Even if action was taken against the systemic racism against the blacks and natives not only would it still exist but there would still be significant racism towards immigrants and any other visible minority indeed that racism would be literally unchanged. The best we can hope for is to continually bring racism to light. The fight against racism never ends.

In the 21st century, many Canadians are also quite against Christians, though this is the basis for the underlying principles of kindness, goodness, and love that has made the Western World so attractive to many peoples around the world, and has made Canada a haven for many. This is quite a shame on Canada. While loving and blessing others, Canada should NEVER forget her own (Natives and Christians); neither should she forget her good foundations that has made her peaceful, wealthy, and stress free over the centuries. I have had to rescue a white co-worker one time, because she was ill treated by immigrants in the workplace, who thought she was not SMART enough and FAST enough for their purpose. This is a beautiful, gentile white lady, whose parents helped to build Canada. Shame on Canada. It is good to bless others, but at what cost? Selling out your good foundations? Forgetting your own peoples who do not have degrees like others. Shame on Canada for allowing these actions. Canada, rebuild your good foundations.

The unspoken assumption seems to be that racism is a white problem. Yet across the years I have listened to Black and Chinese people express opinions which, coming from a white person, would have meant a day in court charged with the willful promotion of hatred.\n\nFurthermore, the young woman who has difficulty with people asking where she is from might want to consider the possibility that the other party is genuinely interested in learning more about her as a person. I am a white British-Canadian and am not in the least little bit offended when people ask me about my origins.\n\nIndeed, listening to immigrants and new Canadians share their life experiences and outlooks on things has gone a long way in shaping my own opinions as to how Canada can be a better country than it is now.\n\nCase in point; I have heard immigrants and new Canadians from nations as diverse as Jamaica, Trinidad, Nigeria, Ukraine, and the Philippines compare childrens' education in Canada with children's education in their countries of origin. Guess which looks better. Hint, hint, it isn't Canada.\n\nFolks, we need to be listening.

This is very scary! Unfortunately, we cannot close the border as essential food and medical supplies come from the US to fill our grocery stores and pharmacies! The sad fact on Canada, U.S and Europe, for centuries dominated of Christian faith, are slowly under silent invasion of Islamism. The exodus of Muslim immigrants or refugees from Middle East, was somehow a collaboration, conspiration and cooperation of rich arab muslim countries from petro dollars to flood the aforementioned states of muslim immigrants for future Islamic domination.

Open borders is the cause of the increase in racism. You allow people in to people's towns unregulated and people will be unwelcomeing. Especially when the government has given us reason to be worried about exactly who is here and that will make people judge based on physical characteristics. It's not right but maybe the government should ask why this is happening I stead of demonizing the citizens. Yea, but the immigrant ( all races) kids get far better grades in school, and that generation pays 30% tax every year of their 100k salary... They're the ones that gonna take this country into next century of technologically advanced world. Issue with economy starts with the family. If you have single parent family and social issues.. kids aren't gonna make it in this highly competitive world. What does it cost to imprison a 100,000 foreigners? A million? What does it cost the justice system to get an arrest, trial and conviction? In America I figure we pay about 50 billion a year for all the above... every year, year in, year out.What does it cost America with the illegals sending unreported earnings out of the country, what does it cost in terms of uncollected government revenues? He is doing it the legal way filling out the paperwork to seek asylum. Unless you're Native American, your ancestors were once immigrants! And not all of them came legally either! By these comments, Canadians hate immigrants even more than American white supremacists. This man is scared for himself and his family. His case is just ignorance. It angers me what this man has done to his family. How do you claim asylum in a country when fleeing from a country you came to illegally? Immigration laws are very important and protect citizens of a country in many ways. The US welcomes immigrants with open arms when they come here legally. These individuals want to challenge our rights to protect our people, our country. This family may be no threat to our country but if laws are not followed it opens the way for the wrong people to enter. I’m so tired of this manipulation. This man is responsible for the pain his children are going through.. not the countries standing by their laws to protect citizens and legal immigrants. Aside from this.. when do people start taking a stand and making positive change in their own Home Countries? The problem in this world is people refuse to take responsibility. It’s always someone else’s fault. If we allow people from other countries to neglect our laws our country will fall as well. Wake up.

