if you earn less money then you don't pay that much tax for health care. I've never paid over 15% of my income for income tax and because I earn so little I don't pay monthly health care premiums they are just free. The reason I earn so little is because I have a 3yo and no options for childcare when his dad is working so I can only work when his dad is not working. As a result I get the maximum canadian childcare benefit (CCB). Although the main reason I haven't left canada yet besides family, is the clean drinking water, relatively clean air (I live in a rural area) and low levels of environmental diseases (malaria, hep B, dengue, zika, cholera, parasites etc). I keep trying to find a country that can offer clean drinking water and clean environment with decent climate and soil for growing food, and decent health care and work opportunities. If anyone has any suggestions for countries like this to research I'd love to hear them.

I went to live in Canada in 1997 and left in 1998. Other than a very mediocre quality of life, I found Canada dark and gray! High cost of living, low wages, high cost of education and all this to live under -14°C! I went to live in France, and Canada is not in the heels! In Paris I lived in a beautiful city, free and high quality health care, got one bachelor and three master degrees without debts, a contract of work protected with strong labor laws, 4 weeks paid holiday a year, travelled all over Europe and had a mild life canadians won't ever have!

Problem with Canada is colleges and universities are not funded like US. For Engineering and STEM, US government and private companies like Intel/Microsoft/Qualcomm and many more spends million on research projects, and although US does rely on international students to fund students its not desperate like Canada. Besides, US has many college towns, no housing crisis like Canada and has robust economy. I studied in US free of cost with monthly stipend, fully funded by one such research grant. \nStudents should also realize sooner or later, especially in tech, that countries like Canada, NZ, Australia and UK are no. match for the United States. But then Indian students know in US they would never get green card. Canada/Australia/NZ were built like colonies, they don't have infrastructure- cities, roads, houses, airports, hospitals or even good colleges for such heavy immigration. They can take only limited immigrants in small busts.

I came to Canada in 1970 from a tropical country. I love this country that I married one. Its\nthe best country in the world and I am proud of it. My advice is before moving to another country go see and learn the culture before you decide to stay Of course in the west you have to work inorder to support you and your family nothing is FREE!

Much of Europe and America & Canada are not desirable anymore. Politicians are allowing 10's of millions of migrants in. We have bad economies, high inflation and a housing shortage and now there's pressure for more housing driving up the cost of living for citizens making them homeless. Canada is a country that is built on middle class where a large part of the population are within the same earning range. There are positives to this, less crime, there is not a huge disparity between rich and poor which makes for a more sane environment don’t get me wrong, we still have our crime rate. Now you can see that the professional programs are limited compared to other countries in the universities and highly competitive so that you don’t have so many professionals with high earning power thereby creating a huge disparity. On the other hand, these high earners don’t get a tax return, get any govt cheque, their kids don’t get huge amounts for OSAP instead, they get billed to pay back the govt and that’s how those of you complaining now where able to get govt cheques when you just relocated, support low income homes and newly landed immigrants. There’s free health, good Ammenities, snow is cleared, the roads are salted and de iced, free Education, govt loans and school loans that’s where your tax money goes to. Everyone has an accent that’s your identity why will you feel somehow or intimidated when you are told you have an accent that’s being timid say yes I have an accent it’s African or Caribbean etc. About racism it’s rare never experienced it that’s not saying it doesn’t happen but am gonna call you out if it’s obvious I have been profiled. Yes the weather is harsh did you not look at your map before relocating ?? In all most of these complaints are individual experiences so I won’t invalidate it but don’t trash what you gained from. Retraining and certification is a must especially when you are coming from a certain country and it’s not a bad idea. Am in healthcare and retraining is a must if you didn’t school here cos it’s entirely different talk about work ethics, equipments, software, differentiation in policies, health laws and malpractice laws.\nLook at the brighter side of life and stop complaining migration has its pros and cons position yourself in a place to have a good life, go back to school, get certified, keep retraining and adding value to your certificate.

I think you leaving Canada is a good move for you and your family. Why? I am born in Canada and i lived in Montreal's suburb(South Shore like we say here) all my life and i love it but i would never live in big major cities because of increases of crimes, high prices of houses/condo, traffic jam, pollution. \nMy girlfriend from Beijing came here last september for 2 months and she really loved it. She enjoyed the freedom, the many different foods from other countries in restaurants, our culture , the people kindness, beautiful nature and easy living.\nYes we have too free medical health care here in Quebec's province(Sun card ) and i have an excellent medical plan with my employer so i can have acess to private clinics free of charges when it's too long in public hospitals.\nI hate snow and cold long winters since the age of 18 when i had to go out for work or school and i dont like our corrupt goverment but we can vote for a less worst one every 4 years. ?

Canada has really gone downhill in the last few years. I got here on 2017 and it was an entirely different country. I was diagnosed with cancer that year and was cancer free by 2018 thanks to Canada's health care system. If that happened in 2023 I don't think I would have made it to 2024.

Most of these students just use the student visa in hopes of getting permanent residency that will eventually lead to citizenship. Anyone wants a G7 passport and Canada is the easiest to get in terms of time you need to spend. \n\nAs for Canada its all numbers. International students equals free money. God works in mysterious ways. :D It's just fucked up that I own 13 homes in Japan and even if I sold ALL of them, I could probably barely afford a DUMP in Vancouver...or maybe just an old condo. One of the main reasons you don't make friends in Canada isn't cultural or personality issues but objectively, Canadians have to try and work any and all shifts, any days, holidays and weekends are disappearing. They need to work full-time + side jobs. So, with distance involved, most people won't be free for friendship at the same time as any others. It's that simple really.

If you need any service in Canada, from medical (it's not free) to travel (one suitcase free, but only one way on a return flight- you have to pay to bring it back!), paying several dollars to make a withdrawal from your own bank(!), highest internet fees x worst reliability in N America, just prepare to bend over and hold that position until your legs give out.
