This is an invasion. You don't just push your way into a country. Anyone entering illegally needs to be immediately deported and never granted citizenship in the future. They show a blatant disrespect for our country and our laws. If they can't respect our laws before they're even here, what's makes anyone think they'll respect them once they're in? To those who say these aren't criminals, I say by entering illegally they made their very first action on US soil breaking the law and committing a crime. Criminals trying to push their way into America en masse, with no jobs and no place to stay, both of which are legal immigration requirements in every country in the world one may wish to immigrate to.

Yes, of course, although Canadian views can be true sometimes. Yet, we cannot defend our own Country as you can. That alone makes us ' nice'. Smaller? We are the second biggest country in the World. Yes, we don’t have as much people here because a lot of the places here are not possible to live in, but we are bigger than United States that by the way is NOT America. Obviously the USA is number one choice. My brother is in robotics. Top of his class, go getter, good connections, etc. $80k canadian a year, moved to america, makes $250k american plus stock options (accounting for the exhange rate that's closer to $60k USD for the job in canada)\n\nCanada is great for mediocrity. America is great for excellence. \n\nIt is better to be bottom in the barrel in canada. It's better to be in the top in the usa. We do have a lot of higher payed unskilled jobs. Tree planting in canada for example can pay $30-60 an hour, whereas in america it's ussually closer to minimum wage (also due to geographical and structural differences within the same job). Whereas all tech and medical jobs will pay drastically higher in the USA.

I think one thing this video fails to mention is to why the system is the way it is. Saying 'broken' doesn't mean anything. It's really this was as an attempt (maybe a poor one) to make things more fair. There are so many people trying to come to America it's almost impossible to make it happen for everyone. And taking in only highly skilled people is also not an answer.

I'm Canadian and worked in Dertoit for almost 10 years, I crossed the border daily working for GM. I've also done work in Louisiana, Indiana and all around Michigan. \nAmerica has some of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. It's a beautiful country and has a ton to offer anyone with an ounce of drive. The variety you have in your economy is amazing, we don't have a lot of choice when we buy stuff, you guys have so much more to choose from, take restaurants for example, I've never seen so many chain restaurants in one place, we have a handful of them. \nFrom what I've seen, there's also a lot of poverty, crime and violence, but that's literally everywhere right now, even here in Canada, we don't prosecute violent crime anymore. The gun issue is probably the biggest problem...I always felt extremely vulnerable out in public, especially driving, because I assumed everyone had a gun on them, I seen so many random guns on people, it just blew my mind. I always had to keep in mind when I was driving not to road-rage...That's how you get shot. The health care industry in America is nothing but a business model designed to bankrupt people. Our system isn't great at all...nothing to boast about. If you have to visit the ER at any hospital, you'd better bring food and water, you'll be there at least 8 hours before you're even seen by a doctor. Our health care is free yes, but we're taxed to death here because of it. I do indeed wish we had a 2-teir health care system, I want the option to pay to get seen soonest. America and Canada have free(ish) speech. We're both being ruled by leftist loonies, but that's all changing in our next respective election cycles. Biden and Trudeau will be shown the door and we can hopefully get back to healthy debate and more conversation in society...Instead of automatically dismissing each other, vitriolic badgering one another and hating each other. We had unity for a brief time, we all saw it, after 9/11 happened. We put our petty crap aside and saw each other as brothers and sisters. That didn't last very long and we've been in a constant state of crisis ever since. The media has driven a huge nail right through society, and takes a blow at every single issue we face, making it Left vs Right...\nIt's unfortunate to say, but it's going to take something truly devastating, possibly on a biblical scale, for us to come together again.

