The dollar is going strong. US is drilling more oil & less depedent on canada. I never let the media dictate what i should think

I think all this shows is that Canada relies too heavily on the USA. A new economic bloc needs to be formed.

As a New Zealander I am very proud of when we stood up to the US over using our waters to transport nuclear weapons. I think Canadians should feel the same pride that your standing up now. Don't let them bully you just because of there power, Canada has many true allies all over the world.

The US has a trade deficit around $1 TRILLION. So, this isn't anything personal against Canada; I think Trump wants to impose tariffs on ALL imports to encourage domestic manufacturing and flip the trade deficit. He's just using situations of importance to also gain political leverage.

I want our Canadian stores to voluntary withdraw ALL AMERICAN GOODS ASAP and replace them Canadian or international replacements be it European, Chinese, Australian, Brazilian, African, Indian or even Mongolian! Economic boycotts and voting with our wallets is the only thing that will make psychotic authoritarian despots think twice and make no mistake he is!

I just ran the numbers, Canada exports roughly 19% of their GDP to the U.S.A. the U.S.A. exports roughly 1.3% of their GDP to Canada. I don't think Canada wins.

Both Mexico and Canada have fallen into Trumps trap, if you do not see it, let me explain. Trump has been pushing for more manufacturing at home, for more oil drilling and for more rare minerals mining. He can impose those tariffs and either Canada and Mexico agree, or the do exactly what they just did, think they can win a economic war with the United States. See, Trump gets what he wants either way, they don't cooperate, Trump gives huge tax incentives to companies to start producing here in the U.S. which will in turn reduce the price of everything for Americans, see, if you produce it here instead of overseas, Canada or Mexico, we can pish for a huge increase in overall production reducing the costs to consumers, since the products no longer have to be imported. Like i said, sometimes i don't think the left has any brains left.

Was due to fly to Denver on Thursday for a short vacation. Immediately changed destination to Bermuda tonight. Canada is definitely more vulnerable but i think US is under appreciating how united Canadians can be when pushed. Back in 2016, Trump introduced 25% tariffs on China 301-classification imports that severely damaged my business. For whatever reason, he then exempted the tariffs, but the public still assumed that they were in place. It was a perfect Trump win-win move to make the voters think that he was acting tough, while actually exempting the tariffs for us importers. Unfortunately, Biden got into office and immediately took away the exemptions and screwed us. I mention all of this in order to exemplify how nothing is as it seems when it comes to Trump. Sometimes you have to let this stuff play out before overreacting. I think that Canada made a mistake by overreacting so quickly. This will force Trump's hand to pursue the trade war, even if it was not his actual intention.

Canadian here while I support what the PM is doing, I don’t think a tit for tat solution is enough. Canada needs to look for other trading partners like China. Let’s have a free trade agreement with them and rip up USMCA. That’ll fix the trade deficit overnight. Similar thing for military we can save the Pentagon billions by leaving NORAD and NATO and building a strategic joint defence agreement with China.

I think the countries that's being sanctioned now should try to trade more and build resilience from dependency on the US.

Your number one concern as a member of the untied states armed forces is the safety of American lands and its citizens. On every corner is a homeless Citizen or a Veteran sleeping on the sidewalk unable to get any sort of assistance, housing is scarce and rent is high, while many working Americans can barely afford to put food on the table, keep the lights on and pay rent?? \nThis is NOT ok. We need to ramp up the border security. What makes them think they can avoid deportation long term?? What makes them think they deserve assistance while our own people are suffering and dying on the streets? Why should we care about immigrants when we can't help our own people??! It's completely different than ours. We are given opportunities from birth. Basically to common deer, the life that we would like to have well, at least most of us are. In the United States, people from degrading. Or degraded countries are not giving those opportunities. So I would imagine over the years. They’re more fit for it than me. I was born a woman, still a woman, and I can promise you I wouldn’t set foot in the military bc I don’t trust the people running it. I don’t fully trust the govt. Together let’s do something about it instead of leaving. Canada isn’t a country like China where no changes can be made by its citizens. I’m an immigrant, first arrived here in Canada in 2014. Once I heard the US wants to annex us I asked myself what can I do to help prevent this. I think the quickest way is we need a stronger military. I looked up the Canadian military website and found out me as a permanent resident can also be qualified to apply. Although the compensation isn’t that great, if the US really start being unwise I will definitely apply.
