My Nani died longing to go back to her haveli in Rawalpindi. She used to burst out in tears and blamed Jinnah and Gandhi for separation from her homeland. It was really sad to hear her stories. They lost everything. She lost two of her daughters on the way up the riots. They went searching for them but never found anything. I can’t imagine hungry, exhausted, homeless mother dealing with loss of her children when still frightened that Muslim mob will rape or burn them any day. People say it both sides. But it’s evident from history Dr Ishtisk Ahmed quotes it was Muslim who started the riots first in bihar, bengal and Jinnah originally supported uprising in parts of Punjab, he wanted to show that we can’t live together to justify for separate state. Sadly now we have more Muslims in India then Pakistan and they live happily in our own neighbourhood. We attend each others functions and study in same schools, sit on same benches, use same school bus. It was all to fulfil Jinnahs desire to be supreme leader of Pakistan.

Ohhh if it was her own child I’m sure she wouldn’t be saying that’s ok.., there are many like her out there. They get those papers and they think they work for the White House. If she would’ve visited Mexico and had a kid while visiting and didn’t have the money for a green card it would have been a completely different situation. For those just because you got your papers do you not think that there are people that came here as infants or kids to immigrant parents that came to work to provide for their kids it’s not that easy to get your green card it cost thousands of dollars. Many immigrants that I know and worked with including myself, I came here as a refugee. Immigrants are the hardest working people I know. Unfortunately a lot of the ones that came here as kids grew up in some neighborhoods that are not so great and mainly are kids that were born here that are in gangs or doing drugs or violent so don’t blame immigrants saying they bring all this with them it was already here … drugs gangs violence was already here. Gangs started in the White House with their red and blues. Then they say they are taking all the jobs.. the jobs have always been here but people that are citizens are too lazy to go get jobs or keep jobs ( not all citizens) but the ones that are complaining immigrants usually come from villages without any media or drugs or gangs ect. They simply come here for better opportunities or for jobs. They come to work not to freakin take your jobs… this country everyone is a damn immigrant this country was taken from the natives taken with violence by killing them , rapi!’ Them. I've lived here 6 years and can't wait to leave. Salaries are just enough to get by. I work full-time as an analyst and am looking for a minijob just to save money, which I already live quite modestly. It's easy to come across nasty unfriendly people, neighbors, service people, people in government agencies. I hate people staring in the most unfriendly manner or givng attitude for no reason other than they are nasty people. Don't get me wrong, there are nice people as well, but the bad experiences outweigh the good. Beauracracy is overbearing, personalities are underwhelming, the food scene is underwhelming, learning German is a big burden when you work a full-time job (and now I need a minijob too??). The country seems like it wants to diminish the human spirit and ambition. I definitely regret moving here. Many housing companies are over charging rent. I found out the company, Deutschewohnen, who owns my apartment was overcharging me by nearly double!! I had to go through a year long court procession to get them to lower it to the legal price which I won. And now they sent me a letter last month saying they are raising my rent, which is illegal and I have to go through ANOTHER court battle with them. Of course it is exhausting to try and find another apartment. Some people search up to a year. What a joke. And not to mention the dating scene. I've been single the entire 6 years and I'm quite an outgoing, friendly, loveable person. Dating Germans comes with own weird experiences and I refuse to give them a chance anymore, for my own mental health. If you're POC, it's not uncommon to come across strange sexualizations and general lack of understanding other's cultures. A couple years ago I was attacked by 8 men while walking home at night. I ended up in the hosopital and there was an investigation opened. The police asked me why they attacted me, which I didn't know since it was unprovoked. They just followed me for awhile, surrounded me and started beating me. The police said it was probably because I'm Asian. Meanwhile, I'm not even Asian!!! I'm Latino. ??‍♂This is the type of ignorance POC have to deal with in Germany. Also, I only have 1 German friend and all my other friends are immigrants (which I love) but this poses it's own frustrations because many people move here, then move away after a few years when they learn they can have a more fulfilling life elsewhere. So keeping long term day-to-day friends can be a challenge. The entire system is exhausting and there's not enough balance to bring joy to my life to want to stay. When I lived in NYC, an African American aquaintance had just moved there after living in Berlin for 8 years. She warned me not to move here because I will never feel I belong. I didn't listen. That was a big mistake. Germans can have Germany. I'll find my joy elsewhere. End of rant. haha

