I am today a senior grandfather. I have spent much time in the USA, from Texas, New York, and out west in Ohio and California. I found the people I met and befriended and business partners to be as nice as Canadians. Most were generous in all ways. At some point, I thought about relocating, but...\n\nCanada had less money to offer as income, but considerably less expense. Nearly free university, a well educated population, a government not controlled by corporate money or interests. We have no right to have guns, though some of the well-to-do have hunting rifles. We do not live in fear if a stranger knocks on the door. We have government medical and prescription protection. Noone, repeat, has guns at home.\nRegarding prescription insurance, I pay a small fee per month ($30) and I have the government cover 80% of the cost. My kids, until age 18 were also covered for medication.\nUniversity at today cost is about $400/course plus $350/semister.\nDoctor visits are free, as well as hospital stays and surgery.\nThe average Canadian lifespan is 3-4 years more than the USA.\nThe cost of living is higher by 1/3 for food. Housing is about the same or slightly more, because we have winters and need to heat in winter and a/c in summer. Even so, electricity or gas is less expensive.\n\nSummary. With less money, we have a higher standard of living.

Obviously the USA is number one choice. My brother is in robotics. Top of his class, go getter, good connections, etc. $80k canadian a year, moved to america, makes $250k american plus stock options (accounting for the exhange rate that's closer to $60k USD for the job in canada)\n\nCanada is great for mediocrity. America is great for excellence. \n\nIt is better to be bottom in the barrel in canada. It's better to be in the top in the usa. We do have a lot of higher payed unskilled jobs. Tree planting in canada for example can pay $30-60 an hour, whereas in america it's ussually closer to minimum wage (also due to geographical and structural differences within the same job). Whereas all tech and medical jobs will pay drastically higher in the USA.

While population of Canada is rapidly growing due to migration, such growth is failing to convert into quality of life improvement. Actually, Current Canadian GDP per capita is the same as it was back in 2011. It is a lost decade and a serious erosion of life quality. According to the recent study conducted by Statistics Canada we have significantly more skilled workers than jobs. At the same time most of jobs we have struggle to offer “living salary”. And all those students and newcomers contribute to housing affordability problem.

Health care from your job? How did that work out for everyone during the pandemic? Ppl who lost their jobs in the states? All Canadians, even if they lost their jobs kept all their healthcare for free. Having a baby? Just pay the cost to park at the hospital, have cancer/heart attack - same, just what it cost you at the lot, $3.50. Health care is huge. Need to go to your doctor, no second thoughts bc u don’t have money. We do have a little longer waits for non serious surgeries, but all serious and emergency stuff is done asap. We all appreciate our health care so much when compared to the US.

8:15 there’s a reason for this. It’s a melting pot in America. Bringing all these different cultures together… but if too many from one country show up, they’ll make a community too large that they don’t need to melt with the population. There are Chinatowns and Little Italys and whole Mexican communities, but ultimately everyone has to interact with everyone else. Allowing 300,000 Indians to get green cards every year and only 1,000 Norwegians would lead to the Norwegians merging well with the country, while the Indians would all move to one or two cities and make entire sections of the cities like small versions of their own country. Which is the last thing we want. Once an immigrant community gets enough power to be a voting block, things are scary, but once it has enough power that they start getting their own representatives and passing laws for the rest of us? Laws the look like laws they had back in their own countries… that led them to run from their countries in the first place? It’s a concern. We want people to adapt to the USA and not try to adapt the USA to them. Over time, the US does change due to the growing voting blocs. But that’s after generations of those immigrant populations getting larger, and their children being born and raised in the country they’ve adapted to. When I see a protest of Muslim immigrants burning pride flags, or Chinese and Spanish-speaking Hispanic immigrants who never bothered to learn English, I see problems with our immigration system. But the kids of the Arab immigrants will be more tolerant, and the Hispanic kids will have grown up in American schools. Most Chinese-American kids might speak some Chinese at home with their parents, but they’re worse at it, and their first language is English. It takes second Generation immigrants to really start meshing with America. But if entire school districts are all Indian, and every store, restaurant, and business in a whole town is Indian, then those kids won’t adapt to America. They won’t get bits of their home culture from their time at home and with their neighbors, while also getting bits of American culture from their classmates and other people around them. Nope. They’ll only be exposed to the first Generation who completely took over the area- IF, we allowed for unfettered immigration from the largest countries. It’s a fact that immigrant communities like to stick together. But if not enough people are in that community that you need to reach out to others around you, it helps expose you to the rest of America… Anyway! There are a ton of shows that indirectly show this phenomena. Fresh Off the Boat. The Sopranos. Even Brooklyn 99. We see as traditional and hard-to-adapt parents have to deal with kids in the next generation who are more American, don’t follow the same customs and traditions as their parents, and overall just left more of their old culture behind. No one is asking that immigrants abandon their cultural ties, but if you come to America, there are things that people need to change and accept if they’re going to live here.

