I'm European and I really can't understand how you can make an economic trade war with an ally like Canada, a close and so friendly neighbor.... A dumb decision not only for the W Post... And all of this will end up heavily impacting Americans as well, also because besides Canada there is Mexico, China and the whole of Europe. In such a war there are no winners.... I really hope that the American people understand this and start fighting for this nonsense to end. \nAnd when I then hear President Trudeau called governor.... Well I get even more angry. This shows even more (but there was no need) who trump is. A suburban bully. A rude man. An unscrupulous man who passes over everything and everyone.\nAmerica is turning into something I no longer recognize....\n\nKeep going Canada!

It's almost as if Trudeau doesn't even know who Donald Trump is! Speaking to him directly and addressing him as Donald instead of President Trump is a blatant show of disrespect. \n\nGuess what Canada. We don't need you for ANYTHING! As a Canadian who lives in (largely French-speaking) Quebec, I don't know if our gov't even NEEDS to tariff American consumer goods, the people here are already boycotting US goods and companies en masse. EVERYBODY is doing it - and the pace isn't going to recede anytime soon. Even after the Orange Turd is long gone, trust me, Canadians will remember this! The American state has proven it cannot be trusted. They have unilaterally broken the trade agreement (negotiated by the previous Donald J Chump administration) on the flimsiest of reasons, the 00.2 % of fentanyl that flows over the border into the US from Canada. That deal now obviously not worth the paper it was signed on.

Canada is already owned by USA. All our major businesses are American owned. We even sold our Fighters Jets, oil, lumber and natural resources for pennies. The Canadian people need tax cuts. The native Canadians live without clean water in Reserves all across northern Canada in third world conditioms. All the goverment projects go to mafia groups who run the construction industry and tied to federal governments. Who is the bad guy? Canada already taxes US imports at an average of 25%, so these US tariffs only balance the playing field. All that said, like Zelensky, Trudeau seems to forget that Canada needs the US, but the US doesn't need Canada. He says that it is going to be tough in Canada; true. Let me explain the trading relationship briefly that occurs between Canada and the US for context. \n \nCanada Has a LOT of natural resources, more than our domestic manufacturing base needs (Uranium fuel, Lumber/paper products, Steel and other metals, Fertilizer for farms...etc). Therefore we sell those raw materials to the states where they are manufactured into goods, which we then buy back. a LOT of American service companies like tech, media (And yes, even banks)...etc also operates in Canada as well. (For the auto sector the parts flip back and forth across the border like 8 times) \n \nThis relationship alone has the American economy see a large trade surplus with Canada, however there is another element to it: Energy. \n \nCanada is also home to a LARGE amount of really cheap renewable hydro power in the east, and a LOT of oil in the west, due to a lack of infrastructure we really can only sell that oil to the states and therefore it is done at a discount. America refines this cheap oil into gas and is a large part of the reason why American gas is so cheap. They use this energy to power the same factories mentioned above. (Oh and also the NE states import a lot of that clean hydro electricity for the same reasons) \n \nThe US Buys SO MUCH of that cheap energy from us to power your industrial base, that it swings the numbers on the trade balance into a small deficit for the USA. (41 billion out of a TRILLION dollars total trade, or about -4.1% of total trade so literally a pretty small deficit) It also swing back and forth every year so \n \nThen comes Trump. He wants Canada as a 51st state and own the entire continent, therefore he manufactures an excurse that our border is leaky and that migrants and fentanyl are flowing over. (In actual case migrants and the flow of Fent is about 1% the amount that's crossing at the Mexico border but he needs an excuse) \n \nHe therefore puts 25% tariffs on us. Those tariffs will hit Canada harder than the 2008 financial crisis just for scale. \n \nOh and also for the most part American Refineries literally cant process any other oil than ours or Venezuela's because its thicker so tariffs on our oil will also really increase the priced of energy in the states by a huge amount just for the LOLs. As we've seen during the post covid recovery, since gas is priced in to the supply chain at every step (Manufacturing, transportation...etc), any increase at the pump will snowball into higher costs for everything at the store, on top of the extra cost of the tariffs on consumers. (Since every step will need to add it into their markup.)

