Immigration in Canada is a cycle. My guess is in 5 to 10 years the doors will be wide open again for immigration as the Boomers die off in mass. Housing is an issue because the entry level houses are not being built. I know guys in construction who develop homes and they ALWAYS build upper to high end houses because they are more profitable for the builder. Combine this with many people buying 1 or 2 extra homes and then using them as airBnB (Igor! lol!). But the worst is large hedge funds buying massive amounts of homes for profit. Some estimates say 20% or so of the housing stock is owned by hedge funds atm. In the last 4 years Hedge funds made MASSIVE purchases in real estate as a hedge against inflation. Canada does not exist in a vacuum as the USA has some very similar housing issues. One last thing is people do NOT want home prices to go down. 2/3rds or so of people own a home and the LAST THING they want is for their home value to DECREASE! So you really will not see massive changes to decrease home prices no matter what political party is in power. The majority of voters have a vested interest in high and higher home prices. Making it easier for people to buy a home is probably the best short term solution.

I am West Indian, descendent of India indentured workers. I love my country of birth, Canada where I have lived since 3, and I have much love and pride in my Indian roots. That being said, I have come to feel embarrassed of being taken for East Indian by other Canadian people. I moved to small city outside of Toronto in 2004. I loved it here! People were so welcoming, kind, friendly. I felt no prejudicial treatment from any of my neighbours. \nFast forward, my little city is now overrun with new Indian immigrants. I can’t tell if I am in the heart of Toronto or Brampton or my city of Oshawa. \nThe Indian people I encounter in the grocery store are pushy, have no Canadian manners, speak their language loudly, come to the stores with their entire family which fills up the isles and cause long lines. All the sale items are sold out by the time you get there because Indians are filling their cart with as much as they can purchase of any of the on sale merchandise. This never happened before. \nI am also saddened by being assaulted when an Indian person passes by and wave of body order sickens me. I don’t understand what the cause of that is. Not bathing regularly or not using deodorant. But I notice this everywhere I come in contact with Indians, men and women, young and old. \nI feel like I will be mistaken for East Indian myself which I have been when I went to the hospital. I was treated like I couldn’t speak English lol\nThe worst is the Muslims, they are the rudest the way they fill every available free space, make women feel uncomfortable and are just intrusive and unable to incorporate themselves with other Canadians. They also have a superiority attitude. \nThis is a plan honest list of observations. I hope they learn to integrate with Canadian culture, improve their language skills and learn proper hygiene. This isn’t totally accurate, and comparing Canada to the US is like comparing apples to oranges, a more apt comparison would be Canada and Australia (similar government structure, similar population, similar economy) unlike the us that has 8x our population and is the richest country in the world lol. \n\nThat being said the problems with the Canadian economy are pretty straightforward imo, for housing it’s simple, the Canadian government has invested heavily into the real estate market with things like the Canada pension plan being largely invested into the CPP. There is also a huge amount of people who have banked their retirement on the value of their home, for the most part these are blue collar workers. These two things combined have created a huge problem for the government, it basically has to choose between fixing the worsening housing crisis and in the process wipe out the savings and retirement accounts of millions of Canadians or let the problem get worse and worse until something boils over. This problem is also being compounded by the increasing number of international students being misled into coming here, they are being promised world class education but are receiving bogus diplomas from what are essentially sham colleges (thanks Ford). \n\nWhen looking at the competition in the country it’s a more complicated problem than people like to admit, in order to not become a client state of the US we have to place stronger protections on our industries and media, this insures that Canadian money stays within the Canadian market but has the drawback of discouraging competition. Now if you ask me the solution to this is to nationalize large industries that are being controlled by large oligopolies who unnecessarily manipulate the price of goods like Bell, Rogers, Loblaws, air Canada, petrol Canada, etc. By taking control of these industries the government could have better control of the price of goods and should result in better prices for consumers in turn we’re leaving some of the pressure placed on us by the cost of living crisis. This worked wonders for alcohol which in Ontario brings in 1.5 billion in revenue for the government each year, imagine how much internet, electricity, phone service and produce could bring in.

Old mother India has out spawned its own pond..Its country CANNOT and DOES not offer a future to its people. Thats a failure by any normal standards. What gets me is, just how many millions have just arrived in other countries in the world. Their numbers and communities exported and imported so solidly everywhere. Within 2 years here in the uk, I am sure there are now, somehow more Indians here than ALL the other groups put together. Its astounding to see the indigenous and others be outnumbered by one group (south Asian continentals) in such s sudden and impactful way. With these movements Politics change, voter types, the , the shared future vision, shared cultural norms, etc resources like public transport trains, rosd traffic, shops, hospitals, public spaces are jam packed overall. No more quiet or isolated spaces, just 24hr pushing, shoving, shouting, mobile phone worship and loud speaker, conference video calling (my God this one grates my soul) destroys the respectful unspoken social and shared rule of EVERYONE else somehow, its insane! The place has no time or space to think. Blink and your place has gone. In every sense: social opportunities, place in queues job opportunities(as they set up internal networks that u are excluded from) aka as smugglers and their smuggled, housing bidding, corrupting of housing laws, benefit fraud all massive problems for local authorities and larger government overall. Under clearer terms and better conditions and planning Im with migration as a theme. Mass intinction to enable mass migration lol maybe less so!! Good luck to us all, we need it. Most of zs just trying to make a living and do right by our family's and our better selves — who can really knock that ???????‍♂️

I’m a Canadian and my wife is an immigrant for Punjab and even she thinks this is all getting out of control. She came here to start a new life with me after we met and to get away from Indian culture which she thinks is now seeping into everything. In India it’s survival of the fittest, one must do everything they do and take advantage of everything in order to scrap by. Canada and the Canadian mindset isn’t equipped to handle that, so it’s no surprise you’re suddenly seeing Indians everywhere who are telling Indians back home how to exploit the systems to get more money fast. Hijacking what systems Canadians have to gain the social mobility that they can’t have in India but in doing so they’re making it like India. They don’t respect any other culture than their own my wife won’t even step foot in Brampton because it looks, sounds, and even starting to smell like India. And the problem is being exasperated because these people who are from very tight families are trying to bring their whole families too people who are elderly with no literacy or language skills to integrate into Canadian society to work and contribute to the economy so they just live off of their children who came first. I suggest viewers take a look at StatsCan’s crime severity index which confirms that Ontario is the safest province or territory in Canada (safer than PEI lol). There are also scores for cities and Toronto is safer than almost every other Canadian city, safer than even Ottawa or Calgary, twice as safe as Vancouver, nearly three times safer than Winnipeg. If we start comparing to US cities, it would be even more shocking. Suffice to say, Toronto is not only safe, but it’s the safest major city in Canada and one of the safest major cities on earth. \n\nThe homelessness crisis has certainly gotten a lot worse, sadly. As has the cost of living, but you get what you pay for.\n\nHaving travelled to 35 countries (doesn’t mean I’m an expert, but I have some experiences in other places), I respectfully disagree and think Toronto is one of the greatest cities. It’s one of the greenest cities in this continent, safe, on the lake, super close to other major cities, great infrastructure (relative to Canadian cities anyway), it’s beautiful and there’s a ton to do, not to mention the diversity. \n\nDon’t be turned off by this, if you can afford it, it’s one of the best places you could live on this planet.

I am Canadian, I was born here in the 60's, I've travelled around the world, including the US but have always lived and worked in Canada. I love my country. saying that now....\nThe last 10 years for Canada has been the worst ever in history, our government has destroyed the foundation of what it means to be Canadian and has made this country look very bad on the world stage.\nEventually that will change.