Another important factor is that America employers didn’t ask me when I came here from Canada : do you have any American experience? For them, an experience that can make them money is a good experience. However, when I was in Canada no employers were willing to give me an interview because I immigrated to Canada from China with no Canadian experience. Canadian immigration system might be more transparent and better than the American one, but their job market is not that welcoming

Canadian here - I've lived and worked in NYC and graduated university from Gonzaga in Spokane. I wish the US won the war of 1812 and Canada was part of America. I think Trump is unpleasant but Trudeau is worse. The legal system here sucks. The RCMP are soldiers not police. I'd move to the US in a heartbeat. I like the gun laws there and hunting wild pigs down south would be fun. Maybe I will one day spend more time there.

I think you missed the ball on two points.\n\n1) although Canada has a higher share of current immigrants, 99% of all americans are descended from at least one great grandparent who came from abroad before settling down. America is a nation of immigrants down into its blood, and the current state of affairs is more a reflection of abberation than the norm, even in spite of our history of the Klan and know nothing party.\n\n2) Québec sets its own immigration policy and it is WAAAAAAY stricter, like, they have a french literacy test that a parisian with a PhD in French literature failed, and when this is brought up most Quebecois say this makes sense because *the French* are doing a poor job of preserving frenchness against encroachment from foreign language and culture. Meanwhile L'Acedemie Français is the chief dead horse to beat amongst folks who want to make jokes of linguistic and cultural prescriltivism.

When Canada's immigration policy has led to suppressed salaries and an insanely high cost of living, is it really fair to call America's immigration system the broken one?

8:15 there’s a reason for this. It’s a melting pot in America. Bringing all these different cultures together… but if too many from one country show up, they’ll make a community too large that they don’t need to melt with the population. There are Chinatowns and Little Italys and whole Mexican communities, but ultimately everyone has to interact with everyone else. Allowing 300,000 Indians to get green cards every year and only 1,000 Norwegians would lead to the Norwegians merging well with the country, while the Indians would all move to one or two cities and make entire sections of the cities like small versions of their own country. Which is the last thing we want. Once an immigrant community gets enough power to be a voting block, things are scary, but once it has enough power that they start getting their own representatives and passing laws for the rest of us? Laws the look like laws they had back in their own countries… that led them to run from their countries in the first place? It’s a concern. We want people to adapt to the USA and not try to adapt the USA to them. Over time, the US does change due to the growing voting blocs. But that’s after generations of those immigrant populations getting larger, and their children being born and raised in the country they’ve adapted to. When I see a protest of Muslim immigrants burning pride flags, or Chinese and Spanish-speaking Hispanic immigrants who never bothered to learn English, I see problems with our immigration system. But the kids of the Arab immigrants will be more tolerant, and the Hispanic kids will have grown up in American schools. Most Chinese-American kids might speak some Chinese at home with their parents, but they’re worse at it, and their first language is English. It takes second Generation immigrants to really start meshing with America. But if entire school districts are all Indian, and every store, restaurant, and business in a whole town is Indian, then those kids won’t adapt to America. They won’t get bits of their home culture from their time at home and with their neighbors, while also getting bits of American culture from their classmates and other people around them. Nope. They’ll only be exposed to the first Generation who completely took over the area- IF, we allowed for unfettered immigration from the largest countries. It’s a fact that immigrant communities like to stick together. But if not enough people are in that community that you need to reach out to others around you, it helps expose you to the rest of America… Anyway! There are a ton of shows that indirectly show this phenomena. Fresh Off the Boat. The Sopranos. Even Brooklyn 99. We see as traditional and hard-to-adapt parents have to deal with kids in the next generation who are more American, don’t follow the same customs and traditions as their parents, and overall just left more of their old culture behind. No one is asking that immigrants abandon their cultural ties, but if you come to America, there are things that people need to change and accept if they’re going to live here.

America's system is far better. It prevents one country from overrunning yours via immigration. You could be dropped into Canada and think that you are in India or China. Limiting immigration and increasing birth rates is the only way to maintain your countries identity and not be invaded. US happens to have good birth rates, so no need to allow more immigrants.

