the Canadian experience I think this depends on your skills and qualifications. I have a number of IT friends who are now in Canada and they were able to find a job in a month without Canadian experience. So I believe it really depends, if you are are a doctor, nurse, even flight attendant probably they will look for that Canadian experience...so to make it short, are you planning to go back to Singapore? I am currently working here in Singapore and getting like more than 10grand a month but it is boring here. In Canada surely I will be able to drive and go to different beautiful places and it is near to US and Europe if you wanna travel. Here, wherever you go here seems like the place is just the same and cost of living here I believe its more expensive compare to Canada. Rentals here for a 3 bedroom reaching 4k a month and so on. So with these are you planning to go back to Singapore???

Rising cost of living is a trend especially when inflation is high in North America, the government should be more proactive in increasing the housing supply and creating affordable housing. Canada immigration system is skill based but the country also needs blue collar workers to fill jobs needed in the economy. I read too many articles where doctors work in factories there. The last is job growth, the government needs to invest in infrastructure and create environment for business to come to the country. Yes, US has the same problems but the salaries are higher south of the border. The average Facebook employee receives 800K compensation yearly.

I'm Canadian born and raised.The main problem is too many people are left leaning so we have the same problems as California,to much bureaucracy,high taxes,crime,homelessness,drugs etc that's all a biproduct of liberalism.High taxes are needed to fund left wing policies like the climate scam,giving billions to ukraine,womens groups,gay groups etc the useless bureaucrats have to justify their position so millions of unnecessary and pointless policies are imposed.I'm a welder and the bs you have to go through is so extream many just give up and do something else.As for immigrants it effects them too so we have doctors driving cabs or nurses working at mcdonalds etc these problems really started to be an issue when Canada got progressive in the mid 90s and never recovered.I heard 50k of born and raised Canadians have been leaving every year for the last 3 years with no end in sight.My countrymen need to wake up and dump left wing thinking and bring back the conservatism from the past that built this country or there won't be a Canada.

I thought of trying to move to Australia or Europe before, but I never realized just how nice and easy things are in developing countries: Just by being a white person who speaks English, I have a well-paying job. I've also lived in Vancouver for 3 years, Toronto for 5 years, returned to Montreal for another 3 years, and have now been in Quebec City for 15 years.\n\nAs a Quebec City resident and business owner, I find the city amazing. During the pandemic, there were many programs and subsidies available. I even wrote to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau regarding the CEBA program for businesses, suggesting some changes to the eligibility criteria. They followed through, and Federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau sent a detailed response, signed by him but likely written by his staff, explaining the revised criteria and suggesting other potential programs. Provincially, my MP's staff guided me through various programs. Ultimately, I received nearly everything I needed to survive and potentially thrive through the pandemic (to be confirmed in 2024).\n\nTaxes are high, but I feel safe in Quebec City. Crime rates are low, and I've experienced little racism, possibly due to my fluency in French. Starting a business here has been easy, with minimal costs and bureaucracy.\n\nAs a gay man, I've never felt endangered. I can comfortably express affection for my spouse in public without feeling judged.\n\nHealthcare, including access to medication and doctor consultations, is extremely affordable. Super Clinics offer next-day appointments at no cost.\n\nI own a commercial condo for my business, which cost significantly less than it would have in Toronto or Vancouver. My rent for a one-bedroom apartment is CAD 755, and electricity bills are remarkably low.\n\nWith the shift to online business, I've accessed international markets while benefiting from a low-cost, safe environment. I received a CAD 2400 subsidy from the Canada Digital Adoption Program, among other government-funded programs, to expand internationally.\n\nAlthough homelessness exists in Quebec City, many supportive programs are available, and most homeless individuals here are polite, likely because they face less stigma.\n\nI believe it's crucial to explore different locations when moving to Canada. Family doctors choose how busy they want to be.

Canada is becoming worse every day anyway!!! Salary are low (while cost of living is skyrocketing), which is why we have so many Canadians and immigrants who are becoming so anxious, depressed and facing all sorts of mental problems), people are moody, quality of life is decreasing and transport is trash compared to France and the lack for doctors is making this country look like a third world\nEconomy!!! Even Canadians are happy to leave this place and honestly, we think of leaving it too for another country.. that you can trust me! (My 2 younger sisters are actually leaving and makes plans to leave Canada behind for good to immigrate elsewhere and my older brother plans to relocate to a warmer country.\n.. and NO!! I am not going to buy a 1 million dollar house in Vancouver at the expense of my well being!!! It ain’t worth it no more!!! Better buy in Europe.. like France or Portugal!!!!