Its really sad how our own people are defending her. Shame on you guys! And if you think white people there are the natives then RIP to you. I'll add some context to our government. Prime minister harper who was an economics major I believe started saying no to the aboriginal peoples stopped catering to them. During the election it was a collective that all natives would vote ndp and the liberals were second last only behind the green party. Getting closer to the election Trudeau promised if elected to legalize marijuana and fund more efforts towards missing indigenous women ( that's a whole other story in itself). Trudeau won a majority government. They won't admit it but alot of blue collar people voted for Trudeau because of the legalization of weed. Fast forward immigration grew and new immigrants were strategically placed in certain cities and areas to vote for the liberals. The next election Trudeau lost the popular vote but won based on Canada's version of the electoral college. This time around I don't think he can win I've heard very very few people in this country say they want him so in a year things may get better or the damage is done.

There is more to this story than this report says. It’s complicated. I have seen behaviour of students once here. How much support they get from families? If they have to pay their tuition , housing and other living expenses they seem to have to work more than what they are allowed. Overcrowding of homes lack of housing spots not gaining knowledge and skills required. Fine tuning reason for need for immigration and developing qualities in immigrants that countries vye for. Changing the composition of population should not be the problem. Creating conditions for getting the right fit is needed. Point system was good I think but too slow to fill the gap of people needed. Municipalities and province are also to be accountable. How do they manage the fast changes. This student route to immigration started less than a decade ago. I find the speed with which housing needs increased mushrooming of colleges increased and beneficiaries of facilitators that responded to market demands have I think created the problem. A grass roots observation. Seeing just a portion of the problem.

YGood day. For from context I'll reveal a little about me. I am around 27% Indian, 34% northern African people which is around 61% combined. My other ancestry includes Wales, Sweden, Norway Scottish and Irish, Hebrew/ jew as in from 12 tribes of Israel, However, the world calls me black Jamaican born. I live in small town with population under 41,000 people in northern Ontario Canada for past 21 years. I remember when I came here with company contracted to build and say very few black people mostly French African and some mixed black with some Chinese probably total under 20 people other than white or indigenous peoples. Over the years was steady increase of black, Chinese, Philippino, and my Indian doctor and his family to maybe total around 50 none white none indigenous peoples. Just before pandemic we had a large number of Indian students which was awesome to see considering my heritage as my grandmother on dad side was Indian. But a year before pandemic we noticed many started working in convenient stores and fast food places like most high school students do to save for college/university which was becoming a problem for Canadian students as some employers got incentives or cheaper labour to maximize profits. As pandemic rolled in so it seems more Indian students from other regions in Canada. So, Canada, Ontario, and small town I reside already had huge housing problems as some homes we even to be condemned and indigenous homeless from north increased crime rates and now we had students living beyond building code occupancy with shared living causing rentals to shoot up in prices as landlords became greedy and selfish. This small town of under 41,000 is by some estimates over 55,000 by increasing Indian students who for past 5 years fighting to get permanent residents even though they came as students which proves the goal was always invasion and coming as students was the ticket. If you and rest of new immigrants don't see the problem yet, I'll continue. 