Canadas system is miles better then the US's thats for D**n sure. \n\nBut u are missing a major point here. One is to be a citizen to Canada and one is to be a citizen to the US. As a Chinese born person that went through the whole H1B waiting list (one of the worst even) shabang I actually truly disagree that America’s H1 system is broken. It does weed off quite some less competitive candidates so having the money to go to a top school wouldn’t automatically buy you citizenship. If anything, policies regarding family sponsored immigration and low skilled immigrant labor are the ones needs to be rehauled.

One thing I would like to note is that Canada is not welcoming in only highly skilled workers. If you can work at a Tim Horton's you qualify. This has lead to a flood of new workers who HAVE to have a job in order to stay at a time where the existing labour pool is refusing work due to pay lagging far behind inflation for two decades. Those salaries discrepancies you listed are not exclusive to the tech sector, they are economy wide. Often you'll here talk of a labour shortage in Canada, but ask for the number of applicants to jobs and you quickly find out the reason no one accepted is because the full-time job offered requires a part-time job to barely make ends meet. \n\nAnother factor is that housing happens to be the bread and butter of ~40% of our MP's. Hell our Minister of Housing himself owns properties that have appreciated massively due to the lack of supply and high demand. He then goes on national TV and says high immigration will solve the housing crisis despite Canada already having over 4% of our entire labour force already in the construction industries (America is a little over 3%) and the men and women who build our houses being unable to afford the homes they build ($22.07/hr CAD average or ~$16.66 USD. compared to $22.29/hr USD). 14% of our national GDP is housing. 14% of our entire economy is just money changing hands internally with nothing of value made. \n\nThen you have the combo of landlords benefiting from the immigration programs who try and evict the tenants on their properties to replace them with immigrant labour. They then take the cost of rent right out of their salaries. The workers can't quit their jobs because if they don't have a job they are at risk of being deported and also loosing their homes so they end up shacking 8 to an apartment to try and make ends meet. This becomes the standard the rest of the economy has to meet. \n\nIt is a rare sight to see someone who is anti-immigrant in Canada, but the majority of people here understand that immigration is a problem the way it is currently run. You have people who come here hoping for a new life being forced to sleep outside under bridges because while they may have a job they don't have a home and the shelters are already 200% capacity. Tent cities are the norm in any major urban centre now. There are crack dens in Toronto that are the same price as Castles in the UK. And this problem is only going to get worse.

Tyler's reaction to Canadian fears about school shootings throughout this is that this is a big city problem, and if you move to a small town, you'll be safe and not have to worry about it. So, I got curious, and looked up the population of Sandy Hook, home to one of the most famous (feels gross to describe such a tragedy that way) school shootings. It has a population of less than 10,000 people. What is a small town to Tyler, because 10,000 people seems pretty small to me?\n\nAs a Canadian, I was utterly flabbergasted going into a US pawn shop and them just having a gun room. Enough guns to arm a small army. Hunting rifles. Handguns. Even one that looked like some kind of assault rifle. You can get guns in Canada, but at like, a hunting store, with proper licencing. The fact that you could go to a pawn shop and just...browse the guns there is so alien to me. Every country that has tighter gun control has fewer school shootings, and shootings in general. Like, shootings still happen here, but not to the same extent they do in America. American gun culture enables them because they both make guns so readily available, and have a culture that celebrates gun ownership in a way other cultures, like my Canadian culture, do not. I think our last school mass shooting was in the eighties? So, if I lived in the US, I don't think I'd be afraid to send my kid to school, but it would be way more of a concern than it is here, where I don't even consider the possibility of that happening at all.

