It is true about all the laws and rules in Canada that interfere in your life. We lived in the Middle East for 5 years and could not believe the difference. Less laws, less rules, less annoyance. It was great. We lived in Oman, Bahrain, and Kuwait (though Kuwait had a bit more rules that made life hard mostly when it came to owning a car if you were a foreigner). Also, the weather. Yes, it is very hot in the Middle East but we loved that. I hate the cold here in Canada and there is no guarantee that summer is going to be warm and sunny, so it is hit or miss. Most people who say Canada is the greatest country in the world, have never lived in any other part of the world and therefore, really cannot be sure of their statement.

I’m from PG County, Maryland, and have lived in Alberta for 14+ years (family is Canadian)… Canada does feel safer, however I miss the sheer amount of “choice” you have in the states. Whether it’s airline, mobile phone company, places to shop/eat, USA just had wayyy more to choose (obviously because of the larger population). USA and Canada each have pros and cons. Generally, I don’t see a massive difference though.

Dad thought my brother and I would get drafted. \n\nHealth care sucks for different reasons. The horror stories I can tell you that I'm STILL going through here in Canada is insane. \n\nLived in Texas just outside austin south/east going towards Lockhart. Different breed of human beings down that way. I loved Austin. Great food, good people. Though my dad caught shit because his parents Sicilian. Dude is a little less brown than aba. People thought he was Mexican. \n\nOther than Slag hills. Loved Pennsylvania. \n\nFlorida.. its Florida. Lived in Daytona. Too young at the time to have fun. I hated it but might have been better if I wasn't 10. \n\nI dunno. Ask me anything about both. I miss a lot about America. Dislike and like a lot about Canada. Depends on what you want to talk about.

I kinda want to leave canada to the us....and ill go in a red state....probably texas or arizona.\nI dissagree with you with the door locking.. we used to be able to do it but not anymore and its just getting worst. You did miss the one important issue and that is health insurance. I think you did a good job of discussing he issue again and were genuine with your opinions. I went to montreal in 1990 and it was great because it was like Europe and so french and unlike the US. I dont know what it would be like to live there but for vacation it was fun. And i think it is obvious because you both have money now the us Healthcare system is superior to Canada. If i dont have money for health insurance, i would love Canada for being free. But if i have serious illness, the us is superior.

I was born and raised in canada and 8 years ago we just gave up. My family decided that enough was enough and left our beloved country. \nI miss a lot of things. I miss the snow and the friendly neighbours but honestly: its so much better in this poor, almost third-world country on the edge of europe. \nFor everyone who wants to move to canada: pls dont do that. You will regret it.

Currently in Japan Japan is so bloody Boring I think Canada is better I miss South Africa the difference is that I make money here and the peace no need to worry about crime but SA is way better

Taxes are good. You or your parents probably left from a country because of the problems caused by low taxation/misuse of public funds. Taxes are good. Great points though. Canada has a lot of problems buy the good easily outweighs the negatives. I love and miss Nigeria but I don't think as an atheist, left leaning creative I'd ever be able to go back. Also...Taxes are good.

Moving to Canada seems like a fantastic idea but it’s a trap. Immigrants are enticed into the county with all of these promises of free healthcare, freedom and entrepreneurship. It’s all a lie. high taxes to pay for “free”poor healthcare not to mention the governmental overreach and political corruption. You become enslaved. I grew up there and I never want to go back. I miss the mountains and my family… that’s it.

Many of the same reasons would also apply to the US. I think getting your citizenship/passport is important so you have the option to return if you decide to leave. I lived in Canada but currently reside in Florida. I don't miss the long winters but I like the summers there. I think the crime rate and health care costs are a big plus in Canada. We have Miami beach but frequent shootings there have kept me away. So it boils down to an individuals choice.??

Wow! How did you miss the Biggest Reason why people, ESPECIALLY NATIVE CANADIANS, are Leaving Canada??? Because the government, especially under Trudeau, is moving fast and furious through a Dictatorship and right into Communism. Do you really not see that? I know MANY Canadians who moved down to Mexico, where Americans like me live, who have also moved to escape Totalitarianism. Peace to you and all the awakening ones.

