I am a Canadian. We do not want conflict with USA. What we want is for our new leader to be voted in - and then work things out for trade. President Trump is aware of what we have suffered. Canada has stood firm.....the truckers in our capital....brought a siege all over the world for freedom. I do not want the tariffs.....that will hurt us both. But I did not like Trudeau's speech.....it was rude. It does not represent us as a country.

Why is Trudeau making speeches when he resigned.\nThe war in Ukraine must STOP.\nMillions have died from a war that should never started\nEurope and Canada did NOT do enough to stop Putin and now they blame Trump.\nAmerica DOES NOT support Putin. The war must stop.\nTrudeau is full of shit!!!\n?

I do agree with you for some things but not all and i do think it was your best speach since 9 years but it does not take away what you have done wrong over your 9 years attacking freely canadien on there rights example:hunting right, sportshooting rights and freedom of expressing,running after the wrong person example:taking away legal firearms when they are not the problem since 80% of illegal firearms comes from outside the canada, I think that trump is just not taking canada seriously, over the past years since you are in power,canada has made a very bad name except for the freedom convye, which in that case made canadien stick together while you steaded in your office,i do think that a new leader/party should take place and give a chance for canada to walk out the mase you have done over 9 years

Trudeau does not represent Canadians. He has had a minority government for years. Trudeau was finally forced to resign months ago. He should not be speaking on our behalf. He suspended parliament and refuses to call an election. No decision / agreement can be made re. Tariffs, etc. because technically we have no leadership right now. Tariffs have been threaten for months, and the Liberals have made no moves to do what’s right for Canada. He is using this as an opportunity to regqin power. He is not a man of the people.

This is not anti-American, it is just fighting back from an unnecessary trade war. It does however break my heart because many Canadians have family on the U.S. side. I know it would also break my father’s heart as he grew up in New England and had a lifetime affection for the U.S. I despise politics and have not been a proud Canadian for a few years but I have to admit that this speech is getting me going again. Canada needs to get its act together and rebuild its military, not to fend off the U.S. but to hold its own should other countries decide we are ripe for the picking. I want U.S.-Canada relations to be tight again. We’re neighbor. We will have our disagreements and that’s fine but these trade wars will hurt everyone and, if it lasts, may leave lasting grievances.

Go our dear friends and neighbors of Canada! (A 5th generation Texan here depressed by what we have become.) Trump does not care, his paycheck is from our tax money and he will just file another personal bankruptcy if he needs to do so, because he is so good at business (not).

I As an American citizen can only hope that we would have a president in office with the intelligence, compassion and dignity that PM Trudeau has. At this time I am truly ashamed of my country. We have three individuals (manager and engineers)who left Canada. I asked what's going on? Answer: the current leader(ship) is full psychobabble and does not give a SHIT about Canada's people!!! Turdeau, the only thing you have done is SHIT on Canada and its people!!!!!!!!!

Do not fall for Trudeau, he is not a competent leader. His resignation would explain his competencies. I have been all over Canada, and i will say they are polite, kind, funny, great people. I'm from Montana, and we have always had so much in common. Americans ARE NOT in favor of the way our president, vice president, and the figure cloaked in darkness, ARE BEHAVING. PLEASE KNOW, not all Americans are in favor of our governmental policies, and some of us, quite frankly, are afraid. A lot of the American people are still the same. We want to send aid to Ukraine, we want to have a government that does its job, and we want to be friends with those on our borders. We're still here. We're not all like those on Pennsylvania Avenue.

