I’m not defending the government in any way, but it’s easy to come into Canada with false credentials and shady people have done it, so the honest, hard working people are paying the price for that. I feel for them, but it’s very difficult for an employer to have to “weed out” someone who gave them a fake Electrician’s Licence for example. And it’s dangerous to simply take someone’s word for it who claims to be an experienced Surgeon. A coworker of mine told us about a place in the Philippines where they will sell you a counterfeit diploma from any University you choose. So ya, it is what it is.

My sisters Canada is still a good country compare to Nigeria where there is no good infrastructural facility, power and security of lives and properties. Look at how organized the government is compare to Nigeria where there is no. accountability. Tell me what is working where we came from. Right now ASSU on strike, government establishments getting moribund everyday. People immigrate from one place to place to better their lives. A lot of people will prefer Canada to Nigeria in-spite of these shortcomings. You can easily walk yourself up right there in Canada. I don’t see much difference between living in Canada and US. If you don’t want to pay taxes you can relocate to Nigeria and make your cool money and no one will come after your wealth. If you live in any part of the world and you don’t want to pay taxes but want to benefit from the facilities built with tax payers money that is corruption. That is my thought

I have to respectfully disagree with you girls on the tax system in Canada. You mention that you cannot be a millionaire or a billionaire. \n\nI really think that is the problem with our generation, excessive greed, everyone wants to be a millionaire/billionaire, but the reality is most of people in this world will only live an average middle class life or below, that has been the case throughout history in every country on earth. \n\nInstead of wanting to be a millionaire you should strive follow your passion and to master your craft, and if and when you do so, the end result maybe you achieving millionaire billionaire status \n\nThis how most rich people got their wealth, they worked at their craft and had passion and eventually they got the wealth that came along with it \n\nI agree with Canada's progressive tax system, the only problems we have run into since 2010 is that the government has been misallocating taxes collected and giving co-operate tax breaks. But the principle of the progressive tax system makes sense, because up until recently (2010ish) it prevented the nation's wealth from accumulating at the top and in the process increased the velocity of money.\n\n This enabled business to thrive because money was constantly changing hands instead of being concentrated at the top. \n\nThis had an overall effect of enabling most Canadians to join the middle class and in turn make Canada an attractive destination for many immigrants including your selves \n\nIf Canadian system did not have a progressive tax system, there would be gross inequality with all the associated problems (crime/drugs etc). \n\nI really think prospective immigrants should be realistic about their expectations before moving to Canada to avoid dissatisfaction. \n\nIf you could not be a millionaire in the country you were born in and of which culture you belong, but some how you believe that you can move half a world away and become a millionaire. \n\nYou know part of the reason you could not even achieve middle income statust in Africa (I am from Africa as well) let alone be a millionaire is because all the wealth in most African countries is concentrated in the hands of a few corrupt bastards in the government. \n\nThis concentration of wealth at the top is possible when there is no progressive tax system and ensures economic equilibrium in all sectors of the economy\n\nIt is the reason why there is no jobs or opportunity for young people in developing countries \n\nDo not get me wrong you can still be a millionaire in Canada, but you will have to really earn it, there is no shortcuts in life\n\nPatience, passion and perseverance is the key.

Racism in Canada is different from USA. In the USA its more racism as a generic term to describe discrimination against ethnical state while in Canada its more about cultural discrimination. From my own experience its still better to be black then arab or indian for a simple raison is that black people like europeans share many cultural similarities like drinking alcohol, eating pork and sometimes smoking weed. Just came here to down vote the video. I'm sure it's a good video and all, but you don't shit on a man's home province and expect to get a thumbs-up from him.\n\nIf you're an angler, Manitoba is hallowed ground as more master-angler species are pulled from our lakes than anywhere else. As hunting goes, we get some of the most varied big game species in all of Canada (Black bear, Moose, Elk, White Tail Deer, Forest Bison, Woods and Plain Caribou, Wolves). Cost of living is easy on the wallet, and life is just pretty chill.\n\nIf Manitobans are the least happy, it's because our Province was founded in revolution on the principal of keeping the Government out of the lives of the people and leaving the citizenry self-determinate, and when we see the people running the Province and Country forgetting that, it annoys us.

Ok. I think the 1st reason says it all. You were not happy.\nI moved to Canada (Montreal and then Toronto) from Spain (Barcelona) and it has been nothing but positive for me. I could drive earlier, studies were so much more practical, I had asthma and it went away (lot less air pollution), jobs were better, bigger houses, less people. Don’t get me wrong, Europe is great but I love Canada as well.

