Not only is it it impossible to live here, there are no resources unless the government gets something from it. As an indigenous child who grew up in foster care my whole life, there was no indigenous foster care homes for me to go to and therefore my culture has become traumatic for me. My OWN culture has major trauma related to it and my foster care agency would NOT help me unless I moved to the reservation after I aged out the THEIR system, which was not applicable because they were the ones who traumatized me. When I turned 19, I was expected to have it all figured out, I was not allowed to remain in my foster home afterwards without massive paper work and thank god my foster mom cared about me because without her, I would be on the streets with nothing but a garbage full of clothes. I moved out on my own with the help of that family and my agency said they would help with things if I asked. As of the economy now, I did ask them. I asked them for any help at all and my social worker LITERALLY ghosted me and stood me up, even at my plea for help. You would think this is just my case but there are hundreds of cases like mine with even worse endings and what Canada has done with this information is nothing. Foster Care in Canada for indigenous youth is the 2000’s way of Residential Schools and I am EXTREMELY lucky to NOT be homeless and dead. Many of my friends in similar situations are dead or homeless and I have no hope for Canada, it’s an extremely depressing reality.

I am sorry one of the reasons you want to leave is that your culture is not as accepted as it could be. As a non Muslim, I have found your videos very educational. I hope you find what you are looking for and thank you for sharing your story.

Thank you for your honesty and I admit, I am so ashamed to be a Canadian. Canadians have ALL been lied to and betrayed by Trudeau. Assalamu'alaikum, I am from Indonesia, I should be more grateful that I live in muslim country that can hear the beautiful voice of adzan five times a day, easy to find halal food and also my mom provide me learned reading qur'an since I was a child, also feel the solemn of Ramadhan month with people reading qur'an every night from the masjid using speaker. That I believe I cannot hear on non muslim country. Thank you for your share and make me realize that I should thank Allah more. Sadly everything you shared is pretty accurate. I got got followed to my work place by a stranger I met in the TTC streetcar. He proceeded with attempted to assault me in the building of my workplace. This left me traumatized for months, thank goodness I overcame my fear of riding the TTC. On the question of rent, it’s insane it actually may force some people to stay in bad situations just so they can maintain the living conditions they are accustomed to like staying in toxic relationships or terrible roommate situations…etc. I did get very lucky, moving in 2022 from living with a roommate to living on my own in a bachelor same area and really nice area in Mimico by the Lake for a rent of only $1400. Simply because my landlords are an old couple not greedy at all who prioritize having a good tenant over making extra cash but having to deal with different tenants every few months just because people cannot sustain the increase of living in Toronto plus paying their bills and rent. So there is hope, if you can find a landlord that has these values you won the lottery. I’m hoping things change for the better in Toronto, there’s no reason why the city cannot tackle all these issues in a more efficient way. But like sometimes I think of moving to a smaller city and if it weren’t for my current rent which is very low for the time we’re in, I would have moved to a cheaper province a long time ago. You've missed the elephant in the room. Due to the open US/Mexico border and flooding of illegal migrants, the illegal migrants hurt those who've gone through the system legally and have essentially cut in line. If you flood the economy with migrants (both legal and illegal), most who are considered low skill, due to the aforementioned border crisis, it'll drive the wages of Americans down to unlivable levels and cause those who are in the immigration system to continuously be in the perpetual waiting system. By failure to mention this big topic issue, you have done a disservice to this video and have missed key points, rendering this video as incomplete and false. I live next to a drop off destination for Joe Biden's migrants. I would have to say they appear to be victims of the Democrat party, in that, like many other groups of people they have been lied to or given false hopes of success or prosperity. It is evident every morning when about thirty men gather in groups awaiting, perhaps a local contractor, to drive up and offer them a few hours of work, digging a hole or some other menial task. We also now have these corner Hey Cocos fruit stands where another of Joe's migrants sits for hours, making a couple bucks, at best, and a few more for whoever owns the cart and provides the fruit. I can only imagine where all these men must be sleeping at night, who might be paying for their space on a garage floor. Their only relief comes from gathering at the park across the street to use the barbecues and tables, and share a meal. For some the meal leads to beer and drunkenness. I watched the police send five of them back to the garage since they were all in a car drinking, even an open alcohol container in CA is illegal. If I were one of them I would have been arrested, but these lucky Biden immigrants were simply told to walk away. I hope the police at least impounded the car. Ten o'clock on a Sunday morning, people jogging, people walking their dogs, unaware of Joe Biden's guys, ready to drive away in drunken bliss. Thank you Joe. Thank you Democrats, you have created another group of dependents at least you can give them free health-care, I suppose that's one way to say they have improved their lives by coming here.

