As someone from Belgium that now lives in Columbus OH because of marriage, you're spot on with everything. Safety? Limited. Sprawl? Terrible. Rent? Eh it's not that bad. I make a base salary of $82.5k and my wife makes $50k. Our 2br 1ba apartment's rent is about $1000. It's a nice place, but it has some flaws. Our next place will be around $1500. I've told my wife I don't like the sprawl and lack of public transport here and I want to move to a place where that is less of an issue: Chicago, NYC or Boston. However, the latter two have crazy high rent.\n\nI must add, the terribly unsupported public education system in Columbus is by far the worst reason. My wife is a teacher at a Columbus City School that's almost 100% black. White families put their kids through private schools. The rest of the kids have terrible home lives and are therefore incredibly ill-behaved and under-educated. So much so that the teachers just CANNOT keep up with Ohio's learning standards. By the time these kids graduate (and that's a big IF), they would have learned about 20% of what a regular 18-year old would have learned in most of the world. This is in part due to:\n1. Parents that do not involve themselves in what their children do, and therefore do not discipline appropriately.\n2. Terrible school admins that force teachers to lower their standards to have a high passing rate for the school (otherwise it gets shut down). Also, due to the No Child Left Behind Act, admins also force teachers to teach how to pass state tests (repetitive bullshit) instead of important learning materials and/or critical thinking skills.\n3. A lot of these students are pushed into the gang lifestyle and see no future in their education. They don't even try.\n4. Burned out teachers that grew tired of the negative ROI and start giving out poor and inadequate work packets. However, I don't like blaming teachers, especially because my wife is the hardest working person I know.\n\nIt's hard to see my wife come back every day, exhausted. It pains me both for her and her kids. America doesn't give a fuck about education. The big theory is that they're purposely not giving public schools attention so they can be phased out and private education becomes the norm. And if you can't afford it? That's great, we need factory workers.\n\n\nI might convince my wife to move to Europe eventually (luckily a European marriage visa isn't as stupidly hard to obtain as it was for me to get here). Having kids in America is not something I'd like to think about. For now, I'm taking advantage of this high salary to save as much as I can and focus on advancing in my career. Sadly, that's really the only thing America is good for...

I think you ladies are way out in left field and you really don't know what you're talkin about. Unfortunately for some people it doesn't work out for whatever reason usually because they do not want to assimilate very well. I grew up in Ontario to a french-canadian father and an Italian mother in my life in Canada was so perfect said if I had to dream up a better life I could not have done so. I grew up playing all the sports and enjoyed all the different sports and the changes of seasons. My parents had a summer home on the st-lawrence river and every summer we water-ski swam fished, play golf in the morning and barbecues every night right on the water. Even though my grandfather was in the hotel business I was all about sports and enjoying everything about it. I grew up in a town of about 50 thousand about 40 miles from Montreal. When I wanted some great nightlife just drove a short drive to Montreal and it had everything did anyone could want in Nightlife. I have lived in United States for forty years and I can tell you that it really isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Heaven forbid should you get some kind of catastrophic illness you are screwed. I knew a woman who work for travelers insurance for 30 years at the best insurance a money could buy had suffered a couple of strokes and was on the verge of going broke had she not died when she died. People think that insurance continues to pay his long as you're ill and nothing could be further from the truth. This lady was going to have to sell her house to continue paying for round-the-clock care had she not died when she did. United States middle class is getting wiped out. I've seen enough poverty and hardship in this country to last a lifetime. I find greed to be running rampant in this country. When I grew up in Canada there was always the grass is greener on the other side and when I did move over to the other side the US that is I can tell you unequivocally the dead grass is not greener on the other side. There are more millions and millions of people here that are one or two paychecks away from being homeless. And we're talkin 2023. Now let's talk about violence. There is a mass murder in the United States every single day of the year. And a mass murder is defined by four or more people being killed by one person at one time. Killing these so out of control in the United States that now even six-year-olds are shooting their teacher. I find a tremendous amount of built-up Anger from people. Food is very expensive and shelter is also out of control and non affordable to most people. Again I find United States being able to paint a much Rosier picture then does really exist. And there are more con artists and thieves , Crooks, con-artists, bamboozlers, cheats and scammers then anywhere that I've ever been. And I will say this is it it ain't getting any better and I don't see it ever getting better. I find it is everybody out for themselves no matter who they cheat. I live in Southern California and I can tell you that night life where I live is non-existent. Understand that LA and Hollywood they always have to glamorize everything to sell it to tourists. Just remember that things today are not what they were 40 years ago. Middle-class people in Canada would also be just middle-class people in the US. But if your life means anything to you as far as safety and raising a family then Canada wins hands down end of discussion. People that say Canada is boring is because they are boring. That's what I found to be pretty standard across the board. Life is what you make of it. But I will say that you gals definitely need to move away if you don't like Canada. Do not let the door hit your ass on the way out. And just for your information Canada ranks annually as one of the top countries in the world to immigrate to. Canada is the second largest country in the world by land area and next to Saudi Arabia has the third largest oil Reserves in the world. Canada has huge amount of freshwater which most of the rest of the world seems to be lacking and having spent my Summers on the Saint Lawrence River one of the Great Rivers in this world. I wouldn't change my twenty years in Canada for anyplace else in this world and I will be moving back shortly.