Why don't all the nations like US and Canada try to help fix what is happening from the places these people are fleeing, especially if they are murder capitals? They can recruit these migrants to form coalitions to rebuild their nation. What if they are really are going to suffer there, without outside intervention, by being recruited, instead, into gangs or be killed or raped? If we send troops to the middle east for our vested interest, then don't we also have at least some vested interest to send troops in Honduras and El Salvador? We can prevent the entire population from migrating, prevent people from being exploited and hurt while traveling or living illegally and the taxpayers and citizens won't have to pay for court costs, education, healthcare and welfare. There are plenty of things our nation can do to uplift our own destitute and out of luck an alone citizens...with that money. With the money now saved, it can be diverted to cover the costs of our troops, counselors, educators in those nations. Then it is possible and foreseeable to reunite all the undocumented immigrants back to their now safer home countries. I understand why they flee and also understand why the US and Canada cannot absorb these large population of people, and they have the right to determine who is invited in, so....why can't there be more permanent solutions? I feel, certain pathetic political groups are playing these migrants, the law-abiding citizens and others in their game of chess. Lives are not pawns for chess. Is there a hidden path for drugs, money, prostitution that is being quietly supported? Are certain businesses lobbying in the millions and billions to get cheap labor? Is that why this problem is not finally being solved but kept alive for so many years? There are basic solutions that have not been tried in earnest. You cannot just bring everyone in and you cannot just turn your face to the problems these undocumented people face... I feel like much is not being discussed about this situation....Something else is going on that they are not covering...

Canada was founded only for white Europeans. It was never intended for people of colour. Even the indigenous aboriginals and enslaved Africans who were and are part of the story of Canada but written out of the official Canadian history books are not wanted here either. There is a secret plan to ethnically cleanse the country by eventually removing all people of colour from the country. The United States is also moving in that direction. Before I moved to Brampton, I had no idea HOW MANY Indians actually lived here. I'm of south Asian descent but I grew up here as a Canadian. I still keep my culture but I'm Canadian FIRST. It's true too, some of them don't believe in deodorant, holy shit I literally had to tell a guy who sat beside me on the bus that he smelled. I know it was rude but if someone doesn't tell these people, they will think not wearing deodorant is normal. I miss the Canada I grew up in. My friends were mostly white but there was a nice mix of us: white, black, asian so we all got along. Today, everyone is in their own groups, strangers are the enemy, there is so much more segregation than there has ever been. Not long ago at a Tim Hortons I heard an Indian guy who was clearly new to the country telling his friend he didn't have to learn English because everyone in Brampton speaks Punjabi, it was insulting hearing that.....Listen up Indians and any immigrants coming here: BEFORE you come here, learn English, LEARN the customs and learn the CANADIAN WAY. You owe it to Canada, give something back before you start taking.

Leaving the U.S. which is as free as Canada is not a reason to accept individuals based on a refugee status. Most countries are welcoming immigrants. But stop trying to jump the line ahead of others. Canada has always been great neighbors with our American counterparts. Why does liberalism today must stand for unshackled pratices that are unraveling before us?? I consider myself a liberal and honestly i think i believe much of their policies are driven by madness, not all of them but many of them. Many have no skills or anything to actually bring to Canada either. They're not asylum seekers. They're economic migrants who broke the law by coming to the states illiegaly. Now because you actually have a president with balls to kick them out to where they came from they're coming to Canada where they know our PM can't even admit there's such a thing as an extremist Muslim. \nHe keeps using the excuse that Canada was built on immigrants. Yes. True. Legal ones. Or legitimate refugees fleeing war or persecution. Not bloody Donald Trump and a pretty developed / stable country aka the US. So I'm from a town in Ireland with a small hotel, a few years ago the government bought it and moved immigrants in overnight (literally in the middle of the night). It is still run like a hotel with cleaning services and restaurant but the occupants also receive government income. (meanwhile we are seeing an increase in local homelessness every year) Anyways I recently heard a story from someone who works for social services who collected a woman and her few kids from the hotel to drive them down the road to the new four bedroom house they were being given. When they arrived at the house the woman asked what days the cleaner would be over, the person driving said that she wouldn't have a cleaner anymore this was her house so she would be responsible for minding it. The woman put her kids back in the car and demanded they take her straight back to the hotel. So yeah, hotels may not be the greatest immigration solution.