Canada should intensify their affiliation to europe. The US is sliding into an autocracy, and their government can’t be trusted any longer. They align themselves with Russia, north Korea and China, and they are willing to throw their former friends and allies under the bus to please their new „partners“. Trudeau is scheduled to meet with Trump in a few days. Why is that? Canada will meet Trump's demands on fentanyl and tariffs; and America will profit in the short and long term. Stop believing the fake news who does nothing but create fake chaos no matter what Trump does. These tariffs do not affect our country in any way over the short term. The only reason that the markets are tumbling is because the fake news wants to create panic when there is none. Same thing with Zelensky. You idiots are rooting for a war to continue because Trump is mean. Zelensky is ready to work for peace because the mean guy yelled at him. Wake up idiots! Anyway, I’m gonna tell you about my cancer story.\nTwo years ago at the age of about 53-54, I realize that I hadn’t had a mammogram in a long time because I’ve moved cities so I was on the list but in another city. So I decided I need to go get a mammogram. I contacted my GP and he gave me a referral within a couple of weeks. I had my mammogram. They didn’t like it within a week. They did it again. They didn’t like it. They decided to do an ultrasound. And still, they found areas that they were not happy with. So within another week, they did two biopsies. And they came back as cancer cells that had not gotten together yet to create a tumor. So it’s called stage zero cancer. Within two weeks I was in surgery where they took out everything they needed to and I was told that I have good margins. I then had six weeks of radiation. Five days a week for six weeks.\n\nSo about nine months after that and that healing, I had a referral to a plastic surgeon. She reduced my other breast so that I was even. That was about eight months ago. And this week I had a further reduction, call it a fine-tuning, to further ensure that I was even.\n\nThis was all done in Montreal Quebec Canada. \nI paid zero dollars, except a few times I may have paid six bucks for parking. \n\nI am cancer free. I’ve gone from a double D to a B, which you know is better than dying. I am so happy that I live here.

Most illegal migrants spend thousands of dollars to commit the crime (entering any sovereign country illegally is simply an invasion). If they dare to enter China or any of the Arab countries this way, then who knows, they would be in heaven or hell rather than back home. All the deportees should be arrested on reaching back home for invading a foreign sovereign country and tarnishing the images of hundreds of millions of citizens of their countries who enter the USA or any other developed democratic country to study at the best of the universities, and after completion of the courses, they are not only provided the best of the jobs but also citizenship or other legal status to stay put in the countries. But these people reach their desired destination after going through rigorous educational and other processes and after a thorough background check. But in the matter of illegal immigrants, how are the victimized countries supposed to know their backgrounds? How can one be sure if they are not hardcore criminals, terrorists, spies, or even trained soldiers of enemy countries? In such uncertainty, how can the invaded countries be sure that an incident or incidents of such a large magnitude might not take place that, in comparison, the incident of 9/11 would look like the small incident of bursting firecrackers?But on one election promise, the president is, unfortunately, taking a complete U-turn that those students who do the master's and other higher studies should be retained and provided legal status to stay in the country as their contributions are needed to give the country the perpetual cutting edge in the highly competitive world and keep the country's status as number one. These scholars are feeling cheated that by spending huge amounts of money and contributing to the research and development during the studies, they have not only been taken for a ride but also become the main target of the deportation campaign as their status is available with the government. On the other hand, millions of undocumented workers are comparatively safe, as tracing and deporting them is not an easily achievable task. Besides, millions of foreign citizens are given entry into the country on flimsy grounds, and many of them do not even ever go to elementary school. I think even God would not be able to make out what the fuck this country has become on this issue. Almost the same is the situation with most of the EU countries, the UK, Australia, and Canada.

Canada needs more strict visa requirements. The. Fact you can just come on visitor visa or study visa and stay most international students don’t even show up for school. Canada needs to stop giving out visas like it’s Halloween Candy. 500,000 international students went missing they came into Canada were supposed to go back after there end date and went missing . The system is broken . Many get a visa to study or get a tourist visa and DONT LEAVE. They are mostly staying with relatives that are Canadian. And they work in cash . This is what’s really happening. Many bring falls work experience and fake work papers from back home

Int'l law requires/allows: 1. Asylum seekers apply for asylum in the first valid country they enter. 2. Thus, those Asylum seekers entering America from or having passed through Canada or Mexico, etc. can be returned to the last valid asylum allowing country or be returned to any other they passed through... 3. This was always going to occur. Shut down the southern border and people will try to get in through the north. As I understand it, we don't have the same deportation laws with Canada as we do with Mexico. This needs to be dealt with and Canada needs to step up. I live in a norther border state and my younger brother died of fentanyl. I am fed up with it. I love Canada and remembering crossing the border without even a passport as a kid, but this is no longer acceptable.

