I don’t think anybody of non colour or visible minority would ever understand how racism is prevalent. Which I do understand. In my opinion Canada is a much more accepting than many other western countries and systemic racism is less prevalent. As a Muslim man I feel pretty lucky but my mom has many stories of suspected race based descions by people in power whether be an officer, judge or store clerk. I am sure not all of them were, however definitely some were.

I dunno if it's just the way my tv works but I could definitely see that man's face and I could easily identify him if I went to that business.

He looks like the definition of a Kyle that you would've seen drinking a Monster Energy Drink and charging at Area 51 while screaming Leeroy Jenkins.

systemic racism is definitely a thing in the US, but Canada really? have you even been to Toronto? there aren't even enough white people to perpetrate such a system...

I live in Quebec for 30 years. Racism here is hidden and personal but nepotism is definitely omnipresent.

When you say Canada, Focus on Toronto, \nI live in BC, Peaceful people over here. Obviously there’s people that is indoctrinated but I don’t see even quarter of what going on in the states,\nbut we definitely need the government and media to stop separating us. We can’t do without each other.\n\nMakes me see more and more that America working itself down to be a fallen land.

Racism was far more prevalent in Canada decades ago. I remember hearing stories from my aunts and uncles about the types of things that would happen when they first arrived in the country. People would heckle and threaten visible minorities. \n\nBut I can say I have personally never experienced systemic racism in Canada. This country gave my family and I opportunity, safety and a just system. I was born and raised in Canada, and this is my home. There is no other country I would want to live in.\n\nLong live Canada and what it stands for. God bless this land.\n\n\nEdit: I forgot to add that the post secondary program I graduated from had a disproportionately high percentage of students belonging to visible minorities. This is the case with similar programs across Canada. One could argue Caucasian students are grossly underrepresented in this program. Does this not fit the definition of systemic racism stated in this video?

Honestly, it's hard to say. These men are not equal in looks in my opinion. There's something to say about attractive people getting preferential treatment. Not that there isn't racism. There definitely is. But it's hard to quantify with these experiments.

Systemic racism, indeed, but thanks to a consistent lens upon it over the last 30-40 years, it is diminishing. A meritocracy fulfilled by classism that requires a lower-middle class and a poverty class to sustain itself definitely exists. And, is a much much bigger problem here in Canada.

This issue is very very complex actually. When we even try to define systemic racism the definition itself does not give justice. it also involves a lot of quid pro quos and cronyism. it's a demon which is very hard to exercise from society...like Azazel from 'Fallen'

A lot of you are quite dense so here’s the definition of systemic racism:\n\nSystemic Racism includes the policies and practices entrenched in established institutions, which result in the exclusion or promotion of designated groups. It differs from overt discrimination in that no individual intent is necessary. (Toronto Mayor's Committee on Community and Race Relations. Race Relations: Myths and Facts)\n\nIt manifests itself in two ways:\n\ninstitutional racism: racial discrimination that derives from individuals carrying out the dictates of others who are prejudiced or of a prejudiced society\nstructural racism: inequalities rooted in the system-wide operation of a society that excludes substantial numbers of members of particular groups from significant participation in major social institutions. (Henry & Tator, 2006, p. 352)

The problem seems to be that the premier’s don’t know the definition of systemic racism. Systemic racism is about institutions, governments, banks, schools, etc limiting access to minorities all minorities. It’s worse in Canada than it is in the US. Look at Canada how many black are in people if government are represented in the government. Look at the companies you work for how many minorities are CEO’s or CFO’s how many VP’s. This is why I say it’s worse in Canada than the US, cause at least in the US upward mobility is not limited to only one minority group but all visible minorities.