I have a different perspective… as I’ve lived in Canada since I was 2 years old (same with my wife). I’m in my early 40s and my wife is in her late 30s… the other thing is… we are of Sri Lankan decent… Tamils… BTW, I didn’t understand a thing from this interview… I’m going by what is said in the comment section.\nBut, hear me out… before you say… “Oh no… this guy has nothing in common…”\nJust so you know… I was born in Germany in 1980… my wife was born in Sri Lanka in 1985.\nWhat I noticed is all my uncles, grandparents would rave about the fact that if the war in Sri Lanka was over they would go back and live there… well… truth be told it’s been over for a while… and they go visit… but they built a new life here in Canada… and they’ve come accustomed to the luxury lifestyle here. They go back and realize that it’s not the same as it was when they were growing up… things changed… people don’t recognize them or pretend to recognize them only to take advantage of them because they know they are from Canada.\nThere is also the factor of advancement… both Sri Lanka and India is really catching up especially from the time the internet and the smartphone came along… nobody would believe… but the difference between Canada and Sri Lanka or even India in the early 90s… jeez… night and day… now it’s more equal especially in the major cities… but before… malls and escalators… people would literally ask what is that??? Elevators didn’t even have doors we had to manually close it lol…\nAnyway… that’s my point of view…\nAlso… way safer in Canada than India… how many rape cases do you hear about in Canada vs India???

I resent that characterization that the per-country cap is “discriminatory.” Yes, this system is broken, and it is stupid that we educate a foreigner and then lose their talent or force them to stay without a legal status. But the purpose of the system is to promote diversity. Norway and India have the same number of green cards available to their respective nationals because the U.S. wants all countries equally represented.

In the whole story, the 90% struggle seems to be from the wife.. doing bachelor's, masters, raising kids, giving ielts, extra tests etc all was done by the wife and husband was doing nothing other than making poor decisions. We have relatives who were in the same situation as accountants and they showed flexibility and moved to suburb and now have permanent residence. Also after coming to Canada they have not started any proper job rather living on child benefits and exploiting the system.

As a dutchie I'm in awe.... pur own country was flushed by (EU)politicians with Marxist agenda's.... Holland is overrunned by freeloading africans asians, etc... Tyler, I can see you are sadden by these reactions and I feel for you. Honestly, I love the USA and I would actually live there in a heartbeat for all the positive reasons I know and love about the US. However, as Mom and a soon to be school age child, I would hesitate because of that. Canada has its own issues and don’t let everyone fool you. It’s not some social utopia. We have problems too just different. It’s like you said you need to pick a good, safe safe to live in. The same advise applies to Canada. Also, Reddit is full of your not so typical Canadians so take with a grain of salt ?