Sounds like you're a immigrant yourself, there is like no racism at all, it's more like if you're a immigrant or your someone of a different culture you associate people having a problem with how you're doing things as if it's to do with your race and not your culture. When you relocate to a new country you are supposed to adopt the new culture. A Canadian finds it insulting for immigrants to come to a country and not try to integrate and be part of it. It's ignorant to come to another country and not respect their way and how they do things. Whether you like it or not there is a Canadian way and you need to do it when you come here. You do not come here and act like you do in your country you came from it's not the same thing. You definitely don't come to Canada and preach that there's racism it's not in our vocabulary you need to get it through your head. Is there some racial jargon absolutely but you need to get used to it because it's a lot less than every other country. It is also impossible to get rid of if completely. As well stereotypes will be created because there are stereotypes with certain races that come to a country thinking they continue acting as they do in their country in the new country they move to. Stereotyping is not racism. You will have to need Ian's that might not like certain races because they don't conduct yourselves properly in the country. It's stereotypical and it's expected and should be expected if people coming to a country not respecting that country's values. Nobody wants people going to their country acting like they do in the country they came from. And if the Immigrant can't get used to how things work here than they don't belong in the country they need to go to the country that is a home for them. Canada isn't the Wonderland of all Races where everybody gets to still act like they're in their birth country in Canada when it's not.

This is why Canada wants all the immigrants to come work here so they can drain all their income in taxes to pay for all the old people draining the system. They need workers at low paying jobs to work double hrs. paying double taxes to pay for senior's health care etc. They are also consumers who will have to spend what's left of their pay cheques to just feed and clothe themselves. Leaving so little left to actually do anything with. As a 5th generation Canadian I have struggled all my life to just keep food and home to live and raise my kids on very little. Now due to what has happened in Canada and the economy, inflation, skyrocketing housing prices, my kids will never be able to own a home in their own country. It's sickening. Canada is cold. Canada is not fun. Least fun because of all the rules on everything. Taxes and fees on everything. There used to be much more fun and things were much more relaxed in the 70's and 80's but now it has changed so much that I'm starting to hate my own Country, my province and the Canadian leadership at this time is the worst in history. And get this: I'm so poor I couldn't even afford to move around or travel in my own damned country! We don't even have a universal transit bus system to travel anymore. YOu have to have a car or fly but be damned if you can hop the old Greyhound and go from Vancouver to Toronto anymore and save a few bucks. It's sick and dysfunctional here.

