How come this guy want to apply for papers in Canada and he did not do it in the USA? For so many years that he lived in USA. What happens is that as so many illegals in USA was very easy to work and not pay taxes as the rest of the people, they thought they will have it that way for the rest of their lives and now they are paying the price for their abuse to that great country!

it's rather hypocritical how some of the people practicing islam acts. If it's easy why won't this people go to Saudi Arabia or Iran and live and work there. What baffles me the more is that most of the so called Islamic states that are affected by wars and terrorism Why didn't kingdom of Saudi Arabia government take them in as immigrants since they are they founder of Islam and it's a religion of peace as they so claim. Rather it's country like America, Canada, Australia, Germany, Spain etc that takes them inn and they will want to change their tradition&cultures and want to lead them in their own country! People who can't speak the national language shouldn't be moving to another country especially not illegally. I can't feel sorry for this guy. I mean sure he's probably had a rough time but having kids and then trying to illegally immigrate just doesn't seem like the right way to try to live life especially not to raise a child in. \n\nIf you want to better yourself and your family learn the language and properly apply for a visa and come work here and contribute. Show Canada that your a worthy addition and eventually you can legally immigrate here. I work at a trash company in Downtown LA and I heard all the Mexicans talking about how Canada is letting everyone in lmaoooo.

I was born in Seattle and left to Canada (married) when I was in early 20's!  This then was a good change for me as Vancouver was a great city compared to Seattle, moved right downtown and had a blast so for a young person (then) was great.  Met some great people from all over the world and had health care, medical/Dental etc.... I worked in the greater Vancouver area for 8 years and it was tough, very strict, and did not help that I was from the states, white bread Canadian seemed a bit jealous that I was there, sometimes not very friendly.  The Europeans I met were actually better to deal with and I got along quite well with them.  The cost of living was about the same as in Seattle.  After about 8 years being in Canada and working hard I saw America booming and the Canadian dollar was as low as $.62 cents (in late 90's) so I took my craft from Vancouver and brought it to the US just across the border, I became much happier working in the States, I took a little bit of bs but not bad from some that I had a Canadian accent (go figure when I moved up there I had a twang) I really never left the united states I will always be American and I have been still working in the US for over 20 years and deal with mainly Americans on a daily basis from all over the State of Washington.  Depending on where you grow up or end up you should never see a border Seattle and Vancouver have more in common than Vancouver / Calgary in fact most Canadians don't care much for the other provinces.  After 30 years of being part of both countries, I can say that people are people both have great offerings and if you took the best of Canada and America to combine then we would all prosper, there is so much both can learn from each other.  Bottom line:I take the best of both worlds and what they have to offer, yes, I have found less expensive goods in Canada than what they cost in the states.  I have seen it from both eyes, and if you cant be open culturally then stay away.

Homie should of taken his 15k back to El Salvador and opened up a business to help his community. These immigrants think the west was “born” blessed. Canada has done extremely well for Immigrants, and we spend a lot of money on making sure we get hard working decent citizens.. We've recently made it easier for people to immigrate here. We welcome it. But it does have to be done legally. And yes, I agree with everyone else here. 15 years in English countries, and doesn't speak it himself is disgusting. I bet he'd learn the word food fast if he was starving. Also, those kids need to be in school. I hope he's not hiding them too cause they'll never learn English then.

Wanna come to Canada? Send literally 5 lbs worth of documents proving your age, credentials, work experience, knowledge of English (at least, sometimes French as well) wait 3-5 years and done. Do not regret spending that years in anticipation. Came legally - it really works. Though it could be a bit faster) I was 21 when I applied, came 1 week before turning 27. No regrets still!

A lot of people actually spend a lot of money, get higher education, get English language accreditation and rack up work experience just to get to Canada LEGALLY as an immigrant, where they have to start from the bottom again. People like Jose expect to just breeze by and benefit from Canada's resources with schemes and false claims of asylum seeking. He should be deported. He hasn't even made the effort to speak English and acclimate.

