wow amazing so true this made me sad too ? I came to Canada when I was 9 years old with my father and sister so in some ways I was young so it was easy in a way for me, but as I got older it hit me being Spanish dominican ?? the culture different it's quite obvious, you're absolutely right people stick together in their own Community or culture, and is kind of hard to make friends, I know Spanish people here in Canada Toronto but they seem to stick to themselves and you were to think because I'm also Spanish that would have been easy for me to talk to them, but is not so sadly, without offending anyone Canada is not for anyone, you gotta be strong, Brave, quick, and smart. Credit matter alot here in Canada or you're nobody, having reference matters a lot or you cannot get anything done, the level of education matter alot here in Canada, and many more.. I can go on but there pros and cons like every country, but in all honesty I don't see myself living here forever I'm planning to move.

Because of backlog they get you in for 12. \nFinished up morning appointments by 1. \nThey then take there lunch. Which means they are two hours behind starting the afternoon. \nRough idea of what goes on but you get the idea. \n\nTwo. You hear it every time you call a doctors office. If this is a medical emergency call 911. \n\nIf you need an appointment with specialist because something is wrong. \nFor instance need to see Neurologist because of seizures. \nYou can go to family Doctor and he will set up appointment for 6-8months down the road. \nOr you can go to emerge snd be seen by Neurologist usually within the day. \n\nThey expect you to do that if you are in distress. \nNot in the brochure perhaps but they tell you to do it. \nCall 911 if this is medical emergency. \n\nSo whether your having heart palpitations, seizures, or just don’t know what’s wrong with you. \nThey expect you to go to emerge if you are in a bad way.

I do not see Americans as friends to Canada. we have had a softwood lumber dispute for 30 years now. Canada has different laws which Americans will never accept. when it comes to trade, Americans are not Free Trade or Fair Trade but Trade domination to eliminate competition. Boeing cried about Bombardier and secured a 200% tariff, while the Canadian company has no products to compete against Boeing....\n\nCanada still suffers from tariffs on our steel and Aluminum. \n\nAmericans are only friendly if Canada submits.... the latest NAFTA agreement saw Canada accepting American milk.... dumping into Canada at the expense of our farmers. The USA has an over supply of milk and rather than adjusting production to meet demand America is using Canada as a dumping ground.\n\nAmerican companies have come to Canada and destroyed many Canadian companies, Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, Costco to name a few. these companies push very hard American products while ignoring Canadian suppliers. If Indians went back collectively to India from US and left all leadership positions in American companies, you will have at least a 30% drop in your economic metrics. That will result in lower per capita income. So in a way, we are the reason you have a moderate income, no matter which industry/sector you work in. Where Canada starts lagging behind is really in RnD and access to life saving procedures. Too many people die on waiting lists in Canada as there is not enough resources to go around, y'all have waited 4-8 H(normal is 2-4) just to be seen before don't fib to web now. \n\nAnd since we lack competition for newer/better medical procedure, 80-90% of our medical knowledge comes from the states or ww2 Germany.\n\nWhile on say the USA side, due to the competition they are constantly making advancements (which in the long run makes overall treatment cheaper and closer affordable). While with Canada you have fixed prices, which actually encourages stagnantion in development as anything that streamlines the hospital making it more efficient hurst the hospitals next year of available funding.. while being hurt in the USA can really set the individual back.\nIn Canada you get an overall lower quality of care as the talented doctors end up moving to the states where they can get paid what they are worth not stuck on a fixed income. And after all that rare illnesses in canada as stated don't have any coverage meaning that any one hit with hit rare illness finds out the hard way they can either pay for life saving medication or well pass on.. as most Canadian are taxed to high to have any substantial savings available for such an emergency as they fall into the trap that the government has me covered. \n\nSo each system has its positives and negatives and as far as I'm concerned it's not talked about enough honestly up hear.\n\nIf you have been to the dentist in canada thats basically the usa system, though the prices are fixed in some areas so some services won't be available.. as they don't update the payment schedule often enough so certain procedures pay well, other well can actually cost the dentist out of pocket. \nTherefore in some areas you can't get certain procedures done at all the dentist will refuse.

