700,000 of the 1.1 million that came to Canada are students. The international student system needs to be overhauled. The university/colleges who want international students must register with the feds. Those with permits MUST BE MADE to build, own, and provide international students with housing. When an international student is offered a placement in a Canadian education institution, they are also offered housing built by that institution. Once acceptance is made, then the details are sent to the feds and the visa is finally issued. This way, everyone who comes, has housing, it takes pressure off the domestic housing market, the students themselves know where they are going to be and how much things will cost, including the housing, and the Canadian institutions who want the stdents, have to now pay for them. This will force the education institutions to build more housing, lower the number of students they bring in, and offer much more remote learning opportunities if the program really does not require the students to come at all. Pass the bill onto the institutions, and the problem will quickly resolve. The federal government is being LAZY. If it wants people, it has to focus on a system that makes sense for people to come to Canada, insure the institutions dont take advantage of these students AND NOT shift the housing problem to the domestic market. The federal and provincial governments also need to organize themselves with each other. The provinces should tell the federal government how many they can take in based on housing stock and unemployment rate, and the feds only grant visas based on those numbers, and the visas require those coming to be in the province that has space for them. This way, you help to take pressure off the larger cities and spread growth to areas of the country that wants the growth. The approach needs to be bottom up, so needs and capacity drive the numbers allowed in.

Canada is going downhill for the past 20 years. The list of problems faced by Canada are many, this includes unaffordable housing, a dysfunctional health care system with never ending wait times, over taxation with little or benefits in return, an exploding homeless population, and an economy dominated by monopolies which leads exorbitant high prices. Trudeau believes the solution to all of Canada ills is to increase immigration to a recklessly high number and double the size of the federal government, this recklessly high number of immigration is exacerbating Canada’s problems and not improving it. Thanks to Trudeau Canada is headed for third world status.

The homeless population is 99% made up of people born in Canada. Immigrants are working two jobs, some outperforming the ones born here. A lot of them doing jobs “Canadians” don’t want to do. The housing crisis has more to do with the restrictive zoning laws that make it hard to build new housing, which benefits the few billionaires who own the few construction companies allowed to operate. Blaming immigration is simply being intellectually lazy.

Canada has sadly taken a hit. I say with no hate..... but we let too many people into our nation. The housing issue is one thing, but housing can be built. My sadness comes from the change in our Canadian culture. Canadians were always known to be nice people, polite and generous people but the more foreigners we let in, I see less friendly Canadians, less polite Canadians.... our culture is changing for the worse because of letting other cultures blend in.

Australia is suffering the exact same problems no housing, price of everything rising, immigrants complaining. Government wanted to increase it's tax base straight away and didn't have the patience to actually plan around the highest immigration numbers in history. And make no mistake that wasn't an accident. I'm not against immigration but 1 million people in 3 years is a little bit extreme. I can't even imagine how bad it is in Canada, feel for you guys, apart from New Zealand I see Canadians as our other brothers from across the pond.

I think the best part about Canada that you can't find anywhere else is the people and the landscape. Everyone here is so friendly and willing to help their neighbor. I find when I travel, the world feels much colder than here. Unfortunately it's all these amazing people who are suffering to no fault of their own. I haven't been to a doctor since I moved to Quebec (Born and raised Albertan) and I think it's among the worst of the provinces in terms of healthcare and infrastructure and considering it's the highest taxes in all the provinces. Luckily in Quebec City though it's still very affordable (relative to the rest of the country) but the housing market is still getting expensive here very fast. in 2020 my friend bought an apartment for 300k and within 4 years it's easily almost doubled in value for no reason other than inflation in the market. I love this country but indeed things need to change

As a Canadian this video is only touching the tip of the iceberg. #1 Canada was built by immigrants (like my late grandparents) for immigrants, Immigrants regardless if they are here on a work or study permit are not the problem but the solution, always have been and always will be. Yes the part of the problem can be attributed to an inadequate affordable housing and yes the federal government does deserve blame for that. However as the 2nd largest nation in the world by land mass yet with a population less than California, we have a lot of underdeveloped areas from the Pacific to the Atlantic, and that is also the fault of the federal government regardless of political stripe. Regardless if people come to Canada to work or study, the federal government needs to make it more attractive to them to reside outside the BIG 3 cities of Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver which have become overwhelmed with immigrants hence the strain on housing and healthcare

I used to study in one of Canadian colleges back in 2018 and lately graduated in 2021s. My parents paid the college instead of me , fortunately around 300K CAD for a college tuition fee to grocery fees to monthly room rentals in Toronto. \n\n I am a Korean national and i see there is no benefit for me to move in to Canada as Canadian cities have extremely high housing rentals compared to major cities in the US. I do hope US govt bridges and gets the internatinoal student in Canada approval for a work visa and possibly let them move in to small cities in the US.