In Illinois, this Palestinian mother and 6 year old son were brutally stabbed by their landlord after he heard the lies from Israel. The mother pulled through, but this happy little boy did not.\nAnother story came from Texas, where a Palestinian doctor was also stabbed outside her home for the same reason. She did not make it. There are other stories, but I will say my husband, who is not yet in the US yet, that I would wear my underscarf and then an appropriate hoodie for my scarf. EVERYTHING is covered. I feel that I am safe and inconspicuous with this slight modification. Our goal is to keep me around for a long time.

The definition of a canadain is an american without a gun and public health care... otherwise it is hard to tell the difference.... Canada has almost 9 months of winter and 3 months of bad skating... The province of Quebec which is still part of canada (don't tell them that) has the language police to be as anti-american and any democratic as possible, they only tolerate english if it is in US$ and tax other taxes with the most expensive bloated government of any state north of Mexico. The cartels are envious... all things purchased are imported (except animals and greenhouse tomatoes)are american with the exchange rate of almost 33%... If you are a doctor or nurse or medical specialist trained in western medicine like Europe, Australia, etc. You almost have to start over.... SAD. Like América, big cars/trucks are king, public transit is not a thing... yeh there are some buses in a few major cities, more of an after thought... The only positive thing about coming from another country climate is you have something to compare with.... Personally i was born here so where do i go... A few friends have travelled to the US but have not returned... its warmer in Texas i guess... Canadians are suspicious of Asians because they come with money and buy up property esp in Vancouver/Toronto hence the concern... As for you making friends, you seem to be very Americanized, speak English well and not so traditional except for being married... you would make a lot of people comfortable among traditional Canadians... just my after thoughts...

Sounds like the whole world needs skilled reconfiguring...not many in the health care sector (doctors especially), too many in the 'cheap labour' divisions. Throw in A.I and the recipe gets even messier. The rat race towards commercial profiteering will eventually drive humans over the living edge.

Im lucky to be a home owner from 2011 and have a good job but I cannot accept the horrendous, corrupt and incompetent healthcare system we have..i know so many people who are basically going to die because of the horrible doctors, delays incompetence lack of resources etc etc etc....worst gov run healthcare system in the world... pure evil!! Theres no reason for these hospital staff shortage (same with the US shortage). They could make tuition for nurses and doctors more affordable but they just aren't. What incentive does anyone have to go into those feilds - yes you'll have a job but you can expect a ton of debt, long days with poor staffing.

Don’t come to Canada. Housing is expensive, food is expensive, taxes are high and rising. If you do come to Canada bring your own tent so you have a place to live after you get tired of the homeless shelter. Don’t worry there are plenty of tent cities all over the country but do your research because some of them are dangerous. Don’t get sick because it’s hard to find a doctor and the emergency rooms are backed up for many hours to see a doctor. Violent crime is on the rise as well. I’m doing ok but will leave Canada when I retire.

I have a good doctor friend that immigrated to Canada some 25 years ago. Well, I guess even he had had enough and moved back to Germany.

I broke my ankle and it took 9 hours in emergency just to get an Xray and walking boot. I guess this is about average. My family doctor just got up and disappeared one day...left all of her clients hanging. The rumour was, she was going through a divorce and decided to move away. Very professional...

Healthcare: Governments have fkked this up. Admittedly, there has been a problem with nurses and overtime, but we are seeing the Alberta government attacking healthcare workers and allowing them to have also be subjected to the ignorant and misinformed attacks from the far right base over vaccine issues. Unvaccinated people caused more grief than was necessary when hospitals were being overwhelmed. \nTrain more doctors and nurses. Pay for their entire education. Pay them a healthy salary with reasonable workloads. Government should be paying for medical administration costs, rather than having every doctor and NP reinvent the wheel. Let the medical people do their primary job. Pay rural docs and nurses appropriately for having to endure the small town folks and farmers who think that only certain people are worthy. Privatized (and even profitized) healthcare solutions have become a nightmare for Americans who are not well off. And yet, we see our far right A hole political parties trying to push for this.

