Anti Canadianism is what it’s called. Trump chose this ridiculous tarif. We need to stand up to this nonsense

It's too bad that Trudeau's Government did so little about fentanyl, also about our poorly-controlled border and destructive immigration non-policies for so long. Hence, driving Trump's scorched-earth policy (The Tariffs). That said, it blows me away that Trump was so vociferous about the Lawfare that was lined up against him in 2023-24, but he doesn't see that excess use of the power of the State is wrong and immoral in this Canadian and Mexican case. Trump only knows the right of might. Threats, coercion, bullying. He doesn't otherwise distinguish between right and wrong; only about what is good for him and his ego. The Tariffs will drive very bad business outcomes in the US. Including, inflation, and lost jobs. The Stock Markets are already tanking. At this particular stage, his ego will not allow him to back off, that's my prediction. Much pain for all Americans (and obviously for Canadians) will first have to ensue. Canada must receive its spanking, and Donald will have to save face. Ultimately, he'll invent some dishonest pretense to put the genie in the bottle, while the economic damage to all sides will be severe. But ... Why would he care?

Fair trade hasn’t existed for many years, and while there may be increases felt by these tarrifs, our hope is that long term we manufacture more excellent goods here & use more of our own natural resources! Those commenting about what we are doing to Ukraine need to get their heads out if the sand…the Ukrainian people don’t want Zelinski but cannot get rid of him! He has taken hundreds of billions of dollars from the US and has no plan for peace in his nation…Pres Trump says enough is enough, and he is trying to not only end the war, but recoup massive amounts of money we wrongly gave through a deal for natural resources. Sounds like a plan that’s good for everyone involved, and that’s how you make deals! We cannot give whst we do not have & with our debt , we cannot afford to keep printing money, devaluing the dollar, and giving it away at the expense of hard working N Americans!

I am grateful for what the US has given me up until this point but now the idiotic Trump and his idiot followers are destroying a country I have grown up to love. Its time to leave and I encourage those that can to look at leaving the US. What I have loved most about the stupidity of Trump, his government and his supporters is that it has brought Europe and the commonwealth together. It’s made citizens of each country unite together at a time that there was so much division especially in Europe. People across the world boycotting the USA to show their, disgust, hit them where it hurts, supporting other business and bolstering our own economies, in doing so also supporting those Americans that did not vote for this. So much good coming from this.

As a German - apart from the content which is no less than justified - just technically comparing Trudeau´s speech with Donald Trump´s verbal outcome - what an incredible difference in niveau & tone. Isn't it almost tragic how little skill it took to run the U.S and even worse, how low the common-sense-threshold must be for a half of the American people to make this happen a second time. What Trump is too stupid to understand is that the cost of tariffs is always passed on to the end user, the consumer, the purchaser. He doesn't know this because he has never paid for anything in his life.

I can confidently say as a Canadian, what Trump has done and continues to do is driving the biggest wedge between Canada and the USA. The jokes of Canada becoming a 51st state is outrageous and i speak for many fellow Canadians when saying - WE WILL DIE AS CANADIANS before bending the knee to America. If I really want to make sense of all this non sense, in this 'alternative truth world', I will say that, in fact, Trump is surprisingly the best advocate for sustainable development! Because, if the tariffs have the expected consequences, trade between both your countries will decrease, meaning less trucks on the roads, meaning less fossiles fuels, less production, less consumption, meaning less emissions of CO2. Is it what Trump really wants?

As a European having lived in both Canada and the United States for prolonged times, my view is this: Canadians are basically the same as Americans but with Health Care. They have a common heritage and history and this is like a brother turning evil and hurting its siblings. Trump is smart? I don't think so, he comes across as a low IQ individual born with privileges, heck he has been bankrupt what is it four times?