Homelessness \nNot a problem at all, you're not homeless, government's taking care of them, they aren't physically dangerous so what's your problem?\n2. Health Care\nGo visit a country that has a much better health care than Canada, such as China for a cheaper price, you get to travel and fix your health, problem solved. \n4. Technology.\nI think we can all agree that techonology is the reason our societies are fucked up. You can never have enough high tech, you can also never not have tech.\n5. Tax is a bitch in Canada, this one just straight up sucks unless if you're super rich and has a corporation, That means you can easily get around it as well. So don't be a middle class I guess?\n6. Employment sucks here, but it depends on your field, some fields pay pretty well, you just don't get the best of anything in Canada. Toronto however has the most fields meaning you can change your career without moving to another city like you do in any other city around the world.\n7. Hi I'm from Panama and here we are getting more and more visitors from Canada note that I don't say tourists that's because I noticed that they are like on a exploration mission asking prices for everything I guess they are looking for some sort of tropical paradise. There are a couple of things you must consider before going to Canada it's cold as hell even the warmest winter there in cold as hell if your from the tropics, work ethic is totally diferent a couple of minutes late to work is a no no,taking it easy no no, or relaxed easy going of the tropics is a no no, etc. and the social customs vary depending on the predominant immigration in the area. Also take into consideration that some countries are implementing to deduct a percentage of your social security check if you move overseas to live as a expat. For those planning to go to Canada to work retire and go back to there home countries.

First let me say that every country and I do mean every single one has their pluses and minuses Canada's major plus is the fact that crime is almost nonexistent as opposed to the United States where there is a mass murder every single day and a mass murder defined as four or more people killed in One Time by one person this does not even count where there is just two or three people killed at one time they're not included in the statistics the United States is out of control with violence guns you name it and I've lived here for 40 years I spent the first 20 years in Canada in my life was so perfect that I can't even dream of a better life the problem with most people is they move to the larger cities Vancouver Toronto I grew up 40 miles outside of Montreal on the great Majestic St Lawrence River one of the truly great rivers in this world my parents had a summer home on the river and every summer it was water skiing fishing boating golfing swimming you name it growing up 40 miles outside of Montreal if you wanted The Nightlife of Montreal one of the great International cities in this world then you could just drive there in less than an hour and enjoy the great nightlife that is Montreal as someone who is French and Italian I loved the winters because ice hockey was my favorite sport and I played all the sports nothing even comes close to the speed skill and excitement of ice hockey it is like soccer on steroids they're only two cold months during the winter January and February and even then it's really enjoyable as long as the temperature stayed below 32° I was happy because that meant that they could make outdoor ice rinks and I could enjoy my favorite sport of ice hockey all winter long Outdoors as someone who's lived all over the United States over the last 40 years I wouldn't trade Canada for any place else the United States is full of scammers I've been in all kinds of businesses working for different companies and there's rarely a company that I didn't get cheated by and had to take to the labor board for justice and compensation I trust nobody the main thing here is stay away from the major cities of Vancouver and Toronto and you will be able to have a great life with affordable housing and if you're into the outdoors Sports Canada is the greatest and best secondly Canada has the third largest oil reserves in the world and so there are a lot of Natural Resources that Canada has that is wealth for the country that will filter down to the average person what people don't realize is it when you live I've lived in Southern United States and most places the summers are unbelievably excruciatingly suffocatingly miserably hot hot hot at least in the Colder Weather you just put on some great looking ski wear and you can be outdoors and not be bothered by the cold because you eventually a climatize yourself to it Canada is the second largest country in the world by land area and has only a 35 million population there is a lot of room for growth and opportunity and in a safe safe environment to raise a family and at the end of the day that's what it's all about I wish I could say the same for the United States being safe but no it is not and Mexico is they have six out of the top 10 most dangerous cities in the world and Tijuana is the most dangerous city in the world with almost 2000 murders and the year is not over don't believe me just Google it the reality is that the drug cartels control everything in Mexico and the police and politicians are afraid because the cartels are so ruthless there is way too much money to be made in selling drugs and the cartels will stop at nothing to make sure they get their money by the way most of my family still lives in Canada and are doing extremely well for themselves and I am the only fool that moved to the US