Ugh this is so sad. I was in my mid 20s when I left Canada for the US because the housing situation there was out of control. The park they showed at the 2:44 mark was where I used to live back in 2021 and I remember it was filled with kids playing and people walking their dogs. Now it's a tent encampment for the homeless. Very sad to see the living condition deteriorate there and hoping they can turn it around.

Canada is turning into a dystopia very fast. The healthcare has been collapsed completely. Housing has become an impossibility for most Canadians. Freedom of Speech has gone - as we saw in the crackdown after the trucker protest - under this narcissistic prime minister.

At the start of the video there were statements made that the immigration: foreign workers and international students - is putting a strain on the Canadian safety net. When the narrator was talking about homeless population there was a video piece showing opinions of some of the homeless people. Are those homeless people immigrants? If not how can you use that video piece to support your point?\n\nThere was also a chart showing how shelter occupancy grew in Toronto and how expensive it is to buy a house in Toronto. Toronto is not the whole country, you can’t make it seem like the whole country can’t “afford immigrants” because housing in Toronto is expensive.\n\nI view this report as an opinion piece: there were some statements made at the beginning but as the video progressed no evidence was provided to support those statements.\n\nI agree that there are problems that are tied to immigration in Canada but you can’t just state something without providing a factual evidence showing how immigration is linked to the problems covered in the video. This looks like cherry picking, not journalism.

Politicians did not think about the support system for newcomers: housing, healthcare, education, and transportation. Also after COVID-19, there was a surge in temporary residents ( international students and temporary workers) The other mistake is that Canada is bringing foreign workers and international students but not international investments for innovation, entrepreneurs, and financial capital.

