Trudeau is extremely impressive in government actions and in communicating as simply as possible to the people of USA, to explain what is happening and to implore that they pressurise their rotten Trump government. This is an attack on a very friendly government with 25% tariffs on everything but just 10% on China?? This is an attack to try to destabilise Canada to help in taking the country over. It won't work and everyone will suffer or lose.

1/2: Myself and the saner half of the US that read, understood, and voted against Proj 2025 understands why they need to levy retaliatory tariffs especially as a Michigander who's lived less than 4 hours from Canada all her life, who has family in Quebec and Ontario, and is a job-seeking policy professional and international trade nerd who now cannot in good faith seek a job in the federal government. We have been looking and still do look to Canada as a model quite a bit and love Canada and Canadians to pieces. We Michiganders especially in the central and eastern UP and Detroit and Ann Arbor area are friends, coworkers, and family of Canadians. Some are even dual citizens. It is sad that it's come to this. \n\n2/2: I still personally just can't wrap my head around how a trade deal Trump put together himself and called the best (the USMCA in question) is all of a sudden so bad. Logic doesn't work with these types of people... I really want **someone!!** to ask him/ admin officials about the USMCA **to their face** and see what they say because I am so upset by this nonsensical and corrupt administration.

Trump is completely unreasonable. There is no sense dealing with him, period. If it is going to be 25% or even 50% with reciprocal tariffs, we simply DO NOT import American goods into Canada (if our retailers don't order them, there is nothing they can do) and if we export, the consumer is paying those tariffs and we continue to manufacture. I honestly think that is the best, maybe the only, solution. If tariffed countries stop buying American goods, maybe Trumputin will reconsider. And if he doesn't, he doesn't. He isn't known for his brain power.

These tariffs are not because of trade imbalance, fentanyl and other excuses. It's about destroying alliances that were built and enhanced for decades. Only Russia will benefit from this and add many around the world knew all along, Trump and his cronies and doing Russia's bidding.

Being an American I am behind Canada and feel these Tariffs are uncalled for and will do nothing to help our ever growing Inflation! It is Trump, and the problem is the rest of our Government (Congress and Judiciary) are spineless and won't stand against him. Trump is not doing anything for us but HURT us. I call for Trump's IMPEACHMENT and taken out of Office!!

We all know it was never about DRUGS and Illegal immigrants anyone with a brain should know it was always about the MONEY, ITS ALWAYS ABOUT THE MONEY. Trump should of just told them honestly, no more FREE period instead of making these countries put resources at the border. Trump play a game to get 2 for 1 by making them secure the borders and making them pay tariffs all at the cost of the American people if Americans do stuffer. But I do again with the tariffs everyone should pay considering that all the factories run to these foreign countries for cheaper labor, and Americans are your biggest buyers. Any country who wants FREE should be ashamed of themselves. Maybe Canada should be free US and Canada had a good relationship. But Mexico and China NOT at all.

These tariffs had initially been deferred to April. The reason Trump decided to put them in so abruptly is in retaliation to Trudeau doubling down on support fir Ukraine. This is so annoying. Most Canadians don't want our tax dollars going to Ukraine either.

Netherlands here: Trump HAS to impose tariffs because he promised it a zillion times during his campaign. As a major narcissist he cannot afford to say that he made a mistake, and therefor: tariffs. I predict however that this period will not last very long. Only as long as necessary to make it possible for Trump to say that they didn't work out as planned because of some reason.

The only reason Trump set tariffs on Canada is because he would look like a racist if he only did it to Mexico. I have a feeling soon Trump will lift the tariffs on Canada citing that Canada has complied with his requests. He will keep the tariffs on Mexico though.

Canada and America should work together. Trudeau is the only one talking about a trade war. Think about that... Trump imposed reciprocal tariffs on many countries who later came to the Whitehouse and invested billions to bring business here. Canada has enjoyed the American gravy train for long enough. As an American and a Trump supporter, I agree with these tariffs, but only equal to the tariffs other countries charge the United States on our imports. I do not agree with imposing this on our brothers and sisters to the north. I’m speaking of the good people of Canada. I have traveled to Canada and crossing the border was just like crossing into another state. Yes, there was a border gate which there should be, but I had absolutely no problem whatsoever. I hope our government can work this out very quickly and stop this foolishness. But to countries like China and Europe the United States should charge a reciprocal tariff as to what you charge us on our import. It’s only fair. Why are we paying an exuberant tariff for our goods entering your country and you expect to pay nothing with your goods entering ours. Every single country has huge tariffs against our country. All Trump wants is for them to pay us the same we pay them. Why any taxpayer would be upset is against it is beyond me. Canada's $63 billion trade imbalance is a bigger issue. your telling trump the last time he was in the white house you would be spending 2% of your GDP on the military by 2024.
