There are mayors and local governments in the U.S. and Canada who proudly proclaim themselves socialist, Marxist, left wing activists, and yet they do nothing to encourage the construction of more rental apartments. Nobody wants to construct rental apartments in both nations because condominiums are more profitable. Am I saying the mayors and local governments should get into the landlord business? You're darn right I'm saying it, especially if they claim to be Marxist socialists and only for the common people. So show the concern for the common people besides the activism for the race gender wokism politics and illegal immigrants.

And yes, my child just started working 3 years ago and now owns his own condo which he bought with his own money. All this was achieved coming to Canada with just rent money. I had heart surgery and my wife is a cancer survivor. We had excellent health service where in the most expensive thing I spent for was for parking in the hospital!

I was born in the US but grew up in Canada, moved to the US married and had a nice life, then moved back. I am now hoping to move back south again, this nation is way overpriced, overtaxed and with a government that treats its citizens as cattle.

I am very happy that people who dont like Canada are deciding to go back to India, its good for us immigrants who are able to live in peace because we are ready to go through struggle and we like the country. Couple of years ago, people were randomly and blindly coming to Canada without knowing ANYTHING about the country and unfortunately everything was crowded.

The only thing I agreed with you is the price of housing in large cities. Canada is still a great country if one is willing to work. I quite agree with some of your points, although your understanding of Canada may be a bit naive. I am also a photographer and am studying for a master's degree in design. However, Australia plans to ruthlessly kick out graduates who are over 35 years old. This is why I have to consider finding a job in Canada after graduation. I also think Canada’s natural landscape is far better than Australia’s. The very decent deciduous trees are every visual worker’s dream.

If you are young and ready to work hard for 4-5 years, Canada is good place to live. If you have a good job in India or family business then I would recommend you to stay in India. I am living in Canada for over 42 years. I was 22 when I moved. I was lucky one but I still miss India.

I was born in Canada. I am now in Thailand. I worked 35 years for a large transportation organization. I am retired and loving living abroad. It is cold in Canada 6 months of the year. Climate change is creating massive forest wildfires every summer now creating horrid air quality issues especially in the west, which is the mist beautiful part of the country in my opinion. I traveled back for a couple of weeks in October 2023 and was in shock over the cost of everything especially considering the recent inflation problem affecting the entire world. I couldn't wait to het back to my life in Thailand. Here there is no racism that I can see. All races and religions are accepted here. I hardly ever wear pants, shorts and short sleeve shirts. I can golf 12 months a year and live very comfortably on my pension. I could not have the same quality of life in my home country and the medical industry makes care here very affordable and accessible. In B.C. I found it extremely difficult to find s family doctor after moving there even to get a comprehensive medical checkup. I love my country of origin but will never return as long as I have the choice. Canada is over taxed, over regulated and very expensive now. These are the facts that created my choice to emigrate.

I want to share my experience , me my husband and my 14 month old daughter landed in Canada Calgary on 28 June 2023, we stay for 2 weeks with our friends and start searching for apartment. Once we moved to our apartment we started looking for jobs, in the month of aug we both got a job I am working as deployment engineer and my husband is working as product owner, and a daycare for my daughter. We worked hard in searching jobs all day all night, and with the grace of god we got it. The life is tough every where, it is just the way you think of it. We left our well settle jobs in India before moving here, but yes with full determination. I want to encourage people here not to loose hope prepare a plan for your self and stick to it, you will eventually get it. All the best to all the new comers and those are planning ?❤

As a born and raised Canadian I made the decision to flee my homeland of 42 years the moment that the current regime came to power in 2015. I ended a highly successful, well-paid 20+ year career, sold everything I owned and was gone within six months. I am not a religious person, so that did not factor into my decision, though I knew what was coming since I had lived for years as a member of a minority that was constantly demonized by former Liberal rulers for decades.\n\nI completely understand your reasons for leaving and wish you all the best. Canada was a great place to grow up in and I wouldn't trade that experience for the world, but to say that it is now going through a process of state-funded and engineered societal decay would be an extreme understatement. Women in Europe and Western countries, in places like Canada, or where I am from, in England, have to do all the house chores as we don't have maids. People from back home are not use to working so hard, and doing house house chores as they have maids in the house.

