I'm a born Canadian and he's absolutely right about everything. He's not gonna get far i his medical career here and will be underpaid and working like a robot for the rest of his life. Life in Nigeria is only decent for those living affluently in Lekki, Victoria Island, Ikoyi, certain areas of Ikeja and Abuja. Outside of that, life for everyday Nigerians is crap. Water & electricity (NEPA) are highly unreliable & intermittent, so fuel-powered generators are a necessity for living everyday life per household or per apartment in apartment complexes. The banking & government systems are notoriously sluggish, taking weeks and months to process simple paperwork such as drivers licenses, passports, certificates, banking transaction reversals, you name it. Bribery is a daily occurrence EVERYWHERE. Police (if you can call them that, mostly untrained thugs) detain & extort motorists and/or people innocently going about their daily lives, just for the money. Many many many people disappear mysteriously without ever being seen again by family or friends. Lots of inter-racial discrimination and animosity between the three major tribes that make up Nigeria… Yoruba, Igbo & Hausa-Fulani. The federal & state governments are horribly corrupt, bordering on dictatorship. Elections are undemocratic, to say the least, with thugs threatening voters at voting booths. I could go on?\n\nThis is why many Nigerians with any amount of wealth live in diaspora, whether that be the UK, Canada, the USA, Europe, or wherever. And, yeah, be prepared for everything being structured & organized in these countries, especially in North America. The cost of living is definitely higher to pay for a higher quality of living. That’s the difference between a developed country vs a country, such as Nigeria, that’s developing or considered ‘third-world’. Unfortunately, here in Canada we cannot account for the last 8 years under our current administration, which has gone rogue & is out of control, causing high inflation, interest rates and housing and cost of living to soar. This is not normal conditions even to those of us natural-born here. So, we feel for immigrants who have arrived in good faith in the last few years. I’m sure their country of origin is looking better than what is being experienced here in Canada currently.

Canada has focused too long on being a raw resource economy with the world. \n\nTax policies in Canada are also high cost to businesses and people. The per capita number of civil servants to population is grossly high. And that only 2/3 of the population actually work for income … and you have a lot of dead weight that the workers are paying to upkeep. Most people are paying 40 cents of every dollar on taxes. This type of taxation makes the country unattractive to high income earners who could pay a lot less taxes in the USA and get a better lifestyle in the USA because everything is cheaper down there.

As a second generation Nigerian immigrant (parents were born in Nigeria and I was born in the US). I 100% agree w/ his perspective. I’ve spent consider amount of time in Nigeria w/ my side of the family that’s doing well and the other side that aren’t. Aboard should only be for people who have no opportunity back home as in they have tried everything and nothing worked for them. If you are doing well in Nigeria, try and give birth to your kids in the US so they can retrieve citizenship. There is no reason a successful person back home should sell their things and move aboard even for kids as you can send them aboard to receive an education and help them gain citizenship and from their they can file for you. The amount of systemic racism, odd jobs you will have to work (God forbid you don’t have a degree and you move aboard for non degree purposes that’s when aboard will show you pepper), cost of surviving is expense here especially now as inflation is high. It’s just not benefiting especially if you were better off in Nigeria. However, this shouldn’t stop you from coming just know that the road isn’t easy and some places are worse than others. I’ve never been to Canada but have been to the UK and by far would advice anyone from back home to avoid UK at all cost. Not even sure how Nigerians are even making it there lol (it’s a never ending cycle of poverty plus citizenship is very difficult to gain and the discrimination in my opinion is much worse than the US. UK society has a class system and it only really empowers British people. The UK is so bad that they even discriminate against Eastern Europeans that should let you know a lot.) Also why do you think most Brits Nigerians come back to Naija hoping to secure job compared to American Nigerians and let me tell you it’s not because the UK is close to Nigeria, there is a true lack of opportunity. There are more opportunity in the US and possibly Canada compared to the Europe.

We (Canada) let in 1,200,000 people in the last 12 months and everything is shit here. We are at zombie-apocalypse-level population growth with the sole purpose of inflating housing prices for landowners. I live in Brampton Ontario Canada and I second everything Mr. Ashir Azeeem has said. He is an honest man and doing all this voluntarily for the community. I had to sell my condo because of all the drug addict population increasing in my neighborhood downtown and the government put some injection sites all around downtown Toronto ; it has become disgusting and dangerous because all those people just trash everything they touch and wherever they go, and then because I didn't agree with all the discrimination taxes and xenophobia from the government's part. I am glad I was able to get the hell out before the total collapse of the economy and real estate prices and I don't regret it 1 minute. Canada sucks really.