95% of taxis have Indian drivers, 98% food and other delivery Indian, 90%+ convenience and groceries, clothing and all stores 90%+ , vehicles on roads 70% Indian, my son barely got into college with 90%+ Indian population in college and his class is 2 white students, himself only mixed , and 2 Africans and 22 Indian students who cheats on a regular basis but professor afraid to confront as they are quick to call racism. But even bigger for me is these Indian students/new immigrants have no respect for the history of Canada and USA not knowing how indigenous peoples were raped tortured and murdered to take over this country and then enslaved African people to build this country while they raped tortured treat less than animals and still suffering with fighting for equal rights for over 400yrs while still being racially profiled and beaten and murdered by police officers because of this colonizers system. Now you come here and benefits from black and indigenous peoples struggles and claiming rights when you have not been fighting the battles with us or for us. Also, the criminal aspects of your community is not being taked about as well which includes extortion to businesses owned by Indians, car thefts, drug trafficking, human trafficking and other criminal activities. There's so much more than just saying you feel unloved by the people you're taking things from for their children and grandchildren and generations without showing any respect as that is defined as selfish. And it is middle class that pays the taxes in our country. People lost jobs, migrated back to homes they grew up in. They took all the apartments and started remote jobs. The USA has inflation. Rent has gone up, food costs, gas, medication. That's all we can afford. So more people out on the streets. At this time, there is a world wide immigrate problem causing more homelessness. We faced over millions from Mexico and NYC got immigrants from all over the world. The city is trashed. Ohio got thousands of Hattis people. Europe has immigrants from Africa and Asia. Our country and other countries have absolutely no infrastructure and funds to support these people. Ohio is asking for government assistance. The solution now is strict immigration laws and border laws. Everyone that is not a USA citizen must be sent back to their country. Visa cards. Passports. Hungary has the top security system (google) to keep immigrants out of the country. Worse. Thief and crime have skyrocketed! Everyone in NYC are robbing anyone they see and stores are\nclosing. They don't get arrested because anything under $1000 is not a criminal offense. The USA needs to get a grip! These people are asking for handouts, which means the USA poor will not get benefits. It is not just Canada. USA people are getting out of the cities! This is a world wide crisis. Say your prayers. We really need a savior to show up!

As a Canadian child (early 1970's) I collected money with my candy on Halloween for people in Bangladesh. We have food banks and shelters and assistance programs for those suffering misfortune and our society WAS designed around public sharable services and programs. When I was a teen, a Guianese immigrant co-worker told me Canadians are stupid for providing handouts to immigrants and he laughed at me for buying his house with my taxes. In recent years there has been an influx of new residents whose focus is how they can take advantage, what they can get for free and those who try to cheat the system and cheat others. The scams and cheating that sends thousands of Indian students to Canada for an education at a school that cant take them is the same kind of scams starting here. The fraudulent proofs of income banks were receiving for house purchases has resulted in an artificially inflated housing market. I just bought a house and my Canadian born Indian neighbors literally gated and locked me out of $6000 of my land, while we were on good terms, because the felt like it. We were a society built on honor, trust and respect and while I wouldn't say its all the fault of Indians, there are by no means a small percentage and its getting worse.

They should all be sent back for being there, Canadians have the right to protest and these are not Canadians, they have temporary SINs starting with a 9 and we can blame the public and private colleges for pushing them in to up their enrolment. They should be protesting at Conestoga and Loyalist as to why they had full time recruiters sent to India with no legal background promising a fast track to PR. I work in HR and have been saying for 7 years that these intl students being pumped in to take a BS program at a college to fast track a PR are a joke and now finally people are waking up. Also, communication wise, how can these people graduate when they can’t communicate in English clearly and misunderstand basic questions, another thinker.

