I’m with my fellow Canadians, I’ll visit the US (although even then, it’s beginning to look less and less ideal) but over my dead body would I live there. \nThe fact you have become desensitized and don’t discuss school shootings is baffling. 4 or 5 years ago, there was a shooting where I live in Canada. The whole city was on lock down. I believe one elderly woman died, and 3 were injured. The person was caught, arrested, and is rotting away in jail. It hasn’t happened since. People still remember it. My little sister and I were scared, so we hid in my bedrooms closet. (It was on the second floor, and there was no way anybody could break in and get up there easily.)\n\nHealthcare is a huge issue. My family has a long line of health issues, and with that in mind, the risk is just to obscene.\n\nI am a woman. The fact that laws are being stripped away from us by old white men who have no idea what it is like to be a woman in the states is horrifying. \n\nGun culture. It’s near-on impossible or at least it’s incredibly difficult to get guns here. Owning guns isn’t respected. When people die from being shot, it’s remembered and spoken about, even years later. At least to me, it seems you care more for your Guns and the rights to own and use them, then Women who want to have bodily autonomy.\n\nYour political issues. I don’t even know what to say at this point beyond. The entire senate is rich old straight white men who like to make laws about groups they aren’t part of, and strip laws away from others. You basically have two polar opposite sides of the political spectrum and that alone, divides people so deep they can’t even be in the same room for more then 10 seconds.\n\n\nI’m Part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Enough said. \n\nI’m well aware that not everyone in the US is like this. But in my eyes, that’s more then enough to deter me. I’m glad you decided to take a look at this, and see our reactions to the questions. And I’m glad you didn’t take offence to the harsh or bitter answers. Sure Canada isn’t perfect, but it’s better in enough ways to keep me much preferring staying here.

Tyler, thanks for your entertaining and fun videos. My grandfather is a dual citizen but has never renewed his passport or anything and when asked to do so, he outright refuses. He says he hated living there. We live in the Vancouver area of Canada right now. My wife is finishing her registered nursing degree and we are considering moving to washington state, within an hour or so of the Canadian border on temporary work visas (TN1) for a few years. The main reason is the cost of living differences, mostly in housing but a lot of things are cheaper down there too. For example though, the costs of rent or to buy a house in the Vancouver area is insane - 1.5 million is generally a starting point. The cost of a detached house south of the border between Bellingham and Blaine starts around $400,000 ($500,000 CDN). If renting, it's crazy cheaper than here. \n\nThe area we are considering going to is very close to the canadian border, I've never heard of major violence problems in the area. Like one of the other comments you read, we're basically considering moving there to take advantage of a lower cost of living and higher salaries for a bit to try to get ahead. Living in the Vancouver area is such an absolute DRAIN on our finances that it is intolerable. If we didn't move to the US, we'd have to find another place in Canada to go to, but we do like the climate on the coast here. I'd actually just keep commuting to Canada daily to work in Canada since it's so close to the border, and writing the bar exam to be able to practice law in any US state except California, Massachusets, or New York is a pain in the backside to even be able to write it, let alone prepare for it. Just easier for me to keep working here unless we decided to try to make a permanent move somewhere further from the border.\n\nIf we decided to change our minds and apply to stay in the US in the future, there are a lot of the other considerations that other people have raised on top of my own ability to continue as a lawyer. Gun violence in the US is crazy, extreme polarized political views and increasing intolerance against diversity of race, culture, religion, (and while it doesnt affect us directly, it bothers us how LGBTQ people are increasingly targeted with backwards policies and by certain segments of the public), the health care system in canada has it's problems but it's also got it's strong points. We'll never go bankrupt because of a health care issue since we can move back to Canada IF it's ever a problem. Thankfully we are all pretty healthy so it shouldn't be much of a problem for a while at least. And we wouldn't even move there at all if her employment as a nurse doesn't offer health care and better pay than she can obtain here. \n\nOur kids will probably attend post-secondary (college/university) in Canada as dual citizens unless they get a scholarship to a top US school. The costs of post-secondary in Canada appears to be much cheaper than in the US and we have some good colleges/universities that consistently rank high globally.