I support Trump and I support MAGA. However a president needs to keep his word and Trump appears to have broken his word here. He asked Canada to reign in illegal immigration to the US and Canada complied. He said do something about fetanyl and Canada did. Trump said the tariff's were because Canada was not acting on these but now they have and we imposed the tariff's anyway. We look like liars and cheats. \nEven with Mexico we threatened tariffs if they didn't help with crackdown on illegal immigration, fetanyl, and drug cartels. Mexico complied and is also helping us. And we still slapped tariffs on them. We lied to Mexico too. \nAnd now we want everyone to trust us to negotiate a peaceful end to the Ukraine war with Trump threatening more sanctions on China and the EU. What the heck should they trust us and believe us after what we just did. \nWhen it comes to defining your character your willingness to keep your word overrules absolutely everything else. Our president gave his word that if these countries took certain actions there would be no tariffs. They did and now he slapped them both in the face with sanctions anyway. He broke his word. This is a dishonorable action. I hope it does not escalate from there. \nIf it was about promoting or building domestic industries, I think the Canadians could have helped us with that but now.... good luck now that bridge has been burned.

Canada has known for decades that we have put too many eggs in one basket - selling our resources primarily to the USA. We've had tariffs before and worked with them. Yet we still keep selling to the USA. This time is different. In conjunction with the tariffs, we have an American administration that is flat out insulting Canada. Saying we wouldn't exist economically if it wasn't for the USA. It's at a time when the USA won't promise not to use military force to annex land (Greenland) from a decades old ally. A time when clearly Putin is calling in his chips for whatever he has over Donald Trump. Canadians have had enough. We are directing our governments, provincial and federal, to finally, finally break from the north-south trade links. We need to establish stronger east-west trade links. The resources we have are wanted by many countries if the USA does not want them. It does mean much work within Canada. We need to get our AB-BC pipeline finished as well as the new sea terminal so we can ship our crude oil and natural gas to Japan and if need be, to China. We finally need to get out pipeline to the Atlantic coast finished so we can supply the UK and EU with our products. We need to double our rail capacity for shipping potash, uranium, rare minerals to Asia or Europe. Just as Trump hopes for a golden age of American companies coming home and building new plants in the USA, this will be a golden decade for Canada to create transportation corridors to get our resources to other buyers. America will have to look elsewhere for his raw materials. And we all know what that is - RUSSIA. They've already offered their rare minerals and crude oil. This is all clearly a well thought out scenario from the people working behind Trump to dismiss America's allies and trading partners - have us turn against the USA - as the excuse to open the door to Russian imports into the USA.

The ChiComs, working with their Liberal minions, have made sure that any election will be rigged. Trump is trying to save Canada because he will send Troops into Canada to eject the Chinese military. He wants to do it with laws by getting Canada to join the USA. If that does not happen, he will use the military to do it, and Canada will be seen as the enemy of the USA allied with China. Trudeau admitted that without the welfare the USA has been providing to Canada, your economy will collapse. The Bank of Canada is bankrupt. The Canadian dollar is about to collapse. How will you feel next year when you need two dollars to buy what one dollar buys now? And plan on having fewer dollars to start with because your carbon tax, your sales tax, your income tax are all going up. WAY up. This is what happens when you decide to compete with a USA that is unshackled. The USA can produce more of our own oil than we can use, and we will sell the extra to YOUR foreign customers cheaper than you can produce it. Then you will be BEGGING for a pipeline. So Trump invited Canada to become a member of the most successful and powerful union of sovereign states in history, something that even our own territories of Guam, Puerto Rico, and all the others do not have. An invitation to be a bona fide member. Why do you think that is? Minerals? The USA has all the minerals we need. We have more oil, coal, and natural gas than any nation also, and we can produce and refine it cheaper than any country can. So Canada was invited to become a state so Trump could peacefully eject the ChiComs from North America. And did you accept? No. Did you say no thank you? No. You gave us the finger and said f&$k you to Trump. We hear you Canada. But now is not the time for pain, that comes later.

