The only thing that will get Trump to pull in his horns is for countries to respond with counter-tariffs that will HURT Americans big time. Trump said they don't need our energy. Let's shut down hydro electricity sales to the US and allow millions of residences and industry go dark in winter and wait for Trumps call to negotiate. The US NEEDS Canadian resources and we should use that to our advantage.

Imposing tariffs and endangering free trade is the same as denying climate change or engaging in anti-vaccine nonsense. It is unscientific and will harm those engaging in those fallacies - most likely with higher inflation in the US. Trump imposes 25% on his partners, neighbours and allies and only 10% on China. That tells you a lot.

However, America has provided Canada with favorable trading relations and high-cost subsidies in the form of military and territorial security for decades. That clearly was a slap in the face and wasn't very smart! You had to figure some American president would ultimately say enough!\n\nAmerica has supported, defended, and offset the national defense costs of European nations for over seventy years, while EU countries and their leaders have routinely mocked and ridiculed Americans. Is it really classy to slap the face of someone who protects and supports you and your quality of life? No, it's not! Tariffs on EU products are likely coming soon, and reduced defensive support for Europe means they will have to pay more taxes for their defense and goods.

Back in 2016, Trump introduced 25% tariffs on China 301-classification imports that severely damaged my business. For whatever reason, he then exempted the tariffs, but the public still assumed that they were in place. It was a perfect Trump win-win move to make the voters think that he was acting tough, while actually exempting the tariffs for us importers. Unfortunately, Biden got into office and immediately took away the exemptions and screwed us. I mention all of this in order to exemplify how nothing is as it seems when it comes to Trump. Sometimes you have to let this stuff play out before overreacting. I think that Canada made a mistake by overreacting so quickly. This will force Trump's hand to pursue the trade war, even if it was not his actual intention.

Trump has already admitted: Tariffs do raise the US Cost of Living and that they are paid by US Consumers (including MAGA Consumers) NOT by the foreign country. He originally imposes a 25% Trump Tariff on Canada but only 10% on its oil and gad exports to the US. WHY?! Because he knows Tariffs will increase the Cost of oil imported to the US and therefore gas prices, and increase the Cost of Living to MAGA Consumers and decrease his political support. Trump is a grifter, so anything he proclaims is likely 10% truth and 90% Lies. Watch what he does and not what he says!

Trump's rationale of the border security issue to Canada is totally false as less than 1 percent of drugs and illegals come through Canada. Trump is just being a bully to try to get his way on tariffs for what he thinks is an economic decision to improve the USA. Unfortunately he is again wrong as Americans and Canadians will pay a lot more for goods and Trump will cause more inflation, ruin companies and many job losses across both nations.

It’s got to do with America living outside its means with massive deficits and ballooning debt, and rather than take responsibility for that, the US thinks others should pay (when US consumers will) for it to continue to live outside its means, while it cuts taxes largely to the benefit of the wealthy... \nRemember when Iraq invaded Kuwait, how it said it was because Kuwait (and the United Arab Emirates) caused a drop in oil prices with the overproduction of crude oil, thus impacting Iraq’s ability to pay its debts and recover from the Iran-Iraq war, but really it was about seizing Kuwait’s large oil reserves, canceling the debt it owed Kuwait, and expanding its power in the region… Sound similar?

When prices go up, Trump will blame the Democrats for over regulations. If Columbia/Mexico/China/Canada plays chicken with Trump and back off the tariffs first, Trump will drop his tariffs and claim victory. Trump's base will eat this up!

And Columbia will issue tariffs on the US to match, as well as take its trade to other countries more favorable to them! The USA loses because Trump is the biggest loser! This is so stupid, if trump’s solution to international affairs is to imposed tariffs on the countries who don’t bend to his will, most countries will be smart and form an alliance to just cut the u.s. out and spread the wealth within that alliance. Trump is going to lose all of our trade partners, and bring us to the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.

All this means is that USA consumers pay more for whatever Colombia exports and what consumers will need ( supermarket food produce for example) ?? It does not help US farmers who cannot deliver to super markets their field produce because Trump is deporting workers who go into the fields whom primarily collect it !!!\nTrump is basically taxing the US consumers and pushing prices up !! The US importer pays the tariffs (US customs tax at port of entry) whom then passes it onto the consumer !!\nThe consumer can of course not purchase the product which would hurt Colombia exports; the importers would have to hurriedly find another source whom would probably also increase their price because of demand.\nTrump is a loser and always will be; his businesses are mostly failures; even casinos !!

Make enemies on our borders thru tariffs on Mexico and Canada. They respond by turning to China and Russia both of whom will give those countries sweetheart deals and make them allies. US trade with China is now only 16% of Chinese exports. Trump no longer has the leverage he had in his first term, and China has learned not to trust any agreements wth the USA because the US always breaks them, particularly Trump. From this point forward, every agreement will be transactional. If Trump goes over the top with tariffs on China, Mexico and Canada it will trigger an inflationary spiral that harms US consumers and an economy already in debt. Voter remorse will be swift.

Tariffs are an effective negotiation tool Trump used during his first term. Mexico does very little with cartels who run the border. They don't stop the trains and caravans coming through their country or enforce the stay-in-Mexico rule but...they will on Jan 20th, 2025.

Trump promised Tariffs, and that is what his voters expect. Tariffs on all imports will make Trump supporters very happy. Also, Trump supporters want Obama Care, otherwise known as the “Affordable Health Care Act,” to be ended and Trump really wants his supporters to be happy.

First Trump's administration is going to be jacked up with little known outliers with controversial and radical ideas. That is what Trump is attracted to. His ideas of tariffs and mass deportations are deplorable. They both disadvantage the US instead making it better. However, the tariffs may as well be a scam to get companies profits as when Trump says 10% on item A, companies are going to raise the cost of item A 12 to 15% or so and blame the cost increase on tariffs. For deportation's, I hope most people realize that many working the fields as low wage labor are very well illegals, but they are hired because they keep food costs low. Raising all prices for the poor Republicans will not be beneficial because prices on goods can increase 15% or more but their employer is certainly not going give them a 15% raise to match the cost of living. So Trump has already made the business environment good for more profits by planning to make life more expensive for everyone so business can absorb the additional profits. Probusiness politicians help businesses make money and that money comes from households and the government. And making the government spend more means the government needs to tax more. But TRump is cutting taxes for the people that have the most money. And Trump raising prices with tariffs justs makes households poorer and business richer. Naturally, the stock market will record highs when all the indicators are that business will be making much greater profits from households when Trump takes office.

When the magats have to stop spending money on red hats, gold shoes, fake NFT's, trumpy bears, my pillows, trump diapers and his other imports because of tariffs, maybe they will be happy.

If the border problem is the only reason why this lady and supporters are voting for Trump, then they have a narrow to no idea of what Project 2025, tariffs, getting rid of the Constitution, and his other nonsensical ideas will do to make their lives miserable.