The only thing I would say cause you seem to be very young. Is that brampton actually in the 70's and to early 2000's used to be mostly a white and black community and then other cultures. I am born in Toronto I have a cousin born in Toronto who currently lives in brampton she owns a house in brampton for about 25 years. And is going through a lot mentally with the slamming. We got of people from India mostly in the last 2 years, but it's been going on slowly over 10 years and she's not doing well with the overwhelment of Indians and we're of black Jamaican heritage. So just so you know, brampton used to actually be white and then black was actually the second largest population and everybody else was after that. And then in the last 10 years they started coming but it wasn't in hundreds of thousands and then in the last 2 years it blew up insanely. As that man described is like an invasion. I now live on the West Coast of Canada and the same thing has happened here. And it's been a lot for me Canadian born. I've always grew up with every culture. I've lived and worked around the Indians that used to come here were literally not even on the radar. I mean you see them, but you just they just blended in because most of them had assimilated and were doing their lives. The breed that has come over specifically in the last 2 years is what is making it even worse cause if they acted like the ones who came before 10 -20 -30 years ago. They probably wouldn't stand out, but then again when you bring in almost a million, into all of Canada, they would stand out, but maybe people wouldn't be so agitated, if they had tried to assimilate and be respectful to the other cultures here and that is the number one complaint I hear anytime, I see interviews. Is people saying they don't assimilate? They're very rude to anybody who is not them. They are just interacting with the environment. The way they do at home, Canadians are more quiet and try to be respectful of other cultures. We like to just have their own space and our own peace when they're moving throughout this space and a lot of people describe the energy of the Indians coming in almost evasive into your space and then not really carrying anything about invading ur space. They act like, so what's the big deal if I'm in your space and that has been the number one issue is just the rudeness. Not assimilating and imposing their culture, speaking their language, not attempting to integrate with other cultures showing actually a lot of racism to some of the other cultures. And that has been the biggest problem. So just so you know, cause I can tell you're young. I'm North 40 years old and I can tell you. The demographic change has been so intense everywhere in Canada especially in the last 2 years. That I have even seen podcast with Indian people who have been here 10 -20-30 years, saying the government needs to figure out a way and get a good swath of these people gone because they are. Staining them with a negative brush. Cause I can tell you. It's only in the last 5 years. That I notice Indians. I've grown up around every culture. And I just don't notice individual cultures in that way. Until in 2022, Trudeau took the guard railsl off the foreign worker program and the student Visa working program. And just said Hey, anybody want to come bum rush the door now? And India is known for having middlemen in India that work with Fake Diploma Mills scholls with brampton having over 80 of them that the middlemen work scamming Indians by telling them if they pay anywhere from $5000 all the way up to $50,000 even higher to get fake school acceptance letters, so they can come here to get the word permit and work full-time or with companies that provide fake LMIA job offers on the black market, which is illegal under the I.R.C.C, but that is a thing that they had prior to 2022. And when Trudeau took the guards rails off when it comes the requirements and basically. Made it a free-for-all and as India already had the scamming infrastructure in place that kept their population moderate and it just allowed th scammers to go nuts, so that's why we got mostly Indians. Other cultures do it too, but it's so tiny. It's not noticeable. The Indians already had the infrastructure in place that when they took off the guard rails, it was easy for them to switch and start selling these opportunities to go to these fake schools was over 80 of them in brampton t such a lightening speed. Hence why we got slammed so hard-and-fast with that specific community.That just really we're coming here to work and send money home and that is also why a lot of our banks are now struggling with cash reserved because they're sending money home. So just thought I'd give you that angle. I understand you're doing it from your culture's perspective mostly but you're missing a whole bunch of information. So I thought I'd fill you in actually, brampton used to be a white and black city for a long time, and recent flooded in the last 2 and why it happened from that community so quickly in 2022

It is all about economy and business, The Government is collecting huge capital from sponsorship and visa applications and processing system, and Colleges, Universities are making lot of money from foreign students charging 4,5 x fees, also people they move to Canada ?? ? they sell their properties and bring all the money to this country to start the business, providing jobs and contributing in to building Canadian economy even more stronger, we can’t say anything bad to any community just because of some bad people. In my opinion we are all Canadian and we love ❤️ our Country, we are civilized people and should respect each others, and Government should make good policies to beneficial for the Canadian peoples.\nLOVE ❤ FOR ALL\nHATRED FOR NONE\n???❤️??????