Canada is better in many aspects but in general wayyy better , in Usa u can make money ,make good business less taxes ok better weather in some places mayb less boring ,BUT in Canada u r treated as a human being ur children get free education, free health care ,child benefits,welfare, many otther benefits, , see usa worship money ,capitalism , guns, violence,and wars they dont give a shit about human s health or life,see Canadians are healthier than most American .in USa see how they treat Black Africans Americans they never wanted to admit that they are full Americans just like white they worked hard but they wanted to keep them under their feet by keeping them in ghettos to keep the white supremacy !! You say that both countries are very patriotic but I must say, as a Canadian, I really don’t see the same level of “patriotism” here in Canada than in the States. It’s definitely not expressed the same way. Maybe being from Quebec is influencing my view on this a bit haha, but no I don’t think I would have used the adjective “patriotic” to describe Canadians in general. The states have a way bigger platform than Canada so their situations regarding racism will be covered more than Canada’s and also Canada hides behind the “it’s such a diverse country” statement to diverge from the issue of racism. Ask yourself this- Which country do you see a wider diverse representation of, concerning the people in power? In Toronto we just had our first black police chief(which was a big thing here) a few years back while in the States they’ve been having people of colour and many minorities in power. Representation of different ethnic backgrounds is an issue here but nevertheless the states still have a long way to go with racism. I love Canada so much but there is absolutely racism that this country will not bother to even acknowledge

What I have noticed all my life living in Canada is Caucasians don't like hearing the truth about anything where they are feel they are being made to look like the villain, but the objective is not to make anyone feel like they're on trial but to start acknowledging that this is going on regardless of if you've ever experienced/seen it or not. The reason Caucasians don't see it is because of what they call White Privilege. Caucasians will never have to deal with the subtleties of racism that minorities face everyday because they will never be treated that way even in other countries they visit or live. Many Caucasians aren't aware that stereotyping is racism as you will notice them say the weirdest things and make really weird assumptions like calling a Korean woman Chinese or mistaking a Hindu or Sikh for someone Islamic, which you should never do. Cultural insensitivity happens here because many Caucasians don't care much to learn about another culture and because of this there's it's creating even more issues. The race problem is Canada is huge and people are trying to say that it isn't but in the coming years more and more evidence is going to come out to the point where it will be irrefutable and there will either be a reform or civil war.

The task is merely to listen—and doubt your sense of comfort, satisfaction and preference for the status quo. Listening, and doubt can lead to change. Collective change can lead to understanding, and even, healing. It is so hard to doubt oneself at this level because “othering” is a very strong force in tribal instincts and dynamics. To be asked to let go of this seemingly real sense of self and group identity can be extremely unsettling, psychologically. I hope that is somehow helpful for people who are reading, in some way. I wish that our education not only reflected history accurately, but also made it mandatory to learn basic principles of psychology.

I live in Victoria, and take this. I worked in a place, where the manager was from Asia, and she treated me like hell forcing me to move to another department, claiming she doesn't need an assistant. NEXT day she hired an Asian girl. She obviously needs an assistant, but because she wanted an Asian with her, she did that. And now you go to that department and you find all employees are from her country. Talk about racism, it's everywhere. And yes when an Asian or a black treat others in a wrong way, it's still called racism. People only shout racism when it comes from the White while we do see racism from others, but we don't hear anyone condemning it

Glad to see organizations like the black fathers and many that were not part of this documentary. I also want more ppl to think about families who have fathers that are emotionally unavailable/ are workaholics or are just puppet dads. This is often overlooked. There are females who stay with deadbeat males out of fear of societal shaming/ fear of being along and decide to stay even though the guy doesn't provide any support... I'm other words, males who create families but are not emotionally there so to say, that in many ways can be super problematic and disastrous for the family dynamic especially for the women and the children.

I understand both sides, my heart goes out to that man but rules are rules but may he find a way. I see a lot of stone hearted comments. It’s not so easy as people make it seem Abe most of you are talking ignorance because you are privileged and so am I for the record. Life is hard for most people but maybe he can make it there or somewhere else. I admire any man or woman trying to feed and provide for his or her family. I am Cypriot and maybe I do not understand certain cultures. But why do people differ because of skin colour. And why we see people as black or white. We are the same in different shades of beige to brown.I do not see white or black in skin.It is not natural. We humans come in different shades. sizes, skills and talents. By the way I am a shade light to medium if anyone is interested.

This is so frustrating. I spent twelve years in the apartment industry and went through literally hundreds of hours of Fair Housing Training. I was given test shoppers on numerous occasions, just like every other property manager I knew and I always passed with flying colors because I stuck to a script and said everything the same way, even with the same tone of voice, every time. It didn't matter who was in front of me, my job was more important than anything else and that meant absolutely no possibility of discrimination. Here in the US, management companies and even the individuals onsite can be held monetarily responsible if testers find them to be discriminatory. It is very disappointing to see property staff making such bluntly poor choices. We all know better in that industry. This is the 21st century, we should be beyond this.

The only problems I can see with blind recruitment is, the person's application might be accepted, but if they have to interview in person they can still be rejected. Of if it is a phone interview and you have an accent you might not make pass it. Even if you get hired with blind recruitment and not interview is required, once you start working, if you are a minority some employers might look for ways to fire you. So it's a good concept, but still needs a little tweaking.
