots of things to do if you are interested in being active. Canada is a very beautiful country and there are lots of places to visit and enjoy. \nYou need to educate yourself about what people are paid in the US and Canada. The minimum wage is a lot higher in Canada. I suggest that you leave Canada and then you will appreciate what a wonderful country we live in. Go to Trinidad for example and buy groceries ...pay over a thousand dollars a week for food, then tell me that food is too expensive in Canada. (25.00 for a box of cereal)!Go to a hospital there and you will wait for a whole day just to be seen. Yes, we have a shortage of medical doctors and nurses here, but they are trying to fix that. Sure we pay taxes, but if you or someone in your family needs a heart transplant, a knee replacement or whatever, you will get it FREE in the hospital, and while you are in the hospital, your bed will have sheets and pillow cases. Drive your car on the roads in Trinidad and the potholes will ruin your tires, not to mention the frame of the car. Your taxes also maintains parks, roads and bridges for the safety and enjoyment of everyone. The government has no control over the weather, so complaining that it is too cold or rainy is up to mother nature. During the lockdown I am sure you received money from the government to help you, everyone did. Do you think other countries paid their people money to help them get through this crisis?? NO!\nI love Canada, it has been good to me and I never regretted emigrating here 42 years ago. I go traveling to other countries and I see how other people live and I am happy to come home. Appreciate what you have or if you are so unhappy, use the passport that you said is so powerful.

If I was you and still live in Canada, I would leave NOW ASAP OK. I would like for you'll to go back to Africa. Are some where else to a better life. See I am American I can say it would be a better place to live, but all places have its challenges if you can agree. Yes I would visit Canada but to live in Canada noway. I live in Manitoba where the cost of living is pretty close to the cheapest in Canada. Yes minimum wage is $11.95 and apparently going up shortly. I don't think higher tax rate is a good point when you compare it to a country like Nigeria. The maximum tax rate you can pay in Nigeria is 24% and it begins from anything from 5.6 million naira per annum. After paying that tax you pay for the school fees of your children, and you pay that 3 times every year, Asides school fees you buy generator and fuel it everyday to get something close to constant power supply. (I don't want to include healthcare because if you have a good HMO they will sort out that perfectly well)\nSome of us still pay security due if you live in an estate. \n\nThe point I am trying to make is that if your tax rate is high let's say to up to 50% and you are sure of the quality of education your children is getting in public schools so you don't have to pay for school fees, You don't have to buy generator and fuel it because there's constant electricity supply and there's good security so you don't have to pay for private security. You might realized that tax rate in Canada is effectively cheaper than here in Nigeria. Because you will still pay for school fees, generator and maintenance and private security and all these have a way of eating deep into your income.

I have to respectfully disagree with you girls on the tax system in Canada. You mention that you cannot be a millionaire or a billionaire. \n\nI really think that is the problem with our generation, excessive greed, everyone wants to be a millionaire/billionaire, but the reality is most of people in this world will only live an average middle class life or below, that has been the case throughout history in every country on earth. \n\nInstead of wanting to be a millionaire you should strive follow your passion and to master your craft, and if and when you do so, the end result maybe you achieving millionaire billionaire status \n\nThis how most rich people got their wealth, they worked at their craft and had passion and eventually they got the wealth that came along with it \n\nI agree with Canada's progressive tax system, the only problems we have run into since 2010 is that the government has been misallocating taxes collected and giving co-operate tax breaks. But the principle of the progressive tax system makes sense, because up until recently (2010ish) it prevented the nation's wealth from accumulating at the top and in the process increased the velocity of money.\n\n This enabled business to thrive because money was constantly changing hands instead of being concentrated at the top. \n\nThis had an overall effect of enabling most Canadians to join the middle class and in turn make Canada an attractive destination for many immigrants including your selves \n\nIf Canadian system did not have a progressive tax system, there would be gross inequality with all the associated problems (crime/drugs etc). \n\nI really think prospective immigrants should be realistic about their expectations before moving to Canada to avoid dissatisfaction. \n\nIf you could not be a millionaire in the country you were born in and of which culture you belong, but some how you believe that you can move half a world away and become a millionaire. \n\nYou know part of the reason you could not even achieve middle income statust in Africa (I am from Africa as well) let alone be a millionaire is because all the wealth in most African countries is concentrated in the hands of a few corrupt bastards in the government. \n\nThis concentration of wealth at the top is possible when there is no progressive tax system and ensures economic equilibrium in all sectors of the economy\n\nIt is the reason why there is no jobs or opportunity for young people in developing countries \n\nDo not get me wrong you can still be a millionaire in Canada, but you will have to really earn it, there is no shortcuts in life\n\nPatience, passion and perseverance is the key.
