For all of you GO Canada people. The majority of Canadians oppose what our government is doing. This man has destroyed our economy and done everything he could to stop international trade of LNG and oil by shutting down all pipeline and LNG PROJECTS WE HATE THIS MAN. It is not Trump BAD it is everything Trudeau did above and more that killed us. these Tariffs would mean nothing to us if he hadn’t fiscally destroyed us. We are getting what we deserve. Unfortunately it will lead to destitution of many people. I can’t wait to see his party gone. We are running out of time.

I’m Canadian and I’m terrified for us as well as all the innocent people that will be affected by this. I find it curious though that past presidents haven’t made any remarks, at least that I’ve seen, about all the things Trump has done in the last six weeks. Where are the condemnations about tariffs, the way Zelensky was treated and the fact that Trump is the one letting human traffickers (allegedly) across the border? As in Andrew Tate and his brother. Trump is the one allowing criminals in. Trump is the one about to sell gold cards to anyone for $5,000,000. That will include known terrorists.

I have voted for Trump 3 times. Canada has over charged the USA through tariffs for years. I know you will miss the money but just suck it up like we have had to do. Pres Trump is for the American ppl and all his decisions are directed that way. For the ppl from our country that have commented on this statement and love Canada move there, right away.

I personally think Trump is after Canada to become part of the US. So, he's making stuff up to make the countries leadership look stupid. Trump is completely unreasonable. There is no sense dealing with him, period. If it is going to be 25% or even 50% with reciprocal tariffs, we simply DO NOT import American goods into Canada (if our retailers don't order them, there is nothing they can do) and if we export, the consumer is paying those tariffs and we continue to manufacture. I honestly think that is the best, maybe the only, solution. If tariffed countries stop buying American goods, maybe Trumputin will reconsider. And if he doesn't, he doesn't. He isn't known for his brain power.

These tariffs are not because of trade imbalance, fentanyl and other excuses. It's about destroying alliances that were built and enhanced for decades. Only Russia will benefit from this and add many around the world knew all along, Trump and his cronies and doing Russia's bidding.

Trump wants the Stock market to go down because his rich friends can buy stocks low, and then he will take off the tariffs and then the price of stocks will go up and then they will really get more rich!!

Netherlands here: Trump HAS to impose tariffs because he promised it a zillion times during his campaign. As a major narcissist he cannot afford to say that he made a mistake, and therefor: tariffs. I predict however that this period will not last very long. Only as long as necessary to make it possible for Trump to say that they didn't work out as planned because of some reason.

Every single country has huge tariffs against our country. All Trump wants is for them to pay us the same we pay them. Why any taxpayer would be upset is against it is beyond me. The tariff war won't last. It will get ironed out in negotiations on other matters, probably in the form of tighter border restrictions, correcting some farm goods imbalance, and increasing tariffs on Chinese imports. Trump states pretty plainly in his order that this is for purposes of leverage, not punishment. I'd wager Trudeau caves to his demands within a few weeks.

When are people going to realize that the Tariffs have nothing to do with fentanyl crossing the Canadian border, that is just a smoke screen. the real reason is the fact that Trump is Putin's puppet and Canada is aligned with Ukraine, so now they are trying to hurt and possibly ruin Canadas economy. I cannot believe on his last days as PM, he finally started fighting fentanyl, under the threat of tariffs and he wonders why they still put them in place. It’s probably because they want to make sure that he keeps doing what he should have done for Canadians along time ago. I voted for Trump, but it's hard not to agree with Trudeau on this even though I find this guy to be extremely unpleasant. There's no reason to start trade wars all over the world and in particular with our neighbors. It's one thing to threaten tariffs and a very different thing to actually apply them. If you do it has to be accompanied by a lot of diplomacy so that the other country is not overreacting, but Trump has been super combative prompting our neighbors to respond in kind to save face. While past deals may not have been great for US, this is not the way to handle our differences. Billionaires like Trump and his friends will be fine, but the majority of ordinary folks in the US and Canada will suffer. Very dumb, indeed.

In points i support trump in his administration but in some not, he says he would reduce the inflation but i don't see that he will do that the products are higher expensive now and his tariffs all over the world the inflation will continue and jobs are no jobs the salaries are cheaper ?

The real question is, will the American that will be affected by these changes stand up. Trump and the people in is circle won’t feel the effects of these tariffs. But the average American will. He ran on lowering prices, just to turn around and sing a different tune.. mind you it’s only the second month of his term. What will America look like in 4 years? Will there be an America in 4 years? The average American can’t afford a $400 rainy day. Many rainy days are coming our way..
