A lot of us Americans remember learning about the tariff wars in history class that ended up in deciding fair trade was the better route. I fear we’re about to learn the same lesson again…\n\nAs far as the drug trade goes apparently the GOV doesn’t spend enough time on the internet because the cartels are no longer just in Mexico they’re in the USA and in Canada. They have learned the Canadian border is a lot easier to cross and they can get into BC pretty easily due to relaxed immigration policies In Canada.. they probably don’t actually know where the drugs are coming from or where they’re being manufactured entirely. The cartels are probably a step ahead of them at the moment. \n\nI can’t believe the auto industry lobbyists were not instructed to go full send on the detriment of the opposite position taken from the NAFTA. The only thing I can see is auto sales are slumping and maybe they can blame this on the tariff policy for massive restructuring. \n\nI kind of understand wanting to negotiate with Mexico because they probably buy less American goods than Americans buy Mexican goods (drugs excluding) but I’m guessing Canada is a better customer of American goods than Americans are of Canadian goods. Why would you want to upset a good partner, customer, and ally!? It’s Beyond my comprehension…. If Trump was really smart he’d convince some factories to actually invest in Mexico with cooperation from the Mexican government investing in efficient transportation from the manufacturing sectors to the American border and the coasts for distribution. This would likely really help their economy and change the whole dynamic of all the things Trump has issues with. Fix it at the source not try to treat the symptoms.

Canadian here. The tariffs will hurt. And this may just be the beginning of a sprawling trade war, but make no mistake, Canada is not for sale, and Canada, despite its soft spoken nature, is determined to keep going on its own way. We have free trade with the EU and Pacific nations. For any US companies who find themselves caught up in tariffs for their export markets, consider setting up your export shop here, to keep your Canadian customers, and continue to have access to European and Asian markets under free trade agreements that are respected, and operate independently of any decision made by President Trump. Businesses need predictability and stability, and your neighbors to the north can provide that to all of your export markets.

If you make over $220 Cdn, expect 50% tax if in Ontario. Then you have high property tax, high sales tax, tax tax to pay for a crumbling health care system and education system. If you need social support, come to Canada! The others will support you through our taxes! lol socialism sucks

Everyone who is not successfully living a a temporary student but had a student permit should be deported. Regardless from where they come from. Canada is not for sale, these agencies should be closed and their owners penalized and payback the money taken, these expenses should come from their pockets not from tax payers who are sick of these errors.

Went through the pathway of studies-work-residency-citizenship\n\nLet me simplify the story for all of you guys here that lacks immigration intel. \n\n1) The quality of migrants you see here is not what Canada needs long term. It’s not a matter of ethnicity, but Canada needs to import talented and educated folks in medicine, engineering, trades etc. None of these individuals are interested in studying and are either attending 3rd grade colleges/universities to get a work permit and hoped to stay on. \n\n2) Shoddy sales tactics include lying or ‘avoiding stating the obvious’ that could make you lose the deal. This is exactly what the Canadian government did with these people. The Canadian dream was sold somewhat properly before 2017/2018 I would say. Post Covid there was a MASSIVE need of manpower in minimum wage jobs. The government could not afford increasing minimum wage at the time and international students would do exactly those jobs and bring in millions of dollars in tuition fees. The government opened the gates for these strip-mall colleges to take unprecedented numbers of students with allowances to work. These students were sold the exact same dream that a top quality University/college student is sold about Canada. They needed to be used at the time. And if they would’ve been told that their quality of students are only needed temporarily, they wouldn’t have come. The labour shortage at the time wouldn’t have been solved. So a CATCH 22 of the highest order. \n\n3) Canada CANNOT give in to such protests as it will set the worst example of migrant pandering for future generations. The best talent will refrain from entering Canada and more and more of these types of immigrants who do not want to assimilate to the Canadian culture will want to keep on coming.