We are caring and understand all human rights, but when people start taking advantage justin Trudeau should stand and dont give fuck about all rules, we should think, do we actually care about human rights? For example one needs only a visitor visa to get citizenship Just need to say im gay/lesbo family friends behind him/her to kill. Person will get free hotel until you won't find home. Then person will be paid per month to take care yourself. If you need to study? Of course you will get all free education. Thats why government running out of money for those who are retired, worked hard for years and earn those retirement cheques.Human rights and other rules are good on papers but in reality, people always find out loop holes to take advantage of rules. Selling LMIA owners of subway, gas stations, circle k, convince stores owners made millions till today. No wonder why asian have more homes than actual locals? Still, the roots are being deafness by the government as big pie cut was serving under table by thos sitty colleges. Everyone is responsible, but right now, everyone pretending they know the issue now and stopping this and that. That's the biggest joke i have ever seen. I can talk and write hours and hours about this issue, but actual citizens still sleeping.

People need to stop trying to game our immigration system. The abuse is hurting the Canadian people and immigrants. We have mass homelessness and housing crisis, a drug epidemic and high unemployment. Our economy is in recession. There are no opporunities here anymore. The Canadian dream is ruined. Its very sad.\n\nPeople who arriving with no where to live or work and are living on the streets in -40°. People are dying on out streets becoming isolated in a foreign nation they dont know how to survive in and lots are becoming depressed and addicted to drugs or start commiting crimes. During Covid they were saying there is a labour shortage no there was not the business owners didn’t want to pay workers MORE money matching inflation thats way the business owners were hiring international students so they will just pay them less money . New York opted to be a sanctuary city. I guess they thought it was OK since they were so far from the southern barter but now that they’re being hit from the north and it’s not Canadians doing it. They’re flying in. It looks like and they’re just walking over the same thing they’re doing on the southern border. They say they’re finding airline ticket. They’re finding passports cut up like these people are coming in illegallyand New York opened up the floodgates themselves. They wanted to be a liberal sanctuary city. I have been living in canada for 3 years now and I Agree and Disagree on this video. Yeah, Canada has one of the largest natural resource but utilities bill is more than that of India. Yes, canada's population is half of Gujarat's population, but just check the rent in canada once. Many people here prefer living in an EV to avoid rent. Canada may be exporting fertilizers, but Canada has to import food and veggies from other countries and its damm expensive. Ab koi log bolenge, then go back to India.. I am not saying canada is bad. The only reason i am still here in canada is because of its work culture. Work culture in canada is wayyyyy more stress free than that of India's. And just dont get me started with the amount of crime and gun shots. Coz I have seen many news related to gun shots in metro and buses and people gets killed without any reason. And one of the worst things in canada is Drugs. Just last week, I took a walk down two blocks alone at 2 am. It literally scared a shit out of me bcuz of the druggies and homeless people. Even my canadian colleagues are fed-up of this drug abuse and crime. \n\nSo, canada may look all goodie good from outside, but reality is way diff than that.

I have to say as a white Canadian i have met some Indian people who are the nicest people but I have also had some that were the worst kind of people personally from my experience it has mostly been those who have come since the pandemic which is due to our government not properly screening people. As for brampton I was going to school and my instructor was Indian and I was surprised when he started bragging about when Indians first arrive in canada that they are taught by there church how to take advantage of the Canadian government systems and legally sue people he literally told me that and i was shocked that he actually bragged about that and thought it was perfectly ok i don't hate him or any Indian people but that kind of thing does happen alot in brampton and it definitely doesn't help Indians in most people's eyes especially when there's some bragging about it .and frankly same with the YouTube videos talking about taking advantage of our food banks not good at all especially when people are relying on them to feed their children.It also doesn't help when someone states there opinion and automatically it is called racist.