Just for fun of comparing our countries, since gun violence and violence is usually mentionned a lot I just looked at some weird stats. First of all, in Canada around 13% of the population own a gun and 22% of household at least have one gun compared to the US which 32% of the population own a gun and 44% of household at least have one gun. The other weird stats I looked, after finding that out, was the methods of homicides in Canada and the US. It's supposed to be stats by compiling the police repports and could be not completely accurate but it is still different how they are stated. For exemple in Canada in 2021 the number of victims by shooting 297, stabbing 242 and beating 130. For the US it's not by shooting, it starts with the victims by handgun 6012, then firearms which the type is not stated in the repport 4740, then knives and cutting instruments 1035, personal weapons (hands, fists, feet etc.) 461, then rifles 447, other guns 227 and shotguns 152. The scary thing about the US is even if Canada is 11.53% the population of the US, 11578 victims by shooting compared to 297 seems a lot. To have the same rate of violence as the US our victims by shooting in Canada would have had to be 1004. Which means in 2021 there was 71% less homicide by shooting in Canada compared to the US. Another thing I found, I live in the second largest city of Canada, it's not the 2nd but the 27th most dangerous city in Canada and if we consider only the cities which have a population of more than 1million, it's actually the 3rd safest city of Canada. So yeah I'll stay in Canada, even though I live in sin city it's still safer, there's a better health care system and we have a good multicultural diversity. Sorry for the long text, it's 4am and I write as much as I talk, which is a lot when I'm tired.

As a Canadian who lived in the US (and all over the US) for over five years, I just wanted to comment on this video. \n\nIn your video, you seem to be shocked with Canadians reactions to school shootings and health care in the US. Much like Americans paint all of Canada with one brush, Canadians do the same. We watch American news channels more than Canadian news channels, and we read news from American sources more than Canadian sources. American news really is designed to scare people, and Canadians are easily scared! Not all of us consume only American news sources, but most of us do, and that’s just simply based on the fact that Google, Facebook, CNN, ABC, etc. are American companies. Yes of course there are safe communities and cities in the US, and yes of course if you have a good job you probably don’t have to worry much about health care.\n\nDuring my time in the US, I lived in Miami, Chicago and Seattle. I didn’t like Miami. It’s kind of another world down there. Seattle was ok. Chicago though… I absolutely loved living there. And if given the opportunity, that is where I would live for the rest of my life. People will say “Chicago! It’s so violent and problems blah blah”, but like you said, there are areas, even in big cities, that are super safe and fun to live in. \n\nI live in Toronto now, and I wouldn’t hesitate to move back to Chicago if given the opportunity. The food scene, the music scene, the sports scene, and the unbelievably friendly people. Such a great town.\n\nAnyway, love the videos. Keep it up!

What gets to me is how anyone of Latino American decent can take on a job of Border Patrol officer, who are they to deny other immigrants the same opportunity they got ? And don’t tell me they did it correctly because doing it correctly today is impossible for the immigrants of today, improve the immigration system, these people want to live and work, send all the Drug Addicts we have flooding the streets of, LA, Philadelphia, las Vegas and every other major city, over south of the border exchange them for people who are gonna contribute not become waste money and resources.

As (I am assuming) a straight, cis white guy, you maybe are not seeing the racism and other kinds of bigotry people experience. Also there were 51 school shootings in the US last year, dude, that's like 1 per week. Do you think they all happen in big cities? They don't. You have had 201 deaths in school shootings since Columbine in 1999. We have had 10 school shooting deaths in that same time period, and only 1 more than that in our whole history. None ever at at elementary school. You guys need serious change in your priorities and values in your country. ?

hello, Canadian here. i believe that ( personally ) if Canada had the same freedom for weapons as the USA, things wouldn't go as bad as the USA. or wouldn't change at all. the main problem, which americans at large still refuses to admit it seems, or at least the loudest ones, is that it's a culture problem, not a gun problem. the whole of USA culturally is kinda rotten with way more chances for someone to just crack and go nuts, or commit a shitty act out of desperation, anything. while in Canada, we have people and gorups to help take care of this. we do not bankrupt people by making them seek help at hospital, and so on. the whole socio-economic of the USA is to blame for this. \n\nin my humble, basement dwelling person opinion as someone who thought about this subject for a while.