The houses have shitty materials compared to my original country, and you simply can’t built by your own and that’s why every price rises.\nAnother issue you didn’t mention it’s there is no scholarships, it’s incredible expensive to get a proper education like university, and even so, they no offered scholarships. In Mexico almost everyone can reach the opportunity to study to be anything (lawyers, doctors) AND there is why you can get professional services everywhere. Here in Canada the business never have profesional services (like a real Human Resources, who studies for 5 years to be the best influence in a company, or a real engineering taking care of the machines in a plant. Canada only hire the cheap hand to avoid paying and I can understand it, but if more people could study more money moves in the country.\nAnother issue is there is not any public transportation into the cities or provinces, so if you don’t have a car, a driver license (it’s not easy to get one) and pay the super expensive insurance (it’s incredible 10 times more expensive than in Mexico) your can’t move from the place you are. Because of the weather you simply can’t move in a bike.\nPeople live just for pay rent, buy some groceries and buy some pre owned cloths in the thrift store.\nAnother problem it’s many rules to open a small bussines (like selling some food) \nHealth care it’s not exactly free: you need to pay for your prescriptions out of the hospital or if you never been hospitalized. And it’s very expensive to pay for them. Every province has good and bad qualities, except Ontario. I lived in Ontario on and off for about 20 years. Not one good thing comes to mind about this province, not one. I've also lived in Quebec and Alberta, both great. Ontario is like the armpit of Canada, it just stinks, definitely because of the government overreach, extremely high tax robbery on everything you buy, very high cost of living compared to both Quebec and Alberta. Both Alberta and Quebec are wayyyyyy cheaper to live than Ontario, and to be totally fair, the people in Ontario seem to be the most narcissistic i've seen within 3 provinces i've lived in, and with the worst roads. So much car repairs every single year from just driving on the main roads, which are basically just pot holes because they line their pockets with the taxes instead of using the money to fix the roads. The people in gov make so much money, there is none left after their payday to fix the roads or build any parks or things for families. Ontario is actually a bad place to live, especially with other good options available, it's the only province i don't recommend moving to if you want a decent quality of life. You can't even find a doctor here unless you live within or drive for 2 hours to get to the city. It's extremely inconvenient and expensive for no reason other than tax grabs and high fees for every single thing you have to do in life, there's a high fee for that in Ontario.

Canada has no culture of its own. People from all around the world gathered here to escape wars, political issues, or for economic reasons from their home country. When honeymoon period is over (around 5 years) they start realizing that leaving behind their own people, culture, festivals, food, etc was not a good idea. Life in Canada (maybe in United States too) is very monotonous and robotic. Years and years go by\nand people are doing same thing over and over. Weather is very unpredictable to plan out anything in advanced. Due to bad weather entire country is designed to be indoors. People leave their wooden houses in cars to work in buildings with no open windows. Unless you leave in core downtown you won't see people on road as everybody is either in their vehicles, in their house, or slaving away at work. To all people who are looking to relocate to Canada: If you are doing well in your home country then do not leave. Life in western countries look good from far but when you live here it's different. Loneliness and depression will be your biggest enemy. Stay in your home country around your own culture and people.

I know of a few taxi drivers that have law degrees or a PhD in the way they get treated is astounding the young need to be educated not just the Young the ignorant people say they're taking our jobs they're taking our jobs because they're work ethic is 100 times better in some cases in most cases people that are from a country that has benefited them wouldn't know damn thing about a hard life. I have experienced or found amount of trauma in my life in and out of foster homes the day I was born adopted at age 9 back in foster care , addicted to opiates I thought life couldn't get any worse I am now 6 years clean from opiates I find myself among the luckiest women or person on this Earth. Don’t come to Vancouver Canada to study unless your family is rich. I run a rental business here and LOTs of international students either live in basements or struggle hard to come up with rents. I don’t blame them cuz this city is hell EXPENSIVE. Also even if you get a degree from UBC you are gonna get a job as a bank teller that pays like $16/hr if lucky. People suffer from seasonal depression for about 4-5 months/year. Better just stay in your country if it is not in the war zone and has relatively good health care system. If you can succeed in Canada you can do it in your home country. Not trying to discourage anyone but just wanna help people make rational decisions?