This lack of access to health care is a new thing. I agree with your assessment. It now seems lonelier in Toronto. \n\nCanada used to be different because anyone with a good job could afford at least a condo, but life became unaffordable not just for immigrants, but for everyone unless you are in your 50s-60s and own a home. \n\nI have friends working double jobs supporting family back home in other countries, but for some of them the family back home sound like they are doing better than them and own a home. It’s like they are sacrificing their life to be in poverty or full of hardships and their families get to go out for dinners and drinks with friends. Not them. Not true for everyone, but for some yes and I worry about their own retirement because retirement in Canada without lots of savings means you might be homeless or forced to live with family even if it’s not your preference. \n\n without investments and savings, it will be hard to beat inflation. Getting into debt and getting bad credit can mean not getting an apartment. \n\nThe birth rate is going down because it is expensive to have kids and income isn’t enough to match with living costs. Getting help from government is really not something everyone gets access too. One person might get housing support, 10 others may get nothing. Different governments offer different things. Programs end and change often. \n\nIn Canada definitely bargain and shop around for good phone plans. one idea is to get a pay as you go until “Black Friday” then every year or two when your good offer expires there will be many others. It’s the time with the best deals saving almost half. For instance, I have 50 gigs for $25 for two years from a large provider. Telephone companies are the one place where people must bargain and even ask for better deals as a must.\n\nThe people you see living in big houses, will have kids that can’t afford the same. This is because prices keep rising. The system protects the very rich, but will also drain the middle class often within 1-2 generations. Do not link your business to your personal finance, or creditors can take your home. Some not knowing this lose everything and rich people know better. \n\nPeople live until they are very old, so inheritance is pretty much meaningless to rely on, so no matter what your parents have you must hustle in life. \n\nI do think Canada can become what we want over time. Citizens need to fight the trend of great community spaces, restaurants and bars going out of business and dumb corporations move in with bad boring restaurants. Like a McDonald’s where maybe a popular cultural hang out was. \n\nPart of the problem is a lack of mixed income housing areas, so it’s hard to stay living where you grew up. Artists and musicians help make a city great, but many cannot afford to live here.\n\nFamilies and communities staying together means more support for those with young kids and older relatives when they need help. Yet how is this possible in a city that is always pushing out lower income people when wealthier people desire the area. \n\nIn Toronto, every time you move you have to take what is available and that might mean moving an hour away from everyone you know. This weakens communities. Plus, if you live too far from your work you will have no time to socialize for most the week due to travel time. \n\nI think those who grew up in Toronto do have a certain culture of acceptance with others from many cultures, because your friends at school were from all over. But with new migrants sometimes it isn’t until the second generation that their social circles get diverse. This can be isolating and it’s even isolating as those from Toronto eventually leave dreaming of staying in one spot and not forced to move constantly when a landlord investor sells every house you move into. \n\n\nToronto really needs to protect affordability of housing for at least some housing in every section so that people can save money if they live in the city, and not have to leave their communities and be far from their friends and family. \n\notherwise eventually people get sick of the hustle and it’s too tiring to travel 1+ hrs each way to visit someone during Monday to Friday. \n\n20 years ago any professional could at least buy a condo. Not today. There is too much competition now and investors are allowed to buy up all the most affordable housing that once was a pathway to owning a home. \n\nRich policy makers got greedy and destroyed canada and hopefully diversity in leadership will help make Canada better. I may receive a lot of criticism for my opinion, but I feel compelled to share my experience as a resident and worker in this country. I immigrated to Canada from Ukraine in 2022 and have since been living and working in Winnipeg. This country has offered me numerous opportunities, even though I do not hold high-ranking positions. My wife and I are able to save a bit of money for unforeseen expenses. Just when I started to feel settled and thought that things were going quite well, I encountered numerous videos claiming the opposite, particularly highlighting the scarcity of affordable housing. \n \nDespite the prevalence of such content, my personal experience differs. I pay $725 for housing with a salary of $2.3K, which I find to be a reasonable balance. Some might say I was fortunate, but affordable housing ranging from $800 to $1000 is readily available in Winnipeg, and this is just one city's example; there are many other cities across Canada. \nFrom my perspective, the issue of housing affordability is overstated and not solely attributable to the country's policies. Such scenarios can occur in any nation if half the population desires to reside within 4% of its land area (namely, Toronto and its vicinity), leading inevitably to soaring prices – that's simply economics. \n \nIt's not my place to dictate how Canadians should live, but it appears to me that the crux of the problem lies in the uneven distribution of the population. As the second-largest country globally, Canada can comfortably accommodate 40 million people or even significantly more. However, this necessitates a collective understanding that concentrating the population in a single city may not be the most prudent approach.

Canada is a joke now, trying so hard to be a 51st state. We've got all the crime and all the tent cities to compete with the very greatest American cities. Our tiny little towns now have homeless folks and I fear the day I become homeless.\n\nWe've lost our honour. We've sold out to corporations. We're intentionally pushing people out of their homes so the rich may get richer. And our Cuban PM, Justin Castro, is alright with it. He's also happy providing immigrants with subsidized housing while born-and-bred Canadians suffer. Heck, 'everyday young people' in their 20s can't even envision owning a home unless they come from a wealthy family or their parents die and leave the family home to them. They're better off buying an RV but even those cost what a house SHOULD cost.\n\nThis is not the Canada I was born in. It's a total effing disaster. The only saving grace for me is that I brought no children into this mess and I really hope to be dead before Xmas if I don't find a job. Being as I'm a coward and my doctor won't euthanize me (I asked), I figure a hunger strike is the was to go unless I can find a high enough cliff. There's nothing in Canada to be proud of or get excited about. Nothing. No future.

I clicked on this expecting some right-wing Trudeau-bashing, and I was pleased to see it’s actually a fairly objective, non-partisan discussion. \n\nOne thing it doesn’t mention, though, is that conservative provincial governments in Canada are sitting on $70 billion in health care funding supplied by the federal government. They are deliberately allowing their health care systems to deteriorate. They have done the same with federal housing funding, to the point where the federal government is now making deals directly with cities to supply new housing. \n\nAnd, those rising housing prices, for better or worse, have made a lot of Canadian homeowners and landlords very wealthy. THEY certainly don’t want to see housing get more affordable.