Take a gander at any large, medium, and even a few small cities.\n\nHave you ever heard of Detroit (once proud home of my beloved Motown music), Baltimore (complete devastation), or Chicago (my home town—don’t make me cry)?\n\nThe entire homeless situation started when mental hospitals were snake pits and certain factions demanded that people be released.\n\nSure, it sounds humanitarian but they didn't bother to consider what would happen to mentally ill patients suddenly left to their own devices on the streets.\n\nThe do gooders actually were foolish enough to believe that the seriously ill patients (schizophrenic, bipolar, borderline, and plenty of others) would take their meds on their own. It doesn't work that way for patients who are not in contact with reality.\n\nNow we add extreme drugs (crack, meth, heroine, ketamine, whatever they hand out at parties, etc) and severe cases of PTSD/PTSS. It's obscene that we have veterans on the streets.\n\nHeath care--?. Pre Obamacare it wasn’t terrible but medicine had become a CYA project. We are so litigious (side eye to John Edwards ) that doctors practice defensive medicine and carry high limit malpractice insurance (guess who pays for that?). Every decision is driven by avoiding lawsuits, not proper patient care.\n\nPost Obamacare, US health care is an unmitigated disaster at every level. We’re short on doctors, too. Many quit and students are losing interest—medicine won’t pay enough anymore to justify $500K in loans.\n\nWe could repeal every bit of Obamacare tomorrow and still not be able to fix it. The leviathan grew tentacles that released toxins into every nook and cranny of the system. Now that they have buried themselves in critical layers, it would be impossible to yank them out.\n\nI have a good PCP who is booked 6-8 weeks out. Specialists? Hah. GI, neuro, and derm? Four to six month wait post referral.\n\nI never thought I would say such a thing but I would probably swap the Serial Sexual Predator occupying the WH for your Little Lord Fauntleroy.\n\nCan Canada compete with us in corruption? Government employees seriously tried to topple a sitting president and not only were there no consequences, they were able to retire on fat pensions that we citizens work hard to provide for them.\n\nOur government is run entirely by K Street lobbyists; our “representatives” don’t even draft legislation, that’s done for them by K ST.\n\nHow about crime? Do we even need to talk about it?\n\nHousing crisis? Prices were already too high when the regime (predictably) created runaway inflation and we saw the end of affordable interest rates. Even 0.25% increase will knock out many buyers; they won’t be able to qualify.\n\nWe are seeing huge jumps; young people have resigned themselves to never being homeowners.\n\nRacism? Again, look to the US. It’s nothing even close to what the make believe media caterwauls about. If white supremacists are behind every tree, where is the evidence? Surely, in 2023 has caught a cell phone video, right? Where are the videos? Show me the proof. There is plenty of footage of BLM destroying property and injuring, even murdering innocents. If we gripe about this behavior, we are raaayyyycccciiiiissssts.\n\nNo rational adult would claim that the US is not a violent country and becoming more so. Nor can we claim to have eliminated racism. That takes time; it cannot be done by force.\n\nOur economy went from smokin hot to dumpster fire in a short span of time. Pre election, head hunters were shaking the trees to find job candidates.\n\nOur unemployment is up as are our taxes with the stomping out of the tax cuts. \n\nDespite the endless sloganeering about how the Trump tax cuts only benefited “rich” people, it’s quite the opposite.\n\nHigh earners lost their pet deductions and lower income taxpayers were quite pleasantly surprised when they did their returns. The cuts were targeted to preserve wealth for the middle and lower classes.\n\nI could go on for another 100 pages but you get the idea and I get crabby writing for free.\n\nI will leave you with the caution that it’s best if you doubt and question any data and any stats coming from our government. Those are seldom legit. If the data comes from a study, always look to see who paid for it. And how large the sample size was; how were the participants selected? We are all on our own when it comes to ferreting out info.\n\nOh Canada!\n\nYou’re welcome.

