I don't agree with illegal immigration but if the Canadian system is going to put someone through their court system instead of just throwing them out, then when the refugee loses his case the Canadian gov should at least reimburse them with their lawyer/court costs. Two years ago I went on my church's annual week-long missions trip to Guatemala and absolutely hated the fact that I couldn't understand what people were saying around me. I immediately started studying Spanish so I could go back without fretting myself into fits over not being able to communicate. If I can learn Spanish for an annual trip, he and others like him can learn English when they come to stay in the U.S.

Those are the languages which will have real commercial use. But if you must learn Spanish, please go to Spain. That's the only place I've heard Spanish being spoken.

WIth all these endless thousands of Hispanics going to the US illegally (theres 15 million in total) Why dont the Latin American countries just ask the US to colonize their countries and then they can have US style rule of law and human rights protections? I had a girlfriend came from Mexico and didn't know any English she put herself through college she had an English book and a book in Spanish and that's how she taught herself English was by taking English only classes and then going home and reading the books in both English and Spanish to understand . So don't tell me it can't be done because it can if you have the desire to become part of the fabric of America and learn our language of English

I would venture to suggest that part of the problem is one of language barrier? He's been in the US for 15 years and he's been in Canada for 2, and even now, he doesn't speak or understand a word of English! If he desires to live in Quebec later, he will also need to speak French? He really won't go far in any English/French language country, if, after all that time, he hasn't mastered the most basic terms in anything but Spanish!
