The Colombian president was claiming that migrants are welcome back as long as they are not treated as criminals since they are not criminals. Entering the US illegally is a civil offense like passing red light but not a criminal offense under US law. So then he said he could send his own plane and make sure that those people are not handcuffed and treated with dignity in their arrival, since Trump was treating them as criminals. It is not like some here are saying that the tariff threat caused him to back off, it was just a point of being treated fairly since they are not criminals.

I am definitely ok on cracking down illegal immigration and there should be criminal charges for employers that employ these migrant workers with slave wages. However with that being said to deport almost 20 million people that make up more than 50% agricultural workers in the country is a logistical nightmare.
