I am Canadian, and I want to speak to the USA, as a concerned citizen who valued the relationship that we once had between our two countries: please realize that we do NOT want to declare this as any form of “attack”, that these are solely defensive measures against your current administration’s lack of respect towards us as a people and as a country. \n\nPlease rest assured that we KNOW that not all of you voted for Trump, that there are those of you who realize what your current president is truly doing and do not support it. This is NOT about fentanyl. This NOT about money and how much each country was giving whom. We had a respectable trade deal that we were following, previously signed by Trump. We have always had a positive relationship together, business-wise and friendship-wise. Please also realize that, once your administration is no longer in control of our narratives in such a destructive manner, or it gets replaced by one that reverses this destructive policy, we will definitely reconsider our former relationship and we will work towards rebuilding it. \n\nIt is unfortunate for both sides here. We are aware of that. But “Canada Strong” is our way to remain forever a sovereign and free nation. Nothing more, nothing less. Always remember that.

I called the Canadian embassy in Washington DC this morning. I told them as an American citizen. It saddens me and breaks my heart that we are treating our allies with such disrespect. I do not stand with the United States government and their treatment of our allies. I also called the Mexican embassy and told them the same thing. I didn’t announce Trump in his cabinet and what they’re doing to our economy that we have worked so hard to resurrect again after he was president last time. I, urge every person who does not agree with what is going on to call the Canadian and the Mexican embassies and just let them know that we stand in solidarity with them and against our government here!

I'm canadian here in Canada - most of us despise trudeau and are struggling to survive under his high tax regime. We want trudeau to sit down and shut up and stop robbing us Canadians of a living and of our election. We have wanted an election for months now. He has denied us that.

Agree with Trudeau here, and as a Canadian conservative, that’s not something I say easily. But let’s get real here. Trump is NOT a smart guy. I am a true Patriot of Canada, but we have been living on boral time when it comes to our defense systems, including the borders. And we have depended on the U S far too long, and for that I blame the Canadian government. The Trudeau/liberals said they were going to fix it well here we are unprepared now here we are 10 years later. We need an election right now. I'm usually reasonable enough to realize that while I may disagree with many policy decisions, there's usually a relatively coherent line of thought to back said actions up. The problem here is that there’s no clear logic behind using tariffs as a tool to curb fentanyl trafficking or immigration. I'm not going to speak on the issue of immigration at the Canadian border because there simply is none. Yes, there are illegals from Canada, but almost 100% of them are from overstaying visas rather than crossing the border unlawfully. So let's talk about fentanyl. \n\nMost fentanyl in the US originates from China, often in precursor form, and is then processed in Mexico before being smuggled into the states. But it's typically trafficked in small, high potency quantities, often hidden in legitimate shipments or through mail, and only on very rare occasions is it being brought in by individuals crossing the border. It has _never_ been documented to have shipped in as part of large scale commercial imports, so a 25% tariff on legal trade with Canada and Mexico doesn’t directly target the black market supply chain at all.\n\nIf we take Trump’s reasoning at face value, the argument seems to be that he wants to exert economic pressure on Mexico and Canada as a means of having them crack down harder on drug trafficking networks. But the issue is that fentanyl simply isn’t coming in through mass import channels, so all this looks like is a punitive measure without a clear mechanism to actually achieve its stated goal. And the implications? Drastically higher costs for consumers in the US, Canada, and Mexico, with absolutely nothing to show for it.

Ridiculously proud Canadian here. As much as it genuinely upsets me that things had to come to this, it came as no shock. tRump has always been jealous of Canada - our oil, natural gas, timber, minerals, etc.. tRump is ridiculously jealous of our younger, fAAAr better looking country AND Prime Minister. \nSeriously though, Canadians ARE a proud bunch. We just don't feel the need to flaunt it. But this..... From Ukraine with respect. A few decades ago our school hired a Canadian as a native speaker to teach us some spoken English. He was not very smart and made some grammar mistakes here and there. But what surprised me is how on his 1st day he tried to make a joke, smth. “We, Canadians, have nothing to apologize for, except for Celine Dion”. He startled to giggle, searching our faces for a sign of approval. There was none! We love Celine! To this day it astounds me how many Canadians badmouth their great singer or their own Prime minister. What is wrong with you? Like every Canadian I’ve met kept saying many unpleasant things of Trudeau. You should be proud of your prime minister the way you are proud to be Canadians and slow down on insulting him!