I feel like moving as a lifelong Canadian. I love people and love culture. I don't like extremists. \n\nMy problem is simply I don't our government is ethical nor caring to it's citizens, and as far as immigrants go, I am absolutely all for it with a reasonable rate without displacement or a negative sum on people that have built families here already. I came in Windsor Ontario as a foreign worker in 2009, wasn't the best time to look for a job there but still. I did 1 year of studying, worked again, left for Alberta in 2012 where I still am. Got my PR in 2014 and citizenship in 2022. Most of the things I hear against living in Canada must be true, I don't doubt it but I'm just not aware of them. I didn't even know there was a bank account freezing during COVID. It wasn't easy to get a good job, I had to leave for a small community in Alberta to get the most of what I wanted and that's why I am oblivious to the harsher reality that people have to endure in Toronto or Vancouver. But the thing is, as soon as I landed in Toronto and got robbed 50$ by some guy (this is just an anecdote not the real reason), I knew I shouldn't try to make a living there. I know job opportunities are in those big cities but please, if you can, there are great communities that need people, workers, consumers and families. If you can land a job there, move! At least try. It doesn't even have to be that far up north, nor to be a mini small village. Small city, rural living, no criminality, cheap housing, lots of space, family friendly, no traffic, no wait time to see a doctor, friendly people, douchebags, we have it here. Are they drawbacks? Yes of course. Need to drive 1 or 2 hour to get a scan or an MRI, car dependance is exacerbated but hey, it feels like a free country where no one have been overpriced...yet.

Canada is awesome, of course it's not perfect, but it's a fabulous place to live (if you can find affordable housing)! Our healthcare is phenomenal and maybe even too good. Medicine is intervening where it shouldn't and probably extending lives that shouldn't be extended. We have an aging population because our birth rate is low. But people need to take responsibility for their health. Most of the inflammatory diseases we all suffer from are preventable and our clinics are congested with people with very minor ailments who likely wouldn't be there if they were paying out of pocket for the visit. Gay marriage is legal, we eliminated the penny, we finally banned single use plastics, we don't throw money at space exploration or on our military, one year maternity leave, the Canadian Pension, the old age pension- so many government programs, everyone has access to free healthcare and it took a little too long, but we have MAID, we'll help you die if you're sick so you don't need to suffer. And where I live, we legislated out daylight saving time back in the 70's cuz it's stupid.

It's not a housing bubble. A bubble is when investors overvalue a commodity. Even taking into account speculative property purchases, housing isn't overvalued in Canada. It is where it is because that is where the market has found the balance between the high demand and the low supply. There simply isn't enough housing being built to accommodate a million more people a year. We need to build more lower and middle-class housing. As a student of both history and architecture, I can tell you we've been here before and we dealt with it, and we can again. This situation is both a result of many factors that could and couldn't be centrally controlled. Things that couldn't be controlled: Covid and a spike in retirement rates, an aging population, low profit margins for builders, and inflation (that last one is not so easy for a central bank to control as many people seem to think it is). Factors that could be controlled: Zoning laws and bylaws, linking immigration to the amount of housing available and being built, government greed for foreign money to balance their books, short-sighted politicians of all stripes, underfunding of post-secondary education, and lack of government incentives to make building worthwhile for contractors. I've probably missed some things, but the point is that this is not an intractable predicament, and good leadership, good ideas and the will to make things happen can get us out of it.

yep Canada is done. a lot of genderless people and genderless washrooms in schools, drugged up people from drug legalization, depressed individuals can now qualify for the recent legalization of assisted suicide, super cold place, jobs doesn't align with standard of living, crime is legalized like theft under $1000, college schooling are the same price as some housing mortgages, no one having kids because can't even afford down payment for housing on 2 incomes, Taxes up to 60%, and Lastly; a new law is being propped up and can send me to prison for life for causing harm if they get depressed and ended themself for seeing this comment. I moved to Canada 15 years ago and yes coming from a third world country, here felt like a downgrade. I am just trying to erase my debt then move back home and restart.

We left Canada semi-permanently in 2023. It's too cold, miserable, the travel distances wear you down, the people are generally unfriendly, the government is a mess, the currency is weak and getting weaker, the hours have always been long (2 weeks vacation a year, and be surprised if you're not fired right after), low incomes comparatively, a bad and getting worse healthcare system (re: thousands line up for one doctor accepting new patients in Kingston) and high taxes. Combine this with housing that will cost more than 70% of your income, overall the quality of life is low and there is no reason to be there.

