Ummmm ... if you draw a line across Canada, from the West Coast continuing the line across, you capture 70 % of the population. Half way down to the USA border captures 50%. So. The Canadian population clings ..clings .. to the USA. NO,-ONE lives effectively anywhere else, especially in the whole middle AND North of Canada. Canada is more sparcely populated and more centralised than Australia. And whatever Canada us, it is wet, it is cold. It is grey. Oh .. and cold. Very cold. (And grey.)

At least, if the entire world goes to shit, in Brasil I can walk to the beach, afford to eat, and own a home on 25% of what I earned in Canada. I dont know wtf is this. My friend moved to Montreal , pretty quickly got a studio for 600 euro near downtown. And she says the minimum wage is enough to cover all expenses, and she is new there. She likes it there more than in Dubai, and she had a great and well-paid job in Dubai.\nYes, canada can still do better and should have higher salaries or at least lower cost of house rent. But come on, mist contries cant offer even survival on average salary! \nOK TORONTO AND VANQUVER are expensive but there are other cities where u can survive. Its bwtter than nothing. The numbers used are not ideal, but even at half of that it is horrendous. \nAs far as choosing where to live to avoid a school shooting, I don't believe that any school has suffered more than 1 shooting, and I don't think that any of the schools that experienced a shooting were on anyone's top 1,000 list for where the next school shooting would occur.

Correction: healthcare here in Canada is paid via taxes.. it is NOT free. But everyone is about 75% covered with services, including major procedures. The rest we must pay out of pocket. I am an American living in Canada for 20 years. The longer I live here the more subtle differences I notice. This is me a decade ago moving from Phils to Canada. I never felt at home in the country of my birth — I hated the traffic and the monsoon rains (it can rain for months). I know a lot of nationalities rave about our tropical country & beautiful beaches but it also has become unaffordable for us the citizens. We became Canadians 5 yrs ago & have grown from 4 to 6 (2 Canada born kids) & now have 2 properties. It has worked for us but it was also not easy uprooting our lives & starting over. I don’t think we will ever find our home anywhere. Previously my husband and I also lived in the US (before kids). It is truly a privilege to be here but I always feel I am sojourner, always traveling & always searching. I hope you find your peace wherever life takes you. Yes, keep the details & do not reveal to everyone just yet. Move in silence with God (if you are a believer) because that is a wise thing to do. All the best!