I'm from Quebec and i love every Provinces, in 2017 i did a roadtrip to BC and when you see Canada for the first time by road it's just amazing to see how big Canada is: Canola field, Bison, endless horizon, mountains, blue lakes, awesome people from coast to coast, salty water smell when your near the sea of coastal province, beautiful roads apart from Quebec just kidding but not really....My friend and i stop at a A&W in Saskatchewan on Transcanadian Hwy and next to our seat was a group of farmer just relaxing and talking about their day and we would have love to just pay them a drink or something to just listen to their story what they have to say but we were a bit to shy because of the french accent and didn't want to bother them! For me every Provinces of Canada are the best no need for TOP10.

Throughout the decades, Quebecers have voted in legions of woefully ignorant politicians who understand virtually nothing of the day to lives of the people they purport to represent and politicians that have never wavered in their misguided attempts to create disharmony amongst citizens in the name of protecting the French language which should have been an integral part of the education system from the beginning. Most people get along very well with one another and; politics aside and as one who has travelled extensively throughout Canada, I concur with Quebec being the number one best province to live in. On the other hand, if you are part of the native population throughout Canada which has been treated criminally and shamelessly by all that came later and will still be seeking completion of restitution for culture, freedom, land and life that was taken from you and your forebears a century from now, I totally appreciate that you may be offended by this entire exercise.

Why do you think that western society is so peaceful and prosperous? Maybe it's because capitalism depends upon individual innovation. It might be true that Africa has less loneliness but the social order in Africa is tribal, not capitalism which is why Africa as a whole is poor. Many people from Africa are talented and hard-working but the society in Africa or other collectivist societies doesn't reward that individual strength. I wouldn't call it loneliness, it's more like privacy and individualism and it's the reason why the US/Canada doesn't have a problem with overpopulation or violent radicalism. On the whole, I'm incredibly grateful to have been born in America.

In Canada, on average, citizens pay about $7000 in taxes which covers it all, only does it for everyone. You'll hear people complain about government mismanagement, but most of the countries in the world do a damn good job of it. Much better than the heartless system the U.S. has. My father collapsed and went to have his heart-valve replaced at the Heart institute in Ottawa. I paid for parking and needing a place to stay, they allowed me to stay at the doctor's onsite residence. That was it. My father-in-law had his knee-replacement surgery pushed back because more critical needs were placed on the operating room. Healthcare in Canada is a team effort, so treating things like Covid with respect was done much more diligent. Canada had less deaths than places like Florida or Texas. Don't understand where this 80% coverage statement comes from.

For a guy like me living in India, this is a sort of cultural shock! I never knew this side of US and Canada. I guess that’s something to do with the type of governance. It seems like it’s a baggage of capitalism. Focus on “you”. When India was socialist (still is, to a lesser extent than 90’s, people were more open. If a person was going to city from village, a dozen of villagers would accompany him till he boards the bus. That’s gone. Here, sometimes, the socialising is too much. You’ll be asked about personal questions like why are you not having a kid. When you’ll get married etc etc. Some people feel big cities are better. There is socialising but people mind their own business. I am so very glad that I was born and brought up playing and dancing on streets!!

Tell me one thing , if you dont get the quality of life in your country and you slog your ass the whole day every day all year round and you don't get back in return anything then whats the point ?? The lingering and deeply embedded poison in US/Canada is suburbs. This not how humans have ever lived, or should live. It isolates you from entire human society and only outlet is commercial spaces. It's built to optimize consumption. You absolutely require a car. You sit isolated in a box then get out b$$y more and then get back at home to watch ad$ on TV. Contrast this with how humans even now live in a society that's normally built. EU, Middle East, and old Asian cities. First residential and commercial areas aren't apart by 15 miles. Instead much of the first floor is filled with appropriate commercial shops and offices. Then most streets are walking/biycycle streets, you can bring a car in but wont use it as a road to get to other side as streets are not straight and crampy. You have 5-8 blocks of buildings with walking streets in between them, these clusters of buildings are then surrounded by car roads. For 80% of things you can leave house and walk 5 mins to get them. Groceries, accountant, pharmacy, hardware store, computer store, mobile phone store, ice cream shop, dentist, general doctor, beauty saloon, barber....... all in walking distance located at first floor. This layout promotes cohesion between neighbors, builds community, builds famliarity, provides safety, kids can play in streets as there is no traffic, and it's not unnatural to have social circle of 30+ people due to this. Back to suburb... only natural human connection you are gonna get is church, walmart, parties, and once you leave college/hs... you are done.

