I sure hope that non Canadians can support Canada WITHOUT supporting the brain dead Drama Student who has been pretending to lead our beloved nation for almost 10 freaking years. Just a I love the USA and most of it's citizens even now, WITHOUT feeling obligated to even like the current POTUS and his gaggle or mouth breathing, knuckle dragging nit wits.

The speech of Mr Trudeau, the way Canadians have shown solidarity for one another, today it all puts my country, The US, to shame. I am ashamed of what my government is doing and I am disgusted with the people doing it. In Mr Trump’s first term, as eclipsed as they were by the many many many actions and attitudes he imposed on us that embarrassed and hurt us as a country, there was the rare occasional decision I could at least understand even if I did not support it. Since taking office literally not one thing he has done has made sense to me as an American. I can only say how sorry I am for what the country I love is being used to do to you all, especially our closest allies and friends and in particular the people of Canada today. I grew up in Commerce Twp Michigan. I visited Canada regularly and, even as crime from Detroit poured across the border into Canada, Canadians always treated us with respect and welcome. I never imagined that would stop but now I find it hard to imagine how it might continue and it breaks my heart.

As a Finnish guy living in Germany I am so glad to hear PM Mr Trudeau´s speech. There are mighty many people around the world who respect and love each other, and try to keep to do so. Chapeau Canadians!! And, the EU is not to screw the US, it never was.

Ah yes, the trade war that Canada will surely lose. I love Canada. Wouldn't trade it for the world, but this is a losing battle by which citizens on both sides will feel the full effect. Trump appeasing Putin is a chess move, that the PM seems to be overlooking. The US can't afford to go to war with Russia, but at the same time, it needs resources within Russia's neighboring region. So the US will do what they always do, and had people listened to what Kissinger had to say, they'd be better prepared for this. Nonetheless, let's stand proud and strong, and come together as Canadians in order to get through this.

1/2: Myself and the saner half of the US that read, understood, and voted against Proj 2025 understands why they need to levy retaliatory tariffs especially as a Michigander who's lived less than 4 hours from Canada all her life, who has family in Quebec and Ontario, and is a job-seeking policy professional and international trade nerd who now cannot in good faith seek a job in the federal government. We have been looking and still do look to Canada as a model quite a bit and love Canada and Canadians to pieces. We Michiganders especially in the central and eastern UP and Detroit and Ann Arbor area are friends, coworkers, and family of Canadians. Some are even dual citizens. It is said that if America imposes a tarrif on Canada, then Americans will pay more for Canadian goods. Possibly electricity too. Now, if Canada mirrors the actions of the US, then Canadians will have to pay more for American goods. So we are all just hurting ourselves in a way. Don't you love modern leadership? When people asks what it means to be Canadian, I say it means not to come here and impose your religious and cultural traditions on other Canadians who have been here for over 400 years (ya, I know some people will comment on this and say what about what the colonialists did to the indigenous people, and I’ll say ya but we conquered this land - shiity but that’s reality). If you love your culture and religions so much, why didn’t you stay in your native country. Can you imagine going to an eastern country trying to assert your own beliefs and traditions and not not honouring their culture?! Good luck with that. I’m not religious but this country was founded on Christian beliefs. Imagine going to an eastern country and… well you know what I mean.

Im Canadian and while the tariffs are gonna suck, I completely understand why Trump is doing it. Consequences? I think Canadians are suffering the consequences of failed leadership just as we have here in the US. With the election of Donald Trump it's perfectly clear that the policies have changed here in the US. I wouldn't be too worried about the future of either countries at this stage. I’m from a south Asian country Living in Canada. I have never found Canadians to be racist towards me or my family. We respect Canadian culture and heritage and we blend in well. Our kids are Canadians. They are not sound Asians. I don’t brain wash them to think any other country is grater than Canada. They have strong Canadian values and will be devastated if someone ever discriminates against them. I have taught them it’s a privilege that they were born in a such a great country and to love and respect their country.