You both make valid points about Canada. I am 2nd generation Canadian. I do feel like its expensive here and Even I have a hard time landing a job. (Recently got laid off from my career job, they said I didn't have enough experience to work there). My friends who aren't single and live with their partner, have an easier time living here compared to people who are single & living by themselves. \n\nNight life is boring here. However, daytime life specially in the summer is better. I feel like Canada is more for an outdoor person. Depending where you live, there are beaches, mountains, trails, & lakes to explore. Some parts of Canada even look tropical! We have hot springs here as well!\n\nFor the leisure & work life balance, I feel like that depends on the person. I used to work 2 jobs (not because I was bored or needed the money at the time), I just wanted to save more money & help my friend out with his business. I felt like I had good balance of work & leisure. I hanged out with my friends on Friday & Saturdays then I had my 'me' days on Sundays.\n\nIf you are going to move here, do your research, also I don't think people consider their countries dollar into the equation, what I mean is, if you want to convert your money to Canadian... you might have less money then you have. Example, at this moment, 1 Mexican Peso is 0.066 Canadian dollars, therefor people coming from Mexico might have a hard time afford things in Canada compared to a person who is moving from USA. Hey. It all about choice. So let’s get it straight. The people who worked hard to build and develop Canada over the last 200 Years and paid their taxes, that’s ok. First off I am black and a U.S. citizen born there also Canadian. so don’t get offended but I think your video is totally crazy. I family came here from Guyana in the 70’s, moms brothers, sisters. Nobody wants to move back To there country. You two young chicks are insane and don’t know what your talking about. One of the top issues is being black. Seen as black and identified as black when you leave a predominantly Black Country. \nWhen I watch the various Realestate shows of white people buying property abroad as second home or just packing up and moving. I always say it must be nice! People do it all the time back home (not because they want to I know) but for some reason when you move abroad a one bedroom for your single self is to small, the car under $24k isn’t good enough, you don’t want your kids to share a room so you need a bigger house and the list goes on and on. \nCanada is boring if your not in a major city with money to spend you know why? Because people forget the population of the entire country of Canada is only a 3rd, 4th, 10th of the population of certain countries that immigrants came from and in the case of the US population it’s 100x more than Canada. So of course there’s more opportunities there. \nAnd finally imagine if more countries didn’t need visas to travel? They really would just come to make money and go back home or live bicoastal. Even just the freedom of travel half of the immigrants would of settled elsewhere before the year was up or go back home.

Bad things about Saskatchewan:\n-A LOT of snow, A LOT\n- negative 30c is the norm in winter, summer usually plus 25c (It's COLD)\n-housing prices aren't as cheap as the video says... sure you can buy a place for $280,000 :) ...an apartment. \nA new family house made in 2012 costs $550,000, an old one made in 1980 costs $330,000.\n- Not a lot of bang for your buck. Yes, there are jobs in the major cities but the pay isn't so great unless you are a nurse or work in health care. (Best province for upcoming nurses btw) Minimum wage for the win! \n-As I said previously, minimum wage for the win! There are jobs but you don't get paid enough to live without a roommate or almost be constantly broke.\n-Rent is okay. If you DO manage to get a decent paying job, like a teacher, plumber, doctor, etc, rent is cheap.\n-Expensive retirement. Thinking the healthcare is great for seniors? It is. But, get ready to give every last penny to your senior home. A neighbour got a quote from a local seniors home for him and his wife, $65,000 per year (MINIMUM) for the 2 of them. That's how much the old folks home costed.\n-You need a car. If you want to visit outside the major cities, you need a car. In the cities you can survive traffick by bus, but it is better with a car.\n-You can't see northern lights a lot. Not from the cities. You have to go north, north, north, out in the middle of nowhere.\n\nGood things about Saskatchewan: \n-No cougars. Bears and wolves live here, mainly in the north.\n-People are friendly. There isn't as much crime in the 2 major cities, Prince Albert does have a lot though just like the video said, so I'd steer clear of that place.\n-Great education. Good place to raise a family.\n-Great healthcare. Has most covered in universal healthcare I think out of every province. Seniors like to move to Saskatchewan for retirement. It's a great place to retire if you have the money to move.\n-Lots of local stuff to see. A lot of local shops, parks, camp grounds, etc.\n-Rent is cheap. It's cheaper than Vancouver or Toronto.\n-Food prices are alright. Not good, not bad, just okay. Even a poor single mother can buy some food I think.\n-Lots of land. There is lots of flat land here. Not that you could own it all lol But it is pretty to look at.\n\nHighlights/Best people to move here:\n-nurses\n-immigrants for fast food jobs\n-rich seniors\n-rich families (good place to raise a family)\n\nPeople not good to move here:\n-single people\n-poor seniors