I am from Pakistan. Studied and lived in USA for over 10 years. Don't know where my time has gone so fast. Life is very busy in usa (I lived in Chicago, Denver, Orange County, CA and LA. People have to work two jobs to ends meet. Most people have to share housing...that really sucks. Constant expense (rent or mortgage payments are so high people have to constantly work. Whatever time people get they run chores and stay home and chill. You see ultra rich or people on welfare having fun at the beach. I have had a very close friend from pakistan came to usa same time as I did. we both never had enough time to meet up on regular basis. even when we met we had so many things in back of our minds running. I had couple of girlfriends (of course at different times) but they had other boyfriends at the same time. And number one thing they had on their mind is was get money from you. What you wear and drive is what you are. People consider you obsolete if you wear non branded shoes or older models of branded shoes. I traveled extensively in the US and Canada. But in East Europe like Romania and Poland I found people very friendly. Now I am back in pakistan facing basic problems like traffic jams, noisy honking streets and so on but for some reason i feel worriless and relax. whenever i go out, people start to talk to you and you feel like home. everyone is super friendly and is available for help. however you cant really trust people with money though. hahahha. After living in USA for so long I do really miss many things about it though. the efficient system is definitely a big plus. and i have realized that some times i like being all alone for extensive period of times. but knowing that i can meet up anyone any time gives me peace of mind. i have realized hard way that man made martials can amuse you to some extent only. you need live beings are you.

I am from India living in USA for 13 years now and I disagree with your analysis. We tend to compare and jump to conclusions quickly coming from a warm climate. This video is taken in winter, look at trees they have no leaves. People are inside b'cos its cold. Take a video in summer and you will find kids playing, swimming in pools and more lively atmosphere people walking around. In cold weather kids and people play sports in indoor arenas. The civil society is disciplined and they are following rules and laws to play at demarcated areas like parks and playgrounds. You won't find people playing on streets. My daughter plays gymnastics and you will appreciate that its a community effort to organize it. Without community sports like gymnastics is impossible to exist. Imagine 500 lbs cushions to move and organize so players can play. All parents gather and make it happen. And such teams of parents are there in every little town. This is just 1 sport. American life revolves around sports more than another country. So its a different country and if u compare USA\\Canada to India or Africa the difference is like Heaven and Hell. I will be lying if I said I was not depressed, but the reasons for my depression were not related to location or space I am in. I was feeling lonely and depressed even in India living among 1.3 billion people. So its not a matter of place but the inner space.

I was born in Manitoba and lived here for 28 years. While the negative aspects pointed out in the video are true, hardly any of the positives of living here were touched on. Yes, we do have a month or two where you can hardly spend time outside but during the winter there are beautiful sunny days often and plenty of +25-+30 days all summer long. Manitoba has an incredible amount of festivals during the summer all across Winnipeg and small towns. We have a thriving underground EDM scene where young people explore various forms of art, dance, costrumes, and musical genres every weekend nowadays. There are many interesting cultures present here including Mennonite and Hutterite communities which are some of the most generous small town folk. We have tons of local farms which people can buy affordable organic food from. Manitobans on average are friendly people and strangers will often strike up a conversation or help get your car unstuck on a wintery day. I have travelled around Canada but I do feel like Manitoba carries a unique sense of community that other places might not have.

no matter how bad off canadians like to think canada is, people from every other country are knocking down the door to get here and im not talking just war torn countries like ukraine. so what does that tell you.

I will take snow, cold and all the rest before desert heat. You can get severe depression from constant heat, sunshine. Anxiety and depression are a result from super high temps( Dog days of summer,) Try 9-10 MONTHS a year over 95. I have tempt 134-137 19 times on my property in 12 years. I have 87 trees planted and a misting system. Very hard for pets, and even farm animals. Known fact severe heat much more dangerous for people than cold. When it rains here, you get lightning strikes( massive fires), massive winds. Very few days you can use an umbrella and walk in the rain. I can go on. The desert is massively depressing, very ugly and very few scenic places. Plus tweakers. Lots and lots of tweakers. I love Canada. I have spent 22 years here( desert) Lousy on health,mental and physical. Beautiful place. Beautiful people. Love you Canada

Why are you telling people misinformation? You can challenge pretty much anything here in Canada, including med and lawyer tests! These msinformed Frenchies, don't know what they are talking about! I want to say thank you to both of you for sharing this info. I have discouraged many people from their thoughts of moving to Canada for many years. I love this video and will share with more people. People are always so surprised when I suggest they do not move to Canada, its a good video to help them understand .

