15 years in the U.S. and did not learn English. I learned enough Spanish to be able to communicate simple conversation in three months. Not that hard

Why didn't he learn English for the 15 years he spent living in America? I hope he learns French while living in Canada
2018-11-09 0
If you want to be accepted in another country, first think you do is learn to speak their language. You can't expect a country to change their language to suit you. The Mexican illegals that used to work where I did had been here for over 15 years and still didn't speak the language, and made no effort to learn. On top of that, they couldn't read Spanish either. After mixing bleach with other cleaners and sending some of our customers to the hospital from the poisonous fumes, that was the end of them working for us.

Is there a reason someone who has lived, and worked, in the US for 15 years, is being interviewed by Vice in Spanish, and not English?
2018-11-09 0
If he's been in the US for 15 years, were his kids born in the US? That's where the loophole in the 14th amendment gets messy.
2018-11-07 0
wow 15,000.00 in cash I'm sure no tax paid on that money. All in America that do the right thing pay their taxes.
2018-11-07 0
Jose, I learned Spanish in 2 months. You couldn't pull off english in 15 years?
2018-11-07 0
Go back and fight for your own country.. at least you wouldn't need a translator after 15 fuckin years...
2018-11-07 2
Lived illegally in the US....his kids have Ipdas ,he drives a car that looks over 20k in price but still goes to canada for a better life.....and after 15 years of living in an english speaking nation he is giving interviews in spanish .....yet he can;t conceive that the US or Canada wont just let him in.

How is it that such a “POOR” family is able to pay with their money $15,000 in legal fees ONLY. They got denied because HE AND HIS FAMILY IS A FRAUD. POINT BLANK. THEY WANTED TO SCAM US AND WHEN THAT DIDNT WORK TGEY TRIED TO SCAM CANADA. I don’t feel bad at all

Tried to bring my Central American Wife of 15 years, my 9 year old daughter, and my 20 year old stepdaughter {university scholarship} to Canada. Tried for 3 years when I went back to Canada to give us a better future. Now back in Central America with my family. Poor, but together. Too bad they were from a decent country and not a shithole so they could claim refugee status. Or Muslim.