Also I went to Toronto for business and talked to people, it's awful, rents around around 3-5k for single bedroom. Everything was waaaaay more expensive than even here in downtown Chicago where I live. rents are up 40%. If you're poor, good luck LOL

India is good if you have a business. But if you are salaried and live in Bangalore, Pune, Delhi it takes 1 hr to travel 10km, govt. collects income tax and take GST on even health insurance.\n\nOf course Canada has become crowded and shouldn't be the first choice.\n\nPopulation is 150 cr. I have live in canada for 7 yrs now I realized everything is so expensive and you can barely save and work as a labourer your whole life. Canadian (Albertan here) - yes, i don't think i'd move to the States unless it was reasonably close (maybe Montana) with fewer people - i'd like to identify as a Hermit :). I motorcycle and have travelled majority of the States, from coast to coast, and i really do like the country side and scenery, and history, that you run through. I do a 4000-6000 mile tripe every year or two - did Tennessee last year, and Colorado this summer. A lot of absolutely amazing country really, and yes some really great people as well. Have run into some real odd people as well and some places i wanted to get out of pretty quick. I do like the fact the US hasn't bought into this woke agenda and politically correctness - it's absolutely nuts up here. I like the gun laws in the States, too bad we're so screwed over that in Canada. Gotta love Trump - may be a bit of a bozo but hey - the guy lays it out and owns his shit, every other polititician plays the blame game and does everything politically correct... End of day, i'd prefer to stay in Canada, either Alberta or British Columbia.

Disappointing you rushed over a respondent's feeling about the abortion issue in the US as it is completely on point. Health care costs are one thing (actually huge) but when you're forced to carry a fetus to term against your will (would any man?) that alone is why no woman would put her hand up to head to your neck of the woods - for her own sake and for that of her daughter's and any other female for that matter (Canadians tend to care about other people not just themselves). If you want to know why someone WOULD leave Canada for the US, it would likely be for family; or warmer weather...but at this point you guys are on fire and family can come visit us here. We are blessed here for so many reasons (fresh water, beautiful country, health care, freedom to choose, freedom to be gay or straight or whatever you are) and while my mom was American and I have cousins and even a nephew in Florida, and I used to love visiting my grandparents in Vermont and New Jersey as a kid, the whole landscape of the US has changed to one of in your face racism, hatred against women, the LGBTQ and everyone who is not caucasian, not to mention the whole gun business. I support the current US immigration system but that’s because I’m against immigration and letting half the world in. Canada can have them and all the awful consequences that have occurred in their country since. As a Danish citizen I would much prefer immigrating to Canada compared to the US if I ever would be in a situation to choose. The Canadian system is much more comparable to the European systems and I feel the mentality is more similar as well. Professionals in Australia are far better than Canada and USA. Weather, people, lifestyle everything. I am in Aus since 2004. Mechanical engineer wife Pharmacist and most of our friend in good jobs and enjoy life. Been to Canada and US....There is no comparison. No matter what kind of insurance you have, you still have to deal with a stupid amount of red tape and bureaucracy just to get your care covered, and the drug prices are out of control. and you have no idea when that horrible health issue is going to happen to you. In Canada, I go to the doctor, I give my health card, done deal. The healthcare system in Ontario particularly is under attack and they're trying to privatize hospital care by underfunding everything else. But our premier is also a Conservative Trump Lite wannabe who is buddy buddy with a lot of rich folks.There are absolutely problems here, Canada is dysfunctional in a lot of ways. But I would NEVER move to the states, definitely not as a disabled/chronically ill woman. Hell no. Also--we're not THAT nice, Americans are always surprised at how much Canadians dislike the USA. My brother moved there but he's much more conservative than me (for Canada) and his job doesn't exist here in Canada.

The dream was, when I retire I was going to joint the snowbirds and flock south to Florida or Arizona. Winters for seniors in many parts of Canada are pretty rough. However since 2016 the US has gone so far off the rails, I have looked at other countries to warm up in the winter. I used to visit the US every two years, but now, I don't want to visit let alone live there. Canada is not perfect, but the overall quality of life is much better, the fear-factor of just about everything from Government, to gun-violence is just so ridiculous, I have given up on the US turning around any time soon.

So many wrong informations about Australia..\ni was feeling so frustrated while listening their lack of knowledge..\n1. Students on average make 1500$ per week tax and cash (no need to mention about cash to even your closed ones) ; means students can afford everything in Australia.\n2. On work Visa: you get more opportunities for professional jobs but people prefer odd jobs where money is so good i.e security, uber taxi etc.\n3. Employer insurance: your employer pays 10% of your pay as superannuation funds and life insurance as well. (In canada, employer deduct it from your own pay i.e. EI)\n4. Sydney night life has no comparison, there are so many suburbs, areas, restaurants that are open till 1am.\n5. Sydney city is open till 3am from friday to sunday.\n6. Many beaches to explore.\nAustralian students have better life styles than PRs of Canada.\n7. Job opportunities are unlimited in sydneyz\nOverall there is no comparison of Canada and Australia . \nMay be i missed many points but tried to mention it here because they are misleading those who are confused between Aus and Canada.
