Immigrated from Haiti to Montreal in 2001, I was 22. it was impossible getting work in what I studied but worked odd jobs for a few months. Then I went back to university and got a Masters. Husband went back to university as well and got an accounting degree. I have to say the diplomas worked. We ended getting good jobs in our field and now have very good careers. We have some Haitians friends and after years of effort they are all doing relatively well here in Montreal. So can’t complain work wise as long as you are patient, do what you have to do you should make it. For me the biggest drawbacks are the harsh climate and the difficulty to make Canadian friends but plenty of immigrants to befriend so. Also as an immigrant you need to adapt and a lot of people cannot adapt to a new country and want to have what they had back home here that is not realistic. Immigration is not for everyone. But no regrets.

Watched a lot of your videos. One thing which have bothered me is that you always have some objection or problem with the Pakistani System which you experienced and yet you chose to RUN away from it, instead of fighting. There are a lot many people who are not as power holder as you were but they fight and take their life share from the same system in Pakistan.\n\nI do appreciate your videos where you are guiding people about different things in Canada, but please stop criticizing Pakistan in your each and every video for every tits and bits you have been through. There is always a positivity which is there in every sphere of life in Pakistan. Yes I do admit that, we have issues in Pakistan but you know it and all of us know it that all these looters and corrupt people are mostly settled in Canada, US & Europe. Why don't you identify them and send their info to the authorities you know in Pakistan.\n\nYour one trip to Pakistan after PM IK in power which didn't bore fruit as you desired made you critic of him is not justified totally as there are other priorities which he have for People of Pakistan. You can always send your suggestions to PM IK through his office.\n\nIn last, i would again like to remind you that it is Pakistan that gave you identity and fame, be it in Customs or Film making and there are a lot of people still in Pakistan who admired what you did but you disappointed all of them and chose to run away to your new home in Canada

Islamophobia, racism, discrimination, is in Canada, unless otherwise you owner operator mean you own your business , you will see good weather if its summer if its winter just watch out, lol, a lot of struggle long hour work timings if you want trade, or should be PhD or doctor or big degree, really its not easy life here to as usual anywhere else, like when i go back in Pakistan i see more rich people in Pakistan, big houses, but we have to work hard in Canada, ready for surprises in Canada, but its organized country, they got no feelings for you u got to wok here, no-one can help you here you on your own.

Here in the US, we have a lot of wealthy Canadian, Arabs, Asians come to US for health care, better quality care and high technology

I think u just speead negativity a lot about work in the minds of people ..yahh it's true that u have to do a lot of hard work to live in canada or other countries but u no there r some cities where u cn get easily work from initially and u cn maintain healthy lifestyle I'm not pointing about ur struggle i no we have to face ups and downs when we 1st tym been to anywhere even in india too but i personally think tht u r just spreading negativity .....even some of my relatives and frnds r in canada nd thy just do a part tym job appx 5 hrs in a day and thy live happily

Thanks a lot for the detailed information. I have a doubt regarding the ECA and IELTS of your secondary applicant/spouse. Is it mandatory that your spouse does ECA and IELTS or shall we do it only to increase the CRS score.

I know it won’t be easy but, Toronto has a lot of resources for immigrants and even undocumented immigrants. I worked for a shelter and although it was the only one that takes undocumented families, you learn there are resources out there. \nIt’s about aligning yourself with the right community support Center, finding the people who will fight for you. There are so many people here who welcome and want to help all types of immigrants. No matter your background.\nThe people who work helping these communities they are ruthless in their fight for citizenship, or at least finding you a job and home, they will guide you through the system. Social workers, ones in community resource centres, not government centres, will be your best friend. They know where the red tape is and the resources available to you. \nYou could even go to a specific shelter to t all out your options and where you could go to get help.\nI understand this is not ideal. \nBut, if you want to be here, your best friends are non-profits, finding a center that aligns with your story, your background, because they will fight for you. We have people here from every country and resource centres geared towards your own language, religion etc.\nAnother big way to set yourself up for success. Churches, rich churches to be specific. \nMy mom works in a very rich church and it helps them feel better about themselves helping people, you could be nice enough to alleviate their guilt through their wallets, and connections. Under the table work, shelter, space for your family, set you up, they might even have the lawyers you need pro Bono in those rich churches. Church shopping, do not be above it if you don’t have resources. You don’t just get help, you build a community and support system through a common bond, the church. \nI know these aren’t revolutionary tips, but without specifics of your background it’s hard (for me specifically) to give specific advice online as to what services could be provided for you.\nIt’s kind of like a doctors appointment. You need background info to diagnose the resources for you and how to access that help.