I went to high school in Brampton Ontario, in the mid 80's and there were no Indian immigrants anywhere. After high school, I moved to Montreal to work as a fashion designer, (I have to mention the shock I experienced whenever I would fly into Toronto for business... when I went to get a taxi, there was always a massive line of Indian taxi drivers standing outside next to their taxis. I had the feeling that I was no longer in Canada, but somehow ended up in India?) Having lived in Montreal for 30 years, I recently moved to Guelph Ontario, to be closer to family and I was shocked to see how many Indians had moved there, (going to the dog park, I was informed by the people there, that Brampton was called Bramladesh and Guelph was turning into another Bramladesh.) There was a massive temple built in Guelph a few years ago and suddenly Guelph was invaded by Indian immigrants, with every house put up for sale bought by an Indian family, (the husband, his wife and their kids, the brother and his wife, their mother and father, all living in a 3 bedroom house with 3 cars in a 1 car driveway, (for some strange reason they all choose to dig up the black asphalt driveway and replace it with white concrete??) So yeah, the white people in Guelph are fleeing en mass, as it becomes impossible to sit in the back yard, or open a window, without choking on the powerful stench of spices coming from the Indians living next door... it's like being punched in the face from the horrific smell when you walk your dog and pass by one of their homes! That said, it feels like their goal is 'global domination' and with 2 billion people living in India today, it's just a matter of time before they all decide to leave the most over populated, the most polluted and the most corrupt country on the planet, and move to Canada!

I worked in a retail store with where Indians shopped regularly. They were the very rude to the sales helps. They talked down to us and they were the worst thieves the store has ever seen. Our regular customers started going else ware because of this problem. I'm afraid Canada is no longer a great, desirable country because we have aloud it to be taken over by the east indians. It is the governments fault but is is also the fault of the indians because they have not adapted to the Canadian way of life. They want us to adapt to their way of life. I am West Indian, descendent of India indentured workers. I love my country of birth, Canada where I have lived since 3, and I have much love and pride in my Indian roots. That being said, I have come to feel embarrassed of being taken for East Indian by other Canadian people. I moved to small city outside of Toronto in 2004. I loved it here! People were so welcoming, kind, friendly. I felt no prejudicial treatment from any of my neighbours. \nFast forward, my little city is now overrun with new Indian immigrants. I can’t tell if I am in the heart of Toronto or Brampton or my city of Oshawa. \nThe Indian people I encounter in the grocery store are pushy, have no Canadian manners, speak their language loudly, come to the stores with their entire family which fills up the isles and cause long lines. All the sale items are sold out by the time you get there because Indians are filling their cart with as much as they can purchase of any of the on sale merchandise. This never happened before. \nI am also saddened by being assaulted when an Indian person passes by and wave of body order sickens me. I don’t understand what the cause of that is. Not bathing regularly or not using deodorant. But I notice this everywhere I come in contact with Indians, men and women, young and old. \nI feel like I will be mistaken for East Indian myself which I have been when I went to the hospital. I was treated like I couldn’t speak English lol\nThe worst is the Muslims, they are the rudest the way they fill every available free space, make women feel uncomfortable and are just intrusive and unable to incorporate themselves with other Canadians. They also have a superiority attitude. \nThis is a plan honest list of observations. I hope they learn to integrate with Canadian culture, improve their language skills and learn proper hygiene. I am also looking. In canada there is unrganised land for sale. No buildng permits or no municipal taxes. A new trend is offgrid communuties. I see this as our future. Some comes with your own well on haf acre land. Ony fee is sharing small fee toward plowing road in winter. If you want it or do it yourself. Can be one hour near healthcare and groceries. I can go 3 months without needing shopping presently. You must love nature and homesteading on natural diet, some technical aptitude helpful for solar energy with fuel backup.

I am a Serbian and Canadian living in Canada for the last 24 years. I love \nthis country I respect this country but my God is so much different than it used to be or it is me. This summer I went with my kids and wife to 6 different countries in Europe Eastern Europe and Central and have seen 2 alcoholic then I come to Canada I see thousands of drug addicts on the street. everything is overpriced ppl do not enjoy in here. When I came in 2000 Serbian economy was low due to the war now it is better and Canadian economy is worse so the gap is very small. you need to make 6000$ to live just ok and I do live well but there is always but. I call it a pressure cooker, I wish all Canadian travel abroad a bit just to realize that they were lied too and that there's a lot of bs. I can give you an example: Condo in Belgrade same size property tax is 200$ per year condo in Qc Gatineau 2500$ plus condo fees 400$ per month basically 7000$ wasted for what? no dr wholes on the street broken system. It will be for sale. I agree paying taxes on my house where I live but for rental property when you deduct all the expenses you invested so much money without any profit. the one that works and the one that scams the system make the same amount of money and we live approx the same. something is wrong there. I will live for many years to come but definitely not spending my whole life here due to many circumstances and expenses. Family values are getting killed and I have issues with that. The more I was pushed to change the more I went to church and believed in old fashioned traditional values. As you said I will always be grateful for what I made but working hard for two jobs in the last 20 years I would make that somewhere else too. Record profits in the grocery sector riding on the coattails of price and wage fixing and price increases that have nothing to do with wholesale costs allowed the grocery cartel to more than double their return on food and beverage sales. Protectionist legislation to prevent foreign competition and protect the cartels means there won't be any substantive change under this government. Meanwhile the same government has increased the size of the bureaucracy by over 10,000 people in the last year alone while fewer and fewer actual services are competently delivered because the number of front line workers directly serving Canadians has shrunk. The longer the Junior regime is in power the worse the shock treatment will be.

