I have been (mostly) a life long Liberal living in Toronto. I can honestly say, the Trudeau Liberal government has been the worst government at any level I have lived under - including Mike Harris and Bob Rae. Justin Trudeau likes to cut ribbons and make big announcements and spend time on the completely wrong priorities for Canadians. We need a government focused on the economy and the things it takes to build a thriving 21st century economy. Yes, it takes immigrants and those people will need the basics: a job, food, shelter and services. Instead we get dental care, pharm care, daycare - all these things we can't afford and that do very little to build out a thriving economy we need. We have lost decades due to poor planning of our governments and now we all must suffer. It will take generation to fix this, meanwhile our competing countries will all pass us. I will rue Justin Trudeau and his incompetent Ministers and enablers for the rest of my life.

Whatever you think, be kind to immigrants so they don't go down a wrong path when they are here. They make a desparate sacrifice to be here and will not integrate if people are hostile.

It is wrong to say an Indian is crossing Canadian Us border. Unscrupulous elements spread everywhere else viz. UK, France, Italy etc are well known for their religion and motives. Canadians are expected to suffer quietly with unaffordable housing and wages, while new immigrants are given all sorts of opportunities and financial assistance that we as Canadians aren’t given! A government is expected to care about its own citizens 1st, not last and it’s not wrong to expect that from our government! Shame on Trudeau and his failures and shame on him for attacking Canadians who are suffering from MASS MIGRATION!

It’s not the immigrants to blame, but the reckless leftist government buying potential votes by selling the wrong picture of what immigrant life will look like and by providing welfare on demand. Many immigrants do not work, but recieve soicial assistance especially once they get children, and eventually they settle into mediocre life and no longer look for work. Our government is dishonest and deprives newcomers of their agency.

look you people have it wrong. we need these people. the baby boomers will pass soon. their kids already have homes. we will have too many homes in 10 years. We need babies. The birth rate is on a constant decline. In 80 years it drops to zero.

The only hope for this country is Poilievre. I say this as someone who is shall we say less than enamored of him. But he's the only guy who is going to slow this flood down, and he's said he will do just that. Trudeau, meanwhile, still can't even be convinced to lower immigration, still can't be convinced there is one single thing wrong with the huge numbers he's bringing in, still just blames the provinces for not building housing fast enough.

It all comes down to how many babies Canada makes versus the cost of social services. We have anti-family systems, crushing living costs and aging population. Our socialist system needs tax dollars to fund “free healthcare” and other election promises that require funding. So, Canada realized this, and the bandaid approach is to fill the country with young immigrants. To hear this is about population growth is flat out, wrong.

I can't help but think that the phrase 'a country of immigrants' is just a sneaky way of saying 'a country of colonialism'. I dont know that much accountability or reconciliation has happened in Canada over the last 300 years. It began with governments and corporations doing whatever they wanted and could do to make money and extract resources off of this land (regardless of whom it affected), and continues to be just that. The increase of immigrants is largely, as far as I know, being used to a) bring in more revenue and economic stimulus (which is more and more ending up in the hands of a few very wealthy families) and b) fuel the labour force of large corporations that would rather soak the profits up themselves, hire low-wage PR or temporary foreign worker labour, than pay Canadian residents properly to work those jobs. I love immigrants, have many 1st gen immigrants friends, and think they do bring a lot to Canada. We all do, as we were all immigrants at some point. At the same time, the immigration system is very complicit in looking at immigration as a resource in aiding those rich families/ corporations in colonialism, and you could argue that this overreliance is abuse of the immigration system. Certainly, we have seen this with colleges. This feels especially true over the last several years with huge jumps in immigration numbers with growing inequality for long term residents. So the result is a very quickly changing world that is not helping many Canadians feel more secure about their future, which is a recipe for unrest. Am I wrong? Genuinely I am looking to have an open discussion here!

I don’t understand this “reporting”. If I go to Chinatown and become enraged after seeing majority Chinese population I’d say something is wrong with me. Go to a small town in Alberta, Manitoba etc you’ll see majority white people. People in the comments keep saying “Canadian” what is a Canadian. What values do born Canadians (such as myself with Pakistani parents) that other ethnicities don’t have which makes them unCanadian? Are we supposed to dress or behave in a certain way to earn the Canadian label?

Immigrants are purchasing rideshare and food delivery accounts(uber,doordash,grubhub, walmart spark) with stolen identities. They have zero accountability on these apps. They get caught stealing, intimidating, delivering to the wrong houses, and artificially inflating payouts on these apps. Call your local walmart and request ID checks in curbside pick up.

Crazy the amount of homeless in all the parks that where for children are now being use as camp sites. Children or seniors can't enjoy a nice time now.\nUnemployment refusing to help residents n new people that are student or don't got documents get full financial support but those that live here can't. The customer was wrong for being racist and making rude remarks. But the delivery driver should have kept the change on him especially if the customer pressed cash in the app. Not sure what the best solution should have been in this situation. Maybe the delivery driver should have driven back to the store and came back with change?