I've watched a lot of videos regarding the EE step by step process and I have to admit that this one is the best! A lot of my friends come to me whenever they need some extra cash because i always have something saved up,, my black friends never payed me back,, all my other friends did... so i stopped letting my black friends borrow money... im mexican, my people love getting drunk and typically take their job less seriously than others,, also we tend to be really loud and obnoxious.. ive worked with alot of indian people, and most of them never showered... stereotypes exist for a reason, but until you are proven to fall into these stereotypes you shouldn't be judged by them because there definitely are exceptions.

We have to stop pointing at races, colors, nationality, religion for reparation ... we need to focus on the real issue ... you have big corporation getting out of control, billionaire now becoming trillionaire. That is crazy knowing that a lot of us are stuck at the bottom and real estate is getting unattainable, some part of the world people don't even get clean water ... wealth distribution is terrible and is getting worst every months. There's a need for a reset button, it's okay that you make money and that some go to your kids but there should be a limit of how much wealth one group of people should be able to get. Government aren't the solution because people in power there are put in place by the same group that need to be corrected ...

I don't think Canada ever lied. Unlike the USA Canada does not play around. We welcome legal immigrants and bona fide refugees. Unfortunately there is a lot of greyness in what it means to be a bona fide refugee. Perhaps too many people think it means one thing. \n.\nMy heart goes out to all these foreigners wanting to make a life here in Canada - after all I am one of them. I'm a white older woman who refuses to dress up on my days off from work. I get followed around stores. I am afraid to leave a store for fear of being followed. I always have to show my receipts. I have been yelled at by young males of any background because I refuse to speed while driving. I was called a crazy drunk while crossing a parking lot. People seem to be being raised with very poor manners and a lack of respect for others. There is racism in every race or racial biases in every race. We all need to remember we are all actually the same race. It's called the human race. Remember we are all human beings and deserve to all be treated as such.\nWe are all human beings with plenty to offer each other. A new friendship, a wonderful meal, smiles, wisdom, wonderful stories, knowledge etc. I know I am racially profiled by others as well and wish it just wasn't there. When people get beyond the boundary of a person's color you will face the reality of what this is all about in the first place. Isn't it funny when we look at things like professional sports. The music industry a host of other platforms you see the black community excelling. Now you do not see a huge rebellion taking place from any other nation that is not represented in those areas. So what is really up with these other areas you continue to bring up. All those other problems are not being escaped from because of a persons color. If you believe you have a problem in those areas. Then continue to find solutions. Stop trying to single out the fact that you are the only race that has life issues. When you know every Canadian daily has challenges it faces. The thing about it all is simply this fact. What are you going to do about it ? Stop putting up walls that tell others you are always a victim. If that were the case your basketball courts, baseball stadiums, football fields would not be filled. We all know that is not happening. And I certainly do not believe that all blacks live in this sort of arena. In fact I have a lot of friends who are black. All I see everyday is a beautiful person behind that face. The other thing is, that there are millions of Canadians every year out getting tans when the sun hits. That alone should speak volumes.

I love Canada, I have a lot of family in Toronto and have been there many times as well as Montreal and Vancouver. Tbh, there’s no place like the US. We have all types of climates and geography. From deserts, tundra, rain forests, etc. We have some of the best mountains, beaches, and cities on Earth. If you like cold weather, stay up north like Chicago or Boston. If you like normal every season weather, we have many places for that. Mediterranean weather in California, and tropical weather in Florida. We have it all. We have the best sports fans in the world and every sport is accepted here. You can even see so many people play Rugby and Cricket in many parks. Many great universities throughout the country. Best attractions in the world for all age groups. High pay and decent cost of living in most part of the country. Supercar culture is the best in the world especially in SoCal (my personal favorite), TV and entertainment, and the list keeps going on and on. I know that the government in this country is pretty messed up, but hopefully that will be resolved in the future. I also respect the safety that Canada has, but have to admit that Toronto is getting pretty dangerous in some areas. Plus the History of America is amazing. I really do love Canada and would live there if I had to move out of the country, but there’s no place like the USA. ??❤️??

Canada has always seemed to me to be a lot of the same of what's here in America. And from the pictures I've seeing it looks a lot like any town in the US. Make their big cities look similar to the big cities we have here in America.