Maybe building a Boarder Wall on America's Northern Boarder would be a good idea. Canada is responsible to guard our boarders and allow in only those who we feel qualify. Canada does not close it's boarders to those who wish to leave, nor does the United States close it's boarders to those who wish to leave. The United States is free to put up a wall and a boarder crossing anywhere you wish, stop whoever you want to stop from entering your country. I can tell you that The fastest Boarder Wall that I have ever seen go up is the one that Trump just raised between the United States and Canada, the Tariff Wall. What you have done is put signs on our shelves, buy Canadian. You have taken American Product from the top shelf, to the verry bottom shelf, behind the Made in China. You have closed the Travel Agencies to United States travel, nobody wants to go to your country, and I heard that there is going to be a 250% Tariff on hotel accommodations for Americans visiting Canada. It is not only about the Tariffs on Canada, who Used to be your friends, it is about your new friend Russia, who support Terrorist organizations all over the world, including the ones in Gaza who held Americans Hostage, who supports IRAN who supports Russia in murdering and raping women, kidnapping children in Ukraine, torturing and murdering citizens with their hands tied behind their backs. I think Trudeau is the only one Canadian guilty of this problem. A French official disguised as a religious man was involved in drug trafficking with the Miami baggage handlers. Does Canada have a fairly warm area that I can move to? At 82 I just want out of here as I can't bear the idea of living out the next four year with the insanity that has been heaped on our heads. If not maybe I will get lucky and drop dead so I don't have to watch the fall of America.

Trump was telling his MAGA Republicans that Canada is not a viable country without USA and that they subsidize Canada - Does trump know the difference between trade deficits, surplus and subsidizes??? I have never heard such an UNINTELLIGENT Leader as Trump - someone who is actually a Leader of Country - he is either ininformed or an outright LIER ?? This has nothing to do with Canada or the Canadian people. This is a pure transactional move because that is how Trump sees things. He needs the money to finance his agenda and he has been told that the money does not exist in terms of what the US Congress can provide. They won't cut military spending and they wouldn't dare touch SS or Medicare. Therefore, Trump is resorting to the only available option which is to have the American people pay for it all and that is what he is doing with these tariffs. He doesn't need to worry about reelection so he couldn't care less how much pain he is inflicting on the very people who voted for him. Elections have consequences.

It will be the businesses and employees, not the politicians who are now trying to act tough. If we want this to turn into a real kinetic war, then turning off the taps may do it. \n\n We have seen countless times where politicians tell us what we want to hear, making us think they are heading is a certain direction, only to find they do the exact opposite. This proves you can not believe what career politicians say and have to go by what they do, or don’t do, instead. Yet now, they confidently declare that Canada will never become the 51st state. Picking a trade war with Canada, Mexico, China and major economics is a very bad idea. It will not bring anybody to the negotiation table to get a better deal. It will drive them away from US partnership and they form alliances, new trade routes and partnerships, de-dollarization, etc. Just think why does a country needs USD when they cannot trade with US. BRICS have overtaken G7 in the overall GDP. So, In the end, US will be left alone with limited trading partners. US people will need to pay for tax + tariffs which will put them in a downward spiral.

Canada is also our closest leech. By all rights you shouldnt even be an independent country. You're the second biggest country in the world, you have the 28th largest military. Your entire population is barely over that of california. You're economy is borderline pathetic, and your government is even worse. Kick this Trudeau clown to the curb and get a better PM. As far as im concerned any free nation that limits speech and rights the way canada does is simply not free. We would gladly take everyone west of Winnipeg and accept you into the USA. But Quebec and Ontario can piss right off.

I have no idea if Prime Minister Trudeau reads any of these comments or if his team does, but as an American, I am ashamed of our current government. We have a narcissist for a leader who is a bad businessman and a puppet of Putin. How refreshing to see a real LEADER who actually cares about his country and not himself. I support Canada wholeheartedly. I suspect many Americans will be hurt badly by these embargoes and (justified) retaliatory tariffs - but so be it.

Everybody says they are the friend of the US, until it's time to be fair. To the world, stop being a bunch of children... or don't. But if not, be prepared to suck it up. Be ready to back up your BS. Trumps small, petty ego battles are very costly to the average American and to lives around the world. Trump does not care. He is incapable of empathy. I have been a pro-America citizen for almost 79 years, but our administration is dead wrong. Canada is the best neighbor we could possibly have, and we have slapped them in the face.