They are not Mexican. They come via mexico and if one of them shows up at a homeless shelter or gets caught on the street, they are immediately deported. They bring violence, compete with the cartels and sell their drugs. America's open borders destroy mexico as much as America. Most Republicans will still argue that the world isn’t overpopulated, but they don’t seem to consider that many countries aren’t nice enough to live in. So if you take all the people and cram them into the areas that are fit to live in and that aren’t overcome by climate change and corruption, are we overpopulated then? Would you want to live in the middle of Nebraska? There’s plenty of space out there. We have to stop producing more humans. We’ve reached a crisis point. Please consider a childfree lifestyle. It’s okay if one or two generations need to suffer in their older years in order to get things under control. We can’t just continue producing more people to pay the Social Security of the upcoming generations. That’s ridonckulous. (I say that as a 49-year-old who will retire in 13 years.) And we need to legalize all drugs so that the drug cartels in Central and South America will die out and these people can live in peace in their own lands.

I really hope you read these comments Tyler. You are so blinded by the American propaganda machine and I really suggest you at least do some travelling out of country for a prolonged period of time to see how the rest of the world really is. I hope some of these harsher comments at least open your eyes. I am born and raised Canadian who used to spend about a month a year in the states and now I can’t say I’ll go back. The gun violence just in the last few years is sickening. Having bad places to live doesn’t apply to the US anymore, everywhere is bad to live and it’s only a matter of time before the reality comes to YOUR small town. 1. While McDonald's was originally created in the US there is a 2nd version and its 100% Canadian. After the u.s. McDonald's began franchising one of the brothers became so disgusted with the lack of regulation in the US on what is considered 'food' he moved to Canada and relaunched the chain. The federal and state government recommend homes in the city have sewage plumbing BUT it is not required. There are literally houses in the southern states with the toilets flushing right into the front or backyard. 6. Perfectly fine to pay a man more than a woman in the US because a woman isnt a man. 7. And if a woman literally becomes a man by changing 'her' name + physically in appearance via surgery/hormones/whatever she still won't get paid the same as a man because she still not viewed as a man: no gender rights. 8. Where's the healthcare when the US has the highest taxes in the world??? 9. Classist. 10. No regulated education. Literally there is no rules on teaching the students these days are learning absolutely nothing. There's no such thing as regulating education in the US anymore 11. America has mad shootings daily, they are famously the dumbest country on the planet. Democracy is important, but the USA is falling away from this. Two political parties is dangerous too. Americans are in the crapper. Many of us live on the streets. We need to be more like Japan as to border policy, and treat us first. I don’t know why it’s a big deal, many other countries have the same border policy. America isn’t inconsiderate for having them, it’s just the government already doesn’t help us live. They already take our money and force us on streets. If more immigrants came in, none of us would have a home. Economy would skyrocket greatly but in the wrong ways. More crime because I’m sure there are immigrants who really need help, but among them are also the ones who don’t follow laws. 9:30 Actually, Tyler, many children are being shot on a daily basis in the USA, just maybe not in schools. America has over 100 times the numbers of guns deaths for children per capita than Canada. Also your mass shootings are so prevalent that they do not even make the top news in the US anymore, but the rest of the world sees it. I can't even think of the last time we in Canada had a mass school shooting. It does happen, very rarely, about once every 3-4 years, but it is mostly just one on one violence. I think it was 2006 when we last had a mass, indiscriminate shooting in a school.

Yes, American citizens need to be taken care of first before we let any more people into the country, but let's keep thinking about this... Why are so many people trying to escape Venezuela? Could it possibly be the cripplingly sanctions the US has imposed on Venezuela for decades? There is no better example of how sanctions don't work and only make the population of the country suffer and not the leaders. Why are people trying to leave Mexico, which is a country where guns are 100% illegal? If you guessed violence from the drug cartels being one of the main reasons, good job. While I respect the Sikh tradition and culture, if you are in another country, you abide by the rule and laws of that country. If you want to practice and uphold your tradition ABOVE the law of the country you reside in, that I ask you think twice. If you want to flaunt your tradition and culture and feel that such is above the law, you can do so back at the home nation for Sikh culture and tradition and no one will contest it. But as long as you are in America and you are an American, you OBEY the law.