My wife, my 3 kids and I used to like Vancouver but not anymore!!! The weather is why we plan to leave for good but also the expensive rents! I also heard about horror stories at many hospitals (and yes, I have worked in Africa and to be honest, Africans hospitals are way more functional than the ones in Canada in terms of human aspect… there they care, Canadians do not give a shit about anyone!!! And I am saying this as a Belgian!!! I have some African colleagues at work here and at least 80 percent of them either want to go back to Africa (one is actually going to start an Afro business there and build his own house) or move to Europe (one of them plans to live to my homeland Belgium and two others in France as apparent the pensions there are way better than the Canadian one) as soon as they get enough experience in canada! None of us at work , including me, want to retire or get old here in Canada! For me personally, it is the Canadian extreme loneliness and lack of willingness to open to others that really shuts me down… I am fed up and and tired of paying taxes in a country where some (not all) hospitals and some retirement homes treat patients like … objects, not human beings! I now understand (as before I did not) why even some of my African colleagues are looking forward to go back to Africa or to some of them, immigrate to Europe! .. none of us want to be left alone and depressed in this so highly individualistic and unfriendly, falsely “cool” country called Canada… a country that claims America and France are racist countries when not even one CEO in Canada is coloured! I am also fed up of Canadians being cool!!!! Cool???? Yes, their humour is crap and they are all too serious… not astonishing why so many end up being depressed or on meds to be able to function! \nLast: I am fed up with 1. The stupid credit score system which makes North Americans anxious and frustrated!!!! Stupidity does not even exist in France or Belgium where I am from! 2.food is Canada is … not good…lol… really close to being bad! 3.the country is boring… reason… people are so disciplined and nothing happens!!! I just miss Europe even if we are far from being perfect and I prefer our imperfections to the Canadian perfect society which end up making people boring and annoying!!! 4. I was born in South Asia, studied and worked in uk for 5 years. Immigrated to canada and stayed for 8 years and am currently in Hong Kong for some family reasons over the last two years in covid. What I can tell is there is no place like canada in the whole world. It’s heaven on earth. I get it that you can earn a lot of money outside canada , but you cannot get peace of mind and tranquility as you would het in canada. I miss canada every day and would be going back soon.

I am a Registered Nurse in the Philippines, then migrated in Canada in 2014, and become Canadian Citizen in 2020. I tried to be a Nurse in Canada, but it was extremely difficult.. Fastforward, I got to enrol in a bridging program for International Nurses in 2020 in Ontario and I was so happy! When I was about to start the program, COVId hit and they cancelled the school.. Not knowing if I could secure a seat in the program (the usual waiting time for the seat is 3-5years!) I decided to just moved to US and work as an RN.. But I really miss Canada, planning to live near the border, but the rentals are 3-4x expensive compare to US! Canada is becoming more and more expensive too.. ?

I left Vancouver 32 years ago, bought a one way ticket to Asia as I was sure I was never gonna move back. Don't miss it at all, especially the rain and taxes. I can retire pretty much anywhere in the world and Canada is not in my list. Maybe just visit Van during the summers to see my old friends from time to time but that's about it.

In your opinion/to your knowledge, do immigrant teachers easily pick up their trade? I'm a high school teacher and am thinking about emigrating. I'm from the Netherlands, so the financial bottom line is pretty much the same, if not slightly better in Canada. I worked for 2 years in the US, near San Francisco, and I miss the way of life, there was just more to do and more nature, I've been thinking about going to Canada because the climate is somewhat more alike to my own, the country is better set up than the US, and I love the nature.

I am from Pakistan. Studied and lived in USA for over 10 years. Don't know where my time has gone so fast. Life is very busy in usa (I lived in Chicago, Denver, Orange County, CA and LA. People have to work two jobs to ends meet. Most people have to share housing...that really sucks. Constant expense (rent or mortgage payments are so high people have to constantly work. Whatever time people get they run chores and stay home and chill. You see ultra rich or people on welfare having fun at the beach. I have had a very close friend from pakistan came to usa same time as I did. we both never had enough time to meet up on regular basis. even when we met we had so many things in back of our minds running. I had couple of girlfriends (of course at different times) but they had other boyfriends at the same time. And number one thing they had on their mind is was get money from you. What you wear and drive is what you are. People consider you obsolete if you wear non branded shoes or older models of branded shoes. I traveled extensively in the US and Canada. But in East Europe like Romania and Poland I found people very friendly. Now I am back in pakistan facing basic problems like traffic jams, noisy honking streets and so on but for some reason i feel worriless and relax. whenever i go out, people start to talk to you and you feel like home. everyone is super friendly and is available for help. however you cant really trust people with money though. hahahha. After living in USA for so long I do really miss many things about it though. the efficient system is definitely a big plus. and i have realized that some times i like being all alone for extensive period of times. but knowing that i can meet up anyone any time gives me peace of mind. i have realized hard way that man made martials can amuse you to some extent only. you need live beings are you.