I see this done a lot but there's a big difference between correlation and causation. Your Rbc example shows the top people all white, including women I may add. It's very ingenuous to claim racism based purely on who has risen to the top. Would you call the NBA racist because blacks overwhelmingly are represented or did they get there because they were the best? First, I want to thank you for making this video. The health of a country, or the health of an individual which are clearly linked, is dependent on our ability to see ourselves and each other, and make necessary changes to improve in the areas that we lack personally, and as communities in our beautiful country of Canada and other countries as well. Well, it’s a work in progress. I appreciate how you’ve inspired us to speak about things that aren’t necessarily spoken about. At least not where I live and have lived in Canada. What matters is sharing our own thoughts, feelings, and experiences because they aren’t debatable. \n\nWe are in violation of Multiple Human Rights violations against Inuit , Indigenous and Métis people by the United Nations. Most have no water to drink—not even boiled water and bottled water is available sometimes when it’s brought to reservations . Children don’t have the same access to books. So many thousands of bodies of children taken to residential schools from their parents arms and community for over 160 years yet the deep wounds aren’t given compassion by most people anymore and systemic abuse actively impacts them and therefore all of Us . We are all one whether we see people as other’ or not. We’re humans. \n They’re not seen in media unless it’s a bad story yet we’re only now teaching one mandatory class by non indigenous people. Solution: elders teach their grandchildren languages that weren’t erased by genocide and environmental /spiritual cultural practices and lifestyles before they’re gone by paying first people elders and streaming it into all Canadian classrooms so the children can see a future where they’re valued and all Canadian kids can get a full education and learn accurate history. Making canoes, baskets, sacred ceremonies, food growing (that they taught to pilgrims so they’d survive here), etc. No, I’m not indigenous. I’m an immigrant like all but the first people. They’ve an amazing culture that’s been all but lost . When we don’t see ourselves represented in any media, any careers, and start our lives in extended poverty based on our race, and all that was taken still today, it’s no wonder the teen suicide rate for indigenous youth is more than double / triple all non - indigenous youth. The numbers are growing. \nI live in Care due to my physical disabilities . An international nursing student worked for me providing personal care like showers, meal prep etc and over that year, she said she wouldn’t have moved here specifically because of a few things I’ve mentioned. She told me Canada was sold to people in her country of origin as a ‘multicultural’ safe haven without extreme racism still prevalent today and within our history. \n\nI’m ashamed of Canadian government promises for over 100 years that aren’t fulfilled. All children deserve healthy drinking Water and an education. Period. Especially, the ambassadors of this amazing land that they see as themselves without separation. That’s accurate. We will have nothing to stand upon if we don’t protect the earth. It will go on without us. \n\nI see many things in the comments I’ve seen or experienced, unfortunately. This is a beautiful country for so many reasons. We have those same issues all over the world. I feel people say that to stop people from coming.

I think as Black people we should go all over the world. Whites and other races have no problem going to Black countries and islands with no problem! We should do the same! Enjoy your life let them hate!

At this point we just need to send troops to Mexico to eradicate these gangs. Thats why all these people are leaving honestly. Yall ever heard interviews of them and why theyre leaving? Alot of them are leaving because theyvhave death threat's from gangs. KEEP THEM OUT!!!! We all have problems, so we simply can't cure all that ails the world. We really need to close the border. We have Americans who need the same things these people want. Once America fixes what Americans need, then and only then should we help non-Americans.