It’s horrific how these ppl are forced to live, that is NOT life..reading the comments, it’s disheartening to see. Put yourselves in their shoes! Ask yourself many questions. Would you live your life under a corrupt government? Would you allow the Mexican police/gangs/drug lords, to walk in your home, kill your children, your family, got no reason and get away with it? How to start preparing. \n\nTake three days during the work week and turn off your electric and water. Make do with what you can and write down things you needed and didn't have or tasks that were difficult. After you have this list, research alternatives\nEat, wear and consume cheaper. Choose cheaper meals to create room in your grocery budget to put back food. Wear second hand clothes or put a spending freeze on clothes shopping in order to make room to buy what you'll need for the future (especially if you have small children who grow frequently). Consume less electricity, gas, propane by finding alternatives. This may mean using a crock pot, hang drying clothes, using candles at night and opening windows for sunshine during the day etc. With the wiggle room you've created in those bills you now have some money to buy more food storage, medical supplies or invest in a small solar unit. \nMake an edc bag. This is something you will carry all the time (on your person or in your car) that could provide you with what you and your family need for 3 nights. Think about what you may put into an overnight bag if you were to stay at a hotel. This will ensure even if something happens and you're out you're able to shelter in place \nUnderstand how to take care of medical emergencies at home. Remember that in a major event, ems could be down or unavailable for sometime. While this is never the first line of defense in an emergency, understanding how to manage medical emergencies (high infections, deep wounds, pneumonia, asthma attacks, shock, 2nd and 3rd degree burns, poisoning, radiation sickness, torn ligaments, allergic reactions, excessive bleeding) while you wait on help can be life and death. \n Food, water, temperature control are your highest priorities. If faced with a major event where services are limited for more than 3 days, having stored food as well as a way to cook, a way to filter and store water, and a way to keep yourself cool or warm can be life altering. \n\nPlease remember as we are entering or for some of us are already in uncertain times, having this foundation gives security as well as lowers stress. It allows us to feel more in control and gain a more positive perspective on not only our lives but the world. I'm willing to answer any questions from my own experience in the comments if you feel overwhelmed!

This isn't going to change anything. They will still come. May as well just hand over your land/house/security to them now. Eventually, they will take anyway. They already are. I use to love being a Canadian when it was just us living here, not he rest of the world. I have been wearing the same shoes with holes all winter and probably next winter to because I can't afford a new pair and yet, them people are waring all new clothes after illegally entering Canada. Cheaper Tacos. \nI’m seeing some crazy Taco prices in my area. But We can lower the cost of tacos by bringing in more immigrants. More immigrants mean taco shops, taco shops make hot tacos and more tacos in the supply chain is all we need to bring Taco prices down. which means we can eat more tacos. Immigrant = Taco shop = Cheap Tacos = happy tummy \n \n2. Your precious time! \nWhy clean your own Cars, or your pets which take hours and hours. Your time is precious. You can save so much time for so little money and with that time you can work for even more money or go have a great time. Let’s all live like KING! Apply this to everything thing in your life you majestic being. \nCheap Labor + Little Money = More Money and Time \n \n3. Be a Great person without doing anything! \nWe want to be good neighbors, but my room is just too comfy. I know that feeling but you don't get many chances in life to help someone, this is our chance! Also, they are doing all the work. Let us all pretend that we did something and let them in. After this we can go back to playing video games or watching our favorite shows. \n \nYes. In the beginning They will need help since they came here so poor. But don’t you lift a finger. There are Church groups and Organization and if they are lucky, they might have family member. Our government could also pitch in if they really want as they can think of them as a small investment. A seed for the bigger picture, and we think big. We have abandoned neighborhoods and empty buildings and I would rather have hard-working people take over instead of all these crack-up druggies calling themselves homeless. This will build and strengthen our neighborhoods and trickle into a stronger country. \n \n4.Can’t own Slaves anymore, but we got the next best thing. \nCheap labor. We need to have our own Giant Factories and more Labor force and Health care worker relief. Let them in but they must work hard and cheaply and take Jobs most Americans don't want as they are starting from the bottom. Until they master English, they are not a threat to any jobs that you might want, and most don't even bother to learn which is good for us. \n \nHealthcare workers are working too hard. Let’s use migrants and help them out, immigrants can do all the labor-intensive and poop work so our healthcare workers can focus more on the health of the patients. This will reduce hospital bills since labor is a major cost to any business. We will also all receive better care at the hospital. \n \nUS companies and foreign companies are building factories in India or in Mexico when the same workers are at our doors. Let's build them here in the USA and we English speakers will have to manage them unfortunately since that’s the language of the Country. If you speak Spanish and English, you are going to have many jobs. \nEverything important should be made in America with all these workers. We can all have our own factories and business and exploit cheap labor flocking to our Great Country. We must use this to our advantage while it lasts. \nCheap labor we can Build houses that are affordable. Fix all the infrastructure we have been crying about. \n \n5. If War we're ready! \nIf we ever have another World War first one to go are minorities and poor people so, not only does it provide us with a bigger army, but you might not be first to get drafted. Not only that but because we have immigrants we would have stronger ties to those immigrant countries which can come in handy later. You never know which country will become the next global leader and we can always use military support. \n \nIf there are other legal exploitation, we can benefit from having immigrants into our Great nation please share! Canada is the greatest country in the world! It's a free country way more freer than USA and it's a very rich country way more richer than USA and has much more money than USA. There's more rights, money and opportunities in Canada than USA. They have every American thing as well as their own stuff. The people are very, very nice, friendly and sweet and will be your best friend and take care of you and look out for you. The cost of living is cheaper in Canada than in USA and you pay lower taxes and get more money. Everything in Canada is so much, much better than in USA. Canada is heaven!

