I don't know if you know this Tyler but America just hit its final hour, 250 years is the expiration date for empires and your United States just hit that mark. Plus have you seen the way Canadians have socialized systems that give us a high quality of life. Our current government is still capitalist but I currently can't be kicked out by federal mandate if I keep paying rent, the liberals have put this provision in place because the housing market is out of control. The liberals under Trudeau also helped the first nation's people more than ANY priminister to date and he dealt with the mass graves the best a light skinned priminister could. He's facing the same issues Biden is facing, the Koch brothers and Peter Thiel are pumping out propogada like transphobia, climate change, trickle down economics and poisoning the left by buying up publications with there infinite dark money.\n\n56 billion was spent last year on influence alone, That means 100,000 Americans saving ALL their money for 10 years would just match Koch influence powers they have in 1 year. \n\nYour housing market was destroyed by the Koch Brothers, they destroyed our water supplies up north fracking bitumen out of the land. \n\nThen when Koch wanted to leave the oil sands they made a propoganda piece pointing the blame at Trudeau.\n\nSo ya, no one wants to go to he country Koch brothers already control 100% were being fought over by Peter thiel who isn't any better.

There is a selection bias on the forum the question was asked.\nA large proportion of recent immigrants to Canada would prefer the USA if it were an option.\nIf you are in a specialized field or at the top of your field, the USA makes more sense.\nLikewise if you are wealthy the USA is better for you.\n\nI live on a Disability pension and would be dead or homeless in the USA.

I'd just say as a Canadian we have all of the best the US has to offer with very little of the negatives it has. So why would we go to somewhere where it only becomes worse.\n\nMost people in the USA are not ok when it comes to healthcare. The minor stuff sure, but if you have anything serious happen most likely your healthcare will only cover half or a quarter of the costs. The USA also has some of the worst healthcare care out of almost all western countries.\n\nTo put into perspective of kids and gun violence. From 2019-2023 on average 9 kids get shot dead in the USA per day, so 3 285 per year. If we look at 2019 specifically we have 73million people under the age of 18 exist. If we use the average of 9 shot a day and put that to 18 years of life we come up to 59,130 shot over the 18 years; however out of 73 million it means you only have a 0.081% chance of dying from being shot. Doesn't sound too high, but it means you're more likely to get shot dead than almost all other forms of death, more likely to be shot as a child than someone to win the lottery.

Never lived in the US but have visited a lot. I do have family in Washington state and I really enjoy visiting that part of the country. I didn't like New York and California only because of the sheer amount of people. Way too many people for my liking. Walking down the streets I felt like I was being shoulder checked with every step. In some smaller areas, absolutely loved the people and communities. Very friendly, and I find Americans to be very patriotic which I absolutely love! Health care and gun violence would be enough to keep me away though. Now in 2023, I find America becoming political polarized. Just watching the news is enough to raise my blood pressure (which I don't even have). If I got a chance to leave the snow behind, I think I would choose overseas on a island somewhere. Also at the age where I want peace and quiet. Raised kids already so more on the downlow and quite beach life. Thanks for your videos Tyler you are definitely one of my favorite Americans. I have a work visa for the US and go there often. I go to many places that are not in the cities. I'm actually in South Dakota as I write this and find it to be a very pleasant place. I generally find everybody to be very friendly but can't help feel there are some topics that I just don't feel comfortable talking about in fear of triggering a strong response. I like visiting but would not consider moving there to raise a family. There is just a much greater chance of volitivity there. \n One time, while dinning out, I had a guy ask me, that because I didn't have a gun, what would I do if someone came to my home to rob me at gun point. I told him it never happens. But he insisted many times, but what if they did. I told him that it's not something I'd ever thought about and that I probably had a greater chance of dying on the plane ride home than being shot by an armed robber in my own home. But he kept insisting. I eventually told him I would help the robber take my stuff out of the house because that is what I have insurance for. I could not believe that this guy did not understand the concept of NO ONE (other then criminals shooting other criminals in the city) having a gun. \n I actually do have a long gun at my place in the country but that's to keep me safe from large animals that may come out of the bush. It is locked up in a gun cabinet by law. I would never think of using it against another person. I'd go to jail for sure if I did. Many of my friends hunt and have several guns but the restrictions on where and when you can use them and the strict storage requirements help ensure that they are not travelling around with a gun at hand. There are actually a few places in Canada where I've been that you do, or should, have to travel with a gun but these are remote areas of the country with large predatory animals. 99% of the population do not live in these areas.