Even tho I don’t think this is correct, U.S people luckily finds themselves on a good position to see this just as people making a tantrum to enter the U.S, proudly I say I’m Mexican American and I’ve lived in Mexico and Brasil as well, non of those Latin American countries I lived is as bad as Venezuela and even like that I’ve seen some very messed up shit, they are countries with a huge culture and beautiful but on the lowest levels it’s a pretty dark place to be…so for the USA people here that is heavily throwing shit, be some kind of human try to understand at least , I get it, I don’t think this is the way neither, but they are not just people trying to invade to take over or whatever, I even saw a comment saying that they should shoot those Venezuelans, the world is a pretty messed up thing now, and luckily or unluckily we don’t really know a shit about it, they are DESPERATE it seem like they were violent and most probably some of them tried to get violent but most of them is just desperate people trying to have it better in their only and one only lives..worst yet, if you have a kid, imagine how worried would you feel for not being able to provide your kid with a good life… see the people in the front for example, they were people begging and crying, is being desperate for having something better, and this is a really biiiiiiig subject with a lot of issues, wrongs, misunderstanding… you don’t know how bad is going in Venezuela, not even me, but I can imagine it cuz I know how bad some people have it in Mexico, and they don’t know how them illegally getting into the US is going to affect the US, I try to get all points so I don’t think this is correct, this kind of events shouldn’t be happening, but I also understand, just to put it in perspective, I’ve talked with some people from Venezuela and they’ve told me some crazy stuff, quick example. McDonalds something most American people know …for one person only it can be around 15 - 20 bucks, in Venezuela, and I think minimum wage rn is around 6.15 bucks and if it’s good it can be around 20 - 30 A MONTH, now apply this formula to EVERYTHING, housing, bills, expenses and I think things in Venezuela for a little bit better not that long ago,so it was worst than what I just told you, imagine you finish college you have somehow of a decent life and for things you don’t understand and no one advise you of, next week your job, money is not even half of the value it had last week, imagine if it was you and your family, your kids…I don’t have kids but I know my mom would’ve done anything for trying and give me not even a luxurious life, but a kinda decent life, and I know most of people would’ve done the same, and not only for your kids, also your mom, dad, sisters, brothers and even YOURSELF…again, I’m not saying this is correct or it’s not I’m just saying at the end our surrounding make us do whatever we are doing….I get you not being okay with this, but try to be comprensible and not go straight into hate for this people. \n\nUnfortunately I wouldn’t imagine anything to solve this problem and I hope something better comes for the entire world right now …but I just doubt it…

If you have an issue with latino people coming here undocumented, you should remember that your ancestors did EXACTLY the same thing and that they decimated native Americans in order to create rules, laws and regulations against the very thing they themselves did. Don't like it? Why are you here in the Americas then- if you don't want to mingle with us? All of Latinos are American whether central, south or north American.\n \nNative Americans were here first. Y'all seem to love to forget that you have no right to discriminate Latinos (because their heritage started here) and indigenous people from the Americas. Vote for immigration laws that are in favor of them that makes it easier for them just as it was free for your ancestors to do for theirs.

Why they don't use the same aggression getting in our country. Use that aggression against their own country. Fight for their rights. They are lazy. Our country bleed to get we are at. They are poorer countries in rich in what they have. Yet all those people can take over the country that are coming here. There isn't just families coming here. There are mostly men coming here. Most of them are addicts. I know there are some need of help. But I believe it is a very small percentage. I've seen illegals getting drunk and high. Not getting charge with a crime when committed. Just so we are all clear with the facts… On January 20 when Biden was inaugurated the border was opened. Check the fact. I have been watching footage of this for over 2 1/2 years now. I live in Canutillo, Texas, Suburb of El Paso. Migrants cross illegally on a daily basis. Are we going to have enough food and shelter for all of these people. Probably not! Build towns that are surrounded by walls give them a small space to live and build factories. Allow these people to have a small check and live and work in those small cities say in the middle of nowhere. Make them work for 1 year in those places and as long as they do good not crime and show up for work and take care of there living space then allow them to become citizens. That way you weed out the criminals and non hard workers. In 1 year you will have a good idea of who should be staying. Also its them paying for there spot and contributing to the us economy. Once they become contributing members of society and they get on there feet out of each check they will take a small amount to pay for all the resources that were used to help them. Also I belive the majority of the ones let in should be women and the young children. If I don't get free help working full time struggling they shouldn't either. Let's make america a manufacturing power house like we're were in the past and the only reason we are a super power now.
