Prime Minister Trudeau, you are a true leader. I lived in Canada many years ago and have friends there. I am so sorry about what my government is doing to Canadians. Please know this government does not represent all of us Americans.

As an American, I want to add my voice to those of other Americans who stand in support of Canada, the EU and Ukraine. Our current occupant of the Oval Office is an embarrassment to those of us who are true patriots. Let the trolls say what they will to express their ignorance, for who in their right mind can support this turncoat.

I stand with Canada . What the orange ghoul and muskrat are doing to this country is unforgivable. As a cadaian born , but have to live here because of Air Force father wa WWII . As an American and a Trump supporter, I agree with these tariffs, but only equal to the tariffs other countries charge the United States on our imports. I do not agree with imposing this on our brothers and sisters to the north. I’m speaking of the good people of Canada. I have traveled to Canada and crossing the border was just like crossing into another state. Yes, there was a border gate which there should be, but I had absolutely no problem whatsoever. I hope our government can work this out very quickly and stop this foolishness. But to countries like China and Europe the United States should charge a reciprocal tariff as to what you charge us on our import. It’s only fair. Why are we paying an exuberant tariff for our goods entering your country and you expect to pay nothing with your goods entering ours. Most Americans, love Canada and love our Canadian brothers and sisters, we’ve always supported each other in world, wars, and other attacks against our respective countries. I pray this is resolved quickly, and then we can once again live United and in harmony.

Is this realy what the majority of us citizens want?

This is very scary. Again, what Trump is doing makes no sense - there is no economic or political sense to it. So what is he doing it for ?? To reduce our trade deficit? We have a huge deficit with Canada because we import so much oil from them, which our refiners require. On top of that we get Canadian oil for first cheap when compared to the global price mark for oil. This keeps US petroleum prices LOW! So okay if this is the issue, why not just find ways to improve the economics of U.S. oil production instead of smacking all Canadian imports with a 25% hammer ??? He has ulterior motives and it’s to weaken the American spirit and sell what he has on American to Russia. And our Congress isn’t doing anything !!!

This is killing those of us who did not vote for him. We stand behind what you have been forced to do in ??.

We know why HE is doing this. He is pushing an imperialistic agenda, so he can be like those he admires. He's hoping that Canada will bend at the knee and give in so that he can claim Canada as a 51st state. But guess what? That won't happen. He's just doing himself and his country harm. He doesn't care about you, or me, or us as two countries that have always worked together. But we are setting up border security to keep American drugs, and weapons, and illegal migrants from coming into Canada. We're going to have to survive by reverting our trade to elsewhere, to depend on ourselves, to boycott U.S. products. We may be nice, but we are also tough. We love our society, our democracy, and our benefits. We won't give that up. Growing up, I lived in South Western Ontario, I used to go back and forth from Canada to the U.S. with no issues. Now, I'm sad to say, I won't ever be going to the U.S. again. Let's all hope for a brighter future for both countries.

I did Every thing I could as a voter to support Kamala Harris and prevent this insanity. I am soooooooooooooo sorry for what tRump is doing- via hyperbole, deceit, conceit and outrageous LIES- to undermine our relationships with our neighbors and allies. Wish us luck. I almost forgot what an actual leader sounds like. It is sad but this is exactly what Trump is wanting. He is creating chaos and attacking our friends so he can create an emergency and declare martial law. I never thought that in my lifetime I would see, as I do now, the once might USA become a vassal state of Russia. How the mighty have fallen! What makes it worse is that the (new) US leader is in no way responsible to the US electorate and is a War Criminal as recognised by the International Criminal Court. Trump is a loser and going to cost the USA a lot of money. Canadian government has made Canadians paralyzed for decades with high tax rates, made worst business decisions emptied citizens pockets to fill outsiders and their own. It should be no surprise that our leadership chooses to blame all of our problems on someone else, because that's exactly what they do every day. We have a drug problem, it's because of Canada and Mexico. We have an immigration problem, likewise Mexico and Canada. We have a deficit problem, that's because of the EU and NATO. Our problem is our government, specifically Republicans who won't accept the simple truth: you want to solve problems you have be disciplined and smart. You have to spend money to fix your problems instead of blaming some else and trying to get them to pay for it. You pay to solve your problems instead of giving huge tax cuts to people who don't need them. You stop lying to your people. You want to change the trade imbalance? Build products that other countries want at a price that makes sense. The EU has no laws that prevent American car manufacturers from selling their cars in Europe. American car companies make shitty cars. They make cars that are too big, that don't make sense for European where streets can be very small and gas is very expensive. The US manufacturers don't make a single small car in thos country that can compete with European cars. US agricultural products are laced with poisonous chemicals that are outlawed in the EU because they kill people. Our governmeent doesn't give a shit about that because to grow healthy food means you have to cut profits, almighty dollars, instead of grow things that the rest of the world will accept. We have an idiot for president who thinks he knows more than anyone else and an idiot party that won't tell him the truth. This is going to cost us big time. We are going into recession, probably a long one because we don't have real leaders and the president on his best day is nothing more than a reality TV personality, and not a very entertaining one at that.