Please stay away from Canada I moved here and I regret it every day. I'm a citizen through my parents and getting my certificate took YEARS which stopped me from being able to go to school or work which means years of my adult life wasted that could have been put to much better use for something that wasn't even my fault. I also lost good opportunities too because of it!!!! Not happy especially since I genuinely needed the money. I won't forgive Canada for that. Also everything here is really expensive and the selection is just not very good. Also work opportunities are not as good as in the US. Anyways I finally got my certificate and got my life started up again just over 2 years ago, but I still often think of returning to the US after just being here for 4.5 years. I now warn some of my US friends not to go to Canada just for the hype if they mention it. I also know of a friend who moved here and left after 1 year, they came to hate it here.

I lived in Montana for five years moving from Ontario Canada. I returned after five years because your legal system is a joke. Healthcare is so expensive living in Canada’s way. Better get free healthcare which to me is the number one top thing.Canada has free health care everyone in need can get welfare low income housing the disabled have disabled people a paycheque each month that covers their bills and food costs. I came back when I had my daughter her dad‘s in Montana. I am in Canada now. I lived there for five years and the people are very judgmental. I find and drugs are so much more accessible in the US. tyler i don't think u realize how bad the usa education system really is. i'm canadian but have lost count of the number of usa teachers who have complained about how bad they are held back from teaching kids properly, how kids can't be failed or held back, how kids graduating gr 12 can't read or write past gr 6 level. in fact recently there was a statistic put out that something like 60% of ALL americans cant read or write past gr 6. considering all your universities that is terrifying. not to mention with gun violence, straight up violence among kids and at teachers, the disrespect and the severe lack of good parenting, kids are not being educated at all. u yourself have done videos on where someone interviews americans and asked them questions about canada and they haven't got a clue. not one clue. yet canadian kids are regularly taught all about their american neighbours. are kids know more about america then american kids do and thats shameful. u need to do some research on this because unless u live in a rich gated elite community and go to private school the public education system in the usa is very dismal and woefully inadequate. \nalso he's right about politics. here we can discuss it rationally and then move on to other topics. in the states ppl are shooting ppl over differences in politics. beating ppl up trashing their cars and property etc. and many police are definitely not presenting themselves with professionalism tons of racism going on. and so many police because everyone is armed. here in canada we are not allowed handguns and pretty much ppl only have hunting rifles. it takes a lot of work and clearance not to mention time and money to take the necessary classes and get the necessary permits to even own a hunting rifle. in the usa show a drivers license and wait 10 days u have a handgun no matter how mental u are. therefore u need way more police than here in canada. i think u have a well to do upbringing so u have not and do not see the true picture of the america u live in. \nalso i have talked to many american friends who had insurance and still cost them about $5000 per birth of a child. with good insurance and working full time. so thats about average. here in canada u pay nothing except maybe parking for hubby while he visits.

When I go to the hospital in Canada I don't have to wait if people think that then they're wrong and then I get treated and don't pay a thing so I hope Americans understand that they pay thousands of dollars for healthcare that most Canadians can walk in and get for free,, yes it comes off our taxes but everybody in the country taste those taxes even if they don't use Healthcare so it helps people that are really in need

This is a good example that shows that Canada has poor rule of law. That is poor for business confidence. Things need to change. Honestly, when she was overdue by even a few months, the landlord should be allowed to force an eviction through a tenancy board. I really feel for the landlord. She is a scam artist. How can she sleep at night?

Many students leaving Canada came without proper research, seeking only white-collar jobs but ending up at Tim Hortons. Nursing, constrution jobs, rulal jobs, has no issues here, and there’s no need to go back. Still, many Indian parents only want to say their child is an engineer or doctor, not a nurse or construction worker—despite these jobs being well-paid and in demand. Canada is more than just Toronto, Vancouver, and Calgary—there are entire provinces most international students don’t even know exist. Move there early, not at the last minute! Change your mindset, be flexible, and you will succeed!