I know of a few taxi drivers that have law degrees or a PhD in the way they get treated is astounding the young need to be educated not just the Young the ignorant people say they're taking our jobs they're taking our jobs because they're work ethic is 100 times better in some cases in most cases people that are from a country that has benefited them wouldn't know damn thing about a hard life. I have experienced or found amount of trauma in my life in and out of foster homes the day I was born adopted at age 9 back in foster care , addicted to opiates I thought life couldn't get any worse I am now 6 years clean from opiates I find myself among the luckiest women or person on this Earth. Hello and thank you for sharing your experience living here in the United States. I was born and raised here. It looks to me as if you live in a north eastern state. I do too, Michigan. And to be fair it can be very boring living here in the winter unless you like being outside in the cold. If you do there are so many fun things to do like skiing, sledding, snow shoeing skating ect.. But in the summer months everyone has fun and socializes where I live in my town. We have a lot of kids . 4 parks all different to enjoy. We have 4 or 5 lakes to enjoy and a large river that runs through our town. People are always walking, running, riding bikes and playing sports all around here everyday all summer. There are also many different clubs and groups you can join with people of like interests all year round. I would say if you are the type who likes a lot of interaction then get out and look around. Not everyone is sitting in the house all day. Also maybe try another neighborhood or state if your not happy where you are. Also if you feel disconnected from your neighbor's then may I suggest having a BBQ and inviting everyone to come and bring a dish to pass to get to know everyone. We have one in our neighborhood every summer and it started with one new neighbor who moved in and wanted to get know everyone. I hope you will receive my suggestions in love as I feel sad that you feel so lonely here and I hope it gets better. You could be the one to change everything for your neighborhood. ?

It's my second year in Canada (Toronto) and I am yet to experience the niceness that Canadians are so known for. I hope it's just a Toronto thing! I miss the basic courtesy... Sorry, thank you, smiles.

Canada is what you make of it. You can arrive rich and end up poor and you can arrive poor and end up rich. In between that, you can have a great life that balances your needs. I’ve seen immigrants succeed simply because they see the opportunity in front of them . They worked hard in their own counties to stay just above the poverty line ,but when they apply that same effort here it pays off ten times greater. I feel that compared to a lot of immigrants, natural born Canadians come across as spoiled and a little lazy…we are. We haven’t had to struggle the same way someone from a poorer country might have. I’ve talked to people who’ve worked ten to twelve hours a day just to stay afloat. If you did that here you could make plenty of money to live and have some left over. As far as owning a house goes,yes it’s expensive . I feel that homeownership in any country is relatively expensive. Here is a tip; use that soaring home prices to your advantage. Houses are expensive but you can make a lot of money buying and selling. I recommend putting together a buyers group and share the house for a few years, then sell at a profit, buy a bigger house or two smaller houses.try to buy the worst house in the best neighbourhood and fix it up slowly . That house could double in value in five or six years in the Toronto market. This is nothing new of course ,the people from India and China seem to do this a lot here ,it drives up prices and profits. On the downside to this ,you are now part of the problem. As the housing prices are driven up the non wealthy can no longer afford to own a house . They are at the mercy of high rents with no rewards of ownership. They are caught in a cycle of hard work and (relative)poverty. This could also be you if you can’t keep up the house payments and are forced to rent.\nHow well you speak English is important but your native language is also useful here because Canada is half immigrants . As a Canadian that speaks only english (Irish descent)I have to say to all newcomers that I’m very impressed that you have learned a new language and that you may even speak more than two! Don’t be embarrassed about your abilities . I find that in my experience , Canadians do not look down on people just because they don’t know English. In fact ,I’ve known people that have lived here for decades and still know very little English. They are comfortable in their communities and they function just fine. Learn as much English as suits your needs and be proud of any gains you make.\nOutside of Toronto are other cities that you might consider when looking at southern Ontario.From my experience,most are generally the same, just not as big . There are large immigrant communities in London Ontario, Hamilton and just outside of Toronto where housing is just a little bit less expensive but the commute to work is probably longer. This is just my opinion but in the small towns there are less people of colour , (which is what people of no colour call everyone else . I wonder if I’m called a person of no colour in some other culture ? LoL ). That might make it harder for you to feel integrated ,if that’s what you want. I’m not saying that people from other cultures can’t make it in a small town , I’m just saying that it’s definitely not Toronto . Here, people of any nationality can feel like they have a place where they can belong . It seems that no matter where you are from ,there is a community already here that’s set up restaurants and stores and clothing shops and newcomer support systems. And if your from Portugal or China or India or Africa or the Middle East, there are large groups of your kin here that have established roots for generations and you probably know this already.\nToronto means meeting place and that becomes evident quickly. I was born here and it’s one of the things I love the most about my city. I’m not going to say that there isn’t systemic racism here ,the people of no colour still kind of keep the top position , but as we become a minority in a decade or so ,I hope that will shift to a broader spectrum. It’s certainly happening already. One good thing is that the police department tries to hire people of colour so that racialism may play a smaller role. We’re getting used to seeing our politicians more and more reflect their constituents.\nI have to talk about the weather. Because I’m from here I’m used to the extremes of minus thirty and plus thirty . Eventually you get used to it (somewhat). Dressing in the right clothes is important. Summer is easy , but winter is different. It’s trying to kill you. Spend the most that you can afford on winter cloths . If you can afford a quality parka you should get one. The hood can be drawn around the face and stay out of the wind.\nIf not ,think of layers with a outer layer that blocks the wind. We have things called long Johns that are basically full length thick cotton or nylon pants that go on under your pants and a pair of extra thick socks. Buy your boots to fit your thick socks. Try to get the best boots you can afford ,it’s something that you might spend a little extra for but never regret.\nAll in all we are a fairly organized and peaceful society. Most people are friendly and will give you a chance . We have a good social safety net here and you don’t have to be homeless or starving if you don’t want to. There are people and organizations set up to help ,that truly try to get people back on their feet. It’s a good investment that pays off in ways that matter for the quality of life in a big city. I’m not putting my American neighbours down when I say they do things differently. They have their ways ,we have ours. This is just something that we do because we’re trying to learn how to help those that society has discarded or can’t find their place. Sure we have one or two areas where the homeless have pitched tents and we have some resources for them if they want. Unfortunately The mayor recently forced a small camp to move from a very visible place to more scattered locations. There were social workers involved as well as protesters trying to protect them. I didn’t like that happening and I want to see even more resources dedicated to them ,but on the other hand ,we are trying to avoid something like what happens on the streets when it’s just ignored. When I see YouTube videos of the streets of Philadelphia I’m extremely saddened. I thank the lucky stars that I was born in Toronto Canada.\nFor all it’s pollution and expense and crowds ,I think it’s a great place to do almost anything your heart desires . For every ugly building there is a beautiful park ,for every honked horn there is a birds call , for every cold and dark day there is beautiful sunny one around the corner.