First of all, the United States is a country of misfortune for me, I'm sorry if it sounds abrupt, but how I see it!\n\nHonestly I think that for the reputation of the country and their people, it will never change if the question of weapons is not settled! (Yes again the weapons) Because that's what comes back the most how many people there are in the cemeteries who didn't ask for anything and who died by a bullet lost by the mass killings in the schools or by psychologically crazy speaking who should have ever had a gun in their hands! Health care is a huge one. Most western nations have remarkable healthcare systems in place. The U.S. healthcare will bankrupt any individual or family in a crisis situation. The second is the amount of violence in America. The U.S. is THE most violent first world nation on the planet. There are more mass shootings pet month than some nations have seen in their entire history. Having armed guards at schools or teaching children how to duck and weave when escaping a school shooter is not normal under any circumstances. There is a compliance in the U.S. with regards to day-to-day violence and even the NRA takes no responsibility. If you were a typical American your country would be one of the best places in the free world instead of one of the worst.

Glad you mentioned racism: Canada is a ewhite nation because it destroyed the original indigenous population and i am amongst those that believes its far too late to change now. We nearly succeeded. Starting to protect other colours now and accept immigrants of other colors is a mistake. It wont wash away the blood on our hands, all it will do is make us uncomfortable and make fights break out and eventually all out war and genocide all over again just like what happened everywhere else they tried this. My opinion as a Canadian with no first hand life experience in the states but personally know plenty of people who do and follow many Americans on social media.\n\nI like to look at both sides of the story when I don’t personally know any better. First thing is when it comes to health care, Canadians use only the cost as an argument but never the quality. The only time I will ever use the government funded healthcare is for a broken bone. Any other issues my knowledge and experience makes me stay far and clear away from the hospitals. However I was talking with a retired business man who spends winter in Florida and he said he had a health issue while there, was referred to a certain doctor by a friend, made an appointment within a few days, not a yearlong waitlist, and with one visit had his issues fixed. Paid the bill and was done with it. Not a story of take this for a while then come back, come back to get referred to a specialist, wait a few months for the specialist, get an appointment 6 months later, and after surgery you feel only slightly better because in your mind you should be better. I do believe Canadian healthcare is low quality and sadly designed for the government to make money. American healthcare is private and needs to offer good quality services in order to succeed.\n\n\nNext subject is violence. Everyone I know and follow in the states have never had any major acts of violence towards them. I believe just like Canada, some areas are more prone to violence but since the states have 10x more people, they have 10x more violent spots which makes it seem worse. Rural Canada and rural United States seems to me very similar in the way people treat each other. \n\n\nI wouldn’t be scared to move there if that’s what would be best. Doubt it’ll happen because I enjoy having the amount of unpopulated area to go riding atvs, snowmobiles, and whatever else. Seems like the states have less area that everyone can freely enjoy but I could be wrong

NO, for all the reasons mentioned in the video, and some not..\n\nFrankly some of the laws down there are questionable at best.... the law enforcement 'Civil Forfeiture' laws, where the police can effectively just rob you, seize your assets, and it's up for you to fight to get them back, if you can at all - with unclaimed assets being sold off, the money being sent up the ladder to the state level where it trickles back down as 'funding' for the local police agencies. Yeah, that's theft of property, and laundering, done legally, by the US gov't.\n\nI would never move there, and up to about 10 years ago I was willing to at least visit there... not now though.