I had major problems finding a job, even as a waiter, when I moved from Germany in 1990. I was so depressed. When I saw the poverty on the east-side of Vancouver I was shocked. Now 30 yrs later I see videos of the east-side and I cannot believe how worse it got. I am glad to live in Germany and Japan!!!!! Thank god!!! I have the money now to rent a motorhome in Canada and travel around for 4 weeks there, because I have money and time to do that. No way to do that as a regular canadian.

Move out of Toronto and you'll love Canada! I immigrated last year and like everyone else I went straight to Toronto to find a job. I did find a well paying job but even after that, the city was not affordable. I liked the part that it's easy to find new people and settle in the city because everyone's very open minded and welcoming but the rent al market is absurd! Public transport need a major upgrade! The only thing apart from social life that I liked was toronto's biking culture and community. But taking ttc, specially the subway is scary! Road rage is becoming a norm, no respect for pedestrians or cyclists. The city is broken.\n\nI am now living in London, Ontario, and I feel a lot safer. Fortunately, the renting is still not as bad here but you need to own a car (well, that's just North America) and then you can life a comfortable life.

I am not Muslim and I don't live in Canada so I can't completely understand your experience. I'm from a Hindu family and I relate to some of the things you guys have expressed, especially how you guys are worried about your children being raised in a certain environment and the sense of community. Especially, about the kids. America and Canada are scary at this moment. I heard that America is looking at allowing schools to help children to hide their decision regarding their gender etc., from their parents, and there is so much more being taught in schools that go against certain cultures and belief system but also it is now separating kids from their parents, creating walls. I also agree with you both that I don't hate or saying that others can't live the way they choose to live but when it is being imposed on your children then it's hard to live in that place. This is my 13th year in Canada, I am so sad to see the change, I really hope it will become a better country again with Trudeau stepping down. But we also have to be fair that there are not many countries become better since COVID. Many of you leaving or planning to leave Canada are more like rich country retirees taking advantage of the wage and currency differences between rich and poor countries. So let’s put it this way, if many of you have not worked your whole life here in Canada, will you still have a quality of life in your home countries, such as Southeast Asia or South America? I doubt majority of the population there is make a good money and having great work life balance, and everyone there could afford a decent retirement life. what is more close to nowadays reality is people coming here and hoping they could have a better paid job and settle down here, but most of them found out they are struggling to even maintain their normal life in this country, so they left. For those who came years ago, they made a saving which may not be enough to support a good retirement life here, but is more than enough in other countries, they also choose to flee. Then those successful immigrants will stay here with the option to travel anywhere they want. My son's classmate's grandfather immigrated to Canada long time ago who later become a well known cardiologist and was rewarded as one of the top 25 immigrants Award, all three daughters are now specialists too. I really hope Canada could rise again!

I am 63 born and raised in Canada all my life and can honestly say that I have never been as embarrassed to be a Canadian since the pandemic where we let millions of immigrants come here take our jobs (with government subsidies) abuse of our free medicare system and have all their family members abuse it. People have to stop using rental prices in cities like Toronto and Vancouver. That's like Americans using rental costs in Bel-Air California or Manhattan as an example of what rent costs in America. It's not a realistic portrayal of rental costs. \nHere in Quebec the the annual tax rate is between 26.53% and 53.31%, depending on income. Then you have to consider all the socialist programs that you are forced to pay into, which also sucks up a significant amount on your weekly salary. After that, you must consider that you pay 15% sales tax on almost everything. It's safe to say that half of your yearly earnings, give or take, are taken in taxes and socialized programs. As for salaries, less than 20% of the Canadian population make a 6 figure salary. We're not talking about household income. I am talking about individual income. You're not going to become rich here in Canada! The majority of people who do become rich leave Canada to avoid taxation. Canadians live a life of debt. You will live just balancing your debt to make sure it doesn't get out of control Few Canadians have money in savings without debt. The ones who do have money saved, most of them have debts on top of their savings which is counterproductive in my opinion.