The problem is throughout the Anglo World, USA, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand, we are allowing millions of immigrants from the third world, when in fact if AI is going to take 70/80pct of jobs in the future we do not need immigrants from the third world at all. The fewer people we have, the more wealthy we are. The other problem is allowing immigrants from non-compatible cultures of people who do not share our values, culture, religion, or way of life, they generally live in their own areas, speak their own language, and do not/cannot integrate into society, most consider themselves as Indian, not Canadian because like for instance in the UK where we have similar or worse problems, they can never be English, or Scottish, or Welsh or Northern Irish. We are not and never have been nations of ''communities'', we are Canadian, American British, and Australian, but we are all connected in our Judeo-Christian roots, values, culture, and way of life, the vast majority of these third-world immigrants can never be part of what we are. That causes resentment, even jealousy, and one day it will end badly

We need to walk away from the USA. Canada needs to build a Canadian vehicle line rather than anything from the USA. We need our own micro chip factory. We need to partner directly with other trading partners, even if it’s at a cost

Canada needs to get all new trading partners, they need to look to Europe, Asia, and other countries. There are other markets out there, especially in the EU, where they are no longer getting energy from Russia. If Canada shows any weakness Trump will hit Canada even harder, the only why Canada stays strong and comes out ahead, is to be strong. Canada will suffer for a while, but with new trade partners, Canada will be much better off.

I am a Canadian in Alberta and the reality is that the Liberals have weakened the Canadian economy and our standing in the world. Their decision to cripple our oil and gas industry and our lack of ability export our products elsewhere in the world is an issue created by the policies of the Liberals. To impose a carbon tax and further weaker the average Canadian is terrible. There are some policies I don't like out of the U.S. but the reality is that it is never an idea to pick a fight with the toughest kid on the block knowing you will lose. Trump doesn't even want the tariffs he wants Canada to pull it's weight in defense spending and cooperation. Trudeau backstabbed Trump in the past and that won't be forgotten. We need a new government with a leader that understands more than being a drama teacher and snowboarder. Unfortunately, most of the significant issues Canada faces is the result of self inflicted wounds resulting from incompetent leadership. We didn't have anywhere close this level of issues with the Harper government. We are lucky to have the U.S. as a neighbor so let's do what is good for both nations but there is no way the woke Liberal's can do it.

For the vast majority of Americans, including Trump who don't know this: \n- 90% of all aluminum used in the USA comes from Canada. \n- 80% of the potash used to grow food on US farms comes from Canada. \n- Steel is made in Canada. - Uranium is exported from Canada. \n- Minerals needed for electronics are exported from Canada. The only alternatives are China and Russia. \n- 60% of all imported oil in the US comes from Canada. \n- Electricity produced in Canada is delivered to the states of New York, Vermont, Maine and over 20 other US states. We’ll soon find out if convicted felon Trump and his supporters need Canada when that electricity gets turned off. If Trump can rip our mutually-negotiated agreements so can Canada. We did not ask for this economic war nor did we start it. Trump did. \n \nIt's also time to super-tax every pound of US coal being exported through Roberts Bank Super-port in Delta, British Columbia, Canada. The American coal exported through Roberts Bank does not even pay a provincial carbon tax like all BC residents pay. Canadians are about to show Trump what happens when you consistently lie and stab your best customer and neighbour in the back. We are not afraid of Trump. Canada is the second-largest country in the world by land area and we have the longest coastline in the world, with over 243,000 kilometers of shoreline. We will continue expanding our trade with Pacific Rim countries, Europe, Mexico and beyond. They all need and want our lumber, minerals, oil and gas, grass fed beef, and the dependable, respectful trading partner that we are.

Americans don’t seem to understand that all the “cool things to do and see in the USA” you don’t need to actually live in the USA to enjoy those we can just get on a plane and fly to those places for vacation just like Americans do. We had our honeymoon on Oahu, stayed two weeks in a VRBO in Waianaie with all the native Hawaiians, rented a jeep, drove around, saw all the things, felt bad for all the service workers who live only on tips under labor laws that a third world dictatorship wouldn’t even subject its people to.\n\nNotice how all the things Canadians criticize America for it’s for being needlessly cruel and horrible to people when there’s the option to be compassionate and supportive and ethical?\n\nBut then every thing Americans criticize Canada for it’s for being “too compassionate”, “too supportive”, “too caring” when the option American say we should have taken instead was the the option of unnecessary cruelty?

Trudeau will make another’everyones welcome in Canada,’ proclamation,no need to enter through the back door to gain entry to the U.S.Come to Canada,within days of arriving you can be driving a truck,or even have a job working for government,if your Punjabi.