All Canada not only Vancouver it’s very isolated.\nPeople can’t afford to buy a house because the house marketing is 3 times the price compared to USA. The houses have shitty materials compared to my original country, and you simply can’t built by your own and that’s why every price rises.\nAnother issue you didn’t mention it’s there is no scholarships, it’s incredible expensive to get a proper education like university, and even so, they no offered scholarships. In Mexico almost everyone can reach the opportunity to study to be anything (lawyers, doctors) AND there is why you can get professional services everywhere. Here in Canada the business never have profesional services (like a real Human Resources, who studies for 5 years to be the best influence in a company, or a real engineering taking care of the machines in a plant. Canada only hire the cheap hand to avoid paying and I can understand it, but if more people could study more money moves in the country.\nAnother issue is there is not any public transportation into the cities or provinces, so if you don’t have a car, a driver license (it’s not easy to get one) and pay the super expensive insurance (it’s incredible 10 times more expensive than in Mexico) your can’t move from the place you are. I agree that it is boring, cold, expensive, high tax high services, I mean people didn’t work for a year and got paid plenty for nothing. Taxes are incremental based on income as they should be. Coming from a major Latin American city, you have no idea what it is to live under fear of assault or harm at any moment, having corrupt politicians, police, and people in general. You are privileged having been born here because it is much easier to make a living, with good laws, you should go to places where people drink on the streets and pee and shit everywhere. I’m sure there are better places in the world but you will never feel like at home, and each place will have it’s own difficulties. I don’t think we all need to live in the same place but don’t believe that you are able to move to any place in the world if you weren’t Canadian.

To me, the problem is threefold. a) Toronto and Ontario in general - and perhaps the whole of Canada - are accepting way more immigrants than they have quality jobs for. If you need taxi drivers and plumbers, maybe this experience should be valued way higher than education as part of the existing immigration programs (which is not the case). At least then potential immigrants know this before they come and get stuck in low-paying or relatively OK-paying but repetitive and demoralizing jobs with debts and mortgages that become a trap preventing them from leaving. It's also partially on immigrants themselves who come to Toronto to only find out there's 100 people competing for one spot and that you need to be exceptional - or connected through your ethnic network - to work regular white-collar jobs. b) The official bipartisan policy of non-integration. The naive expectation that having people live in ethnic enclaves will somehow make the overall culture richer is not what happens: instead, people tend to stick to their own communities and the common culture thus gets eroded and limited to economic and financial matters. This makes some cities feel like one large business with everyone networking 24/7 instead of socializing normally. And arguably, having the right culture / social life is what motivates already successful people move in the first place. So when they come and they find out there's nothing but money talk and hustling, they leave (if they're smart). Quebec is doing better in that regard, but then Quebec is not really Canada and it's been pressured to cave in to the same money-centred, uncultured and disconnected society by the feds for decades now. The States is smarter in that it actually makes sure to integrate its immigrants (and let's be honest, many immigrants like being part of a new culture if it fits them) c) Treating real estate as an investment and not as a basic necessity (as Japan or some Nordic countries do, for example). That coupled with a lot of Asian money being laundered in Canada through immigration channels and private equity firms buying whole apartment blocks for rental purposes has led to the highest housing price increase in all of the developed world in the past 20 years or so. The median price of a condo in Toronto is higher than in New York despite the massive gap in salaries and the fact that New York is one of the most expensive cities in the world to begin with. Some draconian measures are needed here to prevent foreign - or even out-of-province ownership -, second property ownership and corporate ownership for renting purposes.

I do love Canada , it was my first love moving from poor, war ravaged country in Vietnam. But it is no longer the country that I used to know. I've lived mostly in Vancouver and Toronto and I can tell you,If you got a family and you're not making 10-15k/month, feesl like you're just scraping by. Tdot was good when I moved there in 1984,TTC rides and cup of coffee used to be just a quarter and houses were just about 100k on average. Now its almost impossible to live near the core of the city to buy a house unless ure making high six figure or move out to smaller cities like Brantford or Windsor to buy one. Not only that but nothing is letting up here, food , insurance, gas ,taxes we gettin hosed to death here. After 40 years here, think Ive seen enough,Im cashing out my house in Vancouver, shipping out to Eastern Europe to retire.

