Honestly, the worst thing about the US, whether you're travelling or in a major city, is everything is so poorly designed and spread out. If you need to drive in a vehicle for over two hours just to get to one part of a city to another, not even including traffic being bad but just because of the streets and highways you gotta take, you're living in a ****ty city.

You guys are out of touch. Not sure where you live but Ontario is less safe than the US in my opinion, and it correlates with the lack of self defense/firearms rights. Our population is 10x less and many urban areas aren't as densely populated as their American counterparts, so of course crime rates will be lower. That doesn't mean they're not still significant and rising at alarming rates. You can't even use your registered firearm to legally protect your home, let alone us pepper spray to defend yourself from a rapist. People are given the illusion of being safer, when in reality they are extremely vulnerable and defenseless.

I lived in the Philippines for 27 years and we always lock our houses even when we're inside the house coz people (junkies, psychopaths, crazies) just force themselves inside and try to mug us for our belongings and we can't even report it because some u police are crooked, lazy and corrupt. But once i migrated to winnipeg (considered as the murder capital of Canada), i felt safer, believe it or not. I tend to forget locking/closing my garage door and once i come back, everything's still there, nothing gone, considering that i live in the north end (one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in winnipeg). Plus, everyone's just so damn friendly and welcoming. Love it here! But i still prefer living in the Philippines despite being not as safe. Home will always be home.

It's cheaper to live in Dallas Texas than Montreal, which is one of the cheapest cities to live in Canada, so I don't know where you're getting lower cost of living (and yeah I heard you're trying to compare apples to apples, but this is impossible and honestly, wtf would someone want to live in a crime ridden city like NYC? I’m traveling rn, so I talk to a lot of internationals about the pros and cons of American. The greatest pros would be we are definitely the land of opportunity, so if you want make a lot of money there’s no country better. The people also have this optimism about the future that’s not as prevalent around the world, and the country is very diverse which means you can find a state that matches you want. However the downsides would be the stark wealth inequality, and lackluster healthcare. The polarization between the left and right, and the crazy urban sprawl which you never get used to.\n I think the inequality is due to us having this bootstraps mentality when it comes to success. Whenever I tell other Americans how lucky I am they’re quick to say that it’s all due to my worth ethic, but life is a lot more nuanced. Regardless I still love my country, and can’t see myself living anywhere else. ??

First things first I think you’re misunderstanding about what food deserts are in America food deserts are considered with poor neighborhoods. Don’t have quality grocery stores. Yeah, they might have fast food restaurants all around them, but everyone knows it is not healthy to eat that stuff every day the nearest quality grocery store could be 7 to 10 miles away and if you don’t have a car you’re SOL (shit outta luck) number two. segregated communities in America is done on purpose so that the ruling class can keep the masses divided this is how they stay on top you know the old saying goes divide and conquer they keep us apart, and they also have a strong branch of the government called media, which perpetrates, bad news more than they uphold good news especially when another race is involved in a crime hurting another race. I used to drink water straight out of the tap (and water hose) when growing up in Connecticut. Living in the DFW area, and all the water tastes like garbage - filter 100% required! Also, American CONSUMERISM - the desire to buy, buy, buy with only caring about 'brand' or 'status' (and neglecting quality) has put us where we're at today. I've already told my wife we're moving to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan later in life.

You can't compare Montreal to LA lol. LA is 3.8 million people and LA county is 9.8 million. Montreal is 1.8 and the entire Province of Quebec has less population than that single county by more than a million people. \n\nGo to Jefferson County Kentucky. Louisville is a similar size population and you're looking at a drastically lower cost of living. \n\nOf course LA is super expensive. You were right when you said the US is like 50 different countries. But you don't have to go to super rural areas to find low costs of living.

As a native New Yorker from (NYC), whose lived in the north part of the state near the border between Canada and the US. Who would visits Ottawa and Montreal frequently, I enjoyed every time I went up north. The “ruff women” are in NYC. They’re a product of the environment ruff city ruff people, everyone is always in a rush and with an attitude. The water in both Montreal and Ottawa is amazing!!! Both tap and from the bottle. I felt safer walking at night in Montreal and Ottawa then in NYC which is hilarious.

Like you said in the beginning of the video, the US really is like 50 different countries. Your experiences are so vastly different depending on where you are. Obviously there’s rude people everywhere, but I live in the Northeast, and people are especially douchy in this part of the country. Like, you gotta be on high alert because things can go from 0 to 100 real quick. One minute you’re at a stop light, the next you got someone following you into a parking lot threatening you because they had a rough day at work. However, when I’ve been to the South, I’ve met some of the most relaxed and kind people you’d ever meet.

