Trudeau, you are putting Americans and Canadians through this because you don't want to see that Mr. Trump just wants fairness and for some reason you want tariff wars. I think Trudeau touched on what the actual plan is. It sounds like the whole plan was to weaken the Canadian economy to allow American billionaires to buy up Canada through the stock market They want to claim ownership of Canada's resources the same they have done to us.

This trade war is only going to bring True Americans, Canadians and Mexicans closer together in solidarity against the Trump Regime. He even says that Trump is “intelligent”, which only plays into the imbecile’s unfortunate NPD psychology! The unwillingness to stand strong against American tyranny is harming democracy worldwide! Force Trump to declare a side! And make him choose Putin or democracy NOW!! If you fail to do that, you are taking the path of accommodation, and if Trump is really a tyrant (which he surely is, because of MANY evidences!!), democratic countries weaken their position by not standing strong NOW. If Europe and Canada and Mexico ban Tesla imports and place 50% tariffs on tens of billions of dollars of American products, what would happen? Are these countries AFRAID of the United States? I called the Canadian embassy in Washington DC this morning. I told them as an American citizen. It saddens me and breaks my heart that we are treating our allies with such disrespect. I do not stand with the United States government and their treatment of our allies. I also called the Mexican embassy and told them the same thing. I didn’t announce Trump in his cabinet and what they’re doing to our economy that we have worked so hard to resurrect again after he was president last time. I, urge every person who does not agree with what is going on to call the Canadian and the Mexican embassies and just let them know that we stand in solidarity with them and against our government here!

Everyone thinks that this is Canada standing up, but what this means is that the Canadians with our economy that is 1/10 that of the US will be taxed at 25% on our imports, this is going to hurt canadians way more than the retaliatory terrifs will hurt the americans. This may also lead to an escalated response from the US exacerbating the effect. Trudeau and others can't seem to grasp that there may be a long term strategy from Trump and this is playing into it. \n\nThe truth of all of it is that Trump does not like Justin Trudeau or the Liberal government.

I'm Canadian. And in my 50s. We've always tended to joke back and forth about stereotypes from our countries. I've always felt we looked up to American ideals ideas and this is why we felt strong to stand with America with many things. I've sometimes not been happy with our Prime Minister but he left a mark, and I'm proud our country is more united but I'm sad at what cost. I hope this is short lived.. I don't like fighting with family

Need an immediate 50% tax on Americans buying Canadian real estate. Prices are already dropping in many areas and with the low dollar, easy pickings for Americans to ‘invest’ in real estate.

As a Canadian, here's my biggest concern. The whole border thing was nothing more than a ruse. Trump has cozied up to Putin ... basically, he's Putin's poodle. He's tossed Ukraine to the wolves. (Though, I think Europe and Canada will increase their efforts to help Ukraine.) My fear is Trump will find some way to justify sending American troops into Canada to simply seize the resources he wants but is unwilling to trade for.

As a Canadian - Trumps 'brilliance' has done one thing for sure, it's aligned all of the provinces against our neighbor and former ally the United States. It's done something we ourselves have had difficulty with - gaining support from Quebec. The overwhelming vast majority of Canadians don't trust the US anymore, as the legal justification for the tariffs is absolute bull, and is a pretext for Trumps actions. My family has cancelled all US travel, in my case 2 trips this year worth 15K to the US. I will miss Vegas for my 60th. We used to shop in WA State weekly; last year I spent 11K in WA State, and routinely took in shows in Seattle. No more. \n\nCan anyone please explain why Trump is screwing over Americans? Seriously.

I’m Canadian. I’ve not been a fan of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in the past, but he is the man for the moment and I’m so proud of him right now! Articulate, thoughtful, calm and firm.