I like how y’all have created this video by not applying a negative undertone rather more of an informative approach to caution prospective movers of what potentially awaits them. All I would like to highlight is the fact that some people will experience all these points as negative aspects or maybe even one or two that might lead to the breaking point.\nIt all depends on where you come from and how life was in your “home” country.\nYou might come from a higher tax environment with non existent healthcare and education. From that perspective, 40% taxes might look better and the healthcare might be great or crap depending on what your health issues are. I personally haven’t had any struggles with most of these aspects - finding a great job was relatively easier, (key word - relatively) the healthcare system worked for me when I needed it to, I was mentally prepared for the high taxes, I culturally adapted to the point where people thought I was Canadian and didn’t realize I came in from a very different environment. I’m sure this cultural adaptation helped me with my job and made it easier to live here.\nAll in all, you can say I’ve had the “perfect” immigrant experience that most people would dream of. But what do i think really? Personally, I have come to realize that Canada at the moment does not fit into my personal goals and values and that is okay. Loneliness away from people you love can be tough. It just isn’t the same feeling making new friends and hanging out with coworkers who are much older than you are and in a different place in life. I’m very close to my family and friends who I’ve grown up with and are on the other side of the world. My parents are getting older and I want to spend as much time with them as possible. For that reason, I might consider being somewhere closer to them. I’d perhaps consider coming back here some day when I’ve got my own family and kids which I currently don’t have. To me, that’s a personal value high on the list. I guess my only takeaway from this video and advise to people looking at each of these points - take each one and compare it with your home country. If you think you’re better off in Canada, then move - it’s a great place! If not, think about it real hard and weigh out the pros and cons.

Canada is what you make of it. You can arrive rich and end up poor and you can arrive poor and end up rich. In between that, you can have a great life that balances your needs. I’ve seen immigrants succeed simply because they see the opportunity in front of them . They worked hard in their own counties to stay just above the poverty line ,but when they apply that same effort here it pays off ten times greater. I feel that compared to a lot of immigrants, natural born Canadians come across as spoiled and a little lazy…we are. We haven’t had to struggle the same way someone from a poorer country might have. I’ve talked to people who’ve worked ten to twelve hours a day just to stay afloat. If you did that here you could make plenty of money to live and have some left over. As far as owning a house goes,yes it’s expensive . I feel that homeownership in any country is relatively expensive. Here is a tip; use that soaring home prices to your advantage. Houses are expensive but you can make a lot of money buying and selling. I recommend putting together a buyers group and share the house for a few years, then sell at a profit, buy a bigger house or two smaller houses.try to buy the worst house in the best neighbourhood and fix it up slowly . That house could double in value in five or six years in the Toronto market. This is nothing new of course ,the people from India and China seem to do this a lot here ,it drives up prices and profits. On the downside to this ,you are now part of the problem. As the housing prices are driven up the non wealthy can no longer afford to own a house . They are at the mercy of high rents with no rewards of ownership. They are caught in a cycle of hard work and (relative)poverty. This could also be you if you can’t keep up the house payments and are forced to rent.\nHow well you speak English is important but your native language is also useful here because Canada is half immigrants . As a Canadian that speaks only english (Irish descent)I have to say to all newcomers that I’m very impressed that you have learned a new language and that you may even speak more than two! Don’t be embarrassed about your abilities . I find that in my experience , Canadians do not look down on people just because they don’t know English. In fact ,I’ve known people that have lived here for decades and still know very little English. They are comfortable in their communities and they function just fine. Learn as much English as suits your needs and be proud of any gains you make.\nOutside of Toronto are other cities that you might consider when looking at southern Ontario.From my experience,most are generally the same, just not as big . There are large immigrant communities in London Ontario, Hamilton and just outside of Toronto where housing is just a little bit less expensive but the commute to work is probably longer. This is just my opinion but in the small towns there are less people of colour , (which is what people of no colour call everyone else . I wonder if I’m called a person of no colour in some other culture ? LoL ). That might make it harder for you to feel integrated ,if that’s what you want. I’m not saying that people from other cultures can’t make it in a small town , I’m just saying that it’s definitely not Toronto . Here, people of any nationality can feel like they have a place where they can belong . It seems that no matter where you are from ,there is a community already here that’s set up restaurants and stores and clothing shops and newcomer support systems. And if your from Portugal or China or India or Africa or the Middle East, there are large groups of your kin here that have established roots for generations and you probably know this already.