I think this is a very Montreal centric view - public transport, safety and cost of living in montreal is honestly the best in Canada. Definitely not true for other cities (I live in Ottawa for example - COL and Public Transport are both pretty terrible here)\n\nBut I definitely would live in Canada over the US lol, as soon as you cross the border you can tell you’re not in Canada anymore

I believe in decriminalizing drugs, but giving them drugs is not a good thing. It's been a disaster in US cities like San Francisco. Tax payers shouldn't pay for people's drugs. Just because a bank has all white leadership doesn't mean they are racist. They worked their way up to those positions, you're not entitled to a leadership position because you're a racial minority.

First let me say that every country and I do mean every single one has their pluses and minuses Canada's major plus is the fact that crime is almost nonexistent as opposed to the United States where there is a mass murder every single day and a mass murder defined as four or more people killed in One Time by one person this does not even count where there is just two or three people killed at one time they're not included in the statistics the United States is out of control with violence guns you name it and I've lived here for 40 years I spent the first 20 years in Canada in my life was so perfect that I can't even dream of a better life the problem with most people is they move to the larger cities Vancouver Toronto I grew up 40 miles outside of Montreal on the great Majestic St Lawrence River one of the truly great rivers in this world my parents had a summer home on the river and every summer it was water skiing fishing boating golfing swimming you name it growing up 40 miles outside of Montreal if you wanted The Nightlife of Montreal one of the great International cities in this world then you could just drive there in less than an hour and enjoy the great nightlife that is Montreal as someone who is French and Italian I loved the winters because ice hockey was my favorite sport and I played all the sports nothing even comes close to the speed skill and excitement of ice hockey it is like soccer on steroids they're only two cold months during the winter January and February and even then it's really enjoyable as long as the temperature stayed below 32° I was happy because that meant that they could make outdoor ice rinks and I could enjoy my favorite sport of ice hockey all winter long Outdoors as someone who's lived all over the United States over the last 40 years I wouldn't trade Canada for any place else the United States is full of scammers I've been in all kinds of businesses working for different companies and there's rarely a company that I didn't get cheated by and had to take to the labor board for justice and compensation I trust nobody the main thing here is stay away from the major cities of Vancouver and Toronto and you will be able to have a great life with affordable housing and if you're into the outdoors Sports Canada is the greatest and best secondly Canada has the third largest oil reserves in the world and so there are a lot of Natural Resources that Canada has that is wealth for the country that will filter down to the average person what people don't realize is it when you live I've lived in Southern United States and most places the summers are unbelievably excruciatingly suffocatingly miserably hot hot hot at least in the Colder Weather you just put on some great looking ski wear and you can be outdoors and not be bothered by the cold because you eventually a climatize yourself to it Canada is the second largest country in the world by land area and has only a 35 million population there is a lot of room for growth and opportunity and in a safe safe environment to raise a family and at the end of the day that's what it's all about I wish I could say the same for the United States being safe but no it is not and Mexico is they have six out of the top 10 most dangerous cities in the world and Tijuana is the most dangerous city in the world with almost 2000 murders and the year is not over don't believe me just Google it the reality is that the drug cartels control everything in Mexico and the police and politicians are afraid because the cartels are so ruthless there is way too much money to be made in selling drugs and the cartels will stop at nothing to make sure they get their money by the way most of my family still lives in Canada and are doing extremely well for themselves and I am the only fool that moved to the US

By the way, I actually haven't lived in Canada myself for about a decade now. Also - my mother was a doctor in her country, but wasn't allowed to practice medicine in Canada for almost her whole career, despite us desperately needing qualified doctors. It's just crazy. So many doctors immigrate to Canada, and yet they're not allowed to practice. They should at least allow doctors who have studied abroad to write a qualifying test to practice medicine so everyone can benefit. But most medical associations are very protective of their professional turf.