2000 is not enough. Canada could use a pause on all immigration for 2 years. Maybe longer. FOCUS ON SUPPORTS FROM OUR TAX DOLLARS TO HELP CANADIANS. Instead... there giving our money to newcomers when Canadians desperatly need help. Scam through Service Canada and Service ON that fund Employment service, agencies etc. I couldn't believe what I witnessed and even experienced.

A lot of Indians treat white people really badly. Especially when there is money involved. It’s now extremely common that people here hate dealing with Indians as customers of their business and will go as far as avoid it altogether. They will often relentlessly try to negotiate services, lie and say anything to get get their way, pester businesses until they cave to their demands and even leave bad reviews which they say they will change if you give them a good deal. None of this is the way things are done in Canada and that needs to be respected. Something kind of funny, I’ve heard many people say that Indians will often say they will refer tons of friends and family to a business if you give them an unreasonable discount (which they never do once they’ve gotten what they want), but what they don’t realize is that referring a bunch more Indians to them is the last thing that business wants. And really, some of the discounts they want on things are just ridiculous. When I was selling my car a few years ago, I had it listed for $55,000 and I got bombarded by Indians offering $20,000-$25,000 and every lie under the sun of why that’s all it was worth, other people are saying yes to offers like that for the same car, dealerships are selling them for that much and so on. Like come on. And I guess while I’m at it, I hate to say but it’s a common thing here to walk into a gas station and the smell of body odour just hits you like a brick. I’ve stopped going to 3 different stations because of it. I’m sure there’s some pungent white people out there but damn. This is on a whole other level. It literally fills the entire building.

Indian news, and particularly your commentaries, are just nationalistic rants. You need to speak the truth and explain the real reasons why Indians have a hard time getting visas for Western and developed countries. The largest number of illegal immigrants in the US, Canada and Western Europe are Indians. Many Indians have no intention of returning to India. You should at least mention this, but not even mention this factor shows you are just tightening nationalistic sentiments,

You remember on covid inoculation certicate our country had Modis picture instead of the certificate holder. Every traveller was ridiculed. Canada recently stated that there were 20000 Indians on student visa who did not show up at college, London from 8/1/25 even if you are in transit going somewhere else you need a visa which is difficult to get Germany and America are in the process of deporting thousands of Indians . In the Gulf countries everyday hundreds of free visa Indians are rounded up and deported. Gradually the world is learning who we are and from which crooked country we are.

I live in Canada. A citizen now, love this country but India is and will always be a home. Canada is facing hard times currently, which is being faced by every country now and then but even the cause root of all these problems Canada is facing right now is coming from somehow from India. The most disruptive and disturbing people are here from India only with no civic sense. They come here and do not value the Canadian culture at all. They do all sort of illegal activities and try to do jugaad in everything, from which we escaped from India. Even on political grounds, the man who somehow messed up everything was under the influence and pressure of the man having Indian roots. I love India without a doubt but we can’t deny the real facts why Indians are being hated everywhere. People in my community here ( whites, First Nations, old Indians) love me and my family because they know how we respect the culture and values and laws of Canada. But there, where people don’t know us personally, we get judgemental eyes because of our colour and we know why, it’s not all of us, but still majority of us have destroyed the image of India and yes Indians deserve to be banned now. We need skills and knowledge and we should class apart from the stupid ones.

They are violating there visa they should be kicked out it’s crazy how they all move to Brampton…. There are other places you know they are international students you are supposed to come to study then. Leave . Most people that come to study in Canada from different countries they leave after graduation. You can even check the m number of people from different countries that leave and most do only people from\nIndia so leave . Canada is not all that great it’s good most of the time high taxes . . They abused the food bank system . We need less immigration that’s what this is basically a back door into the country most of them don’t really study anything worth studying. Canada has a shortage of doctors and most don’t even study MD?‍♀️. These noun credited colleges make so much money from these students. It’s a big fat business .

Tyler there are 600 mass shootings in the U.S each year which is almost 2 a day per average and while they do not all take place in schools, how many mass shootings are tolerable? As long as Americans like yourself dismiss all the data to the contrary the U.S will continue to have the tragedies it does, When you look up mass shootings which is where there are more than 2 victims per incident you'll find Canada doesn't even register in those statistics because where the U.S has 600 mass shootings a year Canada hasn't had 600 in its last 100 years. So that is why Canadians mention school shootings as a reason, because the potential is real for it to happen. It is preventable tragedy but Americans as a whole need to want that change, until it does the rest of the world will always bring up gun violence and school shootings when the U.S is in the discussion.