\nToronto means meeting place and that becomes evident quickly. I was born here and it’s one of the things I love the most about my city. I’m not going to say that there isn’t systemic racism here ,the people of no colour still kind of keep the top position , but as we become a minority in a decade or so ,I hope that will shift to a broader spectrum. It’s certainly happening already. One good thing is that the police department tries to hire people of colour so that racialism may play a smaller role. We’re getting used to seeing our politicians more and more reflect their constituents.\nI have to talk about the weather. Because I’m from here I’m used to the extremes of minus thirty and plus thirty . Eventually you get used to it (somewhat). Dressing in the right clothes is important. Summer is easy , but winter is different. It’s trying to kill you. Spend the most that you can afford on winter cloths . If you can afford a quality parka you should get one. The hood can be drawn around the face and stay out of the wind.\nIf not ,think of layers with a outer layer that blocks the wind. We have things called long Johns that are basically full length thick cotton or nylon pants that go on under your pants and a pair of extra thick socks. Buy your boots to fit your thick socks. Try to get the best boots you can afford ,it’s something that you might spend a little extra for but never regret.\nAll in all we are a fairly organized and peaceful society. Most people are friendly and will give you a chance . We have a good social safety net here and you don’t have to be homeless or starving if you don’t want to. There are people and organizations set up to help ,that truly try to get people back on their feet. It’s a good investment that pays off in ways that matter for the quality of life in a big city. I’m not putting my American neighbours down when I say they do things differently. They have their ways ,we have ours. This is just something that we do because we’re trying to learn how to help those that society has discarded or can’t find their place. Sure we have one or two areas where the homeless have pitched tents and we have some resources for them if they want. Unfortunately The mayor recently forced a small camp to move from a very visible place to more scattered locations. There were social workers involved as well as protesters trying to protect them. I didn’t like that happening and I want to see even more resources dedicated to them ,but on the other hand ,we are trying to avoid something like what happens on the streets when it’s just ignored. When I see YouTube videos of the streets of Philadelphia I’m extremely saddened. I thank the lucky stars that I was born in Toronto Canada.\nFor all it’s pollution and expense and crowds ,I think it’s a great place to do almost anything your heart desires . For every ugly building there is a beautiful park ,for every honked horn there is a birds call , for every cold and dark day there is beautiful sunny one around the corner.

I know Canada is not perfect and I find you’re a bit hard on the red maple leaf... just because you don’t find the same things as your native country. It’s like\nfrench people coming from France, going to Quebec province an complaining about the food, the weather etc... well we’re not France, sorry to say! But I can\ntry to understand your situation; it’s probably inevitable that the comparison between your country and Canada would show up eventually. I see regularly \nimmigrants moving here and it’s true that it’s not easy. (Some people will have to be cab drivers because they can’t find work in their field). But you have\nopportunities if you work hard. I have the example of a Russian truck driver who move here with his family (wife, two kids). The man started by working for\na general transport company, then was able to buy his own truck. Now he’s able to work with whoever he wants. So I think every experience is different.\nOne other thing I noticed is that for families coming here it will always be easier for kids (even teens) to adapt quicker then their parents. I live in the east\n(the maritimes) and there is not very large cities. Some immigrants that come here will stay for a while but then they would move to a larger city (like\nToronto) because that city must have the most ethnic diversity in Canada. For cultural differences true that Canadians are like Americans in the «none»\nfashion trending. It’s a different mentality then Europe because over there fashion is a statement; you are judge on your appearance. Here, not as much.\nIt shows you don’t like winter and if you don’t your not a real Canadian! :-) Don’t generalize, a lot of people here like winter. And for taxes I don’t have a clear\nexplanation other then we have a huge empty country that needs roads, infrastructures, etc. and someone has to pay for it! (fun fact, all the population\nof Canada could fit in a country like Poland... it shows how empty it is here). Finally, and I heard this many times, maybe the people or the part of the\ngovernment to blame is Immigration Canada. Maybe they give to much of an idealistic image of Canada! A compelling documentary, thank you. Why is it that black people continue to be so demonised and de-humanised? It is such a shame that follow Asians and even American Natives play such a role in perpetuating racism against African descent people, but I guess they have their issues of identity. Real shame nonetheless, but one thing at the time, we still have a bigger hurdle to overcome.