You're not correct about the Quebec government banning the hijab - actually they ban all forms of religious expression in clothes worn at work by public servants - so don't criticize us unless you get the facts straight. All countries are facing public health crisis especially in the aftermath of a global pandemic, you mention how long it could take to get an MRI - weeks/months, but it's no worse than in the UK, or other western countries. I do agree with you about limited competition in banking and tech - but we're still a young and growing country, however, look at the global recession that took place in 2007 - Canada was least affected by mortgage default, the US was hit the worst and hundreds of thousands had their homes foreclosed by the Banks, yet in Canada because of our strict banking policies we were saved and the Banks worked with defaulters to try to keep their homes. Taxes, well most countries require you to file your own taxes at the end of the year - what's so strange about that? Yes sales tax is added onto the sales price depending on what province and what you are purchasing, same as US, just because it's not the same in Europe doesn't mean it's worse! Listen, when you're a newcomer to any country you need to fit in when looking for a job, put in the effort, take the time, do the work, any country is going to expect you to be able to speak the language and know the lingo, so I don't agree with your analysis that Canadians are risk adverse! You are 100% correct about the housing crisis, listen it's been going on everywhere for decades, and international investors in the past 10 years or so woke up and noticed that Canada was a great bet for investment, so the problem got really bad. The government just passed a 2 year moratorium on non Canadians buying real estate - as have many other countries, so fingers crossed no more new foreign landlords just regular Canadians buying their first homes, let's hope so!! I've lived many years in Europe - and I loved it! But the quality of life in Canada is better. If you don't live in the crowded city you can have a nice property with lots of space, good roads, not bad school system, very friendly and helpful people. Most, if not all, immigrants have gone through rigorous English proficiency tests from reading, writing, speaking. Likewise most of the immigrants have high educational backgrounds, so they’re definitely proficient in English. They may not have the native speaker accent (just like yourselves) but I highly doubt they could be regarded as not being proficient in the English language. What’s the big deal about the English language by the way? among all of the languages, it’s the easiest to master. So I highly doubt that’s one of the real reasons. It’s more on the stupid “not having Canadian experience” thing. Which is really doesn’t make much sense. How would you expect most immigrants to have Canadian work experience? This backwards thinking is among the reason why Canada is lagging compared to other global countries. Only Canada has this rule. That way, it’s limiting its chances of getting the best talents from every part of the world. Because of this rule, highly skilled immigrants are forced to work jobs that doesn’t require technical skills just to pay the bills, until they got fed up for not being able to get jobs according to their high skills and eventually leave Canada for the US.

You're not much worse off than in the US! Back in 2012, I went to the emergency room around 3pm and finally got treatment around 8pm. That's how health care is! The doctors are not waiting around idle for you to come in. You'll be seen in the order in which you arrived!

Most Canadian citizens & the immigrants in Canada after getting Canadian PR using it as a gateway to America, they're actually moving to a better country like USA America. Most either move to US apply for a work visa & Green Card for citizenship. Or if they're 'money minded' & highly skilled in demanded professions, they move to Dubai, Kuwait, Doha Qatar, all the Middle East GCC Gulf countries, where they earn twice the money in Gulf, than they might earn in USA, like Surgeons, Doctors, Software Engineers, IT etc

Their comments are 100% accurate for ALL Canadians regardless of whether you're an immigrant or born here. Canadians, especially professionals earn 20-30% less than Americans in the same job (with the exception of teachers and police which earn 20-30% more) and pay more incomes taxes. Prior to the election of Justin's father (Pierre), Canada had a very strong manufacturing sector, strong financial sector, we had a technology leadership position in many sectors, and a dollar that was consistently as stronger or stronger than the US dollar. Now even our resource sectors are struggling. Our economy is dependent on real estate speculation and borrowing. God help us when the 10 million baby boomers retire - bankrupt Canada!!

I do watch many videos about the topic. First of all there's no place like home. As a human we will have tendency to resist to change. Choosing to leave a country whatever the reason will always be hard, you left a culture, family and so many good things. Diversity in a country like Canada is a good thing sometimes because somewhere somehow you find link to home. Imagine as a French Canadian like I am, I am consider as an immigrant in my own country. The natives came first from Asia, English took over the country which left us with no country we can call home. Many immigrants will say that French is an obstacle and don't understand why we need laws to keep it, we took our place following negotiations with the native not by conquest and always need to fight to keep that space because we're not making babies anymore and do need immigration like the rest of the country. That being said it brings the sensitive topic of jobs. There's types of jobs you do need Canadian experience, in Canada the construction codes are different from even a region versus another one. Do you know that St-Lawrence river is sitting on a tectonic plate and you need to construct a building which can resist a earthquake? What Canada need to do because we do lack of people on those job, is to provide fast track to help them having Canadian experience. They don't need anatomy courses, human here are pretty much the same but they need to know what medication is legal in Canada. Finally, all is on setting expectations, don't expect to feel at home in here, it take in average 3 generations to really feel at home, so be ready to feel pushed aside, be ready to live in a area where you will find mostly people of common cultural background. You will feel left over and pretty much alone. The only solution to be happy in here is embrasse change, go out of your comfort zone, embrace the local culture, talk to people from different backgrounds. There's a difference between multi cultural and integration. Sharing is caring, share your culture and your food, and most of all don't think you have the best way of life and other people don't understand. When you think everyone is wrong is usually a sign that you're the one who is wrong. Racism weirdly don't have a culture, a race or a religion, it's individual.

