There is bias in the experiments having the presumption of being treated differently. I did a test going into different stores of the same name and I was treated differently. I also was treated differently by women compared to men. Younger individuals compared to older and depending on the section of store. I never look around to see if someone is around me and when I did start looking, people were there. Could it be we are looking for flaws in people? Society today is being taught skin color, gender and ethnicity are THE reasons you get attention from someone else. There are extremely rude and immorally questionable people in this world, yes. Thank goodness they are the few.\n\nWe cannot give them recognition by building societal rules around their behaviors. Ignore them and they will fade away.

Lol this expo is something! If you experience racial profiling, SUE THEM all! There is nothing sweeter than revenge! Make money off of other people's ignorance to make them pay for making you feel uncomfortable. :) As a black woman I never got followed around but then again I have an athletic build so I only wish to see someone behave so promoter and stupidly around me. Racism is more in the open now, I am a senior and really do not know what words they use to discriminate these days, however my husband and I were walking in Walmart one day, then in between the aisles a disabled youth was walking with his mother and was coming towards us, then he said look, look a cockroach and pointed at us. My husband looked at me and I looked at him, no one else around,we realized he was calling us cockroach, needless to say, we thought hmmm, that person could hardly walk and he is calling us cockroach. We walked out of the store totally shocked. I was later told young people are getting their info from the dark web. We called it ignorance and left it that.

I am from the US and am ashamed at my country’s racism. My family has always taught me as a very very young child that my country was new and made up of people of every country...a melting pot. As my parents taught me I also taught my daughter. It wasn’t until she reached high school that racism was really addressed at my home. In her sophomore year she came home extremely distressed over a discussion at her lunch table. Mind you she had been with the same group of girls since kindergarten. The subject came up about a new girl in school, from another country... Africa. She was so distressed about the conversation before the end of day she spoke to a teacher about it...her math and track coach. I was incredibly proud of her! To this day I can’t thank my parents enough for instilling in me what I needed to live free. To this day my daughter 17 years later has the pleasure of that young girl from Africa as a part of her extended family. We know what we are taught and ignorance has no place in or society today. I also grew up in Chester, PA where Dr Martin Luther King Went to school or a time, my parents were so proud of that.

I used to feel angry,when ignored by shop assistants,for whitees ,but I studied things closely,and found that whites dress up .....properly most of the time ,when going to these stores,and shabby looking white people dont get treated,better than blacks......so it gets down to the selfish silliness of the employee....as to who will actually buy their wares,and ensure their pay. Whites generally have a better earning power,so the incentives are aimed at them.

It is sad that in 2020 we have ignorant people who judge you based on your skin color or accent. This form of racism exists all over the world. Let's work on making the offenders accountable

California is the same thing, people alway think diversity you don’t think that but I got racism more often in California then in other places. From schools to work places, parks to walking on the streets. I just ignored them. Some people are just plain cruel and mean. They subconsciously do that.

There are still so many ignorant people who don’t understand the day to day struggles of being a person of color. It’s shameful and DISGUSTING. They literally disgust me, lollll

The first time i travelled across Canada on a road trip, heading west, going town to town along the TransCanada Hiway, i choose a black friend to accompany me. I choose him because he was really easy to get along with and i knew he was an auto mechanics enthusiast, which, as it turned out came in handy on the trip. We were on the road for a few months. I grew up in a city in a little multicultural bubble of liberalism and was taught as a child not to judge others based on skin colour or sex; to be respectful towards people of all ilks and ethnicities. The thing is, i was young enough to not really realize that i was in a bubble. As we travelled though parts of Saskatchewan and Alberta, where there are few to no blacks in many towns, i began to realize that Canada is quite racist in the outback and little towns mid country. I was surprised and actually angered by it. My friend took it in stride however. For example, i was meeting people, getting invited home for dinner and meet the wife and kids sort of thing, and my friend couldn't even get a conversation going with most people, they just totally ignored him and gave him a wide berth. I know underlying all of that is just the fear of an unknown quantity and the fact that a lot of Canadians watch American news sometimes which tends to be chock full of black in gang wars, shooting each other and committing violent crime so they get a false view of black culture because the news at that time rarely showed blacks unless they were committing a crime.

North Americans are in general the most ignorant racist people i have ever encounter.Canadians are racist by default because this is their nature i prefere the Brits.

Me being an international student in Montreal some times feel the opposite way people don’t follow me they actually pretend to ignore and talk less bcuz I don’t know French and and I m a brown beard guy lollllll.....but I never mind ...........though 90 percent of Canadians are really polite people at least that I could say after 10 months in this city

I understand both sides, my heart goes out to that man but rules are rules but may he find a way. I see a lot of stone hearted comments. It’s not so easy as people make it seem Abe most of you are talking ignorance because you are privileged and so am I for the record. There are lot of ignorant people in Europe and north America . Wait in few years Islam will overtake the west . West has allowed Islamists to settle in their country , you guys have to pay a big price .

Meanwhile as a black Haitian woman I can care less if someone does like me or following me inside the store. I’m good at ignoring people as long as they don’t put their hands on me, they can say whatever they want to say it’s their freedom of speech. At the end of the day they will feel like a moron not me. Different cultures have different tendencies and behaviours. If you see a certain behaviour more than once among the same culture / group, you will naturally start categorizing. Most people think it's a skin colour (which very commonly is just an attribute of a certain culture or group), but in reality, it's hard to tell people not to stereotype and just simply ignore what you observe.

There is one form of discrimination that does not get talked about as often as other forms and is largely ignored. Disablism. Discrimination against people who have physical or intellectual disabilities.
