As an American I am grateful to Canada and I will continue to buy Canadian products. The “leaders” of America are shameful bullies. So far, nearly every attempt that has been made to stop this madness ultimately gets turned over by someone in Trump’s pocket. Thank you for standing up to the bullies. I wish the best for you!

Canadians and Americans don’t get it Trumps a Russian Agent

As a South African, I want to say that this trade war, as well as the hostile approach of Trump towards Canada, is devastating. If one were not experiencing it directly, it would be almost impossible to believe. This is such a remarkable speech that it will go down in history as one of the truly great speeches in times of crisis. It is entirely correct to address the American and Canadian peoples directly, as the Prime Minister has done. They are both clear victims of this madness, Americans misled, and Canadians the target, of this senseless trade war. If one reads History, there is another dimension to this, and I hate to say it. Canadians have to prepare themselves for worse. These types of antics by the aggressor usually involve, finger pointing, contrived border incidents, plausibly deniable incursions and other actions, by the aggressor, which one can find if the preludes to the WW1 and WW2 are studied. I am not sure if you have porcupines in Canada, but you need to rapidly become one.

THANK YOU PM Trudeau! As an American who grew up on the Detroit/Windsor border, I love our Canadian friends. And it hurts my heart to see what’s happening right now between our countries. He has absolutely no reason to impose tariffs and is actually breaking legal agreements to do so, but we all know that Trump believes he is above the law. If you like this speech, go and listen to Premier Ford of Ontario as he threatens to tariff all the energy which flows into the States or even just cut it off. Nobody wins in this war, certainly not Americans. But Elon and Donald don't care. They are filthy rich and will just plan chaos and world domination in their sandbox while everyone else in the USA takes the hit.

Gotta disagree w/ Mr. Trudeau on one point, when he says Trump is 'very smart'--NO. Otherwise, Trudeau's speech was spot-on, and I love and respect Canada even more now. Most of us Americans cannot be proud of our country; we are held captive by a wannabe dictator and his stooges who are self-serving, vindictive, and UNpatriotic! To gather some semblance of sanity, I am taking the family on a Canadian Rockies tour in late spring--am tempted to not return home again.

If your insane president won't back down, electricity will be cut off, and potash and nickel will no longer be exported. Agreements with Homeland security will be canceled, NORAD may be cancelled, and cross border travel will be severely restricted soon. Canadian armed forces will be standing by to halt an American military operation, and our European Allies will join us for what we hope will only be another cold war.

As a 66 year old Canadian, never in my wildest dreams could I ever imagine the USA as an enemy to Canada. I know it's not all Americans and my heart aches for them, but the relationship is permanently damaged beyond repair.
