Housing is very cheap for those that bought and/or rented and stayed 15+ years ago. Rent controls keep rents cheap (for them) and people in place as they do not want to move and take a higher rent and/or higher mortgage payment. Most of these problems happens because of systemic questions in all the country around the world, citys planning for cars, real estate market completely dominated for super riches and Great fortunes operating without any kind of control. Honestly it sucks for Canada.. I mean this country has probably everything any country could wish for. From surface to ressources to access on both side to the two main oceans, having a border with the first world power (it can be a problem but a good thing as well) and while climate isn't always the best, it should he a paradise living there.\nAs a French with what I believe is the best and most generous medical service in the world, to think that Canada spends MORE than us and have it a lot worse is crazy.. How did they manage that? Lack of housing and increased cost of living that is exceeding income growth seems to be a problem in many first world countries. In Canada we need to cool immigration until we have caught up with the housing needs of the people already here so its a good thing that people don't want to come here.