I know this seems weird, coming from Europe, but I absolutely love North American food culture (Mexico, Canada and U.S.A). Firstly they all drink A LOT of cola and although their food is unhealthy it just taste soooo good? I’ve only eaten American food outside of America and I have never been there, but I hope I can come someday and try some of the fast food restauarants we don’t have here like Wendys or Taco Bell.

I totally agree with you Lloyd Douglas and his column black in Canada. I find it to be swept under the carpet as far as racism is concerned, they smile in front of you but behind you they Stab you in the back .well the Americans is right up front I can work with you but I won’t socialize with you, at least you’re truthful.\n\n I find Canadians to be very two face , Hidden they true feeling and pretend a lot . I took my daughters to my home country 6 years ago. My children took after their Dad's side, not my looks of ethnicity. I remember we were followed a lot in stores. We would make it very obvious to them that we were on to them. Would then walk out and take our business elsewhere. Those poor store owners have no idea how much money they lost because of bad behaviour!

Im surprised Canada allowed this to get this far. Anyone covering themselves up is very suspicious. Muslims need to stop pushing their fake religion into mainstream. U don’t see Christians wearing robes to work. The Muslim fake religion is based on nothing real, my Muslim friend said. Jesus was a real person. There is no real basis to their religion. If I see someone covered up, I do not shop at that store for fear of a shootout. Any lunatic can be under scarves in banks, Churches or schools. Most people have a racial bias. It happens naturally. That’s why we have to educate ourselves.\n\nIf you had the same race commit a crime over and over, your brain naturally tries to associate the bad people with that race.\n\nWe had all the pictures of previous shoplifters at the store. The majority of shoplifters were from 1 race. A lot of workers can’t distinguish different people of the same race. I'm from the UK and when I go into Manchester town centre it really annoys me because we do have a lot of asylum seekers here. I don't see why our country or any other countries should take them. I don't have a problem with you if your born in the U.k & your Asian, Muslim, black you we're born here your one of us.

It is NOT just race. Depending on the bag or backpack you carry, you get followed, which I hate. And I'm not black. My mother also gets followed everywhere in every Macy's store. It drives me crazy. It's really annoying, because I think it's because my mom has big purses and I usually have my art backpack. \n\nWhen I'm in a different town, I get followed in Walmart all the time. If I forget my shopping bags, I will empty my backpack so I can use that to put all my items in at the end of the purchase.\n\n In Best Buy, I'm lucky to get anyone to help me at all!!! I have to hunt someone down, and most of the time, they don't know anything anyway. Target: I have a hard time finding anyone to help me as well. I haven't really done a social experiment, but sometimes I just have my shopping bags and fill them as I shop and I won't carry a purse.\n\nLocally, I don't get followed because my family and me are known in that town. We know a lot of people and my face is everywhere. I never get followed. But out of town Walmart, I get followed in certain stores. It irritates me immensely, especially since I buy a lot of make up and the make up department is cramped they way they block the end of the aisles. It makes it really hard to turn your cart around when other people are in the same aisle. Then they close the make up aisle even though they have tons of cameras all over!! \n\nOverall, I don't know WHERE these backhanded compliments are coming from. I normally hear stuff about my weight. Nothing about race ever. Nor do I ever hear others talking about race. Weight seems to be the hot topic always.\n\nI also find it weird that the one guy feels like he needs to apologize!

I see my son get treated very bad .\nBusiness people at the bank\n treated him horrible and he was trying to get help.\n\n basically jerked him around and I'd like to . NOT let my son get my medicine and it's hard for me to walk around and I called him up and ask why \nand then I did get my medicine and I never did have no more trouble out them after my doctor ball to out they against my son but people listen at this we're not African American where are we we are not I seen the kind of thing two we was up to the courthouse and these police officers was looking at me and laughing I'm an overweight woman and overweight people gets treated bad we get laughed at we get made fun of and every way I got jerked around at the courthouse in Anderson they really treated me horribly and I think it was because I was overweight and they was very rude and nasty to every customer to come in and I don't know why to me it always pointed out and all I'll be pointed out so it's not only African Americans but it's people like myself that has a weight problem I I am A obesity white woman