I'm from Canada ?? originally and I speak English, no French. I'm from Winnipeg. Manitoba. I live in Huntsville, Alabama the rocket city!!! ?, although I visit my family that still lives in Winnipeg which is my brother among others and friends I grew up with. I never forget my roots from the great white north!!! I actually miss the ❄️ and my family. My daughters and grandchildren live in Miami, Florida but after all these years Canada still hits the heart for me. I must be feeling it as I'm getting up there more. You never forget where you come from.

The problems exist , but Canada provides tonnes of opportunities for immigrants who come here empty pockets. \nI started as pizza delivery driver and in few years got acknowledged as Engineer. Now I make top 10 % salary. \nThings ate getting expensive but it is everywhere in world. \nI love Canada as my second home. I think most people move back because they miss their first home.

It's my second year in Canada (Toronto) and I am yet to experience the niceness that Canadians are so known for. I hope it's just a Toronto thing! I miss the basic courtesy... Sorry, thank you, smiles.

It's a pity that Americans couldn't just move into Canada. I would have loved to move there. Lived in Michigan before I moved to Texas so the weather wouldn't even be a problem. I actually miss the cold and snow. I feel like the US is becoming a third world country.

Cool video! I'm from the United States, and I've been to Canada back in May 2001. I was 11 at the time, but it was part of a 3-day trip with my elementary school. We were in Toronto. I miss my experience there so much. Although I'm not a fan of cold weather, I would love to be back in Canada because new healthcare here in the U.S is too hard for me to get. I typed this comment on May 31st 2020 when at the time violence and riots are occurring in the United States cause of police brutality......again! + COVID-19's still a major issue.

Hello, I just watched your video. Three years after you made it. I hope you are still with us and a very belated Welcome. Many people throughout the world seem to have so many stereotypes about Americans. Whether it is good or bad there typically is some truth in a stereotype. Overall it seems like you are enjoying yourself and no matter what there is no place like home. I would think no matter what your current situation is you still miss Canada as I would miss the United States if I were to move to Canada. \nA couple things you mentioned in the video were not correct and as with anything there may be a little truth in the matter but yet still incorrect.\nThose who do not have health insurance are not charged or taxed $150 monthly. There is a provision in the affordable care act (ACA) that penalizes certain individuals who make above a certain dollar amount. The amount is either $150 or $300 for the entire year. I concur any monetary penalty against anyone for not having health insurance is outrageous. I could be wrong but I believe this aspect of the ACA was never implemented under President Obama and it was indefinitely suspended or revoked by President Trump. I also feel like I need to address your thoughts about the United States all about war. I believe the American people are like most other people and want peace and civility. The government and major defense contractors have differing opinions at times. Of course there is plenty of people who are war hawks but they are in the minority. Most of us are absolutely sick of war. We currently have been at war for almost 19 years. That's six complete world war 2's in their entirety. \nI think you were being awfully generous when you said obesity is on par with the rest of the world!! Unfortunately there is far to many fat people here and the problem is only getting worse because the media says be happy and proud you are fat. Celebrating obesity is absolutely insane and it sends the wrong message to young people. If a close one is fat of course I love them but I also tell them privately that they are a walking heart attack. Those are sad stories! The person responsible for that miss information to immigrants should be prosecuted for miss information. Canada was never and will never be an open house to immigration. The option of illegal immigration should not even be allowed in Canada. This is only an opinion. So better luck with our immigration officers but I doubt it.

Before I moved to Brampton, I had no idea HOW MANY Indians actually lived here. I'm of south Asian descent but I grew up here as a Canadian. I still keep my culture but I'm Canadian FIRST. It's true too, some of them don't believe in deodorant, holy shit I literally had to tell a guy who sat beside me on the bus that he smelled. I know it was rude but if someone doesn't tell these people, they will think not wearing deodorant is normal. I miss the Canada I grew up in. My friends were mostly white but there was a nice mix of us: white, black, asian so we all got along. Today, everyone is in their own groups, strangers are the enemy, there is so much more segregation than there has ever been. Not long ago at a Tim Hortons I heard an Indian guy who was clearly new to the country telling his friend he didn't have to learn English because everyone in Brampton speaks Punjabi, it was insulting hearing that.....Listen up Indians and any immigrants coming here: BEFORE you come here, learn English, LEARN the customs and learn the CANADIAN WAY. You owe it to Canada, give something back before you start taking.

I was raised in Canada and lived in America for 3 years, this was around the time Hurrincane Katrina hit. I miss living in Houston, but wouldn't change for the world. I love it here in Toronto. The guy made good points about the obvious differences between the neighboring countries. I'm full of Texas pride, but Canada rocks!!!