Definition of Defund: prevent from continuing to receive funds.\n\nLet's call this what it is. A movement to abolish police. I'm a POC and it's sad that so many are blinded by hate and stupidity, to see what's going on.

i am an older white woman living in an apartment complex for people who have lost everything. i lost my entire $750k retirement. i have lived here for 10 years. the population is \n15% white women over 50 \n10% black women over 50, \n5% white men under 50 \n2% white women under 50\n3% black women under 50 \n65% black men under 50\ni have been sick so i havent been out of my apartment. but i am concerned. i dont know many people. the ones i know accept and know me as i am know to not be concerned \nbut i am afraid when i leave here, people are going to look for my prejudice based on current events\nthat test sounds like it will make you sound prejudiced. thats a loaded question\nDo you believe black as can have it as good as whites if they try harder\nhow do you answer that without sounding bad\nyes i believe that is true - definitely a bad answer\nno i dont think thats true sounds like i dont think blacks can have it as good. \ni worked for BDMi in Houston\nfor 4 yearsa not one bl;ack was hired because the original partner, retired who owned the building would not permit it.\nit was blatant\nafter 4 years i had it, i reported it to the eeoc people, they said they couldnt do anything. nothing happened except i was 'let go'c

If you want to know the definition and criteria of racism actions, and solutions for this problem, study what prophet Muhammad taught to muslims. As far as I know only Islam who explicitly address this issue and give you solution to your problems. Dont forget, learn and get lessons from Islam. It's absolutely awesome.

I think everyone has their own bias / opinion for any person. Regardless if they are the same race or different. People of the same race can dress differently and people will have different opinions. All we can do is to be our best not to behave in a rude or hurtful way. And I feel for the most part, in major multicultural areas, Canadians are doing their part. \nSome of the tests in the video seem a bit too high level. It's not really scientific. You can't make any definite conclusions from it.

Canadian here in Toronto. Thanks for the video Drew. Very accurate. We're similar in so many ways but there are definitely differences. Today was the day I was supposed to fly to China to take a tour in North Korea. Yes you heard that right. YouTubers like you and similar others have inspired me to try different destinations and experiences. However, that will have to be out on hold for the time being... :(

Canada definitely has the best maple syrup compared to Vermont maple syrup
|

As a Canadian, the food part is a bit exaggerated lol. Although poutine and maple syrup are very Canadian, pizza and burgers definitely are important here in Canada, and arguably more popular.

I can definitely feel a big difference when driving from Detroit to Toronto, a hour drive. I think the difference is bigger than the difference I experienced when driving from Vienna to Budapest, two very different countries economically.

First lets define racists what the definition means to me It is when a person discriminates against a race of people .Many people use the word to get attention or use it when they do not get their way so i am defining the diffenition meaning see we back for me in early 1960s discriminated against black people so the word became racists laws were passed to protect and change that discrimination that took place so has it changed yes it has

Thank you for covering this topic. I hope you guys do more segments like this. As a person of colour living in Canada I can definitely relate to the things that were said. I agree, the burden of change should not just be put on the shoulders of POC. Great discussion!

While there was definitely bias and some sort of discrimination at times...you haven't proven that any or all are directly related to race.\nNot that they aren't, as they could very well be.

They are definitely NOT victims, and deportation is only fair to other honest and legal immigrants. Make them pass a language exam of at least junior high school level, like that they'll know they can't just pay their way into the life in a free and democratic country.

Racism does NOT surround us. Racism, by definition requires more than one Race to be involved in order for discrimination based on Race to happen. Discrimination CAN happen based on skin color, cultural background, language spoken, country of origin, heritage of ancestors. That is true. None of that however indicates a different Race of people, it only highlights superficial differences in appearance. It is time to end the idea that Racism based on race exists, because claiming discrimination based on Race is the first step to basic Human Rights violations. The Human Race is the only Race of people on the planet.

Is he the brother of a khalistani who became some high politician recently, and if he is attending some muslim community gathering then that definitely has to be a Pakistani gathering ! That's why he is saying if some one calls Sikh a muslim , don't respond that ur not. What a joke ! , I condemn what he said about Sikhs, A proud Sikh can never be called a muslim, if he is agreeing to it he is surely part of pak propaganda machinery. And that Canadian is rightfully asking him if he supports SHARIA , and why is he attending such a gathering? . Besides answering he just ran away from a serious question that his fellow politician was asking ?????

Why would muslim refugees want to migrate to countries that have alcohol , beer and dont practise halal food preparation ? There will definitely problems adapting and frustration , because of the limited outlets they can go to eat . They should seek refuge in countries that are compatible to their culture. Why are muslim nations not accepting them ? Are they deliberately doing this , for the reasons that are so obvious by now?