As a resident of the capital region of British Columbia: houses are 2-3x the cost they were 10 years ago. You can no longer get a doctor. Food and gas prices are also through the roof. \n\nEarning $100,000 in 2023 is like making $50,000 in 2014 in terms of spending power. This is an absolute disaster.

In my province healthcare is ostensibly nonexistent. Wait times at ER's are well over 12 hours and you're often directed to go home without ever seeing a doctor. \nThere is an extreme deficit of doctors. I've been waiting 6 years for one and there are people who have waited much longer with no relief in sight. \nHousing is unaffordable. A decent (nothing special) one bedroom 1 bath apartment is around 1600 a month and this is a largely rural province, not a metropolitan city. \nHomes are being bought as fast as they go on the market at extremely inflated prices by people moving here to escape the more populated provinces. This has raised property taxes by 20% in the last 2 years.\nThe economy is in shambles. Homelessness is exploding and the government seems uninterested in fixing it in any realistic or helpful way.\nFederal and provincial income taxes are nearly 50% of your income (44% for me and a bit more for my wife). So, what money you do make you get to keep a little more than half.\nElectricity is about 3 times what it is in the US and the rate here is increasing by 29% over the next 3 years.\nGroceries are unreasonably expensive and becoming more pricey by the day. Provincial sales tax is 15% on top of those groceries as well. \nThis is a short list of a few of the more glaring issues but there are far more. Canada has transformed over the last 5 years into a place I hardly recognize anymore. If something isn't done about it soon we'll be living in a third world country by 2030.

Im white canadian and there has been no jobs for me and yes no doctor no jobs no rent way to expensive my canada died when all greedy people came and rent went up when 500,000 immigrant come a year of course the system cant handle it but the worst is all refugees who are complaining because they used to have better…. My wife waited 24 hours to see an emergency doctor 2 weeks ago in a winnipeg hospital and commented to me that a lady there had been waiting there for 48 hours also I waited for 2 years to see a specialist but part of that was during covid, also the wages are some of the lowest in the country here in winnipeg and still has some of the highest property taxes in the country and now with bill C11 and bill C19, with all of these Canada has a lower living standards than more than a few 3rd world countries. Our civil liberties here have changed for the worst and the future looks bleak, I would have moved away if I could but I can't as I wont leave my family behind some things are really more important than money and that's family but still I fight on and hope things will one day change. Also recently the canadian government did a standing ovation to a Nazi and froze the bank accounts of peaceful protestors, really not looking good for Canada.

We immigrated to Canada to create a life we would not have been able to have back home. However, not only did we not obtain a better life, we lost the opportunities that we would have had back home if we had stayed there. We came here to be able to buy property, to have secure employment in the fields that we were trained for. We came here to have better medical care. At this point, to see a doctor, we prefer to fly back home and to get diagnosed and treated there because of the long wait times and doctors who are reluctant to prescribe tests and are just passive. They just care about the paperwork they need to complete instead of diagnosing and treating patient. We immigrated to lower our stress levels but they doubled and tripled due to debts, the risk of being laid off or fired so easily . I work 10 hours a day, but I live in conditions that a jobless person is living. The salary I earn does not help me improve my life and to buy a house and to generally improve. The issue is that Canada is being dangerously overrated and is being marketed for what is not true. Hopefully with social media the realities will get out and reach people.

Nonsense: I recently bought a home with only $ 6.8 M CAD as a down payment. It’s a cheery subterranean place less than 100 metres below street level, and a little crammed with all the brooms, mops, and cleaning supplies that the subway staff keep there, but at least my fellow troglodytes and I literally have the Underground trains at our doorstep. Anyway, the alternative is living ‘al fresco’ during our balmy winters, an option that my doctor has recently taken up. Canada’s great, eh? ??