Until 2020 (pandemic), most lifelong Canadians would have proudly & quickly said Canada is a great place. For multiple generations (young & old). It still is in many ways. But like all countries, a bunch of things have made life more difficult lately. \n \nDuring the COVID lockdowns, many people went wild wanting to buy a house (urban & rural). Increasing demand and rising prices. Not long after, inflation caused mortgage rates especially to rise. Rent costs soared too. People interested in working in hospitals declined. Less doctors etc.. \n \nSimultaneously in Canada, the number of people coming by air, land and boat to claim asylum skyrocketed. For example, in 2023 alone, in just one region (Central Canada) around 400 people arrived per day (on average). Ditto for other populated provinces. Also the number of international students SKYROCKETED too. In 2023, averaging around 2,000 per day across Canada. Years 2021 and 2022 had high #s too. \n \nThe majority trying to migrate to Canada recently have been from South Asia. And it's become extremely obvious to Canadians. Even those that are very used to much diversity & many cultures. Plus neighborhoods now know that international students are using schooling as a 'back door' ticket to come to Canada for permanent residency. No one says it in public amongst strangers, but everyone knows because they've witnessed the extreme PR frenzy firsthand by now. To many Canadians it has felt like a tidal wave that has reached all cities and small towns, with a post secondary school. This extreme situation never existed prior to 4 years ago.\n \nHospitals have been hit with many wanting free healthcare. Less doctors/nurses etc., means greater waiting times. Plus a VERY SEVERE HOUSING CRISIS has occurred in many western countries including in Canada. In ways not seen in people's lifetimes. And if you do find a place to live its quite expensive. Including small basement rooms. \n \nNow westerners want the money greedy agents (pseudo smugglers) in other countries to stop marketing & LYING to their own people about access to PR or citizenship … or accommodation/jobs … being easy (to get). And for any greedy people living in western countries to be ashamed of themselves if they're hurting students. Anyone doing things to make $ off of people's PR desires. At best, there is a 25% chance of gaining PR (better odds if you are masters/medicine etc.). \n \nNot all players across the board have acted honestly over the years, i.e. contract marriages (IELTS spouse), anchor babies, fraud, false asylum claims. Canada has asked the India government to prevent “ghost consulting”. The new PRIVATE (non-public) colleges are being investigated (including looking for strong oversea ties). \n \nCanadians are meeting students who told Canada they have enough $, but it turns out they borrowed it (some borrowed it for the application process only). Canadian food banks and other CHARITY services have been recklessly advertised on YouTube (by India students in Indian language). Many transit services have launched stricter rules, i.e. lost monthly bus passes registered in your name are now never replaced (unlike before). \n \nThen this year throw in all the Palestinian vs Israeli angry protests happening regularly in cities. Plus the Sikh vs Hindu violence/extortion mostly happening in Ontario and British Columbia. Plus the Canadian government also recently launched investigations in regards to foreign interference in Canadian elections. All stemming from Asia continent. Hate crimes have gone from rare to occasional (primarily South Asians against South Asians). \n \nCanadians are so so so so so not used to all this. So many, who have embraced multi-culturalism and immigration for decades are now VERY worried and fearful (due to all of the above). And all are praying it doesn't turn into great anger (like in the USA). \n \nCanadians want multi-culturism to succeed … and for all people (including immigrants) to be okay. Everyone I know is VERY happy with Canada Immigration's recent changes (reductions & investigations). Including multi-generational long-term Asian-Canadians where many have been the most upset (by all of this).

I truly believe this all revolves around the housing crisis. Not enough housing can be built. Canadians with options are not taking low-income jobs. It's not a survivable wage anymore. Canada's #1 GDP is Real Estate. Potential first-time home buyers are not willing to throw themselves into a lifetime debt for a weak economy. \n\nSo what does Canada do? Fill these vacancies with immigrants. Not inherently wrong, but it's a band-aid solution to temporarily pump up the numbers. \n\nImmigrants, specifically refugees are taking low-income jobs. Speak Arabic? You can easily fill your job positions for minimum wage. Just like mafia tactics in third-world countries, the government takes their passports away and they must fulfill their duties at a very low wage and very high cost of living under threat of being thrown back into a potentially war-torn country. Came to Canada as a Dentist? Doesn't matter, you need to climb the ladder again and in the meantime work as a Receptionist making minimum wage.\n\nImmigrants with money are obligated to prove themselves. Buy housing, start a business. Numerous cities such as Brampton are being filled with slums. Housing a double digit of residents in the basement at absurd costs so the landlords can afford their ridiculous mortgages and lifestyle off the back of other immigrants/refugees.\n\nThe main issue is the hate directed towards immigrants. First of all, in the video it was disgusting for the man to acknowledge that someone was wearing good clothes and asking where the refugee center is. Someone can be a refugee and still have money. That's the ideal refugee. Someone with money in a war-torn country such as Sudan are high targets and completely deserve to run away to a safe country like Canada - especially if they can afford to spend money and stimulate the economy.\n\nStop attacking the people. This is a housing crisis issue that has been so poorly managed that these deeply rooted symptoms are beginning to show.