\n \nOf course, it is still not easy to be a black woman, man or child today. Sadly our mothers are still crying for their children being killed or overly punished by the police institution, our kids are still targeted if not simply despised for being beautiful, bright, talented, lively and brilliant beings with deeper skin tonalities, and hair that speaks for us otherwise. It is still dangerous because there is so much hatred across the world against us as we are coming to understand. And hatred is unpredictable. It comes in different ugly shapes. \n\nAfrican descent people are institutionally exposed to a lack of opportunities based on race, leading to the disproportionate poverty levels in our communities, and poverty brings your far closer to crime. That should not be so difficult to calculate. We're faced with higher mortality and disease rates, covid 19 has rubbed that to our eyes, care systems medical world is in less favour and neglect black communities. I love Canada, I have a lot of family in Toronto and have been there many times as well as Montreal and Vancouver. Tbh, there’s no place like the US. We have all types of climates and geography. From deserts, tundra, rain forests, etc. We have some of the best mountains, beaches, and cities on Earth. If you like cold weather, stay up north like Chicago or Boston. If you like normal every season weather, we have many places for that. Mediterranean weather in California, and tropical weather in Florida. We have it all. We have the best sports fans in the world and every sport is accepted here. You can even see so many people play Rugby and Cricket in many parks. Many great universities throughout the country. Best attractions in the world for all age groups. High pay and decent cost of living in most part of the country. Supercar culture is the best in the world especially in SoCal (my personal favorite), TV and entertainment, and the list keeps going on and on. I know that the government in this country is pretty messed up, but hopefully that will be resolved in the future. I also respect the safety that Canada has, but have to admit that Toronto is getting pretty dangerous in some areas. Plus the History of America is amazing. Hello, I just watched your video. Three years after you made it. I hope you are still with us and a very belated Welcome. Many people throughout the world seem to have so many stereotypes about Americans. Whether it is good or bad there typically is some truth in a stereotype. Overall it seems like you are enjoying yourself and no matter what there is no place like home. I would think no matter what your current situation is you still miss Canada as I would miss the United States if I were to move to Canada. \nA couple things you mentioned in the video were not correct and as with anything there may be a little truth in the matter but yet still incorrect.\nThose who do not have health insurance are not charged or taxed $150 monthly. There is a provision in the affordable care act (ACA) that penalizes certain individuals who make above a certain dollar amount. The amount is either $150 or $300 for the entire year. I concur any monetary penalty against anyone for not having health insurance is outrageous. I could be wrong but I believe this aspect of the ACA was never implemented under President Obama and it was indefinitely suspended or revoked by President Trump. I also feel like I need to address your thoughts about the United States all about war. I believe the American people are like most other people and want peace and civility. The government and major defense contractors have differing opinions at times. Of course there is plenty of people who are war hawks but they are in the minority. Most of us are absolutely sick of war. We currently have been at war for almost 19 years. That's six complete world war 2's in their entirety. \nI think you were being awfully generous when you said obesity is on par with the rest of the world!! Unfortunately there is far to many fat people here and the problem is only getting worse because the media says be happy and proud you are fat. Celebrating obesity is absolutely insane and it sends the wrong message to young people. If a close one is fat of course I love them but I also tell them privately that they are a walking heart attack. 15 years in America as an illegal. Man, I am so tired of these people who think they can break laws and move from one country to another with impunity. The question that never seems to be asked is why are these countries south of the border in such chaos? Why?\nWhy can't you find a better life in the country you were born in? Why? \nYou really need to figure out how to turn your hellholes into productive civil societies. And if you can't, tough. \n\nHere in California we've been overrun with illegals. Of course, that's no secret. However, I think the illegals and the libs here think it's a right of passage if you can speak their so-called Spanish. I say so-called because most of what I hear sounds more like Ebonics than Spanish. As a matter of fact, if you live in California and you're looking to study a second language, you should be concentrating on Mandarin, Russian, Japanese, and Korean. Those are the languages which will have real commercial use. But if you must learn Spanish, please go to Spain. That's the only place I've heard Spanish being spoken.