Dear , you don't have to feel sorry. I am sure your intention is very very good. Seems you are good human beings. I lives in UK for 18 years. In beginning I struggled a lot. During past 18 years I have travelled lots in various countries and seen so many settled people who are origin from respective country or are settled from ages . But you also note that thay had gone through with same as beginner going through, or might b lot . I like your post, and doesn't notice any ego or proud in that . I like that . But what I mean to say is everyone from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka or Bangladesh , before come in English country or in any country, are starting very big dreams and after step into new country they don't accept positive things and blames only those countries where thay have gone for higher education or for earning money. Still they stay there and says here is blot like india , dongle come here , or we have to do this type of job .They don't have servants there, they have to wash their clothes themselves, cook themselves and clean house themselves . That's why thay are saying bad words for that country and still they want path of permanent residence of that country. I am not against of india but if you are staying in English country for 6 months, I request you please make video for how government works for their people, how smooth you can run your business without giving bribe to government officers , how police officers are doing their job and how pure is system . And please all these compare in India and suggest life is easy there or not . I love my country and during my 18 years in UK , I came back to India with my family to settle down the rest life but because of some government officers ( on each step asking bribe for business) , and not getting support from government, decided to go back to UK .I mean to say in English country there is value for poor person or for rich person. In india government hospital are free but look how they treat the patient. Please compair each sector and make video. If you do this would be very grateful. I remember when my family immigrated here over 15+ years ago and my brother was only 1 years old. 2 weeks after coming here he slipped on the floor and cut open his forehead on the hinges of our door and he was bleeding everywhere (he later had to get 6 stitches to fix it), my father was out working and we didn't know how to contact the police or hospital because we didn't have a home phone yet. We used our neighbors and the ambulance came and I strictly remember that because we didn't have our health cards yet they wouldn't start work even though my father said he will pay when he gets there. I remember my mother and I feeling helpless while my 1 year old brother was bleeding out (the hospital staff tried to stop the bleeding with cotton ball and bandage) and I distinctly remember that they did not start helping my brother even WHILE my father was paying but only started work after the bill was completed. Even though my family felt helpless at that time and we felt it was unfair, we never blamed Canada because it was their policy and they have every right to follow protocols. So it makes me angry to see people who walked into our country illegally getting far better treatment than my family ever got even though it might not be anything as life threatening as ours was. It makes me angry that our hard earned tax dollars are used to help people who have no motivation to help the country that gave them asylum during war.. It's actually the opposite as a lot of these families call their free housing "disgusting" and compare it to "living like a slave". I'm angry because little girls at my brothers own school are getting shoved and assaulted by refugee boys as young as 6-7 and are let off with a simple "don't do that again" and a meeting with the parents. This is not the Canada my family came to love and call home so I can't imagine the hardships of Canadians who are living here for 3, 4, 5+ generations 😔😔

Not enough resources to go after illegals?. There are hundreds of thousands of Cdns looking for work including retirees with computer skills, smart with tons of experience.. can go after these ...not only Chinese but others as well and we speak the languages. Haha. I see a lot of ignorance in this comment section. We treat immigrants and asylum seekers with a little more respect than the United States. It's not perfect but I rather these people have a place to stay while they are processed then locked in cages. I rather get more tax payers in the long run. Most immigrants and refugees pay more tax and work harder then Canadian born citizens.

There is nothing in the Quran about covering your face/head. That stuff is found in the Hadith. And Muslims pick and choose which Hadith they follow (even when they are found in the same books). For example, they ignore the Hadiths that talk about the FIRST version of Islam, called the Satanic Verses (Muhammad recanted that version of Islam, saying that the first angel he talked to told him the wrong things because it was actually a devil disguised as an angel). If they accept that Hadith, they have to accept that if Muhammad could be tricked by a devil the first time, what is to say that he couldn't be tricked a second time? Also, the Quran was not written down until much later, it was memorized by certain people. After a major battle a lot of those people were killed, so they had all of the remaining people write it down and there were many discrepancies (not just linguistic problems, but actual ideas that were completely different). The person in charge of compiling the versions burned all of the copies after he created one Quran. And since Muhammad was the last prophet and God only talks to prophets according to Islam, there is no way he could have had divine direction to know which to keep and which verses to scrap. There are entire books missing (such as the books that were eaten by a goat). \nNow that we have access to the Hadiths (they weren't translated to English until the 21st century) we are finding out a lot more about the history of Islam, and Muslims don't like it.