I wonder if the reason so many in so many places believe that medical care is a problem is actually a matter of expectations. I know that in the 90s, my little town in Kansas had as many imaging machines as the entire country of Canada, but Canadians were certain they had superior medical care, as did the English. Expectations.\nEven then, if something was so bad that only a silver bullet treatment would possibly help, they still send patients to the USA because they are not equipped to help. Quiet management.\nBut basic medical, especially if you don't have much money, was traditionally better in England. I don't think Canadians had choices, but the functional reality was similarly better than in the States. Expectations.\nFor some time, Americans have had a sense that miracles are practical things that happen all the time, just pull out all the stops to keep grandma in agony another week. This has been reinforced by the civil courts. It is dangerous to be a doctor who does not recommend EVERYTHING be done to prolong life, even miserable life. Insane expectations that waste a lot of money. \nBut basic medical? Just shut up and go to work. Expectations.\nA century ago, there were no significant differences in expectations amongst developed countries because the expectations, based on the technologies of the day, were the same. Plus, there was only so much that could be done, so the total costs of everything were predictable and could be paid for publicly or privately less angst or disappointment. Expectations.\nWhen the technologies change like they have been in medicine in this century, it's good guess that so do expectations. It's also a good bet that there is a mismatch between expectations and available resources. Broken system.

I was born and raised in Toronto. I have no family inheritance to give me a jump start. I make good money (middle upper class) but I’m still struggling financially. Not because I spend like crazy or anything, but because taxes are crazy and everything is so expensive. And now with the high interest rates, my monthly expenses went up $4000+ for no reason. Just based on interest rates. I had a pho lunch for 2 last week and it was freaking $70! Crimes are increasing like crazy and the government keeps having talks of handing out money when we are in so much debt. Seriously the government right now is discouraging talented hard working ppl and encouraging lazy leeches to keep being lazy. Our healthcare is also a joke. Doctors know nothing and are only there to write prescriptions. The amount of people I know that was misdiagnosed for conditions so obvious that any 10 year old can figure out by googling their symptoms is ridiculous. \n\nBeing a Toronto native I really hate seeing the city/country crumble like this. I am starting to question if sticking around is the right choice. But I’m so established and embedded here I don’t know how to uproot everything and move elsewhere. I'm American and I have met many (hostile) Canadians over the past 20 years who do not hide their anti-American points of view. One thing many Canadians seem to think is that they are smarter than Americans and cite PISA scores as evidence. What most Canadians do not seem to understand, however, is that more than 50% of their HQP (Highly Qualified Personnel) which includes their engineers, scientists, and doctors, are from East Asia. These people are their #1 import, and with them they bring higher IQs and a culture centered around education. As for the US, unskilled/uneducated migrants from the Middle East, Africa and Latin America are our #1 import. All in all, White suburban Canadians and White suburban Americans are identical in terms of academia. And no Canadians, you are not 'bilingual' in that everyone speaks French in addition to English. Your government declares Canada bilingual because it names both English and French the official/national languages of Canada. A vast majority of Canadians, however, do not speak French fluently and the number of Canadians who do speak it is in decline. Simply Google it. It's all there.

Canadian health care is good for the basic things but if the poop hits the fan and your condition is more serious America with insurance wins. If they diagnose you with a tumor in let's say May the give you a prescription to slow it's growth and maybe they can pencil you in for October to remove it (real story). Over the last 2 years thousands of Canadians have taken the Government option of doctor assisted suicide.

