Our current government is deplorable and I want no part of it. This man is not my president. Is destroying my country. I am a disabled American veteran and I did not spend eight years in the military for this. I want to come and live in Canada. This is not right that is not normal it's not legal moral or ethical. I am so glad you're fighting back.

As a South African, I want to say that this trade war, as well as the hostile approach of Trump towards Canada, is devastating. If one were not experiencing it directly, it would be almost impossible to believe. This is such a remarkable speech that it will go down in history as one of the truly great speeches in times of crisis. It is entirely correct to address the American and Canadian peoples directly, as the Prime Minister has done. They are both clear victims of this madness, Americans misled, and Canadians the target, of this senseless trade war. If one reads History, there is another dimension to this, and I hate to say it. Canadians have to prepare themselves for worse. These types of antics by the aggressor usually involve, finger pointing, contrived border incidents, plausibly deniable incursions and other actions, by the aggressor, which one can find if the preludes to the WW1 and WW2 are studied. I am not sure if you have porcupines in Canada, but you need to rapidly become one.

The reason for this 'trade war' is not about 'trade'. It's about 'creating chaos' so that president Trump is the 'centre' of world attention. With 'great power' comes 'great responsibility'. You only 'give responsibility' to someone who has the wisdom and expertise and understanding in order to both 'hold' and 'govern' wisely and without fear or favor. Maybe its time for others in positions of authority in other institutions to step in and 'take control'. You would never let a child drive a super car on the highway so how much 'damage' has to happen before a world leader is not 'held to account' and his 'hands removed' from the steering wheel before there is a motor accident so large that the freeway is rendered unless and has to be totally shut down your. You cannot have total power in the hands of individuals who apparently do not possess the necessary skills knowledge and experience and wisdom that is required to fulfil the role they were elected to fulfil. A person with the mind and mentality of a child apparently is not a fit person to be running the economy of any nation. Everyone on here is missing the fact that Canada is already charging 25% taiffs. Canada is not the good guy here. This all could end if Canada just drops their 25% tariff then we would be back to good business. Trump is exposing all the corruption around the world!

Well idk my market is going up very nice today. Also we can make every Canadian goods at home so that there is no weight to his words in my eyes. I do say if Canada is doing all these measures though it would be nice to come to an agreement with Canada. To be friends with neighbors is always better than not being friends. American car companies make shitty cars. They make cars that are too big, that don't make sense for European where streets can be very small and gas is very expensive. The US manufacturers don't make a single small car in thos country that can compete with European cars. US agricultural products are laced with poisonous chemicals that are outlawed in the EU because they kill people. Our governmeent doesn't give a shit about that because to grow healthy food means you have to cut profits, almighty dollars, instead of grow things that the rest of the world will accept. I'm sorry, that's not anti-Americanism. Word choices matter, and this was intentional. Think what you will of Trudeau or Canada, the reason people are turning away from networks like CNN is at least in part because you continue to pay people who are incentivized to frame everything as pro-America or anti-America. Some better choices might have included: frustrated, honest, distressed, resolved. Nothing Trudeau said was in any way anti-American.

Canada does not have to defend itself in this case. Its clear that Putin wants to wreak havoc as much as possible and his ' boy' is doing it.

This is not about tariffs. It is about Trump unravelling all of America's relationships with its allies, to make the country weaker, in the service of Putin. Canada is just the first. But Europe will be next. Then America stands alone, too weak to be a world leader.

Like Russia, Canada has key strategic resources and huge oil and gas reserves. The west could not cause the collapse of the Russian economy after it invaded Ukraine because of that key fact. Canada will eventually find other markets for its natural resources. This is a sad fact as integrating our economy with the U.S. has been a great benefit to both countries. You buy our natural resources, we buy your manufactured goods. Too bad, this administration does not see this simply reality. Don't get me wrong, Canada will suffer MORE than the U.S. as our economy is much smaller, but it will survive and once it decouples its economy from that of the U.S., it will be fine. The U.S. on the other hand is breaking treaties with longtime allies and isolating itself on the world stage. It is squandering its place as world leader and world superpower. China is licking its chops.

While I am going to financially suffer from this, I want to see our country start new deals with Europe and Asia. Until tRump is gone and ALL of his minions have left office, I don't want to see any deals with the US. \nWe knew Trump wanted to destroy Canada financially. This was NOT about fentynal.\nWe have enough wood, enough oil, and enough resources to establish good relationships around the world. And sustain fellow Canadians.

What has Canada and European countries done to actually try and end the death and destruction from this war? Europe buys energy from Russia, and Canada is only giving 650 million dollars in weapons over three years, while America has supplied hundreds of billions of dollars in aid and military equipment. As a US citizen, I apologize on behalf of this corrupt administration. I certainly didn't vote for the ??, and I'm not sure how anyone could have... yet, here we are. Half of the US certainly deserves it, and I fully understand the need for extreme measures at this point. What he did to Zelenskyy and what he is doing to our allies...yall do what ya gotta do.