The fact that the women that think that they have a choice in wearing the niqab is sad. They don't. They've been brainwashed and there is a lot of social pressure from the Muslim community to wear them. \nPrior to the 80's, women actually had rights in the Middle East. From what I heard coming from other source .Also when I see them at food banks taking home more than $150.00 in groceries from just 1 food bank they goto 9 amonth .their cell phones are top of the line .Clothes and shoes brand name only .Gold jewllery ladys purses $300.00 and up .And they all have cars from 40 thousand and up . One place i never see them is value village .How do they do iit ?I had 2 kids and on welfare a few years back and I had a hard time trying to get some things that we badly needed and could not afford and things were a lot cheaper .The most I ever spent at no frills been on assistance was $75.00 for the whole month .6 years ago and no cell phone gold. or cars .So how these people do it ?oh and by the way I go ti no frills once a week .Those same refugees are there every thursday spending $500.00. on goceries and none of them work .Some time neighbours talk and thats how things are know .Our government is a big lier .We the tax payers are paying for all of these Once a refugee of this country one canot be sent back or deported so if this refugee never finds a job you the tax payer and I will pay for his or her assistance and maybe for a life time .like in the case of gypsies refugees they are all on assistance go to all the food banks rob the community of their belongins their cars items from stores donations in front of churches and stores they dress the best also spend hundreds of dollars on food they shop for clothes at the mall and we the tax payer brake our backs 6 days a week 10 hours a day like me and I cant afford even half of what these people can .So even if they become criminals we have to support them .Some refugee law and rights should be changed to ensure that tax payers are not been taking advantage of .

Canada has done extremely well for Immigrants, and we spend a lot of money on making sure we get hard working decent citizens.. We've recently made it easier for people to immigrate here. We welcome it. But it does have to be done legally. And yes, I agree with everyone else here. 15 years in English countries, and doesn't speak it himself is disgusting. I bet he'd learn the word food fast if he was starving. Also, those kids need to be in school. I hope he's not hiding them too cause they'll never learn English then.

I live in Canada and I can tell you a lot of people here don't like it. Would you like it to happen in your home country? Millions of people from different cultures come in and change the culture of your country? We will have no white majority countries soon. You will always be able to go back and experience your culture. It is only western countries that are expected to dilute their land.

growing up in canada, i felt left out in the blk community b/c i am a 5th generation blk cdn on mom's side and 3rd on my dad's - when other black ppl not canadian born met me - i tell them i'm cdn, but i always used to get the question - where are you really from - they were looking for me to say the islands - when i told them my paternal grandma was born in 1901 in canada - that's when the questions stopped. i've been told that b/c i wasn't from the islands, i had no culture in college, but a mbr of the black student society put him in his place i heard he got into a lot of trouble. i was asked what do we eat as in food as canadians what kind of music do we listen to - at our blk canadian weddings, the only carribean song played was hot hot hot by arrow - we played straight up r and b and motown. i hv been rejected by other blk men b/c i'm not west indian enough...it was hurtful. even with 'friends' they made of my cdn heritage but i used to think, why are you making fun of me knowing that my family and ancestors were in canada first - they were 1st generation - i live in the usa now and i'm with an african american man - he has never treated me as if i were different and he loves going w/me to canada. my parents told me it was jealousy on those ppl's parts - one guy i used to be friends with in college, when i went to his house, his mom was from the islands, when she met me - she said, 'you cdn ppl are loud' and that did it for me - i didn't date her son but when he met my parents, they never said any of that crap to him. in the usa, the african americans don't treat differently at all - my ex mom in law thought we were american but decided to live in canada - b/c she was surprised that blacks do live in canada. her other daughter in law's family were from the islands - but she gravitated more to my family and felt comfortable around them more than her family and this ex sis in law would brag about the islands this and that and she would make comments about my looks being skinny and such but it was jealousy - i didn't care much for her b/c she was very insecure. i felt once again, i was a young girl in college again - being around island ppl....i would love to meet drake and ask him did he feel left out and isolated because he wasn't from the islands - he makes me very proud being a blk canadian - his dad is african american and his mom is jewish. i still hv dealt w/racism not much with wht ppl, but with my own ppl - which is quite sad and on top of it-colorism, that also played a part from my family - being called pygmy, chocolate dip, nappy hair - it hurt but these so called relatives, they aren't all that anymore, they had hard lives as children...when ppl see something in you that is special and they don't have, that's when their ugliness shows -

No it’s not easy to come to Canada - you have to go through hoops. That’s a misconception. There aren’t a lot of illegals here which says a lot. We do love immigrants but you do have qualify for refugee status. We do have rules!