I am from the United States. I have advanced degrees. I am actively seeking a job in Canada to see if I would be happier there. The US may is great compared to a broken country, but not to other developed nations in my opinion. I wanted to see if the pros outweigh the cons in Canada. After over a year a little bit finally I was able to travel to Canada just this week. I damn ate 6 Poutine in 3 days lol . (Quebec Province) . I hope restrictions get smoother in near future. Hello, I just watched your video. Three years after you made it. I hope you are still with us and a very belated Welcome. Many people throughout the world seem to have so many stereotypes about Americans. Whether it is good or bad there typically is some truth in a stereotype. Overall it seems like you are enjoying yourself and no matter what there is no place like home. I would think no matter what your current situation is you still miss Canada as I would miss the United States if I were to move to Canada. \nA couple things you mentioned in the video were not correct and as with anything there may be a little truth in the matter but yet still incorrect.\nThose who do not have health insurance are not charged or taxed $150 monthly. There is a provision in the affordable care act (ACA) that penalizes certain individuals who make above a certain dollar amount. The amount is either $150 or $300 for the entire year. I concur any monetary penalty against anyone for not having health insurance is outrageous. I could be wrong but I believe this aspect of the ACA was never implemented under President Obama and it was indefinitely suspended or revoked by President Trump. I also feel like I need to address your thoughts about the United States all about war. I believe the American people are like most other people and want peace and civility. The government and major defense contractors have differing opinions at times. Of course there is plenty of people who are war hawks but they are in the minority. Most of us are absolutely sick of war. We currently have been at war for almost 19 years. That's six complete world war 2's in their entirety. \nI think you were being awfully generous when you said obesity is on par with the rest of the world!! Unfortunately there is far to many fat people here and the problem is only getting worse because the media says be happy and proud you are fat. Celebrating obesity is absolutely insane and it sends the wrong message to young people. If a close one is fat of course I love them but I also tell them privately that they are a walking heart attack. It's more than OK to accept someone the way they are but as a friend or family member you doing them a disservice by not mentioning their obesity. \nI'm sorry if you feel I'm being to harsh or critical. I think it is a wonderful thing to share the world's longest border with such a great nation as Canada. I have always thought Canada was like the United States fraternal brother or sister.