There was an incident were a cricket match was going to be shown in the mega plex put they did not show it something happened that was not mega plexes fault that it was not being shown there was a group of Indian students who started screaming at the ticket counter. It’s because of behaviour like this Canadians are hating international students from India .?. I came to Canada in 2016 worked in IT until I had enough money saved up moved back to India and bought land and built a house just started buying more land and when I had enough moved back to India . Us Indians can be successful anywhere so way not be successful in our country. Do agree with your perspective. There are bad people in every group. But we can't ignore the fact that the Punjabi filth is the main issue here. In their case it would be better to say there are only a few good ones. I have personally seen a large number of them who can't even speak basic english and have a CLB 9 on IELTS. I'm amazed by the check list that goes on in people's minds. You can't predict the future and even your Soviet union stopped at 5 year plans. I left Canada on a whim in 1994. I never thought I couldn't come back if I wanted or needed to. My bet is you met a guy in Serbia (let's say) and want to be in a reasonable place where it's financially possible to build a home and start a family. My understanding is that people are being played upon again, in-fact the real threat is de-dollorization, about which nobody talks much. As noticed recently through the news, manufacturing is returning back to West from China which obviously will demand skilled labour. Dollar loosing it's value (due to de-dollarization) and once immigrants starts leaving Canada, this will add on to the trouble exponentially, leaving Canada unattractive....When I say, skilled labour, then I mean the real working guys, not the cozy European immigrants. There are now quite a few news stories in Canada of immigrants leaving the country - some back home and others to the USA and other places. Many just get a Canadian passport and then leave. There are public health care and pensions, so it can be an asset and also a convenient travel document to have. A lot of Canadian university graduates have a very hard time finding work in their fields and a lot of them look to the US for a better future. Both immigration and unemployment in Canada are much higher that in the US - so more people are chasing fewer jobs that often pay less and are taxed more than in the USA. Opportunities are generally a lot fewer in Canada than the US, and the business environment is not as favourable, and taxes significantly higher. You would be getting some of the entrepreneurs from Canada moving to the US for more favourable conditions as well to launch a business and also now a lot more rich investor types, so-called high net worth individuals wanting to relocate, because they just raised the capital gains tax in Canada. Capital gains is also triggered on inheritance in Canada with a deemed sale of property and assets, so rich people would prefer the American system and want to be residents there for tax purposes and have their assets grow in value in the US compared to Canada. There are very large numbers of foreign students and other categories of immigrants which may have as their goal going to the US after getting a temporary visa to Canada which is easy to get - maybe something like half a million to a million people in those categories depending on the year, plus around another half million regular immigrants and refugees now. The Trudeau administration has increased immigration to record numbers. It has been steadily going up over the years for several decades since 1990. Because of family re-unification it can have a snowball effect and could significantly exceed 1 million per year. A lot of the sending countries have much larger populations than Canada, so there are a lot more that can be potentially sent to Canada in the future. About 1/4 of the population of Canada has been added in the past few decades. Add to that visitors and temporary visas - that is a lot of people potentially moving to the US. Before the 1990s Canadians visiting the US were not required to have a passport and a drivers' license or birth certificate was adequate. Now a passport is required. It is impossible to effectively control the long Canada-US border, so there could be some unified policies in that area agreed on between Canada and the USA on immigration and refugees. Canada currently has a very open immigration policy with the government actively seeking out more immigration beyond its current processing capacity and trying to take rejected immigrants from other countries. The Canadian government, especially in recent years under Trudeau is immigration hungry. It might be the only country in the world doing that. What some news reports are now saying is that some immigrants are actually leaving, since they find it so difficult in Canada and some are worse off than they were in the countries they came from, which were considered to be less developed than Canada. \nWashington currently has more immigration controls and administrative competencies than Ottawa, so US pressure and influence is a faster way to get reforms into the system than waiting for local politicians to do anything, which is unlikely. Canada is seen by some as a backdoor into the US. Biden's immigration policies could be seen as very conservative in Canada compared to Trudeau's. It used to be in the news about how refugees were trying to get to Canada and walking across the border in Quebec and out west from the US earlier, but now there are more news stories of immigrants leaving Canada trying to go the other way, probably due to high costs and unemployment because the government took in more people than it could absorb into the economy. They have the idea that immigration drives GDP growth so that they can borrow and spend more, expand the civil