Well, as a Canadian, I guess i'll pitch in.\nWould I move to the US? The short answer is no. But I will explain more in detail.\n\nFirst, I do not see any advantages to the US compared to Canada. Americams often tout their country as the beacon of freedom and the land of opportunities, but I don't feel that Canada is so different there. We're actually higher on the world freedom index, and its not like our economy was in shambles and everyone dirt poor... We pay more taxes, fine, but we also get more services in return, and that last part has the advantage to remove a big layer of worry. Like, for healthcare, I don't have to worry if i'm covered by insurance or not, or if the insurance carrier will drop me on some technicality. I'm a citizen. All the basic needs are covered; no questions asked (and the healthcare quality is not half bad. We just prioritize urgent cases over non-urgent; so if you go to the hospital for something non-urgent, you will wait, and more urgent cases will pass before you. Annoying when it happens, but I understand and agree with that in the end)\n\nSecond, I do see a lot of disadvantages. All the points raised in the video are valid, from the private-sector healthcare system, the gun control laws (or lack thereof), the social policies and legislation in some states; they don't agree with me.\n\nI think it comes down to some specific social and cultural ideas that are prevalent or at least present in a substantial manner in the american society. Bear in mind that I am generalizing here, not every american believes these points, but many do. I'm talking about ego, nationalism/patriotism, secularism etc.\nI feel that the US often has a really overinflated vision of itself. Like, the idea that America is the best. At everything. Wich is factually not true, but this idea also poisons the debate on many issues, and tends to limit social introspection that could lead to real advances.\n\nI've also noticed that the american basic school system is strongly patriotic. Everyone in the US is taught a lot about the US themselves in school, but not much about the rest of the world. Not great for open mindedness and introspection when you have little comparison points.\n\nAndlets not delve into the religious aspect. I've seen a poll somewhere where 48% of americans were AGAINST the separation of church and state. For me thats not only insane, its dangerous. It fits the individualistic mentality where people can more easily start thinking that their way is THE way. It creates a very polarized society much more prone to high volatility.\n\nSo, yeah, no, I wouldn't live in the US. I'd much rather stay in Canada where i don't have to worry if I get sick or hurt, if some agressive drunk idiot in a bar is armed, or if some fundamentalists from some religious congregation is gonna be able to try to politically force their point of view.

I am from Brazil, moved to Canada 9 years ago, now I am Canadian citizen. I was once asked by a American colleague why did I not immigrated to the USA, the answer is: it was not even in the list of possible countries. In fact it is on my top list of places not to move to. \n\nYou have a good insurance through your job? That only means you have one more reason to fear losing it or stay on a particularly bad one if you don’t have anything lined up, if you have a chronic health condition, then you are straight out hostage to your employer. Even if you do have good insurance your bills may one day go beyond the maximum and you still risk bankruptcy. \n\nIf you do go bankrupt, in any civilized country you can’t go to jail for debt, in the USA you can, the country with the highest incarcerated population in the world in absolute numbers and relative too. To add salt to the injury it is a country that did not completely make slave work illegal, it is still legal if you are not a free citizen and your prison system exploit that.\n\nSo it is a country that you can become slave because you got sick.\n\nThen there are the guns… the fact you think you are exempt of school shootings says it all, if you live in a small city it would not affect you? Are you really saying mass shootings never occur in small cities?! If I was rich like many Canadians are that moved there. As a regular guy the health care and social benefits out way and problems with winter. Even if I didn,t work for some reason all those things remain. Plus you would start at the back of the line in Canada I continue with my personal support in friends and family. Tyler, thanks for your entertaining and fun videos. My grandfather is a dual citizen but has never renewed his passport or anything and when asked to do so, he outright refuses. He says he hated living there. We live in the Vancouver area of Canada right now. My wife is finishing her registered nursing degree and we are considering moving to washington state, within an hour or so of the Canadian border on temporary work visas (TN1) for a few years. The main reason is the cost of living differences, mostly in housing but a lot of things are cheaper down there too. For example though, the costs of rent or to buy a house in the Vancouver area is insane - 1.5 million is generally a starting point. The cost of a detached house south of the border between Bellingham and Blaine starts around $400,000 ($500,000 CDN). If renting, it's crazy cheaper than here. \n\nThe area we are considering going to is very close to the canadian border, I've never heard of major violence problems in the area. Like one of the other comments you read, we're basically considering moving there to take advantage of a lower cost of living and higher salaries for a bit to try to get ahead. Living in the Vancouver area is such an absolute DRAIN on our finances that it is intolerable. If we didn't move to the US, we'd have to find another place in Canada to go to, but we do like the climate on the coast here. I'd actually just keep commuting to Canada daily to work in Canada since it's so close to the border, and writing the bar exam to be able to practice law in any US state except California, Massachusets, or New York is a pain in the backside to even be able to write it, let alone prepare for it. Just easier for me to keep working here unless we decided to try to make a permanent move somewhere further from the border.\n\nIf we decided to change our minds and apply to stay in the US in the future, there are a lot of the other considerations that other people have raised on top of my own ability to continue as a lawyer. Gun violence in the US is crazy, extreme polarized political views and increasing intolerance against diversity of race, culture, religion, (and while it doesnt affect us directly, it bothers us how LGBTQ people are increasingly targeted with backwards policies and by certain segments of the public), the health care system in canada has it's problems but it's also got it's strong points. We'll never go bankrupt because of a health care issue since we can move back to Canada IF it's ever a problem. Thankfully we are all pretty healthy so it shouldn't be much of a problem for a while at least. And we wouldn't even move there at all if her employment as a nurse doesn't offer health care and better pay than she can obtain here. \n\nOur kids will probably attend post-secondary (college/university) in Canada as dual citizens unless they get a scholarship to a top US school. The costs of post-secondary in Canada appears to be much cheaper than in the US and we have some good colleges/universities that consistently rank high globally.

I suggest google’n “ school shootings, small town America”…. article after article, when you do, says why most mass school shootings tend to happen in small towns….where nobody expects that they would have happened & how all the residents in those towns are always surprised that they happened in their town. \nI say this as somebody who once loved the idea of moving to the USA. \nMy mom was a single parent and as a result I spent a ton of time as a very young kid in the late 80s throughout the mid 90s in a small town in Oregon on my aunt and uncles dairy farm with my cousins and I absolutely loved it. Truthfully, I still love small-town America and I love the vast majority of the people I have met from small-town America. There is the friendliness and community that I find very similar to prairie farming towns in Canada. \n And as a kid, I loved the focus on high school sports in the small USA town I spent time in and how it brought the community together. It was very exciting to go to my cousins football games—stuff like that was super fun as a kid.\nAs an adult, with 2 young kids of my own now? \nYes, I would be terrified to send my children to any school in the United States, especially knowing that the vast majority of my school shootings do happen in small towns, which is a type of place in the states I would personally like to go to, if I did move. \n\nAdditionally, I will be completely bankrupt at this point given my own health issues as well as my two kids health issues and I’m just in my late 30s. \nAnd I’m not talking to super crazy health issues, but health issues nonetheless. I have asthma that has gone through patches where I’ve had to be hospitalized & I was diagnosed with stage 3 malignant melanoma when I was in my late 20s and pregnant with my 2nd. My first child was born with a congenital heart disorder that was missed through the pregnancy and until she was two, and that involved many many trips to the hospital & various specialists until they figured out what was going on (one of the symptoms was her randomly stopping breathing and going blue, which was terrifying, and could’ve been for many different reasons & it took many specialists & many hospital visits to figure it all out)\nMy son was born with a multiple protein intolerance and later received an autism diagnosis. There a decent number of hospital visits and specialists for his first couple of years of life too. \n\n I have no idea if I was in the United States how I would’ve paid for any of our health issues (let alone all three of ours) for that 5 or 6 year period where we all needed various types of regular-ish medical care. \n(because we got good medical care, thankfully, none of us have really had to see doctors any more than the average person in the last few years?)\n\nMy kids are now in elementary school, and, as a Canadian, the issue of school shootings happening anywhere….., including in small towns that seem perfectly safe……as well as the cost of healthcare for stuff that is covered by our taxes here in Canada….. are the two biggest reasons that I will think fondly of my time in small-town America, but would never consider moving there

You appear to be shocked at some of the comments that I'm wondering if you are fully aware of what your country is going thru. Perhaps watch a news cast outside your country like, CBC or BBC.

Oh no, I don’t like it when Americans see stuff like this. One of Canadian’s less admirable qualities is that we can be a little smug when comparing ourselves to the US.\n\nTo cheer Tyler up there are some things I prefer about the states. Where I live in Vancouver we’re quite cliquish and don’t talk to strangers, but when I’m in the states I can make a new best friend in a subway ride.\n\nAmericans are also extremely charitable. If you look at the rates of charitable giving in the US vs Canada there is no comparison.

The base of homelessness in Canada is because they don’t treat them at the time of need if depression is in its very earliest stage it’s treatable but when it gets in middle high and severe level than that’s untreatable why ? Because of the medical system in Canada ✌️ They only give you a painkiller tablets like Tylenol and etc after 1 month appointment running behind there hospitals and clinics than they asks patients to enjoy life and meaning of enjoyment in Canada is go to bars drink alcohols do cannabis strip bars tGirls do cannabis strip bars you are good citizen and you would be cured like this ✌️?