This video has potential. But it's missing hard data, is poorly researched, and both homelessness and the housing crisis in Canada is so much more than just 'immigration'. The Homeless Hub at York University would've been a great resource for this.

Getting ill causing a month long stay in the ICU left me homeless as living paycheck to paycheck causes once the cheques stop , I was placed in a Toronto homeless shelter 3 years ago and I can tell you that African refugees enter a shelter and no more than 3 weeks later are housed usually 5 at a time all Getting a fully paid market value 1 bedroom apartment average price $2,600 monthly that with a monthly welfare cheque and free food dental medical prescriptions clothing WIN WIN WIN the Canadian born homeless shelter residents get put on a 38,000 name waiting list for Ontario's drug infested housing ghettos the Africans are being housed under a kept secret program called COHB secret from us Canadian homeless that is and I've witnessed this now at 5 different shelters I've been in, having befriended one of the African migrants who is a little unstable drinking alcohol and smoking pot so he hasn't been housed but he has shown me the paper work that has been housing his fellow illegal immigrants and I say illegal because they all came as visitors only to claim asylum as soon as they land he also told me they all borrow the money for their plane tickets from a gang who once they land and start instantly getting welfare have to send half the proceeds back to this gang in Africa for the next two years , in this shelter donated clothing comes in everyday and two African shelter residents fold and sort the clothing taking all the name brand clothes what they didn't hand out to the other Africans they walk to the post office and ship it back to Africa I'm not making this shit up after we complained to staff which also happen to be made up from the Africans themselves yes they've hired wolves to watch over the other wolves so they now aren't walking out the front door everyday with garbage bags full of clothes at least not in front of our eyes DON'T CALL ME RACIST I know that's the go to word when this insanity is made public , what do you think is the first thing these Africans do when they walk into their free apartment? If I was Prime Minister. I would Ban the immigrant Visa program for the next 10 years. I would deport anyone who has overstayed there welcome (those with expired visas) or are here (illegally) and now (not documented) \n\nThat alone would take many out of the shelters, homes, rentals, streets that should not be in the Country anymore. Leaving the resources and the people who work and volunteer for those resources to help the Canadian people (which would be the prime reason for this) Canadians first ! \n\nI would cut the Carbon Tax. we need to take into considerations, these opinions are from a few people... Immigration is just 1 factor that affects services and housing provided by the government. But in all reality a lot of this is more politics, business. If the government supplied affordable housing (apartments with 1000 units at affordable rates with a low/medium standard) and a person had the choice to rent from subsidized program or an investors condo (mid/high standard), than investors renting their units would have a base rental price to compete with, giving the government control (hopefully in the interest to the majority). Canada cannot make its own money. So what does it do? It has to figure out unethical ways to bring in money. This is done by bringing in immigrants. There is multiple birds with one Stone hit here. Meaning gives immigrants the lie of a better life. So they take all their money that they have in their nation. And they bring it here. For me to get a franchise here while owning other businesses was IMPOSSIBLE 5 yrs ago. But these guys with no credentials are getting it right away. I wasn't allowed to modify my house or rent by law. And they are now allowing all of that. My mother had an international driver's license from France and she had to go through hoops to get her licence here. They are handing things over with no screening to these people which is cause instability and chaos. No structure. They let them bring their huge money here and put into franchises with no credentials. Bank loans free approval no questions asked. Meanwhile, most of those franchises will never make any money. Then they will take that money also, and put it into homes. Rent etc, and this is the part where they basically drain the immigrant money in an instant and put it into Canada economy. Now that you have all these immigrants buying all these businesses. Now you need slave work, so you start Bringing it more immigrants to work those slave jobs. Because in the 1990s, all the way up to 2010. You were encouraging Education. During that time Education was the money Maker. So you kept pushing that. Billions went to universities. For some nations Canada turned into nightmare by spoof call attack. Many people died or killed. As an immigrant from Europe (not a country with a high level of poverty or a war), I arrived here in 2016 and I can say I love Canada, a very welcoming country. While I see lots of immigrants returning to their countries or going to other places, this country is amazing, offering tons of possibilities to entrepreneurs, business people and with a wide variety of possibilities. Yes, housing is an issue but it is in many rich countries. I also see a lot of people like me, happy about what they have and what they built. I travelled the world (Australia, Europe, Middle-East, Africa and Asia) and I can guarantee, there is no perfect place. So find the place that suits you best. Do not expect perfection. It does not exist.