Laws are laws you seek asylum in the first safe landing not your choice of wherever whenever. Why then can I not leave Canada and go live in another country undocumented then when I fear deportation just go to another country? Because it's illegal yeah. But I wonder how sorry he feels, knowing that by coming to Canada, he and his fellow immigrant countrymen have, taken jobs away from Canadians? 1500 people like myself that have worked here all their lives? I was working in the meat industry for over fifteen years, just to have my employer, take my skilled job and give it too an unskilled worker, under the temporary foreign worker program. That program was set up by the federal government for unskilled workers, coming to Canada for unskilled jobs that Canadians didn't want. My job was a skilled job, that I had to work my way up from the bottom, to the level of employment, that only skilled workers were capable of doing. This temp program was for unskilled employment only! But if your employer is big enough in the industry, the government allows them to bend the laws of the land, and give your jobs to any undereducated immigrant that comes along...WTF? Canada wake up!!!

It's a heartbreaking situation, but a country has the right to decide who comes in and who doesn't. The places where hard-working, industrious people like Jose come from need to drastically change their societies to capitalize on his talents and provide for a stable future for his children. Perhaps what the US and Canada can do is help train those country's leaders to implement policies that improve their economies like establishing strong property rights, rule of law, free markets, tough measures on crime, etc. But unless you have a Ph.D. in Physics or will start the next Apple computers, we have plenty of unskilled labor here already. Look, I feel for the guy and I'm empathetic to his plight, I don't think he's an evil person, and our country may be better off having him here working and contributiing to the labor pool, but the law is the law.

Canada may only invite skilled workers but treats those that come here abysmally. I have worked with engineers from China, Russia. These engineers need to take courses to qualify for work in Canada. Many immigrants to Canada come as skilled workers but end up underemployed here in Canada. This ought not to be if Canada invited them to come to Canada.

I agree that racism exists in Canada in a subtle form. In my experience people would have more discrimination towards minority with foreign accents. I have heard from other people commenting immigrants 'this person has accent' and to me, it can be perceived negatively. Sometimes I feel I am treated differently because I have accent, especially at working environment. Few years ago I worked in school and my white boss put this on my yearly performance: Your 'emerging' English skills can have negative impact to children's language development. I didn't tell this to anyone but was very disappointed as we are a diversified country with so many immigrants, and this should not come out from an educator's mouth.

Unfortunately, in Canada you have to wait years for things you could have in way less time in the states IF you can pay for it. I have seizures every day and am on a two year waiting list to have the necessary testing done. Despite being unable to work enough to support myself due to the episodes, because they are un-diagnosed, I do not qualify for disability assistance. I pay for health care through taxes, yet cannot receive timely care, or assistance while I wait. There are definitely pros and cons to each system.

What about the terrorism that Christians are involved in?  The sexual abuse of children that still goes on today.  People have to remember not only were Pope John Paul and Pope Benedict were aware of the sexual abuse the perverted priests and bishops engage in,  but Pope Benedict went out of his way to move and protect the pedophile priests.  The Catholic church has spent millions on lawyers to prevent having to pay out the victims of sexual abuse.  The catholic church also has in its possessions stolen art works and valuables stolen by the Nazis during the war.  They have not handed them back to their rightful owners.  And to add insult to injury the Catholic church enjoys tax exemption status and protection in Canada while the victims of the church do not have access to services to help them rebuild their lives due to the effects they still suffer as a result of this abuse.  \n\nAn example of the further victimization sexual abuse victims of the Catholic cult have been exposed to is the practice of Crimen sollicitationis  Crimen sollicitationis states that if a person speaks out about their sexual abuse experiences within this cult they can be ex-communicated from the church.  \n\nAs a white man who is an ex catholic and who also had sexual abuse from this church it is my belief that many young children who were sexually and spiritually abused by the Catholic cult did not come forward because of shame and did not want to have to be exposed to this kind of re victimization by the Catholic cult again. \n\nI believe it is because a lot of Muslim people are people of colour that they are persecuted in Canada.  The real terrorist in Canada is not only the Catholic church but a spokesman for them the Crime Minister of Canada Stephen Harper and the Conservative Party of Canada.  The are terrorists who rig elections, and their party is rife with criminal and illegal activity and are a threat to democracy.  That is why everyone should be protesting their anti terrorist bill they are ramming down the throats of Canadians Bill C-51  \n\nIf you have nothing intelligent to say and believe being a conservative makes you exempt from the laws of Canada, and you are set in dismantling democracy, the Conservative Party of Canada wants you.