Fentanyl from Canada isn't a real issue - in fact, significantly more comes into Canada from the USA, along with guns, than the other way around - but that fact doesn't matter at all to the administration or their MAGA followers. Facts and logic are not involved in this. Canadians are quiet and peaceful people who are proud of their country, and we are coming together over this shared cause. As a Canadian, I share the opinion of about 80% of our country. Trudeau is a clown, and after 10 years of him destroying our country, we can't wait for him to be gone. The stuff he is saying about the flow of drugs is not accurate. Just like everything he does, the moves he has made to fight the drug trade are just theatre, with very little results. I don't like Trump, but he is correct about the drug issues we have up here.

Proud Canadian here. So, we all know, including the Americans, that trump is a moron. In my books, he is the economic equivalent of Hitler, and no different from Putin. But my question is, how do you Americans who voted for this bully, feel now? I get it, a lot of American are against what he is doing. But the majority of you voted him in.

Canadian here- I hate Trudeau just as much as most Canadians, and as it seems most Republican Americans do as well. But I fully stand behind him at this hour. He might have shit the bed for most Canadians during his time as PM, but when it mattered he has stood up for Canada. Review the facts and educate yourself on the current situation between CAN and the US. I will be the first to admit, Canada has not done enough in terms of its own security and military, but these failures should not be the decay in our friendship as nations. The US DOES NOT subsidize Canada, it DOES NOT give money to Canada. In simple terms- the larger country, with the largest economy in the world (USA) buys more from its Northern brother, which produces vast amounts of natural resources which the larger southern country requires. As for the booing seen at most recent sports events in Canada, that is directed at the President, not the average American. I myself would never boo a national anthem, an anthem that millions have sacrificed to protect and defend. But I understand the pain and anger that is coming from my country. We have always been allies, friends, and to most even family. I do hope that in the future our relationship can heal and move forward but the current actions being taken by the American admistration are horrendus and upsetting to most of the world outside of the US. I wish us all the best in the future, be nice to one another, and always remember that the US and Canada have fought, spilled blood, and died alongside one another in the fight for democracy and freedom around the world.

As for “America’s presumptive 51st State” in the intro, as a Canadian, please don’t normalise talking about us as the 51st State, even in jest. We are a sovereign nation, and after seeing the utter disrespect with which Trump and Vance treated President Zelenskyy recently, we have to keep our elbows up ! As a Canadian, the main problem is attitude. It infects everything here, and that attitude has played into a self-fulfilling prophecy. Although we are going to see many hardships, it's hard to see how we don't deserve what we get at this point. Just like you have to protect your southern boarder the USA needs to have accountability at the northern border. So what’s with the double standard. It’s not all on Canada. As a Canadian I’m glad that we are doing something about this. But as the southern border was closed we have a lot more people coming to Canada illegally trying to get to the states or staying here. We have to do more, of course we do.

We literally have 5 million Indians in Ontario alone looking to get into the USA to live and work. They came here to get PR so they dont have to wait 20 years in india to get a work visa. With Canadian PR can get into the states in under 5 years. You guys are in deep trouble, not a single leader in Canada LIBS, CONS, NDP want to decrease immigration from India. Western Canadian here. Our current liberal government opened immigration to bizarre levels over the last several years I believe to get more liberal voters. Our country is in a bad way and don’t blame Trump for clamping down. Trudeau and now Carney are quite happy to keep the WEF plan going. I am a white Canadian have family and friends in the USA and I tried to move to the usa back in the early 2000's because I had a job could not do it because I was not allowed but it seems if you are other then white it is so much easier and everyone said I should go now because Trudeau is a dictator and that I am a law abiding Conservative that wants to leave Canada because our PM is nothing but a POS Liberal that is robbing the hard working real Canadians and cutting us off of having a good job because of DEI. tyler i don't think u realize how bad the usa education system really is. i'm canadian but have lost count of the number of usa teachers who have complained about how bad they are held back from teaching kids properly, how kids can't be failed or held back, how kids graduating gr 12 can't read or write past gr 6 level. in fact recently there was a statistic put out that something like 60% of ALL americans cant read or write past gr 6. considering all your universities that is terrifying. not to mention with gun violence, straight up violence among kids and at teachers, the disrespect and the severe lack of good parenting, kids are not being educated at all. u yourself have done videos on where someone interviews americans and asked them questions about canada and they haven't got a clue. not one clue. yet canadian kids are regularly taught all about their american neighbours. are kids know more about america then american kids do and thats shameful. u need to do some research on this because unless u live in a rich gated elite community and go to private school the public education system in the usa is very dismal and woefully inadequate. \nalso he's right about politics. here we can discuss it rationally and then move on to other topics. in the states ppl are shooting ppl over differences in politics. beating ppl up trashing their cars and property etc. and many police are definitely not presenting themselves with professionalism tons of racism going on. and so many police because everyone is armed. here in canada we are not allowed handguns and pretty much ppl only have hunting rifles. it takes a lot of work and clearance not to mention time and money to take the necessary classes and get the necessary permits to even own a hunting rifle. in the usa show a drivers license and wait 10 days u have a handgun no matter how mental u are. therefore u need way more police than here in canada. i think u have a well to do upbringing so u have not and do not see the true picture of the america u live in. \nalso i have talked to many american friends who had insurance and still cost them about $5000 per birth of a child. with good insurance and working full time. so thats about average. here in canada u pay nothing except maybe parking for hubby while he visits.