How come still nobody knows what Putin has on Trump? What was this secretive meeting in Helsinki years ago about? What was discussed there? Trump being Trump, who lies and who is weak of charactre and as bribeable and corrupt as they come. Can't put a normal sentence together. Picture that big toddler in a room with Putin and Putin alone.. Nobody knows what was discussed there. Now they have a president picking fights with his allies. Bravo Prime Minister Trudeau. Unfortunately Donald Trump will destroy the US. Canada will grow stronger without US. It is regrettable that the current Trump administration is destroying the strong relationships between US with Mexico, Canada, Europe, UK, China, Middle East and Africa. Canada will always stand for democracy, freedom and justice even if this current administration refuses to do so. US and Canada has fought WWI, WWII, Korean war, Vietnam war, Iraq war, Afghanistan war together. As brothers in arms both have fought, bleed together against fascism. What Donald is doing in the US is as close as it gets to fascism in America. During this difficult time in American history more than ever America needs to trust in God. Reading as much as I could of the comments below, it is with great respect that we as human can still care for one another even when we are from different countries, continents, backgrounds an so one. Evil will always try to do it's thing and we must come together to abolish it. Being from different countries in this situation is not much we can do. Maybe stop importing from America, at least till this administration is gone in 4 years. The way it's going , America will lose a lot of it's allies and unless tyranny and dictatorship follows, we will vote the so called politicians out of office and claim our rights to a better way of life. What has Canada and European countries done to actually try and end the death and destruction from this war? Europe buys energy from Russia, and Canada is only giving 650 million dollars in weapons over three years, while America has supplied hundreds of billions of dollars in aid and military equipment. Zelensky goes around the world dressed in a military outfit with no desire to stop the slaughter of humans on both sides. There have been thousands of wars where, eventually, one side has to accept the reality that they can not win, Zelensky is unwilling to see this. As a US citizen, I apologize on behalf of this corrupt administration. I certainly didn't vote for the ??, and I'm not sure how anyone could have... yet, here we are. Canada and Mexico are not responsible for the people in the US who chose to use drugs. In fact, it's the United States job to keep illegal drugs and immigrants out of the US and they are doing a poor job of it and need someone else to blame. As far as alcohol exports Canada exports over 600 million dollars to the us while the us exports 255 million to Canada. Both countries lose. But this does highlight the trade deficit between the two countries. 63 billion dollar trade deficit with canada is enormous. I don't know what the solution is, but i know this will be painful for all.

As an American, I don’t watch CNN clips and believe what politicians say on either side to get my news. However, it’s absolutely true that EU, and China places tariffs on the US. It is also true that United States provide most of the security for all the free nations. At what point do we say enough? I do not know if Mexico or Canada has tariffs on US goods before this. But if they did, they have become quite entitled, haven’t they.

If look at another perspective, if Trump did not impose tarrifs, then Canada will continue to sell the cars back to US for high profits. Trump mentioned about this, he is not happy. Actually I can understand Trump and what he is trying to do. If he is not harsh, Canada will never change taking advantage of US, not spending on own military.... Etc. US empire is declining fast, and Trump knows this. He is desperate to make his own country great again and stop the decline even though what he must do is going to be very unpopular among all americunts' friends and allies. The same for EU and troublemaker Ukraine who started the war by arrogantly provoking giant superpower neighbor Russia. US cannot afford to fund money, soldiers, weapons for war anymore. If EU wants to support, EU can go ahead without US. Trump is trying to save his own country so he is not wrong.