A South Asian here.\nI`ve lived in UK, lived in Canada.. and now living in the US for 8 years now\nI am a middle-income earner with an immigrant background. So I think I am qualified to give my input from an outsiders perspective\n\nUSA is made for people in their 20s, when they have high energy and the naiveness of young optimistic soul. Options are unlimited.\nBut then when you get to your 30s, you`ll want some measure of security and peace. Thats where Canada is the best option.\nBut as you reach late 40s,early 50s you will want to look at a place to retire to... thats where UK wins, it is the perfect place to retire\n\nSo in Summary, US is best for 20s. CA is best for 30s/40s. UK is best for 50s,60s.\nA colleague of mine tells me Australia is the perfect mix of all three. But I cant tell as I have not lived or been there.

It is unfortunate that Canada thinks that their schools are so good that they cannot except people with schooling from another country. Canadian kids overpay for what they get. Public school is also a joke. Imo they do not except other counties diplomas because they are probably trying to protect their professors and their schooling system. If you tell them that their schools are the best then they will believe you over time. It is a shame.

If you can't do I the right way America doesn't want or need you there is a process to have the privilege to live here my wife is from China and we had to jump through hoops to get her leagle to stay here and she was pregnant with my child and we didn't know if she was gonna have to go back to China it has cost alot of money that ii earned from a JOB and its not fair for people to just live here without going through the leagle process in place and Canada is the same concept we all have our own problems in the country don't need anymore just stay in your own country if you cant do it right we really don't WANT YOU HERE

Canada is very immigrant friendly in terms of accepting immigrant to come yes but why ? well because immigration is a big business for this country who has not much technology export and in the same time is second biggest country in the world with population less then California alone . Can you immigrate to US or Denmark or any other European country as easy as you can to Canada ? the answer is no with very big N unless you have some thing they don't or need and that thing is not money lol

Sorry gals your intentions are just good as your heart but in the minute 7th I got tired to heard about all the barriers Canada has!! I'm from Argentina and even LA is boring for us. I just wanted hear what you have to say. I don't change my country for anything. Even they offered me a job in the US some years ago and I declined the offer. There are a lot of boring people in the whole north america.

Canadian's are losing everything. Immigration needs to end. This country can't afford to provide for more immigrants. As lifelong Canadian. I can't pay more taxes to provide for people that are going to draw down our standard of living. Working for less than the going rate. And eventually take part of my Canada pension. Fix the country you live in. Immigrants are moving here and instead of assimilating to this country. They move here and try to change this country. Making us say happy holidays. No it's merry Christmas. Remove Cross's from Catholic hospitals. Ect... And the worst not standing during the national anthem. Don't stand then you don't really want to be here. Canada is a land with great resources, great opportunity and potential, but for a place with so much supposedly smart people they do alot of dumb things. Been here 7 years now and I have seen so many issues that have obvious solutions but because of some weird culture or heritage or whatever they just keep doing the same thing until it hurts them. The real estate market is an absolute MESS and everybody knows. Money laundering, realtors colluding to set prices, blind auctions etc you name it. But they are just gonna keep doing the same thing until the country is in a major recession. Then everybody is going to be crying for bailouts. The health system is a MESS. Trying to find a doctor is like finding a needle in a haystack. They have them driving taxis instead, claiming that their qualifications arent as good. Yet they dont have enough doctors or nurses to support anything. Coworkers whose spouses work in those industries let me know they have to be working ridiculous shifts because there are not enough people. The taxes are ridiculous. I work in I.T. and taxes are like roughly half my salary. Many coworkers have told me all the illegal stuff they do to get around the taxes. Which I don't do because I wasn't raised like that. But people get taxed so much everyone is doing some thing to try to bypass it. And if you dont know the tricks or dont want to do them, you just get screwed. People don't talk about real issues here. There is alot of fake positivity and optimism because they dont want people to get sad and suicidal from the really long and harsh winter. I used to wonder why there were so many train delays until some one explained to me that many people commit suicides in winter by stepping in front of the trains. The only thing propping up this country is the constant influx of immigrant slave labour through the college system, (Like a ponzi scheme). But the immigrants are going to stop coming here if they cant even afford to live at all. Even the regular citizens cant afford it. So what will the country do after that, since there is an elderly population and not enough people to support the industries? Right now most of the immigrants come here and save up there money to go somewhere else or back home after they realize what a shitshow it is. I even have coworkers born and raised in Canada who are telling me they want to leave. Canada needs to stop patting itself on the back for doing stupid apologies and stuff like that, and actually do economically sound things to stop digging themselves into this hole. Great potential for this country but I don't know if it will ever be realized.