I think racism is on the rise in Canada, because communites are seeing masses of Indians overtaking their community and erasing canadian culture and replacing it with their own. India is a third world country, I don't think nice canadian communities are receptive to tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of Indians then coming into that community and speaking their own language, playing their own music, following their own relegion, celebrating their own holidays, dressing like they do back home, playing cricket and soccer etc... and that becoming common place rather than tradidional canadian culture. They want canada to stay Canadian and I'm all for that. Not to mention the housing crisis.

This is the worst time and place to be in Canada. Very challenging job market, housing unaffordability, health care crisis, day care crisis. Basically, you wait three or four months to see a specialist doctor. You wait three or four months to get an ultrasound examination. It is worse than third-world countries. We all wish the truth before coming. Canada is a failing ship ?.

Sadly, Canada is not longer the country it used to be! \nAffordability is a huge factor, plus the difficulty to enter the job force or find a good job (not only in academia in every field) which so necessary to pay for housing, food etc\nBut also the social and cultural changes has been huge in the past decade. \nAs we see the decline in USA, we can see Canada is following closely and in some areas, we are doing worse.\n20+ years ago Canada have quality of life, that has dropped drastically in every area health services, schools, security, transportation, housing, infrastructure etc. although we pay higher taxes than other countries we do not have the same services.\nLaws restricting liberties and going to the extreme on protecting and impossing other ideologes erosion of freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, freedom of religion etc. \nOn top all that is the huge public debt, lack of transparency, abuse in the spending of many politicians, and corruption.\nAll together has turned living in Canada less disarable for many immigrants and also nationals. Many Canadian are choosing to live abroad or retire abroad.

12 year wait for a doctor, three months for a blood test cannot walk into a clinic since covid, have to book online, but can't book online without a doctor, check every day for an appt space- none avail. Literally NO access to medical care and in the ER after seven hours wait they misdiagnose you and fail. Surgery wait is years, and they wont give you a day or time for an appointment, they say they will call you months later to book a time and then never do. There is no longer health care in Canada. Then there is the cost of housing. Then there is Trudeau making news reporting and websites he doesnt like illegal and pushing through laws to let the govt jail you for speech they dont like using anonymous accusers.

I have lived in canada my whole life. \nHere are the main hurdles:\n1. Cost of realestate and cost of living. You need white collar wages just to be able to rent, not buy, rent an apartment in most major cities. Cost of homes is insane as well.\n2. Jobs often pay low wages below what is needed to afford to live unless its white collar or trades working overtime hours. The jobs that do pay well often get hundreds of applications making your chances lower.\n3. Dentists cost an arm and a leg. The cost of it is insane unless you have a really good coverage plan from your job. \n4. Healthcare moves at a snails pace. Not good if you have a serious illness or disease.\n5. The climate overall sucks. Its not cold. Its ridiculously cold.\n\nMy advice: Be made of money. \nSeriously though, have a huge savings and have a long term financial plan. Getting jobs that pay a living wage here as newcomers here are HARD to get because they always want Canadian work experience. University education from other countries other than the US, UK, or Australia don't count here. Be prepared to live very humbly unless you are just made of money.\n\nI dont even want to live in canada anymore. I am almost 40 and have very little to show for it despite working full time jobs with overtime my whole life. Looking at going almost anywhere but here. The housing crisis and cost of living are the dealbreakers for me. You shouldnt need to be making $75k/year just to afford to RENT a decent apartment. Theres something wrong here.
