These institutions are for Canadians to get an education so that we can compete economically with other countries. If other countries all send their people here and those people stay, the economy for Canadians gets ruined and now we are no longer competitive. Our own government is destroying the economy of Canadians for that of foreign countries and this is the opposite of what these institutions are for.

Why not educate yourself in your country. Then, migrate to afterward?

Goes to show how unworthy Canadian education is since these students paid high amounts of tuition as a back door to immigration. The moment that door was closed the output was immediate.

They are not being deported. They came for school, and school concluded and the reasonable expectations are they go home. If the thought was to stay, they would have applied for a different visa. A education visa is not a back door to immigration.

This is totally unfair. What's the quality of education Canada has for one international student paying 10 times than the average Canadian?. Absolutely pathetic education and immigration system. World is realizing this and soon people will opt out Canada as a possible future living destination.

Liberal government needs to fix the problem it created with immigration. Canadians do not want their taxes going to support unlegitimate refugees or students who feel that they should automatically become Canadian citizens after finishing their Mickey Mouse courses. There are enough Canadian citizens qualified and well-educated to fill in Canadian jobs. Canadian citizens have been negatively impacted by the Liberals decisions on immigration.

This fee for international student is just for education its a deposit for their immigration !! And the universities known it.

Cut all government funding to universities and give the money directly to Canadian citizens who attend university. That way the international and local students can be on the same footing with no question that Canadian taxpayers are subsidizing foreign students while their own children cannot get admission. (The influx of foreign students is driving competitive admission grades to absurd levels, leaving Canadian students with relatively good marks, marks that were considered outstanding 30 years ago, unable to get into universities in their communities.)\n\nThe reality we have here is that Canadian taxpayers still shoulder the majority of education costs in Canada, but those same taxpayers' children are being denied education opportunities in their own communities because of foreign students. This has to stop, even if we have to fire every university administrator there is to get it done.

The industries that require trained students should be funding universities. What is the point of education if one can't find a career after graduating?

For these students, every subsequent graduating year of revolving door international student diploma mills, their degrees or diploma's devalue as thousands more pile in and strain our infrastructure causing everything else to become more expensive. Isn't this CLEAR EVIDENCE that a significant number of international students only come for work and immigration and not for education? I'm not saying they are doing anything wrong; people will do whatever based on the incentives available to them. Work and an eventual Canadian passport are just too good a deal to pass up for many international students.

Apparently the government is addicted to having foreigners finance the education system, which in turn means the international students who pay the highest tuition will receive a free work permit and eventually PR card as part of the deal.

I would require all educational institutions to provide housing for international student (at least 50%). If they have only 16 000 beds for international student combined - the cap would be 32 000 international students.

What is with international students that go to Canada and USA. Think just because they get a student visa. They think its a permanent residency and path to citizenship. Or they have a right to work. A few years ago I went to university of Toronto for free dental care, cost me 350. Bucks was waste of my time and money, never in my life I though that a employee of the university believed she had more rights than I, due to loss of my job 40 years I found myself in a very shita situation. The person who worked for university though she could mistreat the Canadiana and she tried. Maybe if she spoke English she would understand she's not a Canadiana but a student on visa. To much much rights given to these students who actually believe they are better than the Canadiana. Go home get your education in your own country. Big problem it's government who many don't speak English and they actually believe that they have more rights than you. Canadian logic : send back international student who paid to study and graduated then worked then bring refugees give them PR educate them from tax payer money then put them on welfare.