Where did he get 15,000???? I’m excited that they went to Canada! The USA has had enough!
2018-11-04 0
He spent $15,000 just on lawyers? Damn he's got money to spare.
2018-11-04 0
Hey stupid, do I understand you have been 15 years here and you can't speak English? You should have learned to speak English before you came here. Your kids are in school? I imagine they do not speak English either? You lost $15.000. Tough stuff! If you are an illegal, get the hell out of Canada and America! Go back where you came from, we do NOT want you here!
2018-11-04 0
15,000 ! Who is tha lawyer !!
2018-11-04 0
Obviously Trudeau and Canada is racist. 15 years in the US and he and family still speak Spanish?
2018-11-03 0
Where and how he come up with 15,000????
2018-11-03 0
15 years in the US and then Canada, and he doesn't speak English?
2018-11-02 0
Glad it was denied. He seems to be able to afford rent, a vehicle, $15 000 in legal fees...
2018-11-01 0
Vice am i suppose to feel bad for this guy?? Breaking laws and fleeing hearings in order to delay the process?? His kids crying is his own fault because he makes bad decisions and expects handouts just because he asks for it. 15 years in the United States and you dont speak any english?? Liberal media is a damn joke
2018-11-01 0
Well he feels denied bc he wants it easy. He is lucky to even pay 15,000. A lot of people are paying more and waiting to get residency. This man is just lazy. I don't feel bad for him.
2018-10-31 0
WHERE Did the $15,000 Come from?!?!?! ??? Oh yeah, probably had 3-4 Jobs.... PULLLEEEEASE!!! ???
2018-10-29 0
why not just make your stay here legal? stop hiding, pay taxes, gain rights, live in a house and get a job. if youve been hiding in a church for 15 years. youre not doing your family any favors. just do what it takes to become legal. i know its harder said then done these days but its gotta be better then hiding in a church basement for 15 years. plus you need rights, you need to be able to call the police when theres an emergency with out fear of deportation. come on! one time i hit an illegal with my car. destroyed the back end. i felt so bad! i have great insurance and wanted to take care of their car, and make sure they got checked out at a hospital but they refused cause they didnt want to get in trouble. their car never got fixed.... even though I wanted to fix it! i mean come on people supporting illegal imagrants are puting them in danger. they need to be given a path to legal citizenship and stopped from entering with out doing so.
2018-10-26 0
He should be a man and go fight to fix HIS country. 15 years and he can't speek English? F..K these people
2018-10-18 0
Stop portraying illegal immigrants as victims. I have friends who waited more than 10 years, some even 20, just to migrate to the US. They came from poor countries too, but they still followed the law. And these types of people should stop using their length of stay in the US an excuse not to get deported when they entered illegally in the first place. Also, 15 years in the US and still no English? Immigration should be a a win-win on both the country and the applying immigrant.
2018-10-15 0
15 years and still cannot speak English! He deserves to go back to South America! He obviously does not want to inter grate with the Americans or Canadians. I migrated from another country and have mixed in very well with Americans and I love the food! Pizza is so yummy!
2018-10-11 0
15 years and never bother to go legal and learn English LOL This shows a lot.
2018-10-11 2
Wait you mean to tell me after 15 years living in the US he still can't speak a spit of english? I'm not American, I'm Asian, and I learned English from watching movies. But for me ain't you suppose to put at-least some effort into speaking the language you plan on living on? I mean if you've lived in the US for 15 years, even with little effort there will be a huge progress.
2018-10-10 0
How can you be in a country for 15 years and not even have the decency of learning the language of said coountry? just that shows the bad apples that make the rest of us latins look like crap! And not only him, his wife should have pushed him also into starting documentation process and learning the language over a decade ago.
2018-10-10 0
Well, you had 15 years to assimilate and become a citizen but no, you chose unwisely broke the law. Karma that lawyers leached 15k off of you. Probably not a fraction of the money you leached from the taxpayers. Enjoy the wonderful winters in Canada.
2018-09-25 0
15 years in the US and he still does not speak english, now you begin to understand why you are not wanted.
2018-09-24 0
15 years in the US and can't speak English?
2018-09-16 0
You've Had your 15 minutes,, Now Leave Canada
2018-09-06 0
15 years and you don't speak English. \n glad you left.
2018-09-06 0
Pretty good, lives stateside for 15 yrs still can't speak English, but sure understood Trudeaus fucking tweet to come to Canada??
2018-08-31 0
If he hadn't immigrated illegally he wouldn't be $15,000 in the hole. How stupid can you be knowing full well the concequences to your actions if you get caught breaking the law by illegally immigrating. Your family and kids being possibly being separated and spending massive amounts of money on lawyers. Look at all these comments about how people don't want these immigrants in their country. Nationals shouldn't have to change laws to cater to these people.
2018-08-29 0
15 years and never applied for US citizenship??
2018-08-28 0
Fifteen years living in the US and don't speak English! I've spent four months in PR over two winters and I probably speak more SPANISH than these criminals speak English. That's because I have RESPECT for my hosts. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. When in PR, do as the PR's do...at LEAST try! It's obvious they spent the whole 15 years in an Hispanic enclave.
2018-08-28 0
What an idiot, couldn't apply for legal citizenship for the 15 years he lived in the USA? Couldn't learn to speak English at all? Couldn't go to a college or university and become a skilled laborer?
2018-08-28 0
He would have been better off starting the LEGAL process of becoming a U.S. citizen 15 years ago. And maybe at least try to assimilate and learn the language. It would have helped him tremendously.
2018-08-25 0
He should never have been allowed to stay for 15 yrs illegally in the US. And now he should be deported from Canada as he has once again flouted the laws of the land he has arrived in. How can he be working if he has flouted the laws of the land? Is he working illegally as well? If so the employers should also be prosecuted and given a heavy fine to deter them doing it again.
2018-08-25 0
Canada only wants people who are educated and who qualify for good jobs. \n\nBut it is ridiculous to be here 15 years and not speak English. I can not imagine moving to Paris and saying..no..I'm never learning French and I expect you to have everything in English for me.
2018-08-24 0
He loves the United States so much he took the time to learn English in the 15 years he was here. Stay in Canada and take the rest of the leeches with you.
2018-08-23 0
15 yrs in the US...why didnt he learn English and apply for residency there ?...sorry about your luck...you're out of here...
2018-08-22 0
i am liberal but i agree with my conservative bretherin that he has been here in North America for more then 15 years and don't speak our language! like wtf????? I dont mind immigrants but learn to integrate FFS!
2018-08-20 0
This guy lived in the US for 15 years, and still can't/won't speak the language. Yet to many this is our problem, not his.\nThey were stupid enough to actually think Canada would welcome them with open arms and wallets. Not gonna happen. Canada has tougher immigration laws than the US does.\nHe left for Canada, now he's their problem. Deal with it.

12 whole hours of vetting? How could they miss a terrorist with all that? Where does a Syrian get $15,000 for lawyers. Fighting for ISIS?
2018-08-15 0
If he has $15,000 saved for lawyers, he is doing a lot better than me and other Americans....
2018-08-15 0
he's been in the United States for 15 years can't speak English and spending $5,000 on a lawyer he's totally broke he looks very healthy and looks like a skilled labor send him and his family back to El Salvador and let them help build his country back up
2018-08-09 0
15 years in the U.S. and I didn't hear him speak one word of English. Also, how do you prove you're 'endangered' - that you'd be persecuted if you return? Lots of people die in El Salvador every day for various reasons. So, can anyone in El Salvador come to Canada?