Listened carefully to everything that was commented on and I too was a little surprised by what I heard. Being from southern Ontario actually near Buffalo and I am close to the USA but I am glad to be in Canada. Many of my friends go to Florida for the winter. They state that they will politely listen to the politics but never chime in with their opinion. The american political situation is very much like the religious situation with the Irish and the Northern Irish Catholics vs the Protestants. Your political separation borders on insanity. The current republicans lie through their teeth and keep repeating those lies. Listening to the Irish is equally exhausting. When I travel to the United States I am always glad to be home when the trip is over. While in America, I find most people are wonderful and we are always treated very well. If the Republicans snap out of it and the gun lobby loses their grip on the narrative that everyone needs a gun I think the attitude of Canadians might change. One thing for sure I am very happy that big brother is right next door and we will never have to deal with what the Ukrainian people are going through. Traditionally, one of the big reasons Canadians might consider moving to the states, is for the warmer weather. But, recently it seems that all that warm weather has been moving north to Canada, and some parts of America are now just too friggin hot.

One non-confidence in parliament and our Vice Regent, the Governor General would inform the King and parliament would be closed for a new election. We also have no ridiculous nearly 250-year-old Constitution. Our Consitution is based upon the British North American Act. We can revise it anytime with the Governor General's permission (and the King's). We are a peaceful nation and do not think like Americans. But I'd travel in the North East US. America''s fixation with patriotism is nauseating.

Tyler! I'm sorry, but you're wrong. Guns are now the number one cause of death of American children and absolutely a factor for many Canadians as to why we'd never live there. As a mixed race family, I would fear for my husband's and children's lives on a daily basis. If it isn't in the schools, it's at malls, concerts, shopping centers, Walmart, everywhere!! Not to mention police brutality, specifically toward black men in America. It's a giant nope sandwich for me. Add to that the lack of socialized Healthcare and failing public education system, there's a reason we fly OVER the US and head straight to the southern America's or overseas even for vacations. Nothing about the US seems safe for our family.

One of the techniques used to destroy America

I went to the Atlanta suburbs a few years ago for corporate training (I was working in Canada for a US based company). There were people from all around North America there, who did not know each other before meeting there. What shocked me the most, even more than the constant subtext racism between people, in the news, everywhere basically, more than the senseless political debates where people take for one side just because, no matter the truth and lies, the arguments or even the crimes comitted by one side or the other, is the fact that 2 americans, never having met before, were talking about their prefered gun makes and ammunition types literally 5 minutes after having met the first time. THAT is unhealthy! THAT is scary! I just went with the flow and accepted it, and I kept noticing it for the 2 weeks I was there. In Canada, we talk about the weather to break the ice with strangers. In the states, you talk about guns. That is what we call gun culture and that, more than anything else, is why I'll never live in the US.\nOh, and just to make it worse, when I tried to explain why we did not feel like we had to have guns on our person in Canada, not a single American I talked to could ever begin to understand. Not centering your life around the fact that you can or cannot have a gun is just impossible for Americans, it seems.

I don't know if you know this Tyler but America just hit its final hour, 250 years is the expiration date for empires and your United States just hit that mark. Plus have you seen the way Canadians have socialized systems that give us a high quality of life. Our current government is still capitalist but I currently can't be kicked out by federal mandate if I keep paying rent, the liberals have put this provision in place because the housing market is out of control. The liberals under Trudeau also helped the first nation's people more than ANY priminister to date and he dealt with the mass graves the best a light skinned priminister could. He's facing the same issues Biden is facing, the Koch brothers and Peter Thiel are pumping out propogada like transphobia, climate change, trickle down economics and poisoning the left by buying up publications with there infinite dark money.\n\n56 billion was spent last year on influence alone, That means 100,000 Americans saving ALL their money for 10 years would just match Koch influence powers they have in 1 year. \n\nYour housing market was destroyed by the Koch Brothers, they destroyed our water supplies up north fracking bitumen out of the land. \n\nThen when Koch wanted to leave the oil sands they made a propoganda piece pointing the blame at Trudeau.\n\nSo ya, no one wants to go to he country Koch brothers already control 100% were being fought over by Peter thiel who isn't any better.