There are now quite a few news stories in Canada of immigrants leaving the country - some back home and others to the USA and other places. Many just get a Canadian passport and then leave. There are public health care and pensions, so it can be an asset and also a convenient travel document to have. A lot of Canadian university graduates have a very hard time finding work in their fields and a lot of them look to the US for a better future. Both immigration and unemployment in Canada are much higher that in the US - so more people are chasing fewer jobs that often pay less and are taxed more than in the USA. Opportunities are generally a lot fewer in Canada than the US, and the business environment is not as favourable, and taxes significantly higher. You would be getting some of the entrepreneurs from Canada moving to the US for more favourable conditions as well to launch a business and also now a lot more rich investor types, so-called high net worth individuals wanting to relocate, because they just raised the capital gains tax in Canada. Capital gains is also triggered on inheritance in Canada with a deemed sale of property and assets, so rich people would prefer the American system and want to be residents there for tax purposes and have their assets grow in value in the US compared to Canada. There are very large numbers of foreign students and other categories of immigrants which may have as their goal going to the US after getting a temporary visa to Canada which is easy to get - maybe something like half a million to a million people in those categories depending on the year, plus around another half million regular immigrants and refugees now. The Trudeau administration has increased immigration to record numbers. It has been steadily going up over the years for several decades since 1990. Because of family re-unification it can have a snowball effect and could significantly exceed 1 million per year. A lot of the sending countries have much larger populations than Canada, so there are a lot more that can be potentially sent to Canada in the future. About 1/4 of the population of Canada has been added in the past few decades. Add to that visitors and temporary visas - that is a lot of people potentially moving to the US. Before the 1990s Canadians visiting the US were not required to have a passport and a drivers' license or birth certificate was adequate. Now a passport is required. It is impossible to effectively control the long Canada-US border, so there could be some unified policies in that area agreed on between Canada and the USA on immigration and refugees. Canada currently has a very open immigration policy with the government actively seeking out more immigration beyond its current processing capacity and trying to take rejected immigrants from other countries. The Canadian government, especially in recent years under Trudeau is immigration hungry. It might be the only country in the world doing that. What some news reports are now saying is that some immigrants are actually leaving, since they find it so difficult in Canada and some are worse off than they were in the countries they came from, which were considered to be less developed than Canada. \nWashington currently has more immigration controls and administrative competencies than Ottawa, so US pressure and influence is a faster way to get reforms into the system than waiting for local politicians to do anything, which is unlikely. Canada is seen by some as a backdoor into the US. Biden's immigration policies could be seen as very conservative in Canada compared to Trudeau's. It used to be in the news about how refugees were trying to get to Canada and walking across the border in Quebec and out west from the US earlier, but now there are more news stories of immigrants leaving Canada trying to go the other way, probably due to high costs and unemployment because the government took in more people than it could absorb into the economy. They have the idea that immigration drives GDP growth so that they can borrow and spend more, expand the civil service, etc. without making any cutbacks or efficiencies, supposedly without the Debt to GDP ratio getting worse, just by bringing in more people as if that would drive the economy. A lot depends on who you bring in as well. Are they going to go on welfare, are they going to increase crime, will they somehow contribute to society, are they a net tax benefit or cost in terms of government services, will they invest money, will they start a business and create jobs for others ? Those issues do not factor into government decision making in Canada for the most part. Ontario Premier Doug Ford did say there were too many foreign students. It is bad planning not to consider those factors since there are other costs that grow with those policies as well, and infrastructure has to be expanded. I think that the real immigration numbers to Canada are not transparent or made public, nor are the costs involved, if anyone even knows what they are. Nor is the impact on crime. You can guess from what the reports are in other countries. The Fraser Institute has made some estimates on the net costs of immigration to the government budget a few years ago, which were very high and which by now have increased - the cost equivalent of several new aircraft carriers each year. They are big numbers which are not publicized, but it amounts to the fact that immigration is subsidized by the taxpayers in Canada and it is not paying for our pensions as an ageing society as has been claimed. There is less money for education, health care and pensions per person, and those social benefits will probably have to be reduced over time. Social programs can only be delivered to the extent that the government has money. The bigger social system a county has, the more such immigration policies are going to cost. Trudeau has been expanding various social programs as well, so higher taxes and debt are likely with that approach. Then more productive people and companies will want to leave Canada and go to the US. Probably the government does not know what the actual numbers and costs are and doesn't actively keep track of that information beyond what is required. Probably nobody knows what the true immigration figures and their associated costs are in Canada, and hardly anyone has even studied those issues. If they can just walk across the US border and get papers so easily making an asylum claim, it is not surprising, since it would take them longer to get a regular visa and work permit if they did it legally. You could call that a loophole in the US immigration system which is being exploited. The US is better governed in general and has a better system in many ways, but I am not sure if it is the same on that. People have arrived on boats and have not been sent back. At least in the US you have more open information about those issues. In Canada it is hard to find out anything about it. Deportations from Canada are very few. \nOn other issues in Canada when voting in federal elections you have to show a government issued photo ID like a drivers' license or passport to vote and bring a card that was mailed out to eligible voters that gets updated addresses when a person files their taxes. I have never heard of mail-in ballots in Canada, but there are remote areas of the country in the far north who may have special system for voting. It is easier to get a Canadian citizenship than US and many more citizenships are handed out in Canada each year in proportion to the population than in the US. Canadian might be one of the easiest citizenships to get in the world. The official line now is that it is a country of immigrants. Based on current trends, will very little opposition to it in the parliament and most MPs supporting it, future immigration to Canada could increase to several million per year because of the rapid growth of population in the world, and the momentum already growing of immigration to Canada, so it may change significantly in the future. Historically around the world you can see many examples that country names, borders, flags and languages change over time with population changes, so it might not be called Canada anymore in 50-100 years. For example, Bulgaria used to be called Thrace which had been a powerful kingdom in antiquity and had a different language which is barely known about anymore. Over the past 2,000 years it has gone through a number of changes and had various regimes governing it, has been independent and also part of several different empires. Canada has only been a country for a short time in comparison and has been been going through significant changes. Trudeau has said that Canada is a post-national country. Canada is also going through a period of critical self-examination and deconstruction-revisionism. A lot of what had been viewed as positive from its history now is seen more critically, with re-naming and removing historical figures now seen as negative.\nDiscussing immigration policy critically is considered by many to be taboo in Canada, unless a person is saying good things about it in general. You can hear people say that the government isn't processing enough people, for example, but not often that there are too many or that it costs a lot of money. The trend of migration from Canada to the US would only increase much more in the future as it is going currently, and its role as a stepping stone to migration to the US could increase. The way this would be seen by many in Canada is that they are losing valuable people to the USA whom they consider assets, since a lot of officials have been trying to bring in more people into the country, but not everyone wants to stay in Canada nowadays because of a lack of jobs and opportunities. Canada is quite laissez-faire about migration, with Toronto being a sanctuary city as well.

