I am an American and Canadian. I live in America. It is INSANE to me that (from what I hear) people dislike Trudeau enough for him to resign, yet I see him here acting respectfully, intelligently, honorably. This is what a good country has reasonably decided to be a bad politician.\n\nPan over to America, and our man in office is egotistical, irrational, dishonorable. His lust for power drives him to split the country and burn our bridges. We are meant to be a good country. We can't agree to call him bad.

My man JT! ?? I have gotten a lot of flak for sticking by him. I know deep down, this guy is a good guy, despite flaws, which we all have. His heart is in the right place. Its a shame having to see him go.

i live in Canada and i do not agree with what Justin Trudeau is doing. We SHOULD back down from fighting! This is a war we cannot win.❤ Most people in Canada want Justin out of office. The government here is out of touch with reality, and out of control too.❤ i think Donald is doing a pretty good job. He is putting tariffs on imports because he wants people to buy items that are made in the United States of America. i think that is a good thing for Donald to do for the country of United States: putting America first.❤ The way i see it is that Canada is going to war with both Russia and the United States of America! Crazy.

When you look at a long line of MAGA't Zombie voters and you see them all smiling and collectively they make one complete set of teeth and then you allow them to vote in their golden pig and make him president, this is what you get! Why can’t we have a real leader like this! Instead we have a belligerent egomaniac Russian asset as president. He shouldn’t have even had 10% of the vote. I really truly hope that America has a whole will look at ourselves in the mirror at what we’ve allowed to be, and change our ways by coming together as one country that wants to see Americans do well and be good and be able to take care of their families, regardless of race or sex, or gender, immigration status or any of the superficial barriers.

I am a Canadian and I love America and the American people. I hope we can put this behind us sooner rather than later there is no need for any tension between us. We always have each other‘s back. With that said, I would like to see Canada step up to certain obligations, including with NATO, but as far as a trade work goes, this is not good.

We are heartbroken to see our country kick its allies to the curb and be a bully to impress Putin and Russia. And we are afraid of what’s to come. No it is NOT hard to believe this is going on. When you elect a criminal who floats the rule of law and the Constitution, this is exactly what you should expect. I used to be a huge fan of America. I truly believed it was the world’s policeman, the guiding force for justice and freedom. 1/2: Myself and the saner half of the US that read, understood, and voted against Proj 2025 understands why they need to levy retaliatory tariffs especially as a Michigander who's lived less than 4 hours from Canada all her life, who has family in Quebec and Ontario, and is a job-seeking policy professional and international trade nerd who now cannot in good faith seek a job in the federal government. We have been looking and still do look to Canada as a model quite a bit and love Canada and Canadians to pieces. We Michiganders especially in the central and eastern UP and Detroit and Ann Arbor area are friends, coworkers, and family of Canadians. Some are even dual citizens. It is sad that it's come to this. \n\n2/2: I still personally just can't wrap my head around how a trade deal Trump put together himself and called the best (the USMCA in question) is all of a sudden so bad. Logic doesn't work with these types of people... I really want **someone!!** to ask him/ admin officials about the USMCA **to their face** and see what they say because I am so upset by this nonsensical and corrupt administration.

This is sheer STUPIDITY. I have no idea what Trump is trying to accomplish here. What good can come from such policies? Is he trying to start a new Great Depression? Start a Third World War? I see no rational thought put in to this at all.

While I am going to financially suffer from this, I want to see our country start new deals with Europe and Asia. Until tRump is gone and ALL of his minions have left office, I don't want to see any deals with the US. \nWe knew Trump wanted to destroy Canada financially. The actions by the current American administration will hurt everyone globally… for what? A vanity project? As an American, this is so painful to see my fellow citizens choose such sweeping destruction of good relations between long term allies. It’s absolutely heart wrenching to witness this along with all of the other atrocities that have happened since January 20.

We (Americans) don’t want this either. Musk and trump are illogically running rampant. We (a good portion of us) want them gone, this was clearly a mistake on us that voted (or didn’t vote). We know trump and musk are liars, ignorant, and corrupt. We as a people have to figure out how to get this nonsense out. And for the record no I’m not a liberal and no I’m not a conservative. I see the pros and cons of both sides and both sides have beliefs I agree with and some I don’t.

It's too bad that Trudeau's Government did so little about fentanyl, also about our poorly-controlled border and destructive immigration non-policies for so long. Hence, driving Trump's scorched-earth policy (The Tariffs). That said, it blows me away that Trump was so vociferous about the Lawfare that was lined up against him in 2023-24, but he doesn't see that excess use of the power of the State is wrong and immoral in this Canadian and Mexican case. Trump only knows the right of might. Threats, coercion, bullying. He doesn't otherwise distinguish between right and wrong; only about what is good for him and his ego. The Tariffs will drive very bad business outcomes in the US. Including, inflation, and lost jobs. The Stock Markets are already tanking. At this particular stage, his ego will not allow him to back off, that's my prediction. Much pain for all Americans (and obviously for Canadians) will first have to ensue. Canada must receive its spanking, and Donald will have to save face. Ultimately, he'll invent some dishonest pretense to put the genie in the bottle, while the economic damage to all sides will be severe. But ... Why would he care?

Canada is scared because they need US more then we need them. The US will feel less pain from this if Canada wants to play games. All I see is a scared Trudeau who gave a good speech

It’s amazing how left-leaning individuals like to commend themselves on being “educated” but can’t even define how this war started, or why Biden/State dept. sent billions to Ukraine. As an American I look forward to this trade war with Canada. I've never respected Trudeau as a leader and I don't respect him now after a speech. So please, teach me a lesson and I hope Trump retaliates further to teach you yours. This is your time to show us how wise or how foolish you are and I'm here for that. Good job Justin. There's nothing else you could have said or done. The problem as I see it, is that responding in kind to Trump like this is possibly to invite an invasion, justified by Trump claiming that Canadian assets are essential to US national security. It's hard to parse the provocation from the US as anything less than a pretext to eventually try and annexe Canada. Maybe Russia will attack the Baltics at the same time. It's becoming increasingly obvious that the US Government is no longer a friend to the free world.

Good to see Trudeau set the tone cos Mexico needs to set the same tone and the EU should be equally harsh in its terms. Trump is starting a trade war with Allies while cozying up to Putin. Putin must be laughing watching this. How much the world has changed for Putin. Trump is doing everything Putin wants and more.

Our congress is so afraid to lose their positions. This will get very bad before it gets good. So hang on folks something big is coming.

Born and Raised in Canada and there is another sort of comparison I'm starting to see more and more: We have the Stagnation of Japan and the the Personality of Britain. \n\nWhat I mean by that, the people in Canada, least the older ones (Boomers), got very conservative and never wanted to rock the boat and do new things. They had in their eyes a good thing. They had work and owned their home. None of them wanted to risk that so they kept things the same for the past 3 decades or so. Well a lot has changed around the world, and were pretty much the same old. Literally. In retirement. Whats the last interesting thing Canada has done since the Canadarm? \n\nI can think of a number of achievements the rest of the world has done, including many 3rd world countries. But Canada is the same old. This has become our Culture. We don't talk about new ideas. We witness them online, but we're not Creators. We are Consumers. And that is what I think happened to Britain after they got resettled after WWII. Britain is pretty dry. And so is Canada. Hence our forest fires!