As a Canadian, born and raised, I am much more proud to be a Canadian than if I were to be a U.S. or U.K. citizen, given the way they are regarded in most of the word. I have travelled Europe extensively, Central America, as well as parts of SE Asia. \n\nCanada is indeed expensive and has become moreso because we too easily accept the rising prices, just so we can feel good being a Canadian. Tipping culture is ridiculous, even for bad service, many feel the need to tip 15% because of fear of being regarded as a cheapskate or avoiding offending the service provider. Companies should be paying their staff a better wage where 20%+ tips are not expected for every restaurant, cafe or delivery service. We're helping corporations make more profit by subsidizing their staffing expense. This isn't the case in most of the world. \n\nMy eyes were opened when I saw how you can live an equally good life at a third or less of the cost and I have grown open to the idea of living elsewhere once I have enough money to retire early (I'm talking around 55) and enjoy life without feeling cash-strapped. World class private medical care can be found for prices that are unbelievable and without the multiple appointments and wait times.\n\nI will always be a Canadian first, but there is room for a second citizenship or a backup plan should living in Canada become an impossible place to live or retire, unless you begin with a financial advantage. By no means am I poor, either. I got lucky with both real estate and stocks. Yet, I feel like I am working to just get by, while being taxed well beyond what I am getting in return.

For me to resolve this problem Justine T. should step down as prime minister. Am from Calgary, when Harper was the Prime minister lots of jobs are available I even remember some establishments are begging for workers to apply to their establishment. But when Justine T. stepped in as prime minister the economy of Canada went down the drain so fast that a lot of citizens became jobless and homeless.

I am non Muslim also living in the Okanagan Valley and I agree with you on all these points. Being third generation Canadian I am also considering leaving Canada. I remember as a young boy the Okanagan has been very discriminating to others who just did not fit in to their normal.

However, the quality is rather inferior to HKG or even in Maindland China. The Dentistry is not free, by the way. and other specialist, such as Protates (Yes, for aged man like me ), the quality (cure results) are really 2 levels down. It's obvious that you have never lived outside of Canada. Canada is probably one of the last countries in the world that accepts people for who they are and has a decent level of respect for belief systems. I get that you want to raise your children in a better environment, but trust me when I tell you this... you are walking into a world of disappointment. Canada itself is about 15 years behind other countries when it comes to this downwards spiral you are speaking of. Sadly, you will find out soon enough that this utopia you want to find, simply doesn't exist and you will discover you have left the variable comforts and safety of Canada behind. I visit Canada regularly since the late 90th. I saw a steady decline in the last years. Get rid of Trudeau and his bad politics. The sad thing is that this happens to many western countries. Currently I live in Germany. The loss of wealth and confidence due to damage done to the economy by the current government is mind blowing. People are angry. Visiting the Netherlands, Britain, France - everywhere I go in the west it’s the same. People are fed up of leftwing ideology, identity politics and high taxes.\nThe west needs to wake up. \nPeople are leaving for other places.\n\nIf one is good in his job, one can live a good life in many places. I just moved back to the United States after living in Canada for 7 years. I’m a dual citizen, born in Vancouver raised in the states. I am in agreement with all of this. The economy is terrible and the cost of living is unbelievable. My business suffered and realized I would never prosper in Canada. I’m lucky to have options.

I am an American Christian, and you seem like such a lovely couple. I lived in England with two babies 1980nand I felt culture shock, so I feel compassion for how you feel living in Canada. I also attended University 4 years, NY near the Canadian border (30 deg below zero Fahrenheit in winters) so I understand how the extreme cold is hard to live through.Most of all, the Western world culture is beginning to push beliefs which even Christians can't tolerate.