(I remember the shock of flying into Toronto on business and walking outside to get a taxi... there was an endless line of Indian guys wearing Turbans, waiting by their taxis. It was a very strange feeling, as I was not sure if I was in Canada or India.) About 10 years ago, I moved back to Ontario to live in Guelph and had heard the joke about Brampton becoming 'Bramladesh' by people at the dog park, and in the past 5 years, (since they built the massive temple in Guelph) the place has turned into a mini India, as EVERY house put up for sale, is bought by a family from India, with 4 or 5 cars in a 2 car driveway, (strangely, as soon as they move into the house, they all rip out the asphalt driveway and replace it with white concrete??) they seem to be a tribal people and every house is filled to capacity, as the husband and wife are with their kids, the brother and his wife and their parents, all living together. (They are friendly people and they don't cause any trouble... my only issue is the intense stench of spices from their house that fill the air 24/7 to the point that you cannot sit in the back yard or open a window, without being punched in the face from the powerful odour of spices!)

They should tighten regulations regarding study permits and issue visas only to genuine students who want to grow in this beautiful country, rather than those planning to work at pizza shops for the rest of their lives. We also need to crack down on the aggressive sales practices of immigration consultants in developing nations like India. Let's not forget the big culprits behind this: the admissions officers of the colleges, who fully endorse these practices to meet their revenue targets by any means possible, all under the watchful eyes of the government and IRCC.\n\nI've witnessed this firsthand. I openly challenge those consultants and Canadian college admission officers to be upfront with prospective and future students and tell them in person, before accepting their applications, that a study permit does not guarantee permanent residency in Canada. Explain the rules behind that and see what happens next—people will stop coming to Canada altogether. Canada is one of the least densely populated major countries and the problem for your housing prices is less than 1M immigrants over the past 2years? Talk about how incentivizing home ownership as a wealth building vehicle turned into a bubble and a ponzi scheme as those housing investments outpaced other investments. You know who can still afford to buy up houses, hold them, and prevent the market from deflating? Corporations. Shifting taxes that hurt poor people (like income and sales taxes) onto land value taxes would stop most of this. It would become expensive to sit on vacant investment houses and corporations and landlords would be forced to sell them.