To me, the problem is threefold. a) Toronto and Ontario in general - and perhaps the whole of Canada - are accepting way more immigrants than they have quality jobs for. If you need taxi drivers and plumbers, maybe this experience should be valued way higher than education as part of the existing immigration programs (which is not the case). At least then potential immigrants know this before they come and get stuck in low-paying or relatively OK-paying but repetitive and demoralizing jobs with debts and mortgages that become a trap preventing them from leaving. It's also partially on immigrants themselves who come to Toronto to only find out there's 100 people competing for one spot and that you need to be exceptional - or connected through your ethnic network - to work regular white-collar jobs. b) The official bipartisan policy of non-integration. The naive expectation that having people live in ethnic enclaves will somehow make the overall culture richer is not what happens: instead, people tend to stick to their own communities and the common culture thus gets eroded and limited to economic and financial matters. This makes some cities feel like one large business with everyone networking 24/7 instead of socializing normally. And arguably, having the right culture / social life is what motivates already successful people move in the first place. So when they come and they find out there's nothing but money talk and hustling, they leave (if they're smart). Quebec is doing better in that regard, but then Quebec is not really Canada and it's been pressured to cave in to the same money-centred, uncultured and disconnected society by the feds for decades now. The States is smarter in that it actually makes sure to integrate its immigrants (and let's be honest, many immigrants like being part of a new culture if it fits them) c) Treating real estate as an investment and not as a basic necessity (as Japan or some Nordic countries do, for example). That coupled with a lot of Asian money being laundered in Canada through immigration channels and private equity firms buying whole apartment blocks for rental purposes has led to the highest housing price increase in all of the developed world in the past 20 years or so. The median price of a condo in Toronto is higher than in New York despite the massive gap in salaries and the fact that New York is one of the most expensive cities in the world to begin with. Some draconian measures are needed here to prevent foreign - or even out-of-province ownership -, second property ownership and corporate ownership for renting purposes.

If you have to pay for your dentist, some surgeries and health expenses just take a plane and flight to Mexico, Colombia where dentists and doctors are even better than here in Canada and you have to pay only 10% of what you are paying in Canada and you’ll have holidays for free in a warmer country. Life is getting unpredictable in Europe, China or USA so from my point of view Canada is a safer place to live in the next 10 or 20 years even your way of life or income won’t be so high. Energy, food, transport, health, virus problems will be traumatic in many European countries, China or USA and also some Latin American countries where people will be impoverished because of left wing parties in power like it’s happening in all Latin America.

I am also an immigrant but can tell you that Medical school in Canada is extremely competitive. Foreigners don’t have a clue the extremely amount of work (top marks, volunteering, MCAT, Casper, interviews, etc) it takes to at least be called for an interview. In some countries you leave high school and can go straight to a private medical school and pay for your medical license. So, I hope Canada keep appreciating people from here.

Both my parents immigrated from Europe so I can relate to many of the comments.\nSo, what I see is that Canada is a country of mostly heavy industry which often requires people to live in rural, remote, isolated communities. Canada is a big country so transportation is a significant part of it's economic foundation. Most people do not come here wanting to live up north or drive a commercial truck. They want to live in a big city and have a professional job.\nClearly the government has done a poor job of conveying what is needed (Trudeau is pretty clueless to be honest).\nIf you want to be in demand go rural and go north.