Lets keep i real. The desire that most immigrants have is homeostasis which is the familiar. All humans do this. Individually indians are usually smart and decent people. But in groups ( and this doesnt just include indians) you get this group thinking that is prejudice against anyone who isnt one of their own. Im fairly certain its a good demonstration of what a different culture would experience in their own country. With our low corruption goverments , our clean drinking water, our free health care and education system, with our opportunities that make it possible through merit and hard work that it doesnt matter what family or where you were born. These are attractive features of canada that play a role in why people want to come here. And leave where they were. Its it logical to think that you have more to learn about us then we do of you? Not being on some selfish punk shit is canadas greatest strength. Its that same inclusives mentality that keep the government corruption very small which empowers the citizens to make them successful and able to contribute more back into this system. The very nature of hoarding resources for ones family, same culture, etc are the same oppressive situations many of these people left their countries to seek better opportunities. But once given those opportunities and a chance to decide for themselves, a lot of these people use their liberties to create exclusion and hostility toward out groups. The indians do this in a very overt in your face way, the chinese are more polite about it but both have this way of looking out for their own and not being concerned with anyone else. As far as im conerned you should all be split up and dispersered to live in different provinces and cites. I know this isnt realitic but it would save them from what a lot of them are gunna end up be exposed to which is experiences with native born Canadians who are going to very rudly show you what happens when you disrespectf someone in their own home. \n\nThe party is over. I almost moved to the US with my parents when I was a kid but was crying because I didn’t want to go. I am so glad that we didn’t move there. We don’t want to go there for many reasons, free healthcare, a good education system because we pay our teachers well and have good quality teachers, we don’t carry guns and don’t want them, thereby our streets are safer. We don’t have mass murders, school killings and all that fear. We don’t have the racial and ethnic prejudice that there is in the US. I have travelled a lot for my company and personal to the US. I was scared and didn’t feel comfortable at all. We know so much more about US geography and history and the US knows nothing about us. Complete ignorance. Well I have no plans to ever visit again. I love our people, our freedom and our culture. We are nothing like the Americans (sorry). I am staying in my beautiful country! I feel safe and happy here! Consequences? I think Canadians are suffering the consequences of failed leadership just as we have here in the US. With the election of Donald Trump it's perfectly clear that the policies have changed here in the US. I wouldn't be too worried about the future of either countries at this stage. I predict by this time next year there we still be lights in my home, gas in my car, food on my table, and love in my heart for my Canadian brothers and sisters to the north. Future looks Bright! :)

And this may just be the beginning of a sprawling trade war, but make no mistake, Canada is not for sale, and Canada, despite its soft spoken nature, is determined to keep going on its own way. We have free trade with the EU and Pacific nations. For any US companies who find themselves caught up in tariffs for their export markets, consider setting up your export shop here, to keep your Canadian customers, and continue to have access to European and Asian markets under free trade agreements that are respected, and operate independently of any decision made by President Trump. Businesses need predictability and stability, and your neighbors to the north can provide that to all of your export markets.

Canadians have been dealing with the exact same issues these immigrants are dealing with, but nobody cared. Suddenly we bring in 5 million people on top and think it’ll work? Now Canadians are seeing immigrants complain about the lives we were already living and struggling with. They are complaining about how we have to live while choosing to come here and make it harder for all of us. They are literally just living a life as a normal Canadian and seeing it’s not fun and complaining. Canadians have been left behind by their own country in favour of Indians. Canada as we know it is done, it is in severe decline and the quality of life of all Canadians has suffered from this influx. At old age homes, Canadians are being passed up and made homeless in favour of new immigrants (all Indians), all low income jobs have been taken by Indians, locals youth can't get jobs. Indians are super racist towards white or latino people (like me), and they are not taking up Canadian customs and manners. Canada is being ruined by Indians. Canadians have been left behind. 1 in 6 people globally are indian. Their breeding is out of control, and they ALL want to come here for free healthcare, hand outs and fresh water. I mean, look what they've done to India, Canada is next. It is all ready in severe decline, and quality of life is at the lowest ever because of this.