The average Canadian has had it with immigrants, and refugees, we are ready to start shooting anyone that is not white. It is lock and load time, time to fight for our country before it becomes another third world hell hole.

Let Trudeau do this. His country will soon learn what it costs, when the USA no longer sets the example of welcoming everyone, whether tired or weary. It’s a tough situation for the USA. We have a record number of immigrants here. There’s no easy or nice way to enforce the law. \n\nOne thing also that has hurt immigrants is they vote 80% for Democrats. You may not think it’s a big deal but it is to Republicans trying to prevent too much socialism from taking hold. That causes more resistance to immigration. Traditionally immigrants, as they stay longer in the USA, become Republicans and we reach an equilibrium. If too many immigrants come in a short period, there is not enough time to acclimate them and maintain political stability.

It is the Canadian government that makes Canada sound like we are welcoming to all immigrants. That is not the stance of many citizens that own the government. It's like going to work and your boss paying you to tell him or her how to run their business. Canada is a pretend democracy that has governments who work toward their own agendas. Even if they do try to do it the legal way sometimes they are not granted with any type of visa or green card. The government can deny their application for many reasons. So they end up crossing the border illegally. As well it is cheaper to cross the border than to apply for a visa or some sort of legal document. Many of these “lawbreakers” you suggest to be in jail have tired to do everything the legal way but it didn’t work out. Immigrants risk their lives and their love ones to have a better life, to be able to work to be able to have things that it’s impossible to have in their country. I have zero issues with immigrants seeking a better life in another country, being one myself, but a few things about some immigrants baffle me always. How do people expect to be welcomed and accepted by the folks of another country when they don't even bother to learn the language. This guys been in the US for 15 years and can't speak any English? Its not the worse case , I've seen people live far longer 30 or 40 years in countries like the UK where I'm from and they cannot speak a word of English because they choose to live in a self imposed microcosm of the country they came from. \nThey have to understand that it's very insulting to native people and citizens of a country that you want to be treated as a citizen yourself but won't make efforts to adapt to the language and cultures of the country you have chosen to live in, I cannot think of a better way to ostracize yourself than failing to learn the language.\n It would be far easier to have sympathy for your cause if you are able to show that you have integrated and intend to be a citizen of that country 100% and the easiest way is to be able to communicate your cause yourself.

Trudeau is a weak leader. He showed he is unable to put his emotions aside long enough to make a rational decision based on what's best for his country and immigrants/refugees. Then he had to back-track, but not until he had caused additional and unnecessary hardship. This shows his lack of maturity which to me, makes him an unfit leader. Leaders need to have the intestinal fortitude to make tough decisions based on projected consequences, even it means his numbers take a temporary dive in the polls. \n\nTrudeau obviously views compassion as a positive trait and it is, but only when balanced by wisdom. Otherwise, it leaves a person open to being reactionary, rather than proactive. Compassion applied unwisely leads to its opposite which is cruelty as was demonstrated as the outcome in this video. If Trudeau was really compassionate he would not have spoken in a way that gave false hope.

My father migrated to the US and left because he hated it. 15 years in the United States and he doesn't speak English and he can't figure out why he's not getting Asylum... Canada has done extremely well for Immigrants, and we spend a lot of money on making sure we get hard working decent citizens.. We've recently made it easier for people to immigrate here. We welcome it. But it does have to be done legally. And yes, I agree with everyone else here. 15 years in English countries, and doesn't speak it himself is disgusting. I bet he'd learn the word food fast if he was starving. Also, those kids need to be in school. I hope he's not hiding them too cause they'll never learn English then.

As a Canadian Salvadoran I’m grateful to be in this great country. However, I implore all immigrants/refugees to wake up and smell the roses, it is not paradise here....it’s great but not that great. There are things here that oppress Canadians, and the government is one of them. Racism exists here, better believe that, Sadly, In this world there is no more empathy, kindness. It’s a Dog eat dog world. No matter where you go.....ok maybe Switzerland or Iceland is alright ? but no where else. Like I always say Follow the laws, take care of yourself and your family and be happy.

it doesn't matter where he is from what matters is that he put his family through all of this because he dodnt want to do the legal process. i come from immigrants and they did the process (not cutting corners) and they were welcomed citizens and still are. some illegal immigrants dont care for their families or they would have started the process a long time ago.