I went to high school in Brampton in the early 80's and there were no people from India anywhere... it was very much a white anglo town, and then I moved to Montreal for 25 years to work as a fashion designer. (I remember the shock of flying into Toronto on business and walking outside to get a taxi, there was an endless line of Indian guys wearing Turbans, waiting by their taxis...it was a very strange feeling, as I was not sure if I was in Canada or India.) About 10 years ago, I moved back to Ontario to live in Guelph with my sister and had heard the joke about Brampton becoming 'Bramladesh' by people at the dog park, and in the past 5 years, (since they built the massive temple in Guelph) the place has turned into a mini India, as EVERY house put up for sale is bought by a family from India, with 4 or 5 cars in a 2 car driveway, (strangely, as soon as they move into the house, they all rip out the asphalt driveway and replace it with white concrete??) they seem to be a tribal people and every house is filled to capacity, as the husband and wife are with their kids, the brother and his wife and their parents, all living together. (They are friendly people and they don't cause any trouble... my only issue is the intense stench of spices from their house that fill the air 24/7 to the point that you cannot sit in the back yard or open a window, without being punched in the face from the powerful odour of spices!

I am indian but everyone should follow the law of land ...going to canada with fake papers is wrong ....yeah going through legal means and then contributing in society is different then everyone will ove to absorb imigrants ...so if anyone still desire to go to canada learn some skilled work first like construction , plumbing ,etc and not just relay on sales , restraunt jobs

I sold a beautiful property in Canada ten acres of maple bush with a home . Just north of Toronto .it was difficult but l read the tea leaves.....would it be worth much more today... obviously...but l was lucky to build a beautiful home on a whitesand beach in Asia.....taxes are $500.00 a year hydro $200.00....insurance and other costs are insignificant.....the big gain is peace of mind and absolute privacy with only a fraction of the sale of my Canadian home..never going back

100% True! Very well researched. It used to be better but a 2023 study showed that US salaries for the same work are 46% higher while the US also collects much fewer taxes on both salary and sales. On top of that nearly everything other than education is much more expensive in Canada! We have much less variety of products available too and even imported goods are sold for higher prices. Waiting 10+ hours in an emergency room is considered normal which is really shocking considering that Canada is numerically one of the richest countries!

You haven't mentioned enormous bureaucratic apparatus of the government which costs a lot to run being extremely inefficient at the same time. Canadian immigration program is just a cheap labor scam and Ponzie scheme. My wife works in retail. Earns minimum wage plus commission from sales. She made almost 25% less in 2023 compared to 2022. If adjusted for inflation that would be closer to 30%. My salary was ok in 2018 but became stagnant. Both incomes combined barely make us through the month. The fact that I have to work two weeks in a month just to pay rent is very depressing. Having lived in Canada for almost 6 years I seriously regret decision to move here.

Numbers reported are true and its going to increase in 2024. I live in the capital and I see dozens of distress home sales due to increased mortgages. People face high taxation, heavily overburdened healthcare system, unaffordable rentals, loss of jobs, grocery prices over the roof, rapidly increasing crime rate and robberies, uncertainty about the good days again. Canada used to be a good place to settle, but now there are dozens of other countries that are welcoming with an affordable peaceful life. For Indians, there is absolutely no reason to hunt for a job or better life here as it involves start from the scratch for everything. India is rushing to become the fastest growing economy in the world with millions of opportunities and a solid political leadership, a history in the making.

Great video! Here's my 2 cents: The Social scene is a Western thing. Difucuty meeting friends is a well-documented thing about Vancouver. I think it's because Vancouver has three large ethnic monocultures, and they're all preoccupied with money. West Coast is lifestyle over the social scene. At the same time, Toronto is much more diverse culturally and economically, and culturally, it has a more outgoing social norm. The housing crunch is partially driven by supply and demand, at least not here in greater Vancouver, where I can see hundreds of brand-new condominiums and townhomes empty or for sale. The real issue is the lack of affordable housing. I've lived in Canada my whole life, and im also considering leaving.