service, etc. without making any cutbacks or efficiencies, supposedly without the Debt to GDP ratio getting worse, just by bringing in more people as if that would drive the economy. A lot depends on who you bring in as well. Are they going to go on welfare, are they going to increase crime, will they somehow contribute to society, are they a net tax benefit or cost in terms of government services, will they invest money, will they start a business and create jobs for others ? Those issues do not factor into government decision making in Canada for the most part. Ontario Premier Doug Ford did say there were too many foreign students. It is bad planning not to consider those factors since there are other costs that grow with those policies as well, and infrastructure has to be expanded. I think that the real immigration numbers to Canada are not transparent or made public, nor are the costs involved, if anyone even knows what they are. Nor is the impact on crime. You can guess from what the reports are in other countries. The Fraser Institute has made some estimates on the net costs of immigration to the government budget a few years ago, which were very high and which by now have increased - the cost equivalent of several new aircraft carriers each year. They are big numbers which are not publicized, but it amounts to the fact that immigration is subsidized by the taxpayers in Canada and it is not paying for our pensions as an ageing society as has been claimed. There is less money for education, health care and pensions per person, and those social benefits will probably have to be reduced over time. Social programs can only be delivered to the extent that the government has money. The bigger social system a county has, the more such immigration policies are going to cost. Trudeau has been expanding various social programs as well, so higher taxes and debt are likely with that approach. Then more productive people and companies will want to leave Canada and go to the US. Probably the government does not know what the actual numbers and costs are and doesn't actively keep track of that information beyond what is required. Probably nobody knows what the true immigration figures and their associated costs are in Canada, and hardly anyone has even studied those issues. If they can just walk across the US border and get papers so easily making an asylum claim, it is not surprising, since it would take them longer to get a regular visa and work permit if they did it legally. You could call that a loophole in the US immigration system which is being exploited. The US is better governed in general and has a better system in many ways, but I am not sure if it is the same on that. People have arrived on boats and have not been sent back. At least in the US you have more open information about those issues. In Canada it is hard to find out anything about it. Deportations from Canada are very few. \nOn other issues in Canada when voting in federal elections you have to show a government issued photo ID like a drivers' license or passport to vote and bring a card that was mailed out to eligible voters that gets updated addresses when a person files their taxes. I have never heard of mail-in ballots in Canada, but there are remote areas of the country in the far north who may have special system for voting. It is easier to get a Canadian citizenship than US and many more citizenships are handed out in Canada each year in proportion to the population than in the US. Canadian might be one of the easiest citizenships to get in the world. The official line now is that it is a country of immigrants. Based on current trends, will very little opposition to it in the parliament and most MPs supporting it, future immigration to Canada could increase to several million per year because of the rapid growth of population in the world, and the momentum already growing of immigration to Canada, so it may change significantly in the future. Historically around the world you can see many examples that country names, borders, flags and languages change over time with population changes, so it might not be called Canada anymore in 50-100 years. For example, Bulgaria used to be called Thrace which had been a powerful kingdom in antiquity and had a different language which is barely known about anymore. Over the past 2,000 years it has gone through a number of changes and had various regimes governing it, has been independent and also part of several different empires. Canada has only been a country for a short time in comparison and has been been going through significant changes. Trudeau has said that Canada is a post-national country. Canada is also going through a period of critical self-examination and deconstruction-revisionism. A lot of what had been viewed as positive from its history now is seen more critically, with re-naming and removing historical figures now seen as negative.\nDiscussing immigration policy critically is considered by many to be taboo in Canada, unless a person is saying good things about it in general. You can hear people say that the government isn't processing enough people, for example, but not often that there are too many or that it costs a lot of money. The trend of migration from Canada to the US would only increase much more in the future as it is going currently, and its role as a stepping stone to migration to the US could increase. The way this would be seen by many in Canada is that they are losing valuable people to the USA whom they consider assets, since a lot of officials have been trying to bring in more people into the country, but not everyone wants to stay in Canada nowadays because of a lack of jobs and opportunities. I say people who migrate here legally should get housing and free stuff at first to get them started - but - people who come here illegally should be subject to extremely harsh punishments - up to and including chain gang, hard labor on a prison island somewhere.