Unbelievable. So many of us have lost our homes and are on the streets many jobless many disabled many sick many veterans. Why take care of your own just bring in immigrants and give them what little housing there isn't. Don't train us for jobs who are disabled or give us housing or food. Trudeau and Ford disgust us. Rich born boys who had their homes paid for by family money

If you want to save your wealth, you should have a TFSA. The reason why Canada's cost of living is high is that the interest rates are too low. It built an unreal housing market. It is no different in the U.S. I find it concerning those immigrants in Canada who complain about healthcare, all I can say is, if you take care of yourself and plan carefully for your own healthcare, it will work. If you want to see waste, incompetence, and extreme costs, you need to visit the U.S. as a resident for a while. Sounds like you ladies should leave.

Very good video. I am an Australian citizen, and I share your views. Also I want to add another reason why I prefer Canada than Australia. Being originally from Peru, I currently live in Peru, my wife is also Peruvian and a baby with 5 month at the time of writing, however there is no family reunion visa to take my whole family (only my baby who will hold Australian citizenship but not my wife) so I cannot take them both, because migrations force my wife to apply to the Partner Visa, that cost AU$7850 (US$5,600) plus agent fees, documents, ticket price, and other cost. Also the waiting period is about 24 to 28 months. The cost of waiting carries a lot of anxiety, health issued due to the uncertainty and may damage my marriage, And if I get to my wife a Visitor visa, she is not allowed to work and study, and I must pay private insurance, and for experience, private insurance policies and gap costs are very high. My experience about Canada after living here for a few years now: \n1): Healthcare: There are two sides of it. If you need a specialist, forget about it, just live with your disease or problems and hope it will cure itself and won’t get worse. If you are in a life threatening condition and need a surgery, you’ll get it and the medical bill won’t scare you. I needed a dermatologist, never got one, eventually had to fly to the US for a simple treatment. \n2): Taxes: You’ll pay extra to take care of the large aging population of Canada and to maintain the infrastructure in the extreme cold weather. But, you can make a good use of your RRSP and TFSA accounts, and you can also buy American stocks without paying taxes. \n3): Travel and transportation: Forget about public transportation methods like buses and trains. You’re on your own. But a vehicle ownership isn’t very hard here. \n4): Social networking: Good luck with that. Good luck finding friends here or being a part of a friends group. Canadians are polite but not outgoing and extrovert. Most people make a few friends in Schools and College. You’re not going to see people of different races and origin hanging out with each other. \n5): Real estate: Population is growing, population is aging, it’s all happening but what’s not many houses are getting built. Buying your own house isn’t easy.