Never lived in the US but have visited a lot. I do have family in Washington state and I really enjoy visiting that part of the country. I didn't like New York and California only because of the sheer amount of people. Way too many people for my liking. Walking down the streets I felt like I was being shoulder checked with every step. In some smaller areas, absolutely loved the people and communities. Very friendly, and I find Americans to be very patriotic which I absolutely love! Health care and gun violence would be enough to keep me away though. Now in 2023, I find America becoming political polarized. Just watching the news is enough to raise my blood pressure (which I don't even have). If I got a chance to leave the snow behind, I think I would choose overseas on a island somewhere. Also at the age where I want peace and quiet. Raised kids already so more on the downlow and quite beach life. Thanks for your videos Tyler you are definitely one of my favorite Americans. I’ve lived in both countries in small towns and big cities Hell No Thanks and I would have great insurance. I remember in preschool having to do active shooter drills in the US nope. If you look at stats on gun violence and mass shootings it’s crazy. The US leads by an astronomical amount. Tyler says the US has more access to guns and although I have no idea where to get a gun I think people could get one pretty easily but we don’t need them. I can walk in the dark and not fear for my safety and Canada has only had 3 mass shootings in its whole history. Of course medical, dental, education, women’s rights, maternity and paternity leave, unemployment, help when Covid lockdown happened, clean free water in homes, housing, … on and on. America the “free” is antiquated and no longer true. Education has slid to 30 something in world rankings and Canada is in the top 3. Cost of education, daycare, child benefits ect. I could write paragraphs. Also it’s hilarious when you hear American say oh we’ll just moved to Canada like they can just drive here and settle down?!?there’s a border and you can’t illegally just move here and get a job. If you’ve lived in both countries you’d know the difference. I don’t even want to vacation there anymore since about 10 years or so ago.

Health care is a huge one. Most western nations have remarkable healthcare systems in place. The U.S. healthcare will bankrupt any individual or family in a crisis situation. The second is the amount of violence in America. The U.S. is THE most violent first world nation on the planet. There are more mass shootings pet month than some nations have seen in their entire history. Having armed guards at schools or teaching children how to duck and weave when escaping a school shooter is not normal under any circumstances. There is a compliance in the U.S. with regards to day-to-day violence and even the NRA takes no responsibility. If you were a typical American your country would be one of the best places in the free world instead of one of the worst.

America is a beautiful country to look at, and I'm sure there are lots of beautiful people, but the arrogance of some of them is mind blowing. I recently watched the news footage of 911, I cried all the way through that, first out of compassion and next out of frustration. When people were jumping out of those towers, George Dubya was making a statement that terrorism would not stand in America. What did he think was standing in his face. The terrorists won that day. Then when they got Bin Laden He stands up and says we got him . Big deal you got one person , when there are dozens to take his place. No mention of other countries that helped them. , they have taken full credit for every war that ever happened. They wonder why the rest of the world hates that country. The sad thing is that 911 didn't teach them a thing. They brag about how they lost 3000 people and other countries only lost a few to terrorism. How sad that they think that way. You had a great president in Obama, but you have that 2 term rule and have been going downhill ever since. And our Canada's Prime minister is certainly nothing to be proud of. Politically he's no threat to anybody, but his own country. Mostly he is an immoral threat to his own country. But that's another vent for another day. I still pray every day for the world and that includes America, but I can't imagine what it will take to break them of that arrogance.

I think it's the fact that places that you even consider safe in the states, turn out not to be safe. Uvalde, Tx, Newtown, CT & Parkland, Fl, are all 35,000 or less population. Would you have expected school shootings in either of those places? Uvalde has a crime rate lower than the national average. Newtown has one of the lowest crime rates in all of america. Parkland Florida is lower than the national average. So... ??