Born and bred Canadian here, I just wanted to weigh in on the hospital issues spoken of @ 9:20. \n\nA HUGE contributor to this problem is one that everyone seems to be afraid of addressing; immigration. \nThose of us who have lived here and paid taxes all our working lives to contribute to the health care system are the ones who should be getting the best use of it. \nMake no mistakes here, if someone moves here and works to contribute to the hospital funding, that’s fantastic and I hold absolutely nothing against them using the system they contribute to. \n\nThe problem I have is when they bring their elder family who will never, and have never, contributed to this system. Then they have no qualms with clogging up waiting rooms and doctor’s offices waiting for care that WE all pay for, born Canadians and legal citizens alike. \n\nI know there will be some brain dead folks who want to cry racism here, but it’s simply an observation. I immigrated to Canada in 2010, and here are my experiences inside and outside Canada. I am grateful for a good education; having a Canadian passport opened up many opportunities in other countries to build a higher-level career. However, if I had known the amount of stress, health, and financial damage that I had to endure, I wouldn't have chosen to come to Canada. I would have remained in the US or EU countries where I could achieve even more without suffering to the level I did here. \n\nMisleading immigration promotion: The government-sponsored Canadian immigration program oversells what Canada can offer. It withholds information on the cost of living, chicken-and-egg problems like Canadian work experience is required to get a job at the same level as you are in, Canadian credit history is required to rent a proper apartment, Canadian education is required to secure a high-level job, etc. \n\nHiring process: I knew the Canadian system was not ideal for immigrants over a decade ago, but it got so bad now that even the born citizens are unable to survive. The Canadian government and employers lack a basic understanding that ambitious, high-achieving people immigrate to other countries for high-level positions using proper channels. It's ridiculous to see that Canada uses a point-based system to choose highly qualified personnel to enter their country yet expects them to pursue low-paying entry-level or labor jobs just because they have brown/black skin. At first, I thought having a Canadian degree and experience might help me get high-level jobs, and I didn't think how I spoke or looked would matter when I had high credentials to show off. So, I got my masters & Ph.D. from the Univesity of Toronto, which consistently ranks #1 in Canada. I have a bachelor's from a prestigious university in Asia and had a high-competitive, well-paid federal government job in another country. Still, none of that was recognized in Canada, and I had to volunteer for over 6 months, 10 to 12 hours/day, in a research lab that led to a funded PhD program. I worked even harder during my Ph.D. with many accomplishments, like 40+ research and leadership awards, internationally recognized scientific discoveries, and innovative technologies. I checked all the above and beyond in various domains (research, teaching, leadership, business, engineering consulting, collaborations, etc.). Yet, employers couldn't see past my race, gender, age, etc., and refused to give me the opportunity at the level of my qualifications. Luckily, I managed to secure short-term work in the UK & the US, and it changed even how I see myself. I was highly respected for my credentials, given higher positions than I applied for, and paid 3-4 times more salary and benefits. Of course, bias is an integral part of every society, but my race, gender, age, etc., were not as big of an issue to begin my career at the mid-career stage in these countries as opposed to Canada. \n\nHealthcare: Access to healthcare was another big challenge for me. When I moved to Canada in 2010, due to extremely low temperatures, I developed hives all over my body, my eyes got red, and I coughed for many months. The doctor said there was nothing wrong with me and refused to give me any medication. It took us years to get a family doctor, and we got one through my personal network. In 2015/2016, I developed an autoimmune disease, and my eyeballs popped out. As of today, I did not get to see an eye specialist as they have only 1 specialist in the area, and the waiting time is for years for the first consultation. Every time the family doctor told me that I had iron deficiency, even when I insisted that they should run additional tests and they cleared, they were flagged. The doctor never diagnosed my autoimmune condition. Luckily, during my short-term work in the UK, I saw competent interns who completed my care. NHS is poorer than the medical system in Canada... they are understaffed, don't have hospital beds after surgery, or don't have stock of paper gowns, yet the staff are highly competent and caring. Within 1-2 years, they did complete diagnosis by sending me to various specialists, completed eye surgery, and even found a lifelong condition that was preventing me from realizing my full potential. Following, in the US, the doctors confirmed the diagnosis of all the conditions within 1-2 months and put me on two small pills for life. It has dramatically changed my life, and I have even more admiration for the medical profession. While in Canada, I suffered for over a decade, and every time, I was treated as a hypochondriac and never given a single prescription. \n\nQuality of life: Big cities like Toronto are mainly affected by high crime rates, overpopulation, cost of living, low employment, low salaries, etc. A few months back, there was a huge auto theft, and one of my contacts lost their Lexus car within minutes of parking. Despite being a scientist, I have no faith in politicians or individuals fixing these problems. The salaries are not increasing, but the taxes and cost of living are on the exponential growth curve. The ridiculous part is that Canada expects you to pay taxes even when you are not employed or living in Canada! I lived in London and Boston, and they offer a much higher quality of life and pay. \n\nGrowth potential: No wonder Canada, being a G7 country, falls at the bottom of the list in innovation, equal opportunities, economic growth, etc. It has a decent education system but, due to its inherent bias in the hiring process and monopoly of certain businesses, loses talented immigrants and highly qualified Canadians to the US, the UK, and EU markets. Unless there is a dramatic shift in policies, Canadians, especially new immigrants, cannot expect any positive experience in Canada except for being discriminated against and losing valuable time and money by being there.