As an older Canadian who was educated in Canada with a B.Ed. - then worked away from Canada for thirty of my forty years. There is no way to say that any country is the best one to live in; every country has strengths and weaknesses- that especially relate to your specific needs and wants. Coming back to the country of my citizenship was also extremely hard for me after working away for so many years. The way to do well anywhere in Canada, is to build up credibility/seniority at one job and stick with it. Whether you are university or self-educated- which is considered just as valuable in today's job market- you are going to face an uphill battle unless you are fairly established. Canada has a high level of unemployment and some sectors, have an overabundance of trained workers. When my Middle East friends tell me they would like to live and work in Canada, I give them the advice I would give anyone. First, think about your family or friends that you want to have around you in your daily life- that is number one. Nothing is more depressing than being alone. Weather is a big factor, but it can be tolerated if you are with your core family or friends. One hundred years ago when my ancestors fled war and revolution, they had no choice but to do their best to make a life in a very difficult climate (literally)- culturally and weather-wise. There are a number of refugees today that are in similar circumstances. They do their best to get past the difficulties for the sake of their children's futures. If you are not literally refugees, think hard about you choice to leave your core culture and people.

If Canada must survive then you have to pump a hell of money to Canada so you and Canada survive. Bring all your money and come to canada so you can turn on your oven in winter. I have had things stolen from me in rental apartment and room in a house by landlord. Many people will steal your things in here so you must have security systems all times.

My problem is that I am over qualified when it comes to finding a job - I have both American and Canadian experience. Canada is getting out of control and life here is becomming a punishment for new commers so they turn against one another and people are no longer friendly, unless they need favor from you - then they trash you.

I am Canadian, having grown up in Canada. I left for the States in 1998, after securing a green card and have no desire to return. Canada offered me nothing except unemployment, debt, and cold weather. Good riddance. It is very difficult to find work and housing in Canada. Education is a joke, because your degree does not guarantee you a career or the job you desire. The Canadian government has a historical record of offering citizenship to immigrants with false promises. Shame on this corrupt, self-serving, money-hungry Government. When I was growing up, one in 1000 people were non-white. Then the floodgates opened to nontraditional countries and multiculturalism was born. The Canadian culture I knew and grew up with was gone. Everyone is suddenly from somewhere else. Canada really has no culture. I don't even visit my family. They come to me! Good riddance Canada. Immigrants beware! You may be better off where you came from.

I would be honest with you most of people who leave Canada can have a good life in their home countries (mainly people who say this are from Europe or advanced country in Asia ), well if in your home country you can't make a life at all then what's the point of going back and what I'm taling about here is mainly African countries where everything is expensive and scarce, us living in third country we can even make enough money for a cost of flight alone in a one year of work, wages here can come to be 50$ USD a month that's if your lucky (and not even to say that you will spend most of them on food and health care)

Since the year 2000, the cost of owning a detached home has risen 10 folds. You could buy a corner lot house in a nice area and good location for an average of $160,000. Now that home would cost 10 times that cost in the last 20 years. Why? Foreign investors and immigration based on supply and demand as this also includes the increase in rent cost. People spend on average about $1000 to 1500 for a room to rent not their own suite in Vancouver. Twenty years ago, you could rent a whole house with a yard for that price on the waistcoats of BC. \n\nAnother issue, there are Canadians who do travel to USA due to people being in desperate need of care. USA has a wider spectrum of medical options in comparison to Canada. Canadians travel to USA because the waiting list is often way too long. Canada is nota complete free medical system as people hear and rehabilitation expenses are not free unless it is inside a hospital. It was from at one time as Medicare was founded on the grounds in the 1960's by Tommy Douglas, former premier of Saskatchewan, who initiated Medicare but it was no sustainable. \n\nJust because a person gets referred to a doctor, particularly a specialist when there are very few doctors in that area of care, it does not guarantee you will receive the treatment. I waited 2.5 years for a treatment in a hospital, only to be told that I was not a candidate for that treatment even though they did not screen me as a precursor before making a rational decision. DEVESTATING! Canadians if they have money often go to USA or Mexico when in desperate need. \n\nThere is a lack of doctors as many people do not have a family medical doctor who know their case personally. Complex diseases do not receive proper care as Canada does not have an integrated medical system of care amongst other doctors for patients. It has been on the news media where people have died being on the waiting list, returning back to hospitals where the hospital emergency because the concern of the disease was undermined with the overcrowded medical system.\n\nThere is a increased gentrification in the metropolitan cities that is an issue as the richer are now richer and the poorer are more poor. As there is an INCREASED immigration there is a huge stress in cost of living as there is not enough affordable housing and increased homelessness in Vancouver and Toronto. Expo 86 and the 2010 Winter Olympics skyrocketed tourism and immigration that many people who are born and raised here before 1986 are very angry and resentful of how drastic the decline of how the quality of life has become.
