Canada already has some of the strictest protocols in the world for this medication, leaving many people in agony as they loose access to it. \nDon’t take away something that is saving them. The drug is not wrong, those selling it illegally are in the wrong.

But now am re-evaluating my decision because if this how the US treats their friends and allies, I really feel sad for their enemies. Ok I need some help understanding this. If it’s a dumb idea for the US then why isn’t it a dumb idea for Canada too? As I understand it, the US tariffs mean things imported from Canada get a few slapped on top and that is paid by Americans, to discourage them from buying Canadians things. Why wouldn’t Canada continue importing US things as before and not put extra fees on top, so they don’t have to find new suppliers and cause disruption? Then it is just America punching itself in the face not both of them.

Canada has NO product that we Americans cannot replace with an American made one in a matter of months. Fertilizer is an easy one, Our farmers just need to go back to using natural animal/yuman waste which is ecactly what used to be done. It even saves farmers billions $ because they create a use for waste they now pay to have to process for removal. Lumber and products are also an easy fix. We Americans have millions of acres of timber that actually NEEDS regular harvest to reduce the forest fires that plague us yearly. The list goes on, and not a single item cannot be MADE IN AMERICA that we currently get from Canada.

Picking a trade war with Canada, Mexico, China and major economics is a very bad idea. It will not bring anybody to the negotiation table to get a better deal. It will drive them away from US partnership and they form alliances, new trade routes and partnerships, de-dollarization, etc. Just think why does a country needs USD when they cannot trade with US. BRICS have overtaken G7 in the overall GDP. So, In the end, US will be left alone with limited trading partners. US people will need to pay for tax + tariffs which will put them in a downward spiral.