This is actually just capitalism. The more monopolies, the greater the income inequality, and the more broken your country becomes.\n\nWhen mentioning the housing crisis, it's important to remember that it goes along with a massive homelessness problem. And a very large percentage of the homeless population are people with untreated mental health disorders, because there's no effective mental healthcare in Canada and it's almost impossible to get disability for a mental health disorder.\n\nMany people don't have health insurance, and if you don't have health insurance, you can't afford medication, which is incredibly expensive. Which means your disability increases. It's extremely hard to get a family doctor (I was on a waiting list for 3 years before I finally got a call, and I've been trying to get an appointment with a specialist for over a year now). The hospitals are telling people to stay away unless your situation is dire. The food banks are turning people away because they're running out of food.\n\nAs far as I can tell, the government no longer cares about anyone who isn't wealthy.

To be honest, Canada really isn’t a remarkable country, we are not a knowledges-based economy like in the US, we do not have a good health care system compared to how much money goes into it (as a Canadian with a health care plan and family doctor) and our housing market is..well you know \n\nLove my country but it is not remarkable in anyway

SOOO many bad things about Canada! I agree with you. In a nutshell: A terrible healthcare system (eternal waiting periods and no doctors), No jobs available (only if you want to work low paying security or fast food jobs), the worst climate on the planet, high cost of living, taxes and NO housing! Quebec also has a serious language problem. So leaving Canada makes PERFECT SENSE.

Canada has been sold from us Canadians by our greedy politicians and corporate interests. This idea that Canada just needs to build more homes is insane. There are millions of new immigrants, student visas, and illegal borders crossings every year. Most of Canada is desolate frozen tundra, rocky mountain, bog, dense forest, and the few spots where the weather is moderate everyone wants to live. People dont want more homes to be built because we can already barely drive anywhere due to traffic congestion, no one has doctors anymore, water restrictions start in early spring, no room for kids in schools. Everything is over crowded and over priced because theres way too many people here in a short amount of time and the infrastructure isnt close to being able to support it. The only ones benefitting from these out of control immigration practices are multi national corporate interests looking for a large cheap labour pool.

As a 59-year-old Canadian lived here all my life I recently had surgery and was quite happy with the results I think part of the problem is people will get a little fever and they have to run to emerge but maybe you should try taking Tylenol and see if the fever goes down stop running to the doctor with so many little problems. It’s very natural for us to get sick when we’re young it kills us a better immune system when we get older.

Canada, ha you mean India, in the last decade 100s of 1000s of Indians have flooded to Southern Ontario (which by all measures is Canada) to the point that sometimes one feels like they are stranger in a strange land. Of the 2.2 million who arrived last year approx 500,000 are students They are huge profit centre for landlords and colleges and universities. And let's not talk about healthcare!!!\n\nThe other huge issue is healthcare - forget about getting a family doctor these days it's a choice between MAID or going to the US to get life saving healthcare (paid out of pocket of course). Long term not much will change - discussing immigration is still verboten in Canada and while I expect the Conservatives to form the next majority government thier policies mirror those of the Liberals.\n\nBTW it's not a half million per year it's well over a million new comers per year!

It is not sustainable to live in Canada anymore unless you want to be slave for rest of your life. Taxes and Prices are too high to live here.\nHealth care system is fked up along with housing. \n5 of my friends left country for better salary and life to other countries. Find good job is getting harder and harder every year. Low pay job does not even pay your rent. It becomes joke now what they did to this country.\nI have to fly out of country for full medical check up spend 2 hours and 800$ cad but i went thru test which you have to wait in canada 1 year or not permitted. Full CTI Scan MRI , endoscopy and full blood test, etc cost me 800$ and just spend couple hours without waiting so i got my result. In Canada it is not possible even you approve to go.thru test waiting time min 6.month. to visit family doctor 4 weeks waiting time. \nDo not waste your time.and money moving here there is only modern slavery here

Canada US is not suitable for Indian however if he young comes \nfor studies then ok u have to scary for better future. India is educationwise, and othe rliving is better tahn Canadian US but it depends oyour choice. One can be more comfortable in own culture and cutry. In india u get imported items of Brtian whic rmind of pre aprtion brands even medcines . In Canada US the medicines is different high potency u cannot get withut doctor prescrtip ehreas in inia medicl store can b hellpful. In dina storee su find India no issue hwoever transortation in suburbs is problem