Most of these problems are not just Canadian problems but are immigrant problems and some are just developed nations problems , most people will face them in every country they go to!! The uk, us, Australia mention others are all expensive with just a 0.4 difference! Getting a Canadian passport and moving to another country which is not your native country will solve nothing and it’s not easy to move to a new country unless you have someone to sponsor you!! A Canadian passport will not allow you to work in the US or UK you will need sponsorship for a visa _ all it offers is a free visit visa for about 6 months I guess but not allowed to work! Work visas are complicated and depend more on skills than passport you hold! As a US citizen I can’t work in Canada visa free I can only visit_ the same with Canadians coming to the US or the UK ! \nFor the weather I feel you! We’re lucky In the US cos every type of weather you want you can get it without sacrificing living in a big city But other problems are quite similar everywhere! You have to walk around them and create ways to enjoy the beauty your country has to offer! Running away from from a country your a citizen of cos of loneliness or boredom is not a solution especially when you moving to a country your not even a resident of! Cos establishing residence is never easy unless you have a community there already! Otherwise it will be worse than where your running from!

This is so absurd, I have been friends with Sikhs all my life. They're such amazing people. In US, they're often confused with Muslims. Few years ago, a Sikh police officer Sandeep Dhaliwal was murdered in Texas.

The thing is most of kirpans Sikhs carry are dull, they’re symbols only and cannot be considered weapons. And as far as I know this is completely fine with the law in the US (depending on state I think)

You’re kidding yourself if you think there is much of a difference here in the US. Other than being able to move somewhere warm, the pressure, taxes, prices are pretty much the same. Although, my surgeon is from Nigeria and he loves it here.

A lot of the points you made were true, but not exclusively Canadian problems, they’re western problems. I dated someone who lived in the US, and travelled back and forth. I also used to work for a major American health insurance company. It’s a nightmare. The cost of premiums alone. I totally agree about the cost of living here... but I think the rest of your points lacked research and any solid supporting arguments. It’s boring? Why? Where are you living? Because I’ve lived in Montreal, Toronto, now I live in a smaller town and I can find you’d something fun to do every day. I think if you’re bored you’re boring. And my entire family and my husband are Caribbean immigrants... I found this video pretty ignorant.

You guys were spot on with this video. I am Canadian born from Caribbean immigrants and all we've done from jump is work multiple jobs. If you live in Toronto you can't just have one job; even lawyers and engineers have side hustles. My uber drivers are usually tech engineers! Most people usually immigrate to the US after getting their visa because the pay is so much more and the cost of living is lower. An example some jobs I'm looking at in Canada pay $50-$60k base demanding 5 yrs experience with 2-3 wks vacation. In the US the same job pays $75-100k base, unlimited vacation, work from home 2-3 yrs experience! I now live here part time and most of my wealthy friends have moved to the US, Costa Rica or Mexico because the cost of living is too high and it's no longer worth it. No life balance, even working remote you're a slave, the cost of living is outrageous

As a kenyan living in the UK for the past 7 yrs ,i came into conclusion that theres something not right about nigerians living abroad, among all africans ive met here in England, its only nigerians that never loves their country compared to other africans, ive met south africans ,cameroonians ghanians ugandans malawians liberians and Gambians all of them are proud of their respective countries and they tend to go back whenever they get the opportunity, i inclusive i do go back to kenya like every december coz i just cant stand being in the UK the entire year without going back home for a couple of weeks ...when it comes to nigerians ive met over here theres something always off, they hate their country sooo much to an extent one told me nigeria is a country in ICU ,some even told me they can set foot in africa but not nigeria..so nigerians tell me wats soo bad about your country that you tend to run away from it, even in my home country kenya there are estates designated for nigerians..Besides i prefer being in UK than in north america coz of the distance i cant imagine being in US or canada coz of the flight hours ,they're sooo far away from my country i love it in the UK coz its closer to home and i dont need connecting flights in most cases when going to kenya.

Well said, both US and Canada are all the same thing, it’s a circle. Start again and go back to school when you relocated to diasporas my dear. Not much difference until you get to a higher level like management in your career then a little change can occur.. Please keep enlighten our people at home so they will know the importance of building our home and prevent traveling abroad except going to school and return back home to use that knowledge learn to building their home country… There’s no place like home, we’re blessed in Africa but lack the knowledge of knowing what we have or to develop that country for generations to come….

Great content . Well , Can you tell me a country we’re you have lots of millionaires? None . Only in Africa . And the reason isn’t far fetching. There’s been lots & lots of corruption in Africa were there seem very good laws to curb this guys but they’re never implemented & of course this boils down to the corruption I earlier mentioned. \nTruth is that the western world is been over hyped . Salams, my African sisters. I loved your informative video it’s very similar to living in the US, where I’m from. Here it is much worse, there is RACISM, CRIME, ect. You would wait 8 hours in hospital but have to pay thousands yourself. The taxes are less here but you spend so much more in healthcare and at work you get one week of vacation and you’re discouraged to take it. The cost of living is high here as well. I love hearing about Canada you are both so beautiful and blessed.