Thanks for telling people the truth. People are never told the truth. The Canadian government website is written in simple English and French and is very straight forward and you can apply to come on your own, but people insist in going through agents who are just making money off of them. Please read the website in detail. The government hides nothing on their website. Don't blame the government and try to understand what some of the immigration lawyers and agents are doing to you. If you are not well versed in the English or French language, get someone to help you with the website and application. Stop paying unnecessary money and go directly to the government. The agents and lawyers will be doing exactly what you can do. Not all of them are genuine. The government tells you not to pay people money, come to them. There are refugees sleeping on the pavements. Why come to the country under those conditions. We don't have enough housing right now for people and rents at the condos are very high. A one bedroom apartment in Toronto is about $2,000 plus.

I guess age matters... If you move to a country so vastly different to yours at 60+ it will definitely be a struggle. Transport, high currency conversion and lack of social life are the main challenges.\nBut i guess the biggest plus is the close proximity to children. So you have to prioritize.

I see this done a lot but there's a big difference between correlation and causation. Your Rbc example shows the top people all white, including women I may add. It's very ingenuous to claim racism based purely on who has risen to the top. Would you call the NBA racist because blacks overwhelmingly are represented or did they get there because they were the best? It's really exhausting having to correct leftist talking points based on nothing.\nThis is the problem today, racism is used so much that it's become little more than name calling because people, usually on the left, call anyone they disagree with racist.\nYou dislike illegal immigration? I would counter that racism or xenophobia is far more common in non western countries.\nI would suggest countries in Asia, Africa and others with less multicultural populations harbor more racist sentiment towards other races. All these reasonings are pretty tame ngl. It's just 1st world problems after 1st world problems. Even the speed limit thing. There's nothing wrong with 50 even if it should be 70. You know, I agree on that, that there are times when the road is so empty I want to go past the speed limit. But the thing is, that's just a luxury. I can stay on 50 and I'll lose at most 2 minutes on a 20 minute drive. Boo hoo.\n\nBut hey, you seem to like your new place a lot, so good for you. That's all that really matters. You don't seem like a bad guy, just uneducated. In the end, Canada just wasn't your preference. You think that people should be allowed to drink beer outside, but you only say that because you don't know what it was like when people drank beer outside. There's a reason that rule was made and it's because people aren't responsible to hold their own in that part of Canada that you lived in. And the part of Europe you're living in can have beer outside because they can hold their own and not get in trouble.\n\nRules don't just get made up, remember that. I’m 47 years old, black (Caribbean descent) and have lived in Canada my whole life. I’ve lived in Montreal, Toronto and Calgary and visited all over the country. Have never experienced any racism of any kind. Toronto and Montreal in particular are incredibly diverse. Not sure how you would see any overt racism in those places. One thing to take note of is that amongst the UK US Canada Australia. The UK is the most visa friendly among all of them. Why is it that most people especially nigerians and other african countries are going to the UK than USA and Canada.. getting a visa to USA and Canada is not easy due to their foreign policy, and visa policy as well. Unless you're from a country their government really like then they give it to you without stress. The UK is more lenient with visa acceptance and of which that can change at anytime if they decide to review their policy.

I grew up in Calgary, two hours south. Yaknow, as a Mexican who's great grandmother came here legally ive always found it odd.. here in America, there isn't allowed to be any places with a specific culture or identity. For example, look at Mexico itself. If you live in Mexico, you are mexican. You'll act mexican regardless. And outside people look at this, and say it's good.. then you get to America, and you have Americans asking foreigners and people attempting to come to THEIR land for better opportunities and all they ask is to follow their customs, cultures, and laws. As an Australian, I agree they are on point. Including the very last bit about trying to bring in food. When I was at Customs one time, I witnessed a little old Asian lady busted for trying to smuggle in some no-no food. The officials were NOT nice with her, because she was being entitled, difficult and uncooperative. Can't recall if they arrested her in the end or simply confiscated the goodies. \n\nAustralia takes this issue VERY seriously. Make sure you check the list of verboten items before coming to Australia, or you may get booted out without ever having left the airport.
