This is not a country of milk and honey any longer but poor and enormous homelessness. Hunger, terrible health care, incredible post secondary tuitions and books. Now that president Trump has won the election he is going to place tariffs on Canadian goods and rightfully so. Russia is very interested in the Antarctica and should they or anyone invade Canada we got 3 days of ammunition. The food in AB is very bad for your health. Everything has pesticides, hormones, and by the time fruit and vegies arrive here from the US all the nutrition have gone. A extremely high cancer rate, young and old, diabetes, depression and other mental disorders are rampant. Our children and grandchildren do not have a future so why bother going to school or work. Our kids live on the streets, shelters, camping in the woods and using fentanyl and meth all kinds of dangerous drugs. The cities and small towns are full of used needles, pipes, and more paraphelia just thrown on the trails everywhere. The US will not assist Canada when a possible War 3 will occur, and we the people of Canada and the land are easy prey. If you do not believe me, just come visit RED Deer shelters and walk around on the trails, go to Vancouver but becareful because random assaults are happening every day, people living in tents, using the streets as toilets, drugs galore, even the police is unable to act nor arrest criminal activities caused by desperate people who need to survive. Canada's economy is about to collapse and fall into a recession. We have too many people coming in our country without checking their back ground and many criminals and terrorist groups are entering declaring refugee status whether it is true or not, we do not know. The people of Canada who work and pay highest taxes are used to house these newcomers and education, jobs, food and money. Our government take better care of these illegal people than their own people especially our youth. So please let us not pretend Canada is a land of opportunity and great. Let's get real here, these international students do not contribute significantly at all to Canada's economy. They are a drain on food banks that locals need for survival. They are a drain on our economy because 90% of them are sending most of their paycheques back to family in India. They are taking jobs away from young Canadians trying to enter the job market while Canada's unemployment rate is high right across the country. The schools mostly are fraudulent diploma mills that are not providing any real world job skills that are useful to Canada or Canadians and 90% of Indian international students who enroll in these colleges do not even attend. They come only to work for dollars and send money back to India. Meanwhile the cost of living is extremely high due to the housing shortage caused by excessive Indian International students. It should be very clear now, Canada and Canadians want all these Indians to leave Canada and return to India as stated in the temporary resident visa. If not they will be cut off and deported also incurring a 5 to 10 year ban from Canada.

The big problem is that Canada increased immigration without having the infrastructure for them. Immigrants tend to move to major populations like Toronto, Vancouver, etc because there are typically more jobs, so these towns had their numbers increase faster than our social net could handle. Add in long-term Governmental reductions in spending on things like housing, healthcare, education with more people to service, and you end up with the housing crisis and inflation that we have.\n\nI understand why immigration was pushed; it was partially because people are collateral on the world stage. The larger your population, the more a country can borrow because you have more people to pay back those loans through taxation. It should work ... As long as you have the infrastructure to support the new citizens.\n\nImmigration needs to be dramatically reduced from current levels for a few years while we work to get up to speed for the populace we have.

I'm doing just fine in Canada, where I've lived my whole life except for 7 years in Japan. Any difficulties people having comes down to the individual, not a systematic national problem. My rent in Vancouver is under $1000, because I haven't moved in 11 years. I have no debt, no car, no expensive lifestyle, no drug habit. I made good choices. Others have not.\n\nCanada is still a land of opportunity if you get a job, get your vaccines, live within your means and don't expect a 1950s style economy, anyone can do fine. I came to Canada in 1989 with my twin sister. I haven't left Canada ever since I came in. My twin sister left Canada for good in 2023. I did not come to Canada because I needed more money. I came to Canada because I did not have a country. Canada became my home country but the crazy thing is I don't recognize the Canada I knew over the years. Many people came to Canada to take advantage of this wonderful nation. My beloved city of Toronto turned into a third world country. I'm now in Alberta where I work hard and pay my taxes. Girls, I came here as an international student, I make about 150K year, I pay aournd 45% of my salary in taxes and 2500 in rent, that is unfair. My job comes from the U.S. and now I have to face impossible PR process. Canada needs reforms for sure, but think twice, this is not the only country a highly skilled immigrant can go, the world is big, stop blaming international students for everything, we came here following the rules, and we did not write those rules. To be honest, I am seriously thinking about moving somewhere else including home. I have a nice house, pool and warm weather back home.

Thank you so much for this. In spite of being born in Ontario, I learned a lot about Canada! My entire family was born and grew up either in Toronto or in the then-small towns closeby. My father moved us to upstate NY in 1957 when I was 9 years old, me kicking and screaming all the way. I was devastated to be leaving Canada, and now at 77, I've decided this life-long yearning to return to my birthplace has to become reality. I've started the process, hoping I may gain some points because I'm a former citizen :) . I still have lots of family in several provinces; people I haven't seen since we were children, and some of us are great-grandparents now. First of all Canada and America are European colonization countries. I live in Germany for about 6 years, moving from Bosnia and didnt have any of those problems mentioned, excluding the bureaucratic hurdels. Granted, i do speak German natively since ive spent my early childhood